Need to delete someone's "old" email address.

I was typing someone's name into a new email when 2 possible addresses appeared.
One was an old one but did not appear in my Address Book.
It would seem that it was being accessed from an old email.
I would like to get rid of it so that it does not cause any confusion in future.
How do I delete it?

Yes, it's a real pita the last couple of days.  The servers aren't sync'd very well lately.
I've had to resort to posting something or using the rss feed to see the last posts in a thread.
Hope they fix this soon....

  • How to delete sender's old email address

Using Mail, Smart addresses picks the old email address even though I've edited Address Book and put in the new one.

Try this: click Previous Recipients under the Window menu in Mail and edit the addresses.

  • Deleting old email addresses so they no longer pop up in MAIL program

    Hello,
I'm running the Apple Mail program, Version 2.1.3, on an iMac, with operating system version 10.4.11.
When I compose an email using Mail, and a type the first few letters of a person's name, the program automatically completes the email address for me for that person. However, some email addresses for my friends have changed, and I have entered their new addresses into the Address Book program; however, the old email address has not gone away, and continues to pop up in that line, along with the new address, too, as options of addresses to send to.
How do I permanently delete someone's old email address, so that it no longer pops up in the Mail program?
    Thank you,
    George

    gg3, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Open the Address Book. In the Name column, are there two entries for the person's name - one showing the old address & another showing the new address? If so delete the old Name/address.
If there is only one name entry, click once on the Name to highlight, then click on Edit (at bottom of window). Then a window opens for that person. Go to the "home" line & click on the arrows. Are more than one email address listed? If so, delete the old address.
     Cheers, Tom

  • How do I delete old email addresses that pop up in the log?  A few have childhood nicknames that appear on the To line of an email.  I need to change them to grownup names.  How do I edit that log?

How do I delete (or edit) the email addresses that show up on the log of prior sent items?  Several of the names are for childhood nicknames, and I need to have them updated to show adults--e.g., no more "Susie," but now should be "Susan."  How do I edit (or delete and start over) with this log of outgoing addressees?

You can edit in Contacts.app. After editing, delete the contact in Previous Recipients
Under Window in the Menu bar when Mail is open, select Previous Recipients.

my old email address was hacked and I am no longer able to access it. How can i reset my icloud ID without losing all of my pictures and more importantly contacts? I have created a new ID but i cannot seem to use it until I delete the old account

You need to use the old ID and password to delete the iCloud account. After you delete the old account, you can sign in with the new ID in iCloud.
    Have you seen this.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5796
    iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.

    des7931,
You should be able to go to your software on your computer and click on the >Scanner Actions section.
Then click on>Scan to E-Mail Wizard
This should bring up a screen to edit, change, or delete the stored email addresses for scan to email.

I deleted my old email address and added a new one, after my iPhone died iCloud keeps popping up asking for the password of my old email address. I can't remember my password and the account is still gone, it pops up every few seconds. How can I fix this?

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

  • Delete the iCloud account associated with an old email address no longer in use...Help!

I am trying to delete the iCloud account on my iPhone that is associated with an old email address no longer in use, so I can set it up with my new email address.   I am unable to delete the account until I turn off "Find my iPHone" which it won't let me do unless I log in under the old email address.....  Problem is, I don't remember the password for the old address/account.   It is no longer functional so I cannot request a reminder.  I've already updated my iTunes/Apple ID with my new email address. I'm stuck!!  Help!

You remember the answers to the security questions or you call Apple, talk to someone in account security, and prove to them that you own the account.

  • Want to delete an old email address

I Would like to delete an email address that I used to use to access all Apple services

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPad, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • HT2204 Changed e-mail address & Apple ID, verified by Apple. Itunes changed but cannot get Messages, Facetime or Icloud. Keep on throwing up old email address & won't accept new or old password.  Help needed!

Changed e-mail address & Apple ID. Verified by Apple. Itunes & email working but cannot access Messages,Facetime & Icloud. Keep throwing up old email address & wont accept either new or old passwords. Anyone got a solution?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.
