Need some help archiving and photos that are in multiple collections.

After creating a new catalog for photos from a collection, I'd want to remove the photos from Lightroom and keep on disk. In the collection, there are some photos that are in multiple other collections and I'd want to keep those images in their other collections and so not removed them from Lightroom.
Need some advice on how to easily identlfy those images that are in other collections and thus might not want to remove those images from Lightroom.

Well, Bob, that works, but agreeing with Geoff, I don't think this is the best solution to the problem; in fact I don't even think this is a good solution to this problem.
If there isn't a lot of space left, and the user wants to do something about the photos in those collections, then the photos should be moved (in Lightroom, or via this process: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm) to a different drive. This generates more free space on the SSD drive. The photos remain in the Lightroom catalog, and they remain in the multiple collections that they are in now.
MrhoniKeith -- your photos probably should not go on the SSD in the first place. Photos ought to be stored on a normal hard drive, not an SSD. You can move them to a regular hard drive en masse, freeing up plenty of space on the SSD via this method: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm. This is the BEST solution to your problem -- keep everything in a single catalog, with photos on a normal hard disk. The idea of having multiple catalogs to help free up space on one drive works opposite to the best practices of using Lightroom, in which most people recommend using a single catalog for all of your photos, except in special cases where the photo's contents are completely non-overlapping, for example Personal and Business catalogs.
Removing photos from some collections but not others will NOT free up space. That's not how Lightroom works. Lightroom has not made multiple copies of your photos for each collection. Deleting photos from collections will NOT free up space.

Need some help with a Photo. RGB to CMYK.

I took a good friend of mines Senior photos and the yearbook requires them to use CMYK colors, like most things that are being printed.
Whenever I do the conversion via Photoshop CS5 everything looks fine, the image looks great. Here's the image in RGB:
Now when I upload it to any site, be it tumblr, tinypic etc etc it turns out looking like crap:
I was fully aware that there would be some loss of quality when I did the conversion but seriously, what am I doing wrong? Is it just because my monitor uses RGB?

First, some corrections:
- I did a quick test in Firefox and it does NOT show the image correctly. This could be because the embedded profile is V4 ICC (Firefox currently only supports V2 ICC) or because Firefox just doesn't like CMYK.
- Safari DOES show the colors OK but the gamma appears to be off a bit. The image appears slightly washed out.
Anyway, if it wasn't clear from my first post CMYK is for printing at a profressional print shop or using a very high-end printer at home. A typical home inkjet printer is CMYK internally but includes the hardware translation to make it look RGB to the application. CMYK is not meant for online viewing so you will likely run into the problems I mentioned above if you try to do that.
You really, really need to talk to the yearbook people, either at the school or directly with the company that prints the yearbook to pin down wahat they need. We can all speculate here about all the different possibilities but that is the only way you will be sure. Even talking to the yearbook folks, I would try to talk to 2 or 3 people and then average their responses to get a high probability of a correct answer. Color management can be a rather complicated thing and even some print shops struggle with CM concepts out of their comfort zone, let alone a junior or senior in high school.
For what it's worth, it is hard for me to believe that a yearbook company would not be able to accept an RGB image in the sRGB colorspace. But as I said, that is just speculation so check with the yearbook folks.

Badly need some help: SMS and MMS App DISAPPEARED

Call your server and ask them about the .m4v file extension. They may need to update some files or you may need to edit your asp code that calls the file.

How can I go back to Firefox 3.6. I can only find the 4.0 upgrade and I need some of old add ons that are not available on 4.0 plus can't seem to post to Craiglist. I keeps crashing.

I had the same problem (issue with Google Apps and XUL runner etc) of needing to downgrade. To pull it off I went to the main Firefox download page (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/) and followed the link to OTHER SYSTEMS AND LANGUAGES which took me to a page that included a link on the right hand side to download Firefox 3.6.16.
(The stuff below pertains to Windows. If you are on a different OS your steps will vary)
To do the actual downgrade (and there may be some other steps that would be wise to take but this is what worked for me) I merely renamed "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" to "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox bad" (in case I want to try troubleshooting the issue later) and then ran the "Firefox Setup 3.6.16.exe" file that downloaded from that link. That solved my problem and I'm back and running 3.6.16.
In case you don't feel comfortable changing things in your Program Files directory you might try a different approach and try uninstalling via the Control Panel and Add and Remove Programs (or whatever it is called on the version of Windows you are on) and then running the installation file. I didn't go that route so I can't tell you how well that might work.

Although vlc mentioned above is a much more powerful and better player you could try installing Perian if you insist on using the quicktime player. It may supply the codec it needs.
Not sure why you wouldn't be able to play straight avi files though in quicktime.

Resetting the settings will reset things like the wallpaper to the default. It wont remove the apps or music.
As the previous poster said, the apps and music will be tied to the previous owners Apple ID, you'll need the password to update the apps and remain authorized to play the music.
I would suggest taking your stuff off (the camera pictures) then erasing all content and settings so the iPad is like new. For privacy reasons alone I would erase the device. I realise you want to keep the music, but since you haven't paid for it (it was purchased under someone elses ID) then it isn't yours to keep, you'll need to write down the tracks and purchase them under your ID.

Ask in the ID forum and be much more specific about your configuration. there could be any number of reasons why manifests, temp files or restore files are created.

FCP7 HELP - Exported quicktime mov plays differently than what I edited on the timeline. The playback shows the clips with ins and outs that are different than what I set in the clips when I edited - some are too early and the clips don't playback

Please help ASAP.
Specs: IOS 10.6.8
Processor 2.4GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 -- Everything is edited, sourced, and stored on an 2TB external hard drive to make things go faster.

When I export the sequence I edited with quicktime, the playback video is very different from what I edited on the timeline. The playback has the clips with ins and outs that are way off than what I cut, and some of the clips don't show at all or have changed transitions. However when I play in the timeline in FCP, the sequence is fine, just the way I cut it.
The source of the clips was one long .mov that I cut into clips for the timeline. Everything has gone smoothly but the exported .mov is just so different.
How can I get the time codes of the clips to be the same in the exported .movs? I just want the quicktime .mov to represent my edit exactly.
This video is due tomorrow - if the solution is too time consuming, can I play within the FCP player window and Log and Capture?

What is your source material? Is it H.264? FCP does not work correctly with that material.
Click on a source clip in the FCP Browser, and once selected, type Command + 9 to see the item properties for the clip. Either report those properties, or take a screen shot of the item properties, and post that here.
Next, click anywhere in your timeline, and then type Command + 0 {zero} to see your Sequence Settings. Either report those Sequence Settings, or take a screen shot of the Sequence Settings and post that here.

Ok, so in had to do this to my iPad because it crashed. if you are okat restoring your phone, you need to put it into dfu mode.
1 Hold both lock and home button until screen goes dark
2 once I'd does, not immidietly but a little bit after (don't wait to long because it will restart) let go of the power button (still holding the home button)
3 hold old that for about 10 secs. Your phone screen will be black
4 plug into iTunes. iTunes will detect it and say "iphone in recovery mode" just press restore and if you have a backup, use that
When I first learned how to do this, it took me a few tries but it works really well and it is a nice thing to know how to do

There is no such thing as an "unlock code" for an iPhone. It's done through iTunes after being approved by the carrier it is locked to.
Go back to the carrier it is locked to and find out what the status is. If you paid someone else to unlock it, you got ripped off.
