Need more 2D performance with RX9800 Pro

Hello,
I need more 2d performance with this card, better vector work optimization and so on. I'm work with Illustrator CS2, and it's too "slow" when i am dragging, etc.
Is any way to incerase 2d performance ? Some unofficial drivers, or some "hack" ?
Configuration:
MSI K8T NEO 2
CPU Athlong 64 3000+
RX9800 PRO
2x512 Apacer 400Mhz CL2.5
Seagate 120GB S-ATA
PSU 500W chill

There isn't any optimization for that card to speak of with what you are doing.
I would think a Matrox card would be better suited, but I am also speculating. It is far better at 2d performance regarding raster/vector operations.
There might be a way to optimise the driver code, but I have no idea how.
You might want to look into communities related to the work your are doing. I do remember Adobe has a forum and tech docs, perhaps you might find what you are looking for there http://www.adobe.com/support/main.html

You very likely have picked up some "extras" while browsing that are causing your problems, or you installed some anti-virus or "cleaning/tune-up/ optimizing" software.

The article was written before OS 10.9 and 10.10, so you need to make a change in Step 3 for 10.10. To make the required change from "My Processes" to All Processes," you need to use Activity Monitor's "View" menu now:
Another thing that is not clear in the article is that you will not get good results if you run the test immediately after a restart. Use the computer normally for about a day so that any runaway processes are activated, then run the test.

Poor performance with Acrobat Pro 9

Hello,
Acrobat Pro 9 has begun to run very slowly. When checking review comments, simply filling in a check box for an edit can take a solid ten-count. If I take the same file and open it on another computer, it runs fine. I use the shared review function for some documents, and the enable commenting function for others. If I open Acrobat by holding the shift key so that no plug ins are run, the program functions fairly well, but then I can't use any of the features provided through the plugins.
This is getting to be a very serious problem. I'd appreciate some help with it. Thanks.

I cannot point to a good test and review of issues with Adobe apps and nMP due to poor AMD drivers but I think you can find those.

Not sure if this issue went away or not, if 10,9.5 helped (it should have) or perhaps try a clean install (maybe external device if not backup + erase & install) There are enough issues with importing from another system using Migration Assistant to avoid that, but none with Setup Assistant (go figure why it has bugs... still).

I'm not sure if your warranty expires in 8 more days or it already expired 8 days ago? If you're still under warranty, I would definitely call AppleCare or go to an Apple Store or AASP; they can troubleshoot it and determine if it's something that needs fixing while you're still under warranty (if you are).

No more swf import with Premiere Pro CC 7.1 ?

After upgrading Premiere Pro CC to 7.1 I am not able to import swf files, and previous projet with swf files consider them as offline. Is it just a bug with my install or did this feature has been avoided ?

Thank you for your help and all your answers. It was very helpufull to import SWF directly inside Premiere Pro and to add other video elements around the SWF in the timeline. SWF is a small file, it is very fast to export SWF in Flash, and so to update and Premiere Pro timeline if we need some change in the SWF animation.
I am using this workflow for cartoon for children. My graphic designer for this cartoon is only able to use Flash, and it is a good way beacause we are also able to create a SWF export in an html page. Video Export in Flash is really bad, for example it is unable to export embeded clips so you have to only use graphic symbol and never clip symbols (but same problems if you import SWF in Premiere Pro or After Effects). Flash video export is also bad compared to presets used in Adobe Media Encoder Premiere Pro and After Effects.
So, because now Premiere Pro CC 7.1 is not able to import SWF, the best way to export SWF to video for me:
1. Import SWF in After Effects, create a composition
2. Export the composition with Adobe Media Encoder, for example H264 around 25Mb/s like AVCHD
3. Import these videos files in Premiere Pro and replace our SWF with the video files instead.

Using 2 or more USB instruments with Logic Pro

I recently purchased a Korg M3 (which is great). I'm considering adding a Motif XS rack.. My question, are any Logic Users out there using Logic Pro with two or more USB instruments connected?
Are there any issues with that (other than assigning to different MIDI channels)? Does USB bog down when there is too much data?

I'm only using these three lines of code. If they don't work, neither will any more lines.
I discovered the issue thought. If I read two different fields from the same user-defined table then it works. If I read from two different user-defined tables I get the error. Apparently B1 can't handle parameters being set from two different ud tables.
This works:

Slow performance with macbook pro retina

Saving an image (JPEG) with my lightning fast new macbook pro 2012 retina edition takes 30-60 seconds. Any ideas why? Mountain lion Mac OS, 8GB RAM. Can't upgrade RAM but shouldn't have to! I moved images to external hard drive since I was filling up memory on laptop quickly. I would appreciate ideas from anyone who knows Elements and Mac . Thanks.

