Need urgent help with preview (not sure where this goes)

Hi,
Ok so I have a Mac OSX and I was editing one of the best pictures I have ever drawn, I have spent weeks working on it! I was absolutely finished it and admiring it in Preview and I was using Sketchbook Pro to edit it. Suddenly Sketchbook Pro quit working then I force quit it thinking nothing would happen! Then Preview stopped working and I quit that too. When I clicked to reopen the file I could not open it! The pop up reads when I try to open it that the file may be damaged or use a file format that is not recognized by Preview. Also the icon before was a small preview of what the picture looked like and then it was turned to the default image of preview. Preview could previously open it and now it can't, the file format the picture was in was .tiff and I checked if preview could open any other tiffs and it CAN! I hadn't activated Time Share either so I can not go back before my file was damaged. This is so maddening and I hope I will not have to start all over again! Please help me!!!!

I thought you might have saved it at the transitional spot iCloud. This transitional spot iCloud automatically saves changes. If it is not there and you dont have a backup of it, I wish i knew more. Sorry. This is my open screen in preview.

JSP default error page - not sure where this goes

So I am not sure where the jsp section of the forums is but Ill post here ....
Any ways I dont like the look and feel of the current default error page when you throw an error on a jsp so i created my own cutom error page and set that as isErrorPage="true" then in the header.jsp I placed errorPage="error.jsp."
It doesnt work.
I have a jsp, a servlet and the error page. the jsp sends information to the servlet which sends the result back. if that servlet throws an error then it should be displayed on the error.jsp page where I told it to...How ever - it just goes to the default error page.
How do I fix this.
Sorry if this doesn't belong here not sure where else to put it. and in theory - it is java.

And even if it was possible, it's not something that could be recommended.
A normal way would be to catch the exceptions in your servlet and handle them there (log the exception and redirect to an error page).

How do I change my settings (name that's displayed, email address, etc.)? I tried the preferences, but when I clicked "edit my preferences" the window where it's displayed is locked.

Are you talking about your preferences here, in the forums? If so then go to the main Support page. Down in the lower right hand corner you'll see, I Need to Update My Contact info. Click the link and follow the steps.

Not sure where this goes but...Firefox

Hi all,
I've installed Firefox, and when I log in/start up Mac OSX 10.4.11 Firefox starts. Also, the program always generates a window, upon startup, where the program wants me to add Firefox to my apps folder - this is already done. Why does it want to keep doing this? How can I get this window to stop appearing? How can I get Firefox to stop automatic start-up?

Go to System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items tab and remove Firefox, i.e. select it and click the minus ( - ) sign.

Need urgent help with Ifs1.1 on Solaris

We have installed IFS 1.1 with Oracle 8.1.7 on a three tier System (two Suns). We use JWS as WebServer. When we start IFS and JWS everything seems to work fine. But after some time (irregulary) we are not able to contact the JSP-Sites via a bowser. After restarting JWS, everything works fine for some time.
Sometimes it happens (about one times a day), that the whole JWS crashes (JWS-Admin doesn't work). So we have to restart the whole IFS.
What can be the problem? We need urgent help, because the deadline for our project is Wednesday.
By the way:
Where do I have to start CTX on the IFS- or the Oracle-Side?

Yes, we tried the Oracle HTTP - Server, but we weren4t able to get it to work. We didn4t get our JSP-Files to work with it. But that is another issue. I think it4s not a problem of JWS, but IFS.
Additionally it is strange, that we are still able to connect to the database via SqlPlus.
IFS works fine for about 15 minutes, than it crashes, nothing works anymore. We found following errors in the IfsAgents.log:

Need urgent help with HSDIO hardware timing

Hi everyone,
I need urgent help regarding HSDIO hardware timing. I've been working in a project which generating serial ramp using HSDIO pxie device.
I'm using clock rate 40MHz and generating 14 bit of boolean for each step of ramp. And I have to generate simply 256 steps ramp.
Which means, 256 (steps) x 14 (boolean array) x 25 ns (period of 1 boolean value) = 89,6 ns.
What I'm doing right now is with using index of FOR loop as my input data (converting the index into 14bit boolean), then write into pxie device in every iteration,
which means, my data is getting into output in every 1ms time, right? (I'm using windows)
And I want to be able to generate faster than that.
How can I prewrite my 256 steps ramp, then write them all at once into pxie device. I'm really stuck here.
In the picture can you see how I do the write into device in every iteration of FOR Loop.

hi, thanks for responding.
with using example of dynamic generation with script, I can manage to generate the ramp with controllable delay (generate the whole waveform, including delay with script command, then write to the card).
But I still have 1 question, I can test the output of the generation using oscilloscope and cant see the start delay (I'm writing delay at the start, before generating the ramp). My signal generated at 0 sec.
How can I check this start delay? is there any good example delivered with Labview to check this generation? Somehow I cant use the "dynamic generation and acquisition" example to see my generation (cant figure out how to capture the generated signal).

