.NEF issues with CS3

Hi,
I run the CS3 suite, and have never had any problems using .NEF files that my Nikon D40x produces, right up until i built a new PC. Previously I was running a 32bit version of XP, now i am running Vista Home Premium 64bit. I have installed Camera Raw 5.2, and Adobe Bridge will recognise my .NEF files, however when I try to open them in CS3 I get the following error message: "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ben

ACR 5.2 is made for CS4, and will not work in CS3. Have to use the CS3 ACR.
May have to delete previous version, if it does not do it automatically, as only one allowed in directory.

  • Small issue with CS3 / CS4 in Vista 64

    Hello,
Recently made the move from XP 32 to Vista 64 and I'm having
issues with CS3 and CS4 when it comes to inserting images and/or
browsing for background images in a CSS file.
The first issue I have is where the cursor starts out. See
    the image below:
    http://img391.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ps1hb9.png
Currently when the select image dialog appears, my cursor is
nowhere to be found. This is easy enough to get around with the
n key but annoying none the less.
My second issue is more upsetting. When I type in the name of
a folder (for example the Downloads folder from the previous
picture) and press the enter key, a strange character followed by a
colon and a backslash is added (:\). The character changes but the
colon and backslash is always the same.
    See:
    http://img513.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ps2cm6.png
This never happened on XP32 but for some reason Vista (and I
tried out server 2008 as well) 64 bit causes this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Mike

Zoodia, do you have the same problem with Vista 32 and what
version of vista do you have?
Or does nayone else has the same problem with Vista and
please include version and 32 or 64 bits.

  • Several issues with CS3

    I have several issues with CS3. When I used Contribute 2 I
had no problems with the following.
    1. I've imported from Word & copy & pasted but when I
align photos left, text on right and then publish, the pages goes
kookie and all out of alignment
    2. Not able to resize/change color of text on master page but
am able to only when I make a new page
    3. I get spaces between lines when I don't want them and
can't get spaces or move text over when I want to
    4. I noticed that on my edit pages, sometimes the content
changes font size but it's okay when published
    Can anyone help ? Thanks

That's right. If you type text and select one of the
    available styles, fine.
But, as soon as you try to change color, font size, or any
    other attribute,
Contribute will create a new style all on it's own.

I looked at your style sheet. You only have white and black
    as font colors.
The red color is a result of a Contribute-created style
    (style 4) in one
instance and a font tag in another instance.

The code doesn't really look all that good. For instance, on
    the Conference
page, it looks like, for the photo cutline, you simply hit
    the space bar to
move the text over to try to center the cutline below the
    photo. You -could-
just create a centered style or tell Contribute to center
    that paragraph and
it should create a centered style for you.
When I paste from a Word doc, I try to paste as unfomatted
    text.

  • Issue with CS3 Bridge and Flash 10?

Im not finding any help and Im trying to trouble shoot this myself, since I updated to Firefox 3.0.8 apparently the latest version of flash was updated at the same time?
My computer shows Flash 10.0.22.87 (running XP) as being installed in programs but tools>addons> plugins shows 10.0 r22. Is this how it is supposed to be? I've removed and reinstalled this a few times but they never match up.
I've tried back dating to older versions of FF when things ran smoothly as this is the only issue Ive ever had with FF in the years I've used it, but that doesn't seem to help because its still the same flash plugin. Ever since this update I haven't been able to use some other programs such as Adobe Bridge and even AOL since they both have flash components I guess?
I've done a forums search and I keep thinking it has to be something simple like a setting that needs to be changed but I cannot find it. I did delete the old flash folder as suggested in some of the other threads but no change. If anyone has even a decent lead please reply as I've been working on this for 3 days in and out of safe mode but even then I cant run any programs with flash. I have no crash logs because the entire system locks up and I have to do a hard reset. Thank you.

    Hi Cyboide,
Actually, I am new to Flash platform. I have developed a flash file and (.fla and .swf files are created) this .swf file I need to use within our project(based on Java) which is to be run in localhost. So, I had followed these steps as I saw in Google Help:
1.) I had opened .fla file(First.fla) and goto File -> PublishSettings -> Formats tab.
2.) In this tab, I had selected .html and .swf checkboxes and deselected remaining all.
3.) Click on "Publish" button and then "OK" button.
So, a html file with same name as that of .fla/.swf file is created in the same folder beside thes .fla and .swf files.
I think it is clear upto this point.
                     Now,
If I open my .swf file simply in a browser window(Mozilla), I can view the contents. But, the Buttons, checkboxes, Combo-boxes etc., controls have no access(i.e., any animation, tweening works well but  there is  no user interaction).
Else, When I open my project in localhost(Java project), here somewhere i call my flash file(i.e.,First.swf file). But, the contents of .swf file are not viewed in the case of Mozilla Firefox. But, it works well in InternetExplorer browser including my whole project(i.e., all localhost). Hence, no problems when opened in IE.
Please reply me as soon as possible. It is the only issue to end up my project.
    Waiting for replies.....
    thanks a lot in advance..

