Need suggestion regarding drop down...

hi ,
i have a dropdown list having some values.I wana compare the length of the values of dropdown list to null.
i tried this
for (var i=0 ; i<=DropDownList1.length;i++);
var s = DropDownList1.getDispalyItem(i);
if(s.length ==null)xfa.host.messageBox("the length of the selected value is null");
else xfa.host.messageBox(" Not NULL\n in this case i have written a piece of code to execute");
thing is i am using Live Cycle Designer ES but that length function is not giving the length of the drop down list...
Please suggetst any idea what to do ?????

The length function works fine you have a typo
incorrect var s = DropDownList1.getDispalyItem(i);
correct var s = DropDownList1.getDisplayItem(i);

Need suggestion regarding drop RAC database of 11g

Hi All,
I have 11gR2 RAC environment setup. Database required recovery and I have no backup, based on support engineer guidance I restore the database using some hidden parameters though its a corrupted db so I need to rebuild. For rebuild purpose I took expdp of entire database and then drop it. I had drop through "dbca" , db was open and I run "dbca" and select drop database option, at one time it showing me warning/error ORA-01586:database must be mounted EXCLUSIVE and not open for this operation but after that drop was run perfectly.
but when I check the ASM disk status , it still show as it is , I mean no change in their free_space column, I also verified through asmcmd command and all the Datafiles are still there.
I want to cleanup asm disk which are still fillup with dbfs and I thought that would be cleared by dropping database but no my assumption was wrong.
can any one suggest me what to do if I want to make free space in asm disk which was allocated for dbf files?

Need help with Drop Down Menu _ URGENT!!

I'm new to Dreamweaver. I actually have an old version
(Dreamweaver MX 2004).
I'm updating a website for work and this needs to be done as
soon as possible so I'd appreciate if anyone can be so kind as to
shed light on ANYTHING. =/
This is what I need:
I need a drop down menu; when a selection is chosen, I need
information regarding that selection to appear on the bottom of the
page. (I am working off an Excel sheet - it has list of service
descriptions along w/ the unit price, frequency & other fields.
So If I chose "database hosting" off the drop down list,
information would be generated (ie. it's corresponding unit price,
frequencies, etc.)
I've attached an example of a code but I cannot use that code
(which has JavaScript) to tweak what I need exactly.
I am VERY new to this so if anybody can help be out I would
GREATLY appreciate it.

In plus i have four parameters with searchlight options, the problem is when i select "Finance" from DEPT2 and in the next selection level i'm seeing all the departments "Accounting,Asset Management and Bridge Dsgn Insp Hyd" insted of just "Accounting". What i want is if i select a department in DEPT2, in the next drop down list(DEPT3) i want to see only the departement corresponding to the one i selected in dept2. Please need help.

First of all you need to be using Discoverer 10g or 11g Plus not 9.0.4. Assuming you have the right version you need to present the parameters in the correct order. You can change the order on the parameters screen by selecting Tools | Parameters from the toolbar. You then use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to place them in the right order so that DEPT1 is offered first, followed by DEPT2, then DEPT3 and then DEPT4.
Next, you need to check the radion button on the bottom of the right-hand side that allows linking of parameters then you make DEPT2 dependent upon DEPT1, with DEPT3 dependent upon DEPT2 and so on.
While this works without hierarchies it works best when you have a hierarchy in place and even better when there is a composite index on the 4 items.

Advice needed on the Drop-down box description.

There are lots of postings on how to get the drop-down box working and there's even a How-to guide called Dropdown boxes. However, I have a field (defined using the AET tool) which has an Search help assigned, so the drop-down list is automatically displayed for me. Having said that I'm still bemused as to how it works as there's no code in the P and V Getter methods.
Anyway, that aside, the dropdown box is working fine, as mentioned, but I also have the description field to populate with the description of the value returned by the drop-down box. In my case it's a Department code and associated description.
Initially, I inserted code in the SET_DEPT method to lookup the description (using a SELECT statement) and place the result in the DEPT_DESC field. However, this method is not being called, I don't think, or at least my break point is not being reached.
So I'm looking for somewhere to place the code which will be called when the DEPT field changes value, and I can then lookup the description and populate the DEPT_DESC field.. Both the DEPT and DEPT_DESC fields are in the same context node by the way.
It's a real pity that when you create new fields in the AET tool you can't relate one field to another or somehow use a search help and say that the source is another field and this field will hold the result, or something like that.

