Need to install older version of Quick TIme

I have an iMac running 10.6.7. I want to run a program (Kids Pix) that has components that are not compatible with the newer versions of Quick Time. If I, as Broderbund suggested, install the older version will that 1. override my new version? 2. cause the new version not to work properly or not to be the default version?

BTW, you posted in the QuickTime for Windows forum. Normally you'll get the quickest and more applicable responses if you ask in the QuickTime for Mac forum.
Regards.

Walk us through what happened with CleanUp, Michelle. In particular, was there no entry for QuickTime in the list of programs in CleanUp?

  • The Older Version of Quick Time Cannot Be Removed

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. and
The older version of quick time cannot be removed. Itunes requires quick time
Have removed old versions of itunes and quicktime. Deleted folders with reference to apple, ipod, quick time, itunes. Removed reference from registry. Created a new administrator for win xp. None of this works
Downloading the new version is no problem, but installing it stops with the above message

Downloaded and installed Windows Installer Cleanup Program
Selected and completely removed all old Apple components
Installation of Itunes 7 and Quick Time was smooth, no hangups.

  • Cannot install latest version of quick time due to old version cannot be removed from my c drive?

quicktime update cannot be installed because old version cannot be removed

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • ITunes will not load--says I need new version of Quick Time

I've used iTunes for a year and downloaded the new software 7.01--it will not run, says I need to install new version of Quick time. I removed all versions of iTunes off my computer and reinstalled iTunes with same result--Need to install new version of Quick Time. I did this and Quick time said--Can't install because a more current version of Quick time is already installed. Catch 22? Is this a do loop of apple frustration or what? Any ideas would be appreciated.
iTunes used to work great, I'm very disappointed in apple right now.

  • Installing older versions (4&6) of firefox for compatability testing

I need to install older versions of FF in order to do compatibility testing against a web app.
When I look at the index of versions available at http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ I see nothing for version 4 of firefox. What gives? Where can I find the files to install that version. Ditto for version 6

releases.mozilla.org generally just has the most recent updates to each major release; ftp.mozilla.org has every version ever released:

  • I have just installed the new version of quick time but my Itunes is still telling me that it needs quick time to play the film.

Can anyone help me fix my itunes? I have the new version of quick time but it is now telling me it wont play my films on itunes because it needs quicktime. Iv tried un installing quicktime and re installing it but that hasnt worked. I dont know why it would suddenly stop working, I watched something on it this morning.

Can you check something for me please? I'd like to try doing a "Run as administrator" on your iTunes.
    Quit iTunes first.
In Computer, open Local Disk C: or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
If you have a 32-bit Windows, open the "Program files" folder.
If you have a 64-bit Windows, open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
    Open the "iTunes" folder.
Right-click on the iTunes.exe file and select "run as administrator".
Try playing the movie now. Does it play for you without the message?

  • My new PC runs WIn.8.1 plus,..Will the latest version of Quick Time work for me?

I have a recent PC running Windows8.1plus, ..what version of Quick Time do I need?..Will it work?

    Hi robertfromsalt spring island,
    Happy Holidays!
The resource below will explain how to uninstall and re-install Quicktime for Windows if you are having issues with the software.
iTunes 10.5 or later for Windows: Older media files may require QuickTime - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT203459
With iTunes 10.5 or later, QuickTime isn't included when you install iTunes. Although media content purchased or rented from the iTunes Store doesn't need QuickTime to play, you may have older media files that require QuickTime.
    Install QuickTime
If you already have QuickTime installed, you may have to uninstall and reinstall QuickTime.
    Download QuickTime.
    Double-click the downloaded file.
Follow the directions in the QuickTime Installer to complete the installation.
Uninstall QuickTime on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
    Quit QuickTime if it's open.
From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click "Uninstall a program." The Programs and Features Control Panel will open.
If you don't see the "Uninstall a program" link, click Programs and Features.
Select QuickTime from the list of currently installed programs and click Uninstall.
When asked if you would like to remove QuickTime, click Yes.
    Restart your computer.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Installing older versions of ndiswrapper

I happen to be using kernel 3.16, and not know how to compile my own kernel, so I need to install a version of ndiswrapper not available on the AUR right now. Unfortunately, make errors out every time I try building from the sourceforge version.
I am wondering if there's a way to install older versions via the AUR, or if there's anything I might need to compile ndiswrapper that isn't listed in the INSTALL file. Installing old versions via the AUR could also let me get the latest version of ndiswrapper by letting me install kernel 3.17.