Then also have the ability to print. I have just purchased Photoshop Elements 6 & waiting for delivery, not sure if this program can do Abstract art.

Need urgent help with communicating with the HP 4155B analyser with Labview

i folks,
I'm currently trying to communicate with our HP 4155B semiconductor pamaremter analyser. I do not have experience with GPIB yet. I have installed the NI VISA.
I was wondering if anyone could help with getting me started on how to start communicating with the device using Labview.

I was wondering if it's possible to to setup a data measurement (I-V Sweep) and be able to read the measurement data in realtime as it is being measured. So I basically see the graph updating itself on the PC during the measurement.
Is this possible? Could anyone give advice on how I can go about this or are there any examples that can help me understand how to do this?
I'm not completely sure how to initialise the instruemnt for communication and handle VISA WRITEs and READs. within LabView

Need urgent help with application please

Hi i have a project for school. The application is a ball that bounces around in the frame and everytime it hits a wall it changes color and a popup menu is needed to change background color and to change the speed of the ball. I have so far got the ball to bounce and change color everytime it hits a wall and i also have a popup menu to change background color but im having trouble putting slow and fast modes on the popup menu. Below is my source code. Thread.sleep(10) is what determines the speed but i cant get it to be on the popup menu. Can somebody please help me. Thanks

I honestly don't know. I never had this Exception.
But look at the API:

Obviously, Java doesn't like what you do with your thread. Altogether, I'm not sure if your design isn't flawed. Basically, you pause your whole application regularly, so that it seems that you have a regular time flow. This is like doing slow motion on your DVD player by constantly pressing "play" and "pause".
Think about using the swing timer instead:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/javax/swing/Timer.html
So, instead of binding your moving object to your main class, you can trigger it by the timer. Think about it.
Edit: As I see now, you DID catch the InterruptedException around the Thread.sleep(10) in your original code. Why did you do it in the first place, and why don't you now?
You can just catch the Exception, and leave it like that. However, when an Exception occurs regularly, it would be better to know why.
Editedit: Also, you declare the same class which is a panel als as a thread. AWT/Swing don't like it when create new Threads for the GUI, since AWT/Swing bring their own Thread for Event Handling. So, whatever you do with any kind of Threads, do it in some class which doesn't inherit from some visual component!

Need URGENT help with BLOB!!!!

I am using a certain java server that has the capability of persisting objects to permanent storage (Oracle 8.1.5.0 in my case).
The server automatically creates all necessary tables, and some of them have columns of BLOB datatypes in them.
Then server retrieves a row of data and attempts to figure out how big is the size of the single BLOB record.
All these queries are in xml configuration files and the server's java code uses them to access the database. I can not modify the datatypes during table creation without modifying actual server code, which I don't want to do for obvious reasons. I can't use stored procedures to figure out the size of the BLOB either for the same reason.
Now here is the problem:
Some of the logic of the code depends on queries that are supposed to return the size of BLOB data. Queries look like this:

and of course col_a is in table_A and its datatype is BLOB (The sql above works on MS SQL).
IS THERE AN EQUIVALENT OF datalength() IN ORACLE?
I have unsuccessfully tried LENGTH(blob), which throws ORA-00932 inconsistent datatypes error. Also tried octet-length(), BLOB SIZE() with same results (different error: ORA-00923 FROM keyword not found where expected).
Any ideas?

this nokia device has been specially designed and manufactured for this market.the satandard GPS features have been disabled in accordance with market regulations.
im using this mobile for the second day,i can't send it back to syria and i don't know what to do,i can't connect with the gps system in cyprus and i can't connect with the internet,please help me to find a way to enable the GPS system in my phone.

As I explained in an earlier post, you WILL NOT be able to do it yourself.
If the hardware is just disabled (the error message may be misleading), a Nokia service point may be able to reactivate it, though you'd have to pay because the phone only has warranty in Syria and because this wouldn't be a warranty fix anyway.
If the hardware is removed, then you are more than likely stuck.

Need Urgent Help with trigger in Oracle 10g

Hello frd,
I am working on my DBMS Project in VB 6.0 that is Tollbooth management system
i have to insert one trigger for my project so i had decided to insert time trigger.
I have total 3 table UserLogin, Vehice and Vehicle_Data
the 3rd table Vehicle data contain the following fields
Vehicle_Type, Vehicle_No, Tax_Time, Source, Destination and Tax
Now i had done coding for tax when you select Vehicle Type, Source and Destination the Tax Field will automatically fillup and all the data will Saved in Oracle table but now my problem is that i want to create trigger for Tax_Time column When any new data inserted current time will stored in that column
I had create one but it gives error
create trigger time after insert on vehicle_Data
for each row
begin
insert into Vehicle_Data(Tax_Time) values(to_char(sysdate, 'HH:MI:SSAM DD_MON_YYYY'));
end;
Note: I am Using VB 6.0 and Oracle 10g Express Edition
