Need to reinstall HP drivers?

After my HP Laserjet 2400dn began to act up I did a permission repair and found an astonishing number of components that needed repairing. As a caution I then ran DiskWarrior and got the bad news - many HP components cannot be repaired.
The simplest thing would be to download the latest drivers, but HP support is stuck in a loop referring me back to a page that says "included with the latest OS".
How do I get the lastest standalone version of the HP printer drivers?
I tried deleting the HP files and then running software update and it simply said everything was up to date...which is odd since I had already deleted some of the corrupted components.

Yes, as good as new. I used the HP uninstaller first to make sure I started with a clean slate. The last system upgrade included print drivers but clearly something went very wrong. The separate download from the link you sent took forever to install, but a permissions repair showed no problems. DiskWarrior says all is good.
Thanks again for your help.

  • I need to reinstall system drivers but have no trackpad/keyboard to do so!!

i have a MacBook Pro and am using mac osx 10.5.4 and win xp pro with sp3
basically, i installed parallels and had problems accessing the internet via win xp (in bootcamp mode)
so i ended up uninstalling all drivers for window to rediscover the system hardware and hopefully help get access working - i have done this many times on pc's (especially just reinstalling the network adapters). i didn't realise that apple installs the drivers for the trackpad and keyboard as thought they are usb connected devices and so when i rebooted win xp again it started installing the driver for the intel cpu first of all - it got to the "continue anyway" window when it doesn't recognise the certificate but i had no mouse or keyboard to click to go ahead. the thing that messed it all up is uninstalling the usb port drivers. win xp is not choosing to reinstall them first of all and even if it did it might require me to give input.
so i am wondering if i can manually copy the drivers to the right place on the bootcamp drive by copying them through my mac desktop (i have access to the drive using paragon ntfs software) or can i edit a file to fool win xp into thinking the drivers are already reinstalled or so that it installs them fully unattended????
i desperately want to get control of my bootcamp install again because i have painstakingly installed tons of my games, securified the system and configured it alot and really am reluctant to reinstall fresh again
PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A WORK AROUND!?????
    thanks in advance guys!
    Steve

is there anyone who can actually help me with this problem!!!!????? Apple, can you???????
is there a way of editing the hardware profiles manually? is the information saved in a file, etc?

  • What drivers do I need to reinstall different OS and where can I download them for ThinkPads T61?

I just accidentally purchased one ThinkPads T61 with Linux OS version.  I don't use Linux so I plan to wipe out Linux and install Windows XP Pro instead.  I have the Windows OS, but as I know I will need to install some drivers afterward to make the notebook work properly.
My question would be: How many and what drivers do I need to reinstall different OS and where can I download them?

  • Pavilion dv9812us - Windows XP reinstall / nForce drivers won't install

I had a funky virus on my Pavilion so I decided I would format and reinstall XP (my computer came with Vista but I'm not really a fan). I see an nVidia splashscreen come and go and then the installshield wizard comes up and loads the installation files... and then disappears. As far as I can tell, the installer crashes every single time I load it. I also tried downloading the unified drivers from nVidia's website, and the same thing happened. So my question is, how can I get these drivers to work? I really need to get my computer working because it is an integral part of my job... so double thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me on this.

OK, I booted into safe mode, removed the old VIA drivers from the %systemroot%\system32\drivers folder, and then saw that the nForce2 drivers from a previous install were in Add & Remove Programs.  I believe that to be my entire problem.  So I uninstalled all NVIDIA drivers.  Rebooted into Safe Mode.  Installed all the 5.10 drivers with success, excluding the sound driver cuz I don't need it.  Rebooted.  Windows hangs during loading screen.  Reset, then I hit F8 and choose Last Known Good Configuration.  Remove all NVIDIA drivers again.  Reboot into Safe Mode.  Install one driver at a time and reboot inbetween.  System hangs because of the IDE driver.  So, choose Last Known Good Configuration again, uninstall all NVIDIA drivers, reboot to Safe Mode, reinstall all drivers but IDE, then boot Windows normally.  Needed to install display driver, as I have a NVIDIA card.  Did that, disabled nwiz and NvMcTray in msconfig as I always do.  Reboot.  My SYSTEM registry hive is corrupted.  So after wiping Linux (which I never use anyway cuz my modem is not Linux compatible) off my other drive and installing Windows and the Internet on it, I found out how to take the registry from a previous Restore Point and copy it to the config folder.  Did that, booted to that drive, had to uninstall and reinstall all NVIDIA drivers again, but it works now.  I don't have tons of System devices like you Fredrik, but I do have 3 Motherboard resources, which is weird.  Whatever.  Thanks for all your help, guys

  • I think I need to reinstall max, but at this point, how?