Why don't you upgrade to linux 3.17?
Edit: Try to build older versions with http://pkgbuild.com/git/aur-mirror.git/log/ndiswrapper
    http://pkgbuild.com/git/aur-mirror.git/ … 25a9988227 is for linux 3.16.

  • After updating, can I install older version on my second computer?

Updated to Elements 12.  Can I install older version 9 to a second computer so that two projects can be worked on at the same time?

    Yes.
All Adobe software can be installed and activated on a maximum of two computers. That means you can also install PSE12 on the second computer, provided the second computer meets the technical requirements to run PSE12
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/tech-specs.html
PS no need to install PSE9 on a new computer first. Just install PSE12, enter the PSE12 upgrade serial number then enter the PSE9 serial number when prompted.

  • Middle Click suddenly stopped working. I have tried installing older versions , but that does not work. Please note I do not have any addons installed.

It just happened suddenly may be after updating to ff 7.
    I have tried Safe Mode.
I have tried installing older version of FF.
I never had Grease Monkey or Tab mix plus.

What type of mouse? Or is that a laptop touchpad issue?<br />
Does it use the Windows mouse driver, or did you install a mouse driver program? <br />''If it is more than a 2-button mouse with a scroll wheel, it probably needed to have its' own software installed.''

  • Installer not installing older versions

I have several versions of a utility built with Lab Windows CVI (NOT LabView) and I want to allow the users to install older versions when ever they want.
    They can't!!!!!!!
I have older already release versions that I want users to install, when do I need to change to make an older version install over a newer version?????? Is it something in setup.ini?
This has become critical on one computer where the Add/Remove Programs no longer lists this utility. I cannot uninstall the newer version so that I can install the older version. Any ideas what to do about this?
I can't even install the same version, so I had to build a new version (I consider it a fake version, because it is only to uninstall the latest version). I installed this fake version, and I was then able to remove the "latest" version and install the older version.
    So, I have 3 questions:
    1)  How can I change my builds to allow any version to be installed on top of any other version?
    2) How can I fix or uninstall a version that is not in the Add/Remove Programs?
    3) How can I change the installer of already built and released version (some ini file or something) to allow it to install on newer versions?

    Hey Ken,
I'm curious as to what's happening that won't let your users use an older version of the program--do they see an error message of some kind? Generally, as long as the CVI Runtime Engine on the target machine is the same version or newer than the engine the executable was targeted for, it will work. Here's a KnowledgeBase about that: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7F61479A2FD8331D86257257007F5F1B?OpenDocument
Starting in CVI 2012, you can force an executable to use a specific version of the Runtime Engine, and install multiple versions of the RTE on the same machine, as seen in this CVI help file: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051V-01/cvi/usermanual/sidebysideoverview/
    So, to answer your questions:
    1. Changing builds to allow any version to be installed: You should only need to have the newest version of the CVI Runtime installed on the user's machine. So if the user has at some point installed the newer version of the utility, they will have that RTE version. You could also rebuild your older versions to include the newest version of the Runtime Engine. The Runtime Engine is backwards-compatible with executables that were built to target older versions of the RTE.
    2. How can I fix or uninstall a version that is not in Add/Remove Programs: It's unusual for the distribution to not make an entry in Add/Remove Programs. What version of CVI did you create these distributions with, and do the applications appear in the Start menu? You might check the application directory (Most likely C:\Program FIles\<Your Application>, and see if an uninstaller exists there. For older versions of CVI, we included an uninstall utility in the program directory. There should be no problem with having multiple versions of your program installed, though.
    3. How can I change the installer to install on newer versions: Once a distribution kit has been made, it's not possible to change which version of the Runtime Engine is included with that distribution. If you have access to the source files, you can of course create a new distribution which includes that RTE.
I hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any further questions on this issue!

  • I downloaded  reader 11.3, do i need to uninstall older versions ?

i downloaded reader 11.3 ,do i need to uninstall older versions ?

If you have Reader 10.x or 11.x installed, there is no need to uninstall.  Older, or much older versions should be uninstalled before installing a much newer version.

  • What to do if old version of Quick time does not remove?

What to do if old version of Quick Time is unable to be removed to receive update?

What is the version of QuickTime currently installed on the computer? Can you be a little more precise on what you've tryed and any error messages you may be getting? It could be anything from windows administrator permissions, an old windows installer msi file, to a simple setting
