I need to install windows on my mac
I'm an architect and have found myself needing to use Revit at home, obviously to do this I need to install windows on my mac. After doing some research I've decided to use Parallels to run Windows. My plan is to buy an external hard drive, install Parallels on my Mac and then run Windows as a Parallels Virtual Machine from the external hard drive. I know this sounds complicated but I think it will work as long as a get a good external hard drive. has anyone ever tried running windows like this? any advice on a good external hard drive? all helpful comments welcome!
These are my details
MacBook Pro, 15-inch, Early 2011
Processor:2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
Software: OS X 10.8.2
Thank you!I have tried it before with USB 2.0 external hard drive. In case you are going to use USB external hard drive then I think the performance will be better if you put the Windows on the local hard drive instead of external since the early 2011 MBP USB port is not 3.0 yet.

Need help installing snow leopard on mac mini 10.5.8 intel based
I need help need help installing snow leopard on mac mini 10.5.8 intel based so if u kno how pls message me thanks
<Email Edited by Host>You need to purchase the upgrade disk (it is a DVD). Then just put it in and run the installer. When it was first released it was $29 USD, do not know if the price has changed or not.
The usual precautions about backing up your data apply. In fact I would recommend either making a Disk Image of your current boot drive or using something like Carbon Copy Cloner to copy it to an external drive. I upgraded 5 machines from Leopard to Snow Leopard without any issues, but better to be safe than sorry. -
Do I really need to install Adobe on my mac?
I can't watch videos on my mac so I install Adobe. I'm just wondering if I really need to install adobe or do mac do have a flash player?
If you wish to watch Flash based videos, yes you will need Flash installed on your Mac. It is ONLY available from Adobe. Any other site, or invitation from a pop-up to install/update Flash will most likely cause problems.

What software do I need to install on my I Mac OS X Lion so it will read downloaded PES files?
I have a new Brother DreamWeaver sewing machine which I need to download designs on my computer to use on the sewing machine. I have an IMac OS X Lion and it cannot read the downloads. What I need to know is what software do I need to install to enable my computer to read these downloads?
Does the Mac meet the hardware requirements for Lion
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
If everything works perfectly then your data should be safe. I don't know about you but I am never going to trust my data to everything working perfectly so I always backup first.
The next step is to buy a Snow Leopard DVD and install it
Once you have upgraded to 10.6.8 so that you have the App Store for Lion then you can purchase and install Lion.

Just looking for some info on how installing windows as well as iOS works and wether they work well together.. All feed back will be much appreciated.
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
with OS X.
3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows. The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive. -
What OS do I need to install first on my Mac after a HD wipe?
Hi, I am doing my annual HD wipe on a 2008 iMac and I keep forgetting which OS is the most recent that I can install FIRST. If i recall correctly I couldn't just put Mavericks on last time, I needed Mountain Lion or Snow Leopard (can't remember which). I have Mavericks now, but I am planning on going to Yosemite. Also, if there is anyone with a computer as old as mine that has an argument on why i should NOT upgrade to Yosemite, please let me know. Thanks.
current computer :
imac 24"
Early 2008
Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 6 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Software OS X 10.9.5If you made a bootable USB drive of your Mavericks installer, you can boot to that and install Mavericks directly. There's no need to install an older OS first. Likewise, if you have a separate bootable drive with the downloaded Mavericks .dmg installer anywhere you can get at it, you can run the installer from there, then choose the erased drive as the target to install Mavericks too. Again, without having to install an older OS there beforehand.
Macs with 4GB of RAM are not faring well with Yosemite. More features means more hardware requirements. You have 6GB, which may be alright for Yosemite, though I would personally recommend 8 as a real use minimum. -

Hi Footy,
For Error 42404 with iTunes on Mac OS X 10.4.x it looks like you need to download and install iTunes 9.2.1.
iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3

You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Note: iTunes 9.2.1 is the highest iTunes version available for Mac OS X v10.4. iTunes 10.6.3 is the highest iTunes version available for Mac OS X v10.5.

Need help installing Flash Player in Mac OSX 10.9.2
I`ve tried everything, my computer is brand new, and it`s driving me crazy. Tried installing, uninstalling, everything. Was able to install a previous version by dragging the .pkg file to the desktop, but when i try to use safari, it disables the program because of security incompatibility. Please if anyone has had the same problem and fixed it, let me know. Exactly at 50% progress, it crashes and a message to close safari appears, but safari is already closed.
Finally Got it!!! Ok, here is what i did: it was a combination of two things i read in different forums.
1st: Go to System Preferences>Security and Privacy and in the "allow apps downloaded from: " section, select "Anywhere". There is a file in the installation bundle from adobe that is not recognized as coming from an "identified developer". I then went back to the adobe page and re downloaded most recent flash player. Tried to reinstall it, and again the same problem as before. Stopped at 50% asking to close Safari. So i did the following:
2nd: This time instead of closing Safari by pressing the red button X, I pulled down the safari tab and clicked on exit safari command. Clicked the retry button on the installation window and magic!!!! it worked.
Finally after 5 frustrating hours it worked.... I never thought i would run in to such a problem with a brand new Mac.... with the money i paid for it, would expect much easier performance in the upgrading process.... and compatibility with adobe.... an issue that should have been resolved long ago. I guess its a problem on both sides.... some clearer instructions for upgrade would be greatly appreciated. -

Does anyone know why my computer will not read newer SD cards. I have a reader that read early cards fine but not the new ones.
How many GB is your new card?
Older machines have SD card slot, new machines have SDX card slot.

No need to Install antivirus for Mac?
We no need to Install Anti Virus for Mac Book?
If NO ,How to scan data when Insert external HD?
If YES ,Do we have any good antivirus sw for mac?
Thanks in advanceFor the full story, see my Mac Malware Guide.
Note that connecting an external hard drive is not a significant source of concern with the types of malware that are out there right now, unless you got the drive from a real bonehead who might have copied some malware installers onto it. That's very unlikely.
Also, note that you'd be wise to turn off Java in your web browser and ensure that all Java updates are installed, due to the appearance of Flashback.G a few weeks ago. See Flashback using Java vulnerabilities and Flashback infections becoming widespread.
