Hello all my question is really 3 parts.
1 how do you add a drop shadow to a sprite there are two
places I need drop shadows on buttons I'm trying to create and I
can't figure it out.
2 Can anyone tell me - In the application I am trying to make
buttons that some one can type info on an object where can I figure
out how to do this
3 whats the best way to carry information through out the
application?
Let me explain the application I am trying to make. It's a
pet id tag simulator where a person will pick a tag then I will
need them to select a color for that tag then type what info they
want on the tag.

Need Major Help! Powerbook G4. PLEASE HELP

I have a Powerbook G4 running OS X 10.5.8 and for some reason I can't get it to lanch apps or anything. The finder got corrupted and I've tried everything to get to disk utility but I can't. I tried safe mode. So I figured I might just make a partition on an external drive for my mac and lanch it off this copy of my HD I made a while back. It's in .hfs format. It used to be a .dmg but I was wondering since I (Sorta) don't have a restore disk if I could mount it to a mac partiontion launch my mac from that and fix the finder file. How can I do this? I also have a .iso I got online of the restore disk but I'm not sure it's the right one since they have .exe's on the disk. Not really complying with the info I used to remember about my disk. Please help.

I think you want a bootable clone. PPC Machines (G4,G5) need FIREWIRE drives) Intel Machines can use USB and Firewire drives.

I need major help with Adobe Reader!

I am a student and I need Adobe Reader for my e-books and when I click on my chapter to read it, Adobe Reader says not responding after a few seconds and closes. I have double checked the license agreement and accepted twice so I know that is not the case. I have also cleared the cookies and uninstalled Adobe Reader and re-installed Adobe Reader. Tech Support at my school can't even figure it out. Please help!! I needed to start reading my chapters yesterday! Thank you!

I need major help with the 5.0 device software!

I recently had to get a refurbished Blackberry Curve 8900 from T-mobile because my phone was no longer charging. The old one had the 5.0 update on it, this one however, does not. I know how to download it and everything, but when I am JUST about to click "finish" a message pops up that says
"Invalid Configuration
The Blackberry Device Software upgrade new features and significant enhancements to the Blackberry solution and, as such, is only available to users with an active BlackBerry subscription. To learn more about Blackberry service, please visit www.blackberry.com/service."
I don' t know what a BlackBerry subscription is.
I need help getting passed this, so I can continue on with device update.

It is referring to a full BB data plan, the last one in this list:

That plan is what enables BIS -- BlackBerry Internet Service -- which enables all of the rich and proprietary features of BBs. If you had those before, then it sounds like your carrier has not completed shifting your prior account from your old BB to the new one (it is controlled by the BB PIN). I suggest you contact them for formal assistance.

My computer needs major help

Hi everyone. I would greatly appreciate any help that you can offer. You are never going to believe this but my apple care protection plan expired TODAY, october 11th, and i just realized now (after midnight, so technically it's october 12th) that i need help. that is so unbelievably frustrating.
My computer has been running terribly the passed couple of months and I am just now getting around to trying to do some maintenance. Its been really bogged down, crashing here and there, taking long to do everything....etc. I have 1.5ghz of RAM, so thats definitely not the problem. I started to run norton on it tonight and norton won't even complete its task. i keep getting an error on norton that says "norton disk doctor has come upon an unexpected problem and is unable to continue. error 25432" i did it again and got the same message only this time it said "error 23005." I am not sure what is happening, but I need to do some kind of virus scan/maintenance on it and it wont even let me.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

if it's be a slowly occurring problem, then it might be one of two things:
1. your filesystem is corrupted. could be anything from data corruption to sibling links, node structure, whatever. only way to check would be to do a disk verify. you could also give repairing permissions a shot if you haven't already (go Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility then click on your main drive and click the "Repair Permissions" button. after the repair is complete, click the "Verify Disk" button to the right of it. if it comes back with any errors, boot from your Restore CD and repair from there).
2. your hard drive has so little free space left that you system has no room for page files, virtual memory and the like.
if it's either of those, best bet - backup your files, format your drive (write it over with zeros 7 times to thoroughly get rid of any bad sectors) and reinstall. it's hard to diagnose this since i don't fully know your situation.

