Need help with XP instal. stuck at: Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver

I've bought a new 2.0 ghz laptop with vista blah blah but i want to change to XP.
I've
bought a new copy of XP and am ready to go then first issue was during
installation the screen says can't find harddrive installed.
I
then found some thread somewhere which i've lost that said to buy an
external floppy drive and downloaded that floppy driver thingy that i
need to get past that stage from the toshiba website..
FYI driver name: SA200 ACHI F6-1017-XP

worked fine.. when it said press F8 if you agree to install XP i nearly
wet myself.. anyhow after it formatted the drive it then asked me this:
Insert the disk labeled:
*Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver*
into drive A:
* Press ENTER when ready
WTF are you talking about laptop? can someone please help me past this stage?

Here are detailed instructions I found earlier:
Installing a Retail (street copy) version of Windows XP on a Vista Toshiba Laptop.
- If the Toshiba laptop has a seperate BIOS for XP and Vista, download and flash the XP BIOS over the Vista BIOS.
- If XP Setup does not detect the SATA Hard Disk, simply turn on "SATA Compatibility Mode" in the BIOS if applicable. If this option is not available, follow these steps:
1) Download the Windows XP SATA F6 driver from the Toshiba Support/Downloads Website.
If an individual F6 driver is not available, download and unzip the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver. The Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver package should contain some folders under the "F6flpy" folder. For example: ICH7M_32bit for an ICH7 based chipset when installing Windows XP 32bit.
2) Copy the F6 driver files (iastor.inf, etc..) to a blank floppy disk. The actual files must reside in the root directory of the Floppy Disk. For example, A:\iastor.inf, A:\iaahci.inf, etc..
3) Use a Toshiba USB Floppy Drive with the Toshiba notebook. (some non-Toshiba USB Floppy Drives may not function properly during XP setup)
4) Boot from Windows XP CD-ROM, start the installation and ensure the floppy disk is inserted in the USB Floppy Drive.
5) When XP Setup prompts you to press F6 to install a Storage Driver, immediately press F6.
6) When XP Setup prompts you to select a SATA driver, select the appropriate driver and continue. For example: ICH7M Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller, ICH8M Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller
7) Keep the Floppy Drive attached and Floppy Disk inserted until XP has completed its installation. Do not Partition or Format the Hard Disk during XP Setup. The SATA drivers from the Floppy Disk are copied and stored on the Hard Disk during XP installation.

Intel Matrix Storage Manager disables Windows Update and Windows Validation on Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad R61 8918CTO on which I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64-bit) on a new Seagate Momentus XT 750GB drive. The installation was trouble-free, as were all of the post-install Windows Updates.
Then I installed ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and used it to install most of the available Lenovo updates. Big mistake. I'll spare you a detailed account of the hours I wasted troubleshooting, rolling back to previous restore points, and doing more troubleshooting, but it turns out that installing Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver v. 8.9.2.1002 caused Windows Update and Windows Validation to fail.
Symptoms: Windows Update control panel can't check for updates and reports that the Windows Update service isn't running when it actually is. Online Windows Validation fails and the standalone Windows Validation utility won't install. Microsoft programs that require a validated copy of Windows (e.g., Microsoft Security Essentials) won't install.
Solution: Roll back the driver for the relevant SATA controller to the previous driver.
I've reinstalled ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and hidden the proposed Intel Matrix Storage Manager update; since then, I've used it to complete my Lenovo updates without issue.
I hope this post will help other people with this problem find the solution a lot faster than it took me!

This happened after installing a new advanced format drive with 4k-byte sectors, I'd guess. If the storage driver doesn't report the physical sector size to Windows, update fails.
I just ran across this myself (again) putting Win 7 on a T400.
I don't know why this is still going on. It may be that the update lists for older machines still have pre-AF-drive drivers listed.
FYI, another fix is going to the Intel site and installing the latest Matrix Storage Manager AHCI driver. This may be more desirable than rolling back to an older driver in some cases.

I need help with re installing my apple account for itunes.

Had problems with my itune account, so I uninstalled and now need help with re-installing the program with the songs I have already purchased.

Your iTunes account is something at the iTunes Store online. It is not possible to uninstall it. Do you mean the iTunes application? Even if you delete the application and restore it, it should not have deleted your iTunes library (essentially the contents of the iTunes folder in Music) on your computer unless you did a separate steep and specifically deleted that too. You need to tell us what it was you deleted.

Intel matrix storage manager

Hi, i just got a new t400 and I'm curious why it comes with the intel matrix storage manager, which seems to me to be a program that you only need if you have a RAID system, and since a typical laptop only has one harddrive I dont see any point why I should have this program installed ?
I would appreciate some advice before I remove the program though.

The matrix driver is used for the turbo memory function.. if you do not have a second hd, or turbo memory installed it is quite possible you do not need to have this driver installed.