    First some background...
I'm installing a new digitizer into a PXI-based setup.  I installed NI Scope v3.8.7, as it came with the digitizer and the instructions directed that I should install it, first.  Upon restart (what the instructions said to do after the install) Windows found new hardware (and, per the instructions, I'd NOT installed any new hardware yet.)  Based on the evidence, Windows seemed to need to update many drivers after that new NI Scope installation; after clicking to auto- find them all, one by one, I finally got to the point where the new hardware could finally be installed.  Then, per the instructions again, I powered down and unplugged the PXI chassis etc.  I next installed the new hardware (digitizer.)  Windows responded with the new hardware wizard upon powering it all back up again, and auto found the necessary software.  Following this Windows responded that the new hardware had been installed and was ready to use.  At Windows seemed satisfied.
    Now my issue...
I happily clicked Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), a tool that'd been used for some time in the past, and that's when my turmoil began.  MAX threw an exception, but based on my searches here, NI has never heard of it despite it being known (MAXKnownException....sounds like something known, to me that is.)  Searching some more based on the exception description I found instructions saying I should create a report for NI as well as pass on the log and dump files for the exception.  I was told I could do this (create the HTML report) from the command line, but the most I found I could do from the command line was run MAX.  But this is a problem, because in the target system (I was going through the sequence on a different machine, first,) the PXI system, MAX doesn't run.  Rather, it goes through the motions; it starts, intializes, loads plug ins and then throws the exception that NI doesn't recognize (or so it seems to me.)  Continuing after the exception (on the target machine,) an option given to the user, does no good, for "Devices and Interfaces" doesn't expand; rather, just freezes with an hourglass (I think it was.)
So I'm thinking my next step with this target system should be to reinstall MAX (I just downloaded it, I think -- syscfg120full.exe -- notice how the filename says nothing about MAX???,) but as yet I haven't determined if anything should be uninstalled, first, before reinstalling MAX, particularly MAX itself.  Should the old MAX be uninstalled, first?  Or is it acceptable to reinstall MAX over itself, despite any past learned knowledge with other software?  Does the installer check for old versions and adjust itself, etc?  Is anything I'm saying sounding familiar?  If I shouldn't reinstall MAX to at least have a functioning MAX to work with to get moving with the new hardware, then what should I do instead?  My goal at this stage of the game is to install and test the new hardware, before I start in on the coding, the unknown territory.  Right now what's expected to be functioning doesn't function, so I can't move forward.

    Probably along these lines...

  • I cannot get my HP Officejet 6500A Plus 710N to print in color. I have reinstalled the drivers..

I cannot get my HP Officejet 6500A Plus 710N to print in color. I have reinstalled the drivers.  It used to print in color and just stopped.  I think it may be a settings issue?  I have checked the ink levels and they are all fine. When I print a diagnostic report on print qualify, the black prints well, but there is no color printing.