Need Major Help Running Really Slow!!!

Hey guys, I am not new to macs at all, I have had this computer since the macbooks first came out. Ok, so recently its been running so slow, I have done everything, running maitence scripts and a bunch of matinece programs and the such. I have also cleared out stuff that I don't use and its still slow, it allso tends to feeze up on me every now and then! Need help!

This is what I have done in a similar situation. Back up your system and reinstall your OS. Then add your stuff back in and see how it runs. Just wondering how much RAM you are running?

I still have a major issue.
G5 iMac PPC Leopard 10.5.5, 2.1 GHz, 1.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM (dont hate b/c still w/ a PPC, haha)
Anyways, problem:
I've talked to 3 apple protection people, 1 tech and have been to the apple store twice.
My computer has decided that it wants to go to sleep when it wants to.
I think it's b/c it's getting hot...too hot, how? I dunno.
I was just running Firefox, iTunes, and VLC was only open-not playing. And IT just goes to sleep.
Apple store, replaced logic board first time, did some diagnostic tests.
2Second time, tests and stress tests, etc. Didnt find a thing, never went to sleep on them.
HMMMMMM??????
Like I said earlier, I think it's getting tooo hot, but how do you control that? Would that be a problem?
Im a huge and devout MAC user, not religiously devout to mac, you get the picture.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to solve this issue!

A couple of things: first, look in the logs to see if there's anything about temperatures just before it goes to sleep. Use the Console application from your Utilities folder and look at both the Console messages and system.log. If you're getting overheating messages, they ought to show up in there. I don't know what the messages will look like for sure in Leopard: my G5 iMac was running Tiger when it had its overheating problem.
As for why it's overheating, it could be a defective logic board (mine was). Other people have reported a problem where the vents at the bottom of the screen get clogged with pet hair or dust and restrict the air flow.
Also, make sure the back is on correctly. If there's any air leakage around the back, it interferes with the proper air flow through the iMac. I had this happen when I removed the back to replace a bad stick of RAM and got the back on crooked. The computer didn't go to sleep, but the fans definitely got cranked up.
Finally, look at the physical location of your iMac. Cool air comes in the bottom and gets pulled up through the case and gets vented out the top in the back. Make sure nothing's restricting the air flow into the bottom or out the top. Also, make sure that the hot air coming out the top isn't getting pulled back in the bottom, like it would if the iMac was enclosed in a cabinet of some kind.

Upgrading to SSD Need major help

Hello, so I have a big problem here. I bought a SSD and i thought the samsung data migration can do the trick.
The problem starts because I can't retrieve the file? It says it is unable to copy from my HDD. So I thought it was the windows that is corrupted so I did everything I could to repair the files and even when it is repaired, I can't migrate the data. I tried other migration software such as acronis but it still displays the same error.
What I need help is, could I just put in the blank SSD and then HP recover into the SSD drive?
I am running a HP Pavillion dv6-6c19tx
I'm just gonna forget about whatever programs or data I have in the HDD because I can mount the HDD after that and copy it over.
Of course, if cloning the HDD is possible... it'd be really good

Hi,
Yes, you can use HP Recovery disc set to start from the begining and you need to know one more thing: capacity of the SDD must be equal or greater than the existing HDD. After that, you can put the old HDD to an enclosure and copy user data/files over. You may need a different machine to copy because your old machine can see the old HDD is its resource.