[Solved] RAID 0 with Arch Linux and Intel Matrix Storage Manager

I just bought a brand new DELL Studio desktop and it has 2 500 HD's which I would like to run in RAID 0. I've setup the BIOS to run the RAID 0. Now I want the arch linux installation to recognise the volume. I followed the guide on the wikipage

but /dev/mapper doesn't show anything after modprobing the modules and installing dmraid. My controller is a intel matrix storage controller, so what module should I modprobe because sata_sil isn't the right one.

you have a separate /boot partition, so your menu.lst must say :
root (hd0,0) # the partition including /boot
kernel /vmlinuz26 ... # without leading /boot
initrd /kernel26.img # without leading /boot
(in grub, / is the root of the partition that was set with the root command, your vmlinuz26 and kernel26.img are in (hd0,0)/, not in (hd0,0)/boot/)
did you install from core CD or from FTP ?
there was a dmraid update few weeks ago that modified device names that dmraid creates :
it add "p" before the number of the partition (your iws...Volume0 don't change, but your iws...Volume0# change to iws...Volume0p#)
if you installed from core CD, you will only need to add this "p" when you will upgrade dmraid (or the full system)
(you will then need to edit both /boot/grub/menu.lst and /etc/fstab)
if you installed from FTP, you need to add this "p" now, as you installed last version of dmraid

Need help with PSE12 install

The files apparently downloaded properly, but during install I get the following error message:
The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup. Close these applications and click Retry to continue: ElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe.
I'm installing to a Windows XP SP 3 machine with at least 1 gig of ram, and a 1 Tb hard drive that's less than half full, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. I cannot find the named file running anywhere on the machine - anyone run into this?

Hi,
Please open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Open "Processes" tab. Make sure you click "Show processes from all users" . Please see ifElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe is shown in the TaskManager. Please close it and then try to install again.

there is no install or download when i tap on the app i want. theres something at the top that says the price but its not highlighted and wont let me open it. i already tried logging in and going back to the app i want and it still hasnt changed. i need help cause im not really good at this stuff and i dont know what else to really do

Try checking the Parental Controls-if they are enabled, the price will be shown at the top but it will be grey instead of blue, and won't be able to be selected. (Settings>General>Restrictions)

[SOLVED] need help with virtualbox install

I'm a relative n00b to Arch, haging migrated from Ubuntu (pha!!). Arch rocks!
However, my beloved virtualbox isnt playing ball!
After many hours of getting arch up and running I now need some assitance please with VirtualBox PEUL. I've googled and search these wikis and found:

I used yaourt (having spent another many hours trying to get to speed with what Arch AUR is and yaourt!!)
This is what I did:
1. Visited http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VirtualBox and followed PEUL instructions...
2. Click on AUR link and then click on PKGBUILD and it downloaded a PKGBUILD from here http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd
3. Then went back to the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VirtualBox and clicked on VirtualBox_1.5.6-1_Linux_x86.run and downloaded the file.
4. In accordance with the instructions on the wiki, I ran makepkg
HOWEVER, I get errors!!:

Can anyone help please? In Ubuntu all this was just installed with dpkg -i VirtualBox.deb

Good idea, I checked this out originally but it didnt work so I went for "manual" install.
The download from yaourt never starts, just hangs - the server is dead or something?? ...

Need help with PSE11 install

Downloaded PSE11 with Akamai and it will not install.

Akamai download manager shows 2 file links. Both read the same except 1st one shows 11 LS15.7Z and the 2nd shows LS15.exe 1st one appears to download correctly but 2nd one
Says file archive part of Adobe pSE11 is missing and you need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe PSE11. Please download all parts.

Need help with Kernel Panic because of Intel Graphics Driver???

Hi,
I was using my mini mac has usual and it crashed! It seems to be related to the intel driver. Dont think I updated recently, although little snitch demo license did seem to run out just before it happened.
At first I could even log into to safe mode, but after several single user mode disk checking I seemed to be able to login through safe mode. Unfortunatley I cant role back, even if this was successful, through my timecapsule because I foolishly(Dont most people do this???) repartitioned my HD and lost my hidden recovery partition.
Anyway, I was thinking that if I can login through safe mode could I copy the driver that it is using to my normal bootup mode??? I have included my kernel panix below. Hope someone can help?

You need another drive to boot from and this is why I suggested using a directly connected External HD instead of the Time Capsule, plus then you will still have the Time Capsule to fall back on for your data...

You need to reinstall 10.7.4 somewhere so that you have a Restore Partition to work from.

Need help with windows install

I am trying to install windows 7 64 bit on my macbook pro 2006 running a leopard OS and it keeps saying select cd rom boot type. what do I do?

You don't need a Windows machine to burn the iso to a DVD, if you use "Disk Utility" just burn it at the slowest speed possible and it should work. (unless your doing the work around to get it to work)
Just make sure you use a program that will make it a bootable image tho, you can't just drag the files over to it and let it burn, it has to end up being bootable in order to boot into the installer.
Apple (Boot Camp) will only support NTFS so as part of installing Windows 7 just chose NTFS as the format while booted from the Windows installer.
Basically, start Boot Camp Assistant, download the drivers, make the partition size you want, (doesn't matter what you format it as now, Windows will do it again with the one you need) it will then boot into the Windows installer and you will eventually get to the part where you can format it to NTFS, it will do it's thing and reboot into the new Windows 7 desktop and you will then install the drivers.

I need help with network install of SQL Developer 3.2

Does anyone have any references on how to perform a network install for SQL Developer? Here is what I'm trying to achieve:
1. Network installation on drive S:\ (Windows, obviously)
2. User links to network installation
3. Connections are unique for each user
I found the 2006 posting of network install for Raptor, but I could not find anything that correlates with the latest release. All I have done so far is downloaded and unzipped. Any help/instructions/guides/tutorials are welcome.

You have installed!. The code for SQLDeveloper does not have an installer.
If the software is on S, say a shared drive, each user will start sqldeveloper and a directory called sqldeveloper will be created in their local %APPLICATION_DATA% folder. This will keep all connections etc unique for all users.
You will have to create a link from the S drive to the sqldeveloper.exe if you want a shortcut to start it. We dont provide it.