Okay, I had the same problem. It's most likely your printhead. All you have to due is clean it.
Note: I was sceptical of this approach but can fully attest to it's sound results as it restored my printer back to full functionality. Prior to this the printer only would print Black ink.
The print head is the carriage that holds all of your ink cartridges in the printer. On the 6500A it's super easy to remove. Opent your lid like your changing your ink cartridges. Remove all of your ink cartridges. Once they're out. There is a lever on the left side of the carrier that holdes your ink cartridges. Lift it up and the print head comes right out. Net take your print head to the sink and run it under hot water aiming towards the the four cirles were the ink flows into. Keep running it under the hot water until it is coming out clear. It's okay to run it under the bottom part too infact you'll need to inorder to get it completely rinsed out. Also don't touch the computer metal strips with your hand thought you can run water over them. Once your done rinsing use a blow dryer or a can of compressed air (thats what I did) to dry every thing out. I was able to get everything dry in about 5 minutes or so. Let it sit for a few minutes and check it again for water. I recommend moving it around to get full exposure to insure it is dry. Also if you use a hair dryer try to put it on a cold setting since there ar rubber grommets the surrount the inlet ink ports you wouldn't want to melt them with the hot air etc.. Like I said I used a can of compressed air.  It's important to use a quick method of drying as mentioned otherwise mineral particles could become deposited on the unit. This won't happen with the methods as I've described because the molecules won't be able to bond since your blowint them off. Oh yeah, you'll want to place a clean peice of paper down as your blowing because at first you'll end up with a few black jet marks as your blowing. Also don't wear your favorite white shirt lol.
Okay once it's dry replace the print head carriage back in push the lever down install the ink cartridges. Close the lid then unplug the printer. Wait 5 seconds plug it back in then it will reboot and start its set up procedure kind of like whet you first bought the printer except you won't have to change any of your network or setup setting since they are saved in memory. Also be patient about the set up procedure it seemed very slow for me. Once it finishes you will be prompted to run the printer alignment process. Run the alignment process and you should be all good. If not at least you gave it a shot. If this doesn't work your going to have to pay $60 for a new printer head. Which is not that big of a deal but hey if you can fix it for free why not. If you do decide to buy a new printer head you might find deals online or ebay just make sure it's an Genuine HP print head. And lol use the Genuine HP ink cartridges. Finally make sure you print at least on colored page per month to make sure the ink doesn't clog up in the future.
Remember this suggestion is after you have run the HP clean ink cartridge procedure twice. Sometimes the clean procedure will correct the problem first. Also there is video I watched on YouTube about this just search for "Clean HP 6500 print head. Hope that helps
Once it's all dry just reinstall the printer head carriage

  • TS3299 iTunes was not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes

I've installed iTunes 10.6 on my Windows 7 machine.  Everytime I start it I get this message:  iTunes was not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes.
    Reinstalling iTunes made no difference.
So I found this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3299  and updated the registry like it said and it still didn't work but it also had the effect of making my CD drive no longer work for anything, including playing movies.   Before following those instructions I could read and write cds using Windows Media player.  Fortunately, I had backed up my registry leaf and restored it.
So I've been trying to figure out how to burn a cd from iTunes for close to two months now with no luck.  Does anybody know how to get rid of the above error message?
    Thank you!

  • I need to reinstall the OS but don't have relevant disk?

Hi there, my OS has been having LOADS of glitches lately.  It started when we were trying to get wifi working on a HP printer and I was trying to reinstall the drivers.  The system crashed (we couldn't get past the boot up screen) and we did a permissions repair and disk repair from safe mode.  This got us up and running again but theres a number of issues since (installer.app is not there, some issues using microsoft office and a few other bits)
Anyway we've backed up our stuff and were all aready to do a reinstall from disk but now we can't as I'm running 10.7.4 (lion) and our disk is for snow leopard.
I'd really love some advice.  I'm quite new to mac.  We've had windows PCs for years and I'm fairly familiar with maintenance and reinstalls etc, but only bought our first macbook last year.  It's like learning a foreign language, albeit a really nice one   Any tips on reinstalling and maintenance thereafter would be really appreciated.
    Thanks.

I'd do a clean install from your Snow Leopard discs. Insert Disc 1 and erase and partition your drive and install SL. No need to do a secure erase as you're not selling your computer. After the clean install, you should be able to go back to the App Store and re-download Lion (as you've already purchased it) and install Lion. Then, one by one, start re-installing your apps. Then you can begin copying the files that you've backed up.
Am I right in assuming that you don't have a Time Machine back-up? If you do, after you install Lion, you can simply reboot to the recovery partition (Command-R) and restore your latest back-up. If you don't have a Time Machine back-up, you'll just have to use the clean install. I would suggest that after you do get everything up and running that you either use the external drive that you used to back-up your files as a Time Machine disk or buy another external drive, 2-3x the size of your internal, to create a Time Machine back-up. Some would advise to use something other than Time Machine, such as Carbon Copy Cloner, but I've been with Time Machine since it came out and use it religiously. Has saved me untold number of agonies.
Good luck - if you're not following these instructions perhaps someone will jump in with something more helpful.