Need MAJOR HELP recovering an 845E-Max board (no post)

Hey guys and gals, I need some SERIOUS SERIOUS help here recovering my old board. I have an MSI 845E-MAX board, and decided to do some overclocking to it. While doing it, I raised the FSB too much, and now the system wont post. So I know what your all thinking, ok, take out your CMOS battery, or clear the JBAT1 jumpers. While ive done that, repeatedly, to no avail. Ive cleared the jumpers over and over, nothing. Taken the battery out for a 24hr period, nothing. Took the battery out for nearly a MONTH!, and nothing. Next your probally thinking, while maybe its bad RAM, Vid Card, CPU, etc. While it isnt lol Ive replaced/tested all the current hardware in other systems and they all work fine. Ive got a defenet mobo problem, and its really pissing me off lol on other boards by other manufacturers, if I put my FSB to high and it didnt post, restarting would put it into default specs, so I could adjust my fsb as needed. With this 845E though, its no such luck, and reseting the CMOS dosent do anything to fix it. Ive also read some posts about other boards who dont even have a JBAT1 jumper, and used an "insert" key method, where they power down, hold down the insert key, and boot up. Decided to try this, and it did nothing. I didnt think it was made for my board in the first place, but decided to give it a shot. IVe also tried reflashing/recovering the bios, by downloading the newest bios (its an AMI i believe) renaming it, putting it to a floppy, and booting the system holding CTRL+HOME to force the update. but it does nothing, and dosent even seem to read the floppy as the little green light dosent come on when i power up. The DVD/CD drive does though, and wehn i place WIN XP SP2 in the drive, it reads it and green light stays solid, so its just the floppy drive im having probs with I guess. Also, i get no beeps at startup, but can hear the hard drive boot and spin. I list my hardware specs below to help

*this is a spare system im building, but the board WAS my primary board till I upgraded, so im use to its settings, just no OC'ing it apparently lol*

I do indeed...and yah i get no beeps at all....
but everything powers up fine...hdd spins...cd rom turns on, if i put in a Nic card, the green light comes when a cat5 cable is in it. So it looks like everything is receing power fine, but i just get no beeps at all to signify start up

Ok school currently has a room of 15 emacs and one G5 today I tried installing os x server I am a novice pretty much and have no server experience,
followed this tutorial

yet had problems with setting up the client to connect
got to this part launch Directory Access (Applications/Utilities), click on the lock and authenticate, select LDAPv3, click Configure, deselect ‘Add DCHP-supplied LDAP servers to automatic search policies’, click New and key in either the IP address 172.16.1.254 or better still its FQDN. Server discovery will be fairly quick, you will see iMac01.local in the first field and you will be prompted for a network user name and password, don’t bother with this just click OK and then continue, you will then see the Server Configuration in the Services window, click OK. Click on Authentication and verify that Custom Path is displayed, you should see /LDAPv3/172.16.1.254 or the server FQDN as the second Directory Domain displayed
and it didnt discover the server is it because im using clients of 10.3.9 on a server with 10.4.8 ?
another problem was when setting up the server the user group kept flashing up saying it was netinfo service wasnt running , surely that should be running and how do i get it working?
also setting up the dns server was a issue yet i belive it to be working now,there was somthing also about network tree domain or somthing like that?
please help all i want is to create user accounts for 30 students and let them log on at any machine please help

right guys it didnt work again today ive spent to constant days trying this and im just pulling my hair out, i really dont have a clue why it isnt working below is all the information I can think of giving
the macs are on a windows network which already has a dchp server and a dns servers which give the ip addresses to the macs which are dynamic. I changed them to static and set up the macserver as its own dns. here are the ethernet config below:
configured ipv4 manually
ip:10.20.128.71
subnet mask 255.255.252.0
router 10.20.131.254
dns servers 62.171.198.104 ( I Have tried putting the macserver ip here yet internet dosent work server ip is is 10.20.128.71
the search domain i wasnt sure on so i put as maidenerlegh.sch.uk the server is macserver.maidenerlegh.sch.uk
I added all the macs to the server via there ethernet id
on the open directory setttings it lookes like this:
lookupserver:running
netinfoserver: running locally only
LPAD: running
password: running
kerebos is stopped
the emac client which is mac01 can connect to the server via going finder go connect to server and then can log on to the user accounts i created on the server yet when i went through how to set it up on the client in directory access it wouldnt discover the network like everyone else says it should it just didnt do anything ?
please help this is a major problem that i thought i could solve i dont know what im doing wrong?