For your case, I'd like to suggest you take standard coding for example.
That is the categorization in service ticket view in IC_AGENT role.
When select the first category, if the second category only has one value, it will be automatically set. which should be similar to your requirement.

If the first field is not a dropdown, for example a field with F4 help, after select the value from the popup, there will be event SELECT_OBJECT triggered for the view I tested.
You may put breakpoint in do_handle_event for the controller class and observe what event was triggered.
Then make the relevant coding.

Need suggestion regarding File compression and splititng

Hi,
I want to split and compress the big files into small chucks. On later any standard zip utility i.e. winzip, 7z etc can merge(extract) all the chunks to generate the original file. I am looking for any java library which provide the split and compression functionality.
As Java also supports in built compression utility. Should I use those library or any other open source is available to do this? I welcome your suggestion regarding how can I start.

If you're just looking for something to be used internally, it'd be pretty simple:
1. Open your source InputStream.
2. Create a standard read/write loop to pump the stream.
3. Add a counter that determines how much you've pushed into your current target. After you reach a certain value, close your current target, create a new target stream, and reset the counter.
4. Conclude by closing your source and your current target.
For compression, you can use the built-in GZIPOutputStream or a third-party library of your choice. I usually find GZIP sufficient for my needs.
Of course, if you want the output to be compatible with other programs like 7-Zip, you've got a lot more work on your hands complying with the file format spec. :)

Need help with Drop down cells on IPAD Numbers

Im new in this forum and Im not god writing, so sorry for my english.
I have a question about using Drop down cells on Numbers in the IPAD version. In Numbers I normally can use drop down cell but some days ago i bought the IPAD and Iwork suit, and i import some numbers documents that I have done. When I tried to drop the menu of a cell I could not.
I would like to know is their is a way to see this type of menus on IPAD Numbers.

Help needed on linking drop down boxes

Hello there,
I am using adobe life cycle designer 8 to make forms. These forms are usesd to collect information on persons working in the healthcare industry.
I want to use drop down lists that are "connected". Depending on the choice made in the first dropbox, the user will get new options in the second dropbox.
Example:
Dropbox 1
Values
- value 1
- value 2
- value 3
Dropbox 2
If user choses value 1, they can chose the following values in dropbox 2:
- Value A
- Value B
If user choses value 2, they can chose the following values in dropbox 2:
- Value C
- Value D
If user choses value 3, they can chose the following values in dropbox 2:
- Value E
- Value F
I have been puzzeling for a while, but cannot find the solution for this.

I need help with drop down lists

I have a form that does not have lots of space and I want to use drop down lists to fill in specific information that describes site conditions. The problem I have is that the drop down list is only set up for a single line and that is not enough space for what I want in the drop down list. In other words, I have items that are several sentences. I have seen some descriptions of creating a drop down list that then fills in a text box that has multiple lines. Unfortunately, that is not an ideal solution for me. I just want the drop down list to select a single phrase. Here is an example of what I want to be able to select in the drop down.
The water heater spilled flue gases in excess of 5 minutes under worst case conditions. The combusiton testing was completed with in 30 days of the invoice submittal.
The form does not allow me to create a field that goes all the way across the page so it needs to look something like this:

I have three items that are very similar in length and text for each drop down. There are 9 drop downs right now. I am using the drop downs to fill in a form that is used by several people and I want to keep things as simple as possible. Associated with the drop down already is a check box. When the check box is checked, it fills in a text box with a score (1 point, 5 points, etc). That score then tallys for a total with all the other scores in another text box. Using a drop box to fill in a text box is just getting to busy and than I have to distinguish each drop down item so it is clear which text you are selecting.

Iam trying to create the drop down list. Well, I got some programs, creating these lists for both parameter and ranges on the selection screen.

Need help with drop down menu

Hi guys,
I'm using div's for the main navigation of my site and want to create a drop down for the first two buttons. All the tutorials I have seen have been for using unordered lists but I need to use divs for this navigation set (long story!).
Can anyone help me get them set up please? Ideally I would like the drop downs to fade in but it's not essential. I take it I need to create an absolutely positioned div where I want my drop downs to appear, is that correct? - but then where do I go from there?

Thank you for the reply.
I had the main nav as an unordered list to begin with but for some reason I didn't find them as easily controllable as the div's i.e. setting widths and heights etc. as I wanted each button to have a set width, instead of just having text with padding. Originally I had the button divides set as border left and right strokes but for some reason they weren't adding up, I think because of the padding I had on them. I know you can set these with unordered lists but opted for divs in the end!