This is my only computer now. Will check into auto analyzer (never heard of it). This is Elements 11, not the whole photoshop. It is the regular, not app version. I did move some of the photos from a past pc to it, but it seems to have the same slow speed with new photos as well. I installed Elements 11 on my mac with a disc. When I bought it, it came with both pc and mac discs. A guy at the apple store had me move all the photos onto my external hard drive. Its a new Apple 3 TB external hard drive. I actually tried to increase the RAM at the suggestion of my camera club friends who had similar problem and got relief with increasing RAM of 4 up to 12 or 16. Mine is 8 and can't be increased.

Bad Airplay performance with Macbook Pro (10.9.4)

My iPhone and iPad delivers Airplay (almost) without problems to my NAD D7050 receiver. But music sent from my Macbook Pro Retina running 10.9.4 lags so much that there is no use in it. Please advice.

Can you please share the crash log ? The log is at the location: ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports (Pick the latest one of Illustrator).

Tomcat6 needs more Heapsize

I imported the application on Tomcat5.5/JDK5 to Tomcat6.0.16/JDK6.
I did the performance test Tomcat6.0.16/JDK6.
I got OutofMemory Error only after 10 minutes.
As HeapSize was 256MB, I changed 512MB.
The result was OutofMemory Error.
Finally I found the appropriate HeapSize, 728MB.
I did various combination.
When I did the performance test, HeapSize wad 256MB.
Test file is a simple JSP file.
Tomcat5.5 + JDK 5 - baseline
Tomcat5.5 + JDK 6 - the same performance to the baseline
Tomcat6.0 + JDK 5 - OutofMemory Error after 10 minutes
Tomcat6.0 + JDK 6 - OutofMemory Error after 10 minutes
I got heapdump on Tomcat6.
ConcurrentHashMap used 46% of Heap!!
Was this result strange??
Tomcat6 used java.util.concurrent.ConcurrentHashMap but Tomcat5.5 didn't.
Tomcat5.5 called HashMap not ConcurrentHashMap.
As StandardSesssion calls ConcurrentHashMap, I guess session object is bigger than Tomcat5.5's.
Have you ever heard Tomcat6 needs more HeapSize compared with Tomcat5.5?

the easy way to solve this:
when your java program starts up, start another thread who's sole purpose is to retrieve that information and stick it somewhere.
Then when your main program gets to the setup hopefully that information is available.
Its especially useful if you are displaying a splash screen during startup. You can be doing your background processing (retrieving locale) info during that time.

Unfortunately, Adobe has quit support of earlier version. They have a version of AA9 Pro for Windows posted, but not for the MAC as I understand it. You can try Adobe Acrobat X (10) Pro, Reader, and Suite Direct Download Links | ProDesignTools, but again I can only find PC versions. Someone may drop by with a link or you might see if anyone locally has the CD (that you could get the install file from). You will still need to use your original S/N.

Performance with the new Mac Pros?

I sold my old Mac Pro (first generation) a few months ago in anticipation of the new line-up. In the meantime, I purchased a i7 iMac and 12GB of RAM. This machine is faster than my old Mac for most Aperture operations (except disk-intensive stuff that I only do occasionally).
I am ready to purchase a "real" Mac, but I'm hesitating because the improvements just don't seem that great. I have two questions:
1. Has anyone evaluated qualitative performance with the new ATI 5870 or 5770? Long ago, Aperture seemed pretty much GPU-constrained. I'm confused about whether that's the case anymore.
2. Has anyone evaluated any of the new Mac Pro chips for general day-to-day use? I'm interested in processing through my images as quickly as possible, so the actual latency to demosaic and render from the raw originals (Canon 1-series) is the most important metric. The second thing is having reasonable performance for multiple brushed-in effect bricks.
I'm mostly curious if anyone has any experience to point to whether it's worth it -- disregarding the other advantages like expandability and nicer (matte) displays.

"For an extra $200 the 5870 is a no brainer." I agree on a pure cost basis that it's not a hard decision. But I have a very quiet environment, and I understand this card can make a lot of noise. To pay money, end up with a louder machine, and on top of that realize no significant benefit would be a minor disaster.
So, the more interesting question is: has anyone actually used the 5870 and can compare it to previous cards? A 16-bit 60 megapixel image won't require even .5GB of VRAM if fully tiled into it, for example, so I have no ability, a priori, to prove to myself that it will matter. I guess I'm really hoping for real-world data. Perhaps you speak from this experience, Matthew? (I can't tell.)
Background work and exporting are helpful, but not as critical for my primary daily use. I know the CPU is also used for demosaicing or at least some subset of the render pipeline, because I have two computers that demonstrate vastly different render-from-raw response times with the same graphics card. Indeed, it is this lag that would be the most valuable of all for me to reduce. I want to be able to flip through a large shoot and see each image at 100% as instantaneously as possible. On my 2.8 i7 that process takes about 1 second on average (when Aperture doesn't get confused and mysteriously stop rendering 100% images).
