Needing a cover for my 13 in macbook pro

new to mac, wanted to purchase a cover so i dont scratch this laptop any ideas?

Hi,
do not hide your MacBook design with hard cases.
Take care and transport it not in a soft cover but in a
stable case like:
http://www.booqbags.com/laptop-backpacks-laptop-bags/13-inch-macbook-bags/Vyper- XS3-macbook-sleeve
It is a staple transport bag and it fits perfect. I use it long time and
its perfect.
And to protect the bottom of the case use:
http://www.bluelounge.com/products/kicks/
Available hard covers, which you can snap on the Notebook has the
disadventages, that they collect dirt between notebook and cover and
therefore scratch with their micro movements the body.
You have to clean it regulary and with the mounting and unmounting,
scratches at the side will be sure.....
My experiences with all my Apple stuff is to use it with care, transport it
in an suitable case....and tht´s it :-),
Greetings from Germany and have fun with your Mac!

  • Need an SSD for a mid 2010 MacBook Pro...

My HDD suddenly died on me! No warning. It's still spinning away, clicking away but totally dead. Not even showing up on any disk repair recovery programs, ***?.
Anyhoo, I need a new HDD and have decided to go with an SSD.
I have a mid 2010 15" 2.66 i7 MacBook Pro, and am wondering what SSD spec I need to be looking for.
I'm pretty sure that the new drive would need to be SATA II. Anything more would be over kill.
Other than this, any other considerations regarding compatability that I need to be aware of?
Thanks guys, for any pointers offered.

It depends on how much you're willing to spend. A ~250GB SSD will cost you around $400-500, depending on the make and type (SATA I vs SATA II). My minimum recommendation for any boot drive size is in the 80-120GB range (leaning toward the higher end of that), and these will cost between $100-$200 for an SSD. SATA II SSDs will be more expensive than SATA I versions, but the performance of the SATA I SSD will be well above the performance of an SATA II mechanical HDD.
These days, if you're up for it my recommendation is a ~120GB SSD replacement for the optical drive (there are several companies that sell brackets for holding 2.5-inch drives in the optical drive bay), which will allow you to use the SSD as a boot drive and the existing HDD as a storage drive. It's great on battery life and offers exceptional performance for the money.

  • I recently purchased, from the APP store, Lion for use on my MacBook Pro.  I wish to upgrade my IMac to Lion also.  Do I need to make a 2nd purchase or will the single purchase suffice?  If the single purchase will suffice, how do I facilitate ?

I recently purchased, from the APP store, Lion for use on my MacBook Pro.  To upgrade my IMac to Lion, need I make an additional purchase?  If not, how do I facilitate the IMac upgrade?

No, you do not need to re purchase Lion. You can re download Lion on all your authorized Macs using the same Apple ID.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.

  • I need to install windows on my new Macbook pro for running my flight simulator software

    Hi!
I'm new to the Mac world and I need to install windows on my new Macbook pro for running my flight simulator software which only runs on windows. I would like to purchase and download the windows 8.1 rather than buying the CD.
When i go to the microsoft store and click windows 8.1 it says it is only for who has windows xp or vista...
can you tell me where and how can i purchase the full installation 8.1 for download?
i will keep the ISO file on my flash drive.
    Thanks!
    <Re-Titled By Host>

it's likely an upgrade you are looking for and not a full install of windows
    http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/get-the-iso-you-need-to-crea te-your-own-windows-81-dvd/
if you get it as an iso file then you need to burn the iso file to a optical disc to install it

John, please refrain from posting your personal email in these threads.  It is not necesary and all communication to you can be done directly in these forums.  Posting your email address can open up you to tons of unwanted spam, among other things.  Really all you can do is search the internet for them.  My suggestion would be to google "case for late 2007 macbook pro".
One will probably be very hard to find for a 6 year old model as it is on the borderline of being considered "vintage".  Ebay may be a good place to try too.

  • Do i need to reformat a samsung m3 for using with a macbook pro

    Hello
Do i need to reformat a new samsung m3 for using with a macbook pro?
I have an old bipra which i use and i just remember literally plugging it in and going.
    thanks for any info.

I don't know about your particular configuration but usually Disk Utility not recognizing a drive means the drive/card is history.  My G4 running OSX 10.4.11 will format SD cards.
I don't know your model computer. Is this one with a SD slot built in?  If it is, do you have an external reader, or can you try another card in this slot to see if it is a slot problem?

  • I need a recommendation for a 24" monitor for my late 2013 MacBook Pro

I need a recommendation for a 24" professional photography monitor for my late 2013 MacBook Pro.  I am looking for a monitor that plays well with my 13" late 2013 Macbook pro.  I tryed the Dell U2413 and found after the fact that it did not work well with my Macbook pro.  Read up on the Asus PA 249Q, It also seems to have problems with my Macbook Pro.  Apple display is larger than i want.  Looking for recommendations for compatable IPS monitor for use with Aperture. buget is $300 to $800.
    Anybody happy with thiers?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9), Aperture 3.5.1

Any monitor will work. Decide what specs work best for your needs and get that monitor.