So, I need major help..

Everytime I go to connect my iPod to iTunes it says Itunes needs to be updated, which i understand. So Ill go to apple.com and download the newest version of iTunes and it cant be completed because of something called "bonjor" and it will tell me to uninstall bonjor and iTunes. When i go to uninstall bonjor it says it cant be found or something like that, so I search all over my computer for it and still cant find anything. So im kind of stuck and i do not know what to do.. any tips.. help or anything? I really need to use iTunes D:

Uninstall all of these in Control Panel> Unistall/change programs:
1. Apple Mobile Device Support
2. Apple Software Update
3. Apple Application Support
4. Bonjour (if it is listed in the programs list)
5. Quicktime
6. iTunes
Restart your computer after uninstalling all of these, then retry the download
Also, are you using Windows? Do you have Windows 7, Vista (with servicepack 2), or Xp (with servicepack3)

Need major help with websites not loading...

So I have done what I think is everything... some websites just don't load... they tell me... that the server dropped the connection or that it timed out.
So, I've worked with my dsl provider and they even came out with a computer (PC) and the websites seemed to have worked for them. I reloaded the operating system... nothing seems to be working... I even tried to browse with the firewall not on. Help. Please... I need to call Applecare again but this is making me crazy...

I agree with Al Van, you should post a couple of URLs for all to check out. You should also give a few more details, type of browser and type of connection (wireless or ethernet).
Here's a good link to check on your connection speed and quality of connection: http://myspeed.visualware.com/ - this uses Java, if you have difficulty with this link post back.
I surf the web with both a Mac and a PC and have never had problems loading websites on either computer (unless they were offline). I occasionally will run into sites rendering differently on each computer. The problem you described "the server dropped the connection or that it timed out. " is a connection issue or your Mac is taking "too long" to gather info and rendering page...
Post back with more details... Rick

Two Computers with one iPod??? I need major help!!!!

I just got another computer, i have iTunes on my laptop with two iPods on it but i was wondering if I could set it up so that I can hook them to the new computer with the same songs and updates as the other with out it erasing my ipod. I read that u can set up ur iTunes on 5 computers that sync together somewhere but i forget.Please help

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer (For instance you have one at home and maybe a laptop or PC you use at work) you can change the update preference to "manually manage songs and playlists. By doing this, you can listen to your iPod at work where you may have iTunes but no songs on the computer. You can use as many iPods as you like on a computer, the limit of 5 computers you are referring to is the number of computers that you can have authorised at any one time to play iTMS purchases:

Not quite sure what the problem is need major help

My sister has a Terca 8000, and god only knows how old it is. The laptop screen is black and the phrase "Insert system disk" keeps popping up. I have tried to install different programs, but it will not do anything. As soon as you put in the disk it runs a couple of minutes then stops, and nothing happens. Can someone please help us.

That means it isn't finding the operating system. Can you tell us more about exactly what "programs" you tried and give more details.

Hardware or Software? Need Major Help Please

Please help. I have a list of questions about my newly purchased I mac g5 complete with the i sight
1) The dashboard likes to cause a lot of problems. It freezes on me but everything else is still running. I cant get out of the dash board. Its stuck. Ive deletd all the widgits ive downloaded but it still gets stuck.
2) My mac consistantly freezes when am using an application. It just freezes so I run the hardware check with the CD liek it says to do in the manual. and then THAT frezes on me too. It was 90% done checking my hard drive for damages or what not and thn it froze. It started to change the scren to a bunch of diffrent colours. this went on for 15 minutes before it finally returned to the hardware check menu. And when it finally does the mouse doesnt move and its stuck.
Please if anyone knows what to do about this help me.

You may have defective RAM or other internal problems. Since you just purchased the machine you can return it to Apple within 14 days of purchase for either a new machine or refund. Contact them at once. These machines are designed to be fully functional out of the box. Infrequently, a defective machine can be produced.
Also encourage you to purchase as much additional RAM as possible from a reputable 3rd party source, such as MacRam Direct or Crucial.