  • If I upgrade to Lion from Leopard will I need to reinstall all my programs?

I have a bunch of photo & video editing software as well as some other things such as parallels on installed on my computer. I really don't want to have to reinstall everything all over again. I've tried to search this question, but I'm having one of those "technically challenging" days. For some reason, I can find everything about Lion except this.... I'd really love to upgrade, but if I need to reinstall everything, I don't have time to do right now.
    Thanks so much!

You can upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.5 should run under 10.6. See this list for compatibility with 10.6: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/  You might have to upgrade some drivers for printers, etc.... And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any Power PC applications http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/snow_leopard_installing_rosetta/
To upgrade your iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps from iLife '11 you can get them from the App Store after you've upgraded to 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie or Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote or Numbers from iWork '09 for $20 each.
You can order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM and 5gb of free space on your hard drive. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
Once you are at 10.6.8 you can buy Lion for $29 from the App Store if you have at least a model 2,1 MacBook. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly As for programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

Install the chipset software followed by the display driver prior to any other drivers. Install the Common Modules before any other Toshiba utilities. I have attached the suggested installation order for the European equivalent of your model.

Please uninstall all IDT nad/or Beats drivers and software. Reboot. Use the HP Recovery Manager to reinstall the factory driver. Please see Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8) for instructions. You may also be able to use this HP provided IDT High Definition Audio Driver.

  • Reinstalling Airport drivers

    Hi -
I have a regular BootX boot time kernal panic which i have traced to the attempt to load AirPort Exteme drivers in 10.4.2. What is odd is that after a reboot (or cold boot), I get a KP, have to restart, and my PB is then fine. In other words it only fails every other boot, like clockwork. Booting Commmand-V shows the panic occurs in loading Airport driver.
So I would like to remove and reinstall the drivers. Can anyone advise 1) where I can get the latest drivers/kext files and 2) what I need to do to reinstall?
    Many thx.

The latest drivers are provided by Airport 4.2:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airport42formacosx1042.html
If installing Airport 4.2 fails to solve the problem (which is highly likely), I suspect that only an archive and reinstall of MacOS 10.4 will be necessary to solved your problem.

  • How deal w/ msg: MacOSX10.8.5 msg: Ck w/ developer if Scan wrks w/ this OSX. May need app reinstall

Multi level problem. Use a MacBook Air mid-2012 model w/ OS X 10.8.5 and a HP Photosmart Premium C309a all-in-one (wireless). Have had HP programs present in Applications on the MacBook Air.
    1) Tried to scan by selecting "HP Scan" from Air's Applications list and it did not work - but gave me the following message: "Check w/ developer to make sure HP Scan works w/ this version of OS X. May need to reinstall application. Do updates as well."
    2) Began solution following above message by running Apple Software Update to be sure computer was current. It is. Then I (perhaps wrongly) deleted "Hewlett-Packard (containing HP Programs) and its content from Applications (Command/Delete) before reinstalling the HP application. "Hewlett-Packard" (containing HP programs) is now absent from the computer. Worried, I tried to print a document and found it still printed on the C309a even though the "HP program" is not listed in Applications.  Where did the "Hewlett-Packard" item and the programs it contained go?  Can I retrieve it?  If not, what do I do?
    3) Went to HP Support site and tried to download the Drivers for the C309a but it did not work.
Not sure what all I have messed up, but I think I need to do something(s) to:
    a) Have the HP Photosmart Premium C309a is installed/present on the computer.
    b) Have the Drivers for the HP Photosmart Premiun C309a are installed/current on the computer.
    c) Know how to scan using the MacBook Air OS X 10.8.5 and the HP Photosmart Premium C309a.
    Solutions?

    Hi rahimac,
I understand that you removed the Hewlett Packard folder from your computer.  I am assuming that you upgraded your Mac system to the OS X 10.8.5. You can only get the updates to this operating system, therefore you will be unable to get the HP driver software. I am including this link for 'How to Scan: OS X v10.8' http://bit.ly/1ff06JU
I hope this information helps, please let me know.

But do I need remove the old drivers first to avoid any problems in the future? Or do I just run the setup executable of every driver?

Run the setup and check if the new one are installed; if not remove the old drivers and install the new.