  • Do i need to create a back up or a start up disc for a newly bought macbook pro os x 10.8 ?

do i need to create a back up or a start up disc for a newly bought macbook pro os x 10.8 ?

You do not need a startup disc. There is a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive that you can use for repairing or reinstalling the system. Hold down command-R at startup to boot from that system. If the hard drive should die or be replaced, all machines that have shipped with Mac OS X 10.7 or later include the capability to boot into internet recovery mode. If trying to boot into recovery mode fails, the machine will automatically try to boot from a system downloaded from Apple's servers over the internet. (You can also force the machine into internet recovery mode by holding down command-option-R at startup.)

  • Where can I order a cyrillic liser engraving for my keyboard on Macbook Pro 15" ?

Hi everybody, sorry for the wrong topic but can somebody tell me where can I order a cyrillic liser engraving for my keyboard on Macbook Pro 15" in Wisconsin or New York?

I've never heard of anyone anywhere offering that service.  I suggest instead you look for a keyboard cover or replacement keyboard.  For keyboard covers do a google search.  For a keyboard, ask these folks:

  • Anyone else having extra long delivery time for the late 2013 macbook pro 15" 2.6ghz 1tb model?

Anyone else having extra long delivery time for the late 2013 macbook pro 15" 2.6ghz 1tb model?
As of today feb 15 i have been waiting for 78 days. Finland doesn't have an official apple store (only authorized resellers) It was my mistake because i should have bought from apple.com. But i think 2.5 months is too long and i have no information about when i can get it..

    The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 256 GB SSD costs $2,000.
    The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,300.
With 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD it costs $2,500.
    The high-end 15” rMBP with a 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,600.
All cost $500 dollars more with a 1 TB SSD.
So the SSD size is not a differentiating factor unless you prefer 256 GB.
If you think you need 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD then you might as well spend the extra $100 for the high-end model.
The high-end model will make a difference on gaming and graphics-oriented applications.
They tend to run other applications at about the same speed.
Both models are rated with 8 hours of battery life.
Benchmarks on PhotoShop comparing memory sizes:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5659174?tstart=30
The speed was about 10% different between 8 GB and 16 GB models.
On other applications your mileage may vary.
    Application benchmarks:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2059215/15-inch-retina-macbook-pro-review-a-tale -of-two-laptops.html
The low-end and high-end performed the about the same on non-graphics oriented applications.
    Graphics oriented benchmarks:
On the Cinebench OpenGL benchmark the high-end was about twice as fast.
On the Unigine Heaven Benchmark benchmark they ran at about the same speed.
On the Unigine Valley Benchmark benchmark the high-end was about 1.5x as fast.

  • Keyboard Cover and Hard Case on Macbook Pro Retina

I have just heard that Apple suggests to remove palm rest protector on Macbook Pro Retina.
    Reference: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4384
    Now, my question is:
Is it ok to put keyboard cover and hard case on Macbook Pro Retina? Or will it affect the product just like the palm rest protector?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
The keyboard protector that I got is Moshi's. They said it's extremely thin, will it be still a problem? Because as I compared with the palm rest protector, it's much thinner.
Here is the link for reference: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV901LL/A/moshi-clearguard-keyboard-protector- for-aluminum-macbook-and-macbook-pro
And, the hard case that I mean is something like Kuzy sold in Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Kuzy-Crystal-15-4-Inch-MacBook-Display/dp/B008B09LRY/ref=s r_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1350354859&sr=8-4&keywords=kuzy+macbook+pro+retina)
Any further opinion on this issue?
    Thanks.

  • How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

There are a few ways (none of which are covered in the above link). On more recent OS X versions, when you click the battery icon in the menu bar you may see a "Service Battery" or "Replace Now" message. If you aren't seeing that, the system probably thinks the battery is fine.
Also, in your System Information utility, there is a Power section that provides Health information for the battery, with a Condition status and Cycle Count. If the Condition is Normal and your battery is under 300 cycles (for removable batteries) or 1000 cycles (for non-removable batteries) it is not time to replace it yet.
But of course, the other time to replace it is if you don't think you're getting the runtime you want out of it.
If none of those is a problem, don't worry about it.

  • Could anyone please help! There's no icon for iCloud on my MacBook Pro under System preferences. I 'm not sure if this is connected with my previously asked question re "unknown error" in trying to purchase more storage.

Thanks AnaMusic. I didn't realise that I needed OS X Lion installed on my MacBook Pro. Bought it and installed and the icon is now there Now I'm faced with having to familiarise myself with the new features of OsX Lion and it is truly overwhelming. A step-by-step approach is called for I suppose. Thanks so much for your help

That is determined by what type of disk that it is. It may be a disk that only allows you to install Windows on your Dell computer and would not allow Windows to be installed on a Boot Camp partitition or as a virtual machine in an app such as VirtualBox on your Mac. If that is the case, you would need to purchase a retail Windows install disk.