  • Problems opening & resaving NEF files with CS3/CS2

I seem to be having problems sending my NEF files to Photoshop from Aperture. This started happening just today & I'm not sure what to do.
What happens is that when I open a NEF file in external editor, instead of just opening up as a psd file in CS3 or CS2 directly like it used to do, it now opens Adobe Raw instead which means that I am unable to resave back into my Aperture Library. Is there anyone who has experienced this as well? Any suggetions as to the cause and a solution? I tried checking preferences for both Aperture as well as Photoshop but nothing seems to work.
The only thing I can think of is having just updated Adobe Raw to the latest version, 4.3 I think. Other than that Aperture did start up about a week ago & declared my library corrupt & proceeded to rebuild my library. Other than that it was behaving normally until today. Its really irritating & counter productive to be unable to resave my edits in Aperture.
Any help or suggestions will be very welcome indeed. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip Eduardo, but I checked the preferences and they seem to be correct.
It seems that only images in certain projects were affected. Could be the ones that Aperture rebuilt earlier. I guess I may have to try exporting the raw files from the affected projects, then deleting and reimporting the projects again. I did try to rebuild the thumbnails but it doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try before I do this?

  • Nikon D7100 NEF Issues with APE11

I have a Nikon D7100 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.  The problem is, the software doesn't recognize NEF files.  Doing some research, I downloaded the DNG converter but it doesn't recognize NEF files.  I tried updating the PSE11 software but I keep getting a "The update server is not responding......" "Error Code U41M1C212.  I looked for updates for the Camera Raw version.  My software has version 7.1. Aparently I need at least version 7.4 and that there is 8.0 or better available.  I can't find any version above 7.1.  I have no idea where it is.  I'm thinking this is likely an easy fix and that I'm simply missing the obvious.  I also have no idea why the DNG converter doesn't recognize the files as well.
I bought APE11 so I could work with RAW files.  One mistake I made was that I never used RAW files when I had the trial version.  I always used the JPEG files.

    Hi,
For the D7100 you do indeed need ACR 7.4.
Hopefully the advice given by R_Kelly above should help you to update your PSE 11.
If you have downloaded/installed the latest DNG 8,1 converter, then that should recognize the NEF files. If not, please check that you are not using old Nikon software to import the images - this is known to cause the problem.
Otherwise, the DNG works on folders - you should point it to the folder containing the images not a file.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Issue with CS3 and audio

Ok, first off, this is my first time using CS3 so hopefully I've done something easy and stupid and it can be fixed.  Second, due to this being my first usage of the application I'll also bet good money that I forget to include something helpful in this post so just let me know what to add and I'll do it.
Here's my problem... I have a video file that I imported into Adobe Premiere, I didn't capture the video as I had done that already.  When I view the source file outside of Adobe, everything is fine.  When I select certain clips and add them to the time line one of two issues occurs:  1) the first few seconds of the clip have a scratchy or choppy sound that obscures the sound or 2)the sound for the entire section of the clip (but not the entire file, some of the file sounds correct) I selected is speeded up, making everyone sound like Mickey Mouse.
Now, again, if I just watch the source file, everything is fine.  Also, I was messing around w/ MSFT's Movie Maker and within that project area, the sound sounds perfectly fine BUT when I compile the project and create the outputted file, the same thing occurs... mickey mouse sounds!  So, it's kind of aggrevating to me.  The file length is something like 12 minutes too, so it's not like I'm putting together an epic film or anything.
And like I said earlier, just let me know what further information I can provide to help in diagnosing my issue and I'll be happy to provide whatever I can.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Joan,
What were your steps in ripping the Audio from the CD? I strongly recommend that one rip the CDA files to PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit. Now, the Audio is in 44.1KHz on the CD, so you would do the conversion to 48KHz in, say Audition. Do not compress this CD Audio to anything, like MP3. I like doing the ripping in Audition, and then just Save_As, setting the sample rate to 48KHz for DV Audio.
Using compressed formats, like MP3, can introduce all sorts of OOS (Out Of Sync) issues.
You are correct that correcting dynamic OOS is tedious work. Yes, it can be done, but one does not want to do that, unless there is absolutely no other way around it. Though you are probably way ahead of the tips in this ARTICLE, I'll link to it anyway, just in case. Who knows, there might be just one little tip that's worthwhile.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Problems with CS3 and Leopard

Having a bit of a nightmare with Indesign and Photoshop CS3 since upgrading to Leopard. Running a Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 With 2GB DDR SDRAM. Anyone else having problems?

Below is the Adobe Marketing Line (copied verbatim). It's what I was told by Adobe Sales and what I read at Adobe.com, FAQ, before buying CS3 in October 07. Imagine my surprise when I discovered all of the issues with CS3 and Leopard, even after the update to Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional which promised full compatibility (see chart at bottom).
    Apple and Adobe... ARGH.
Oh yes, for all of the new suckers out there who are about to buy CS3 for their new Macs, the exact same FAQ is at Adobe.com, even now, Thursday, 12 Jun 2008.
ADOBE CREATIVE SUTIE 3 Frequently Asked Questions
Support for Mac OS X Leopard
    Q. Is Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) important to Creative Suite 3 customers?
    A. Yes, Mac OS X Leopardthe latest version of Apples operating systemdelivers an elegant,
productive new computing experience for creative professionals. Adobe and Apple have been
collaborating closely for months to ensure that Adobe Creative Suite® 3 applications can run
smoothly and reliably on Mac OS X Leopard. We are proud to support this impressive new
operating system, and to ensure that our creative customers can take full advantage of the
performance and value of using Creative Suite 3 applications and Mac OS X Leopard on
    Intel-based and PowerPC Macs.
    Q. Are Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications compatible with Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5)? If
some are not fully compatible today, when will they be compatible?
    A. Thanks to close collaboration between Adobe and Apple, most of the CS3 applications and associated technologies, such as Adobe Bridge CS3, Version Cue CS3, and Device Central CS3, are compatible with Mac OS X Leopard without requiring additional updates. However, the following CS3 applications will require updates for full compatibility with Leopard: Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and our professional video applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3 Professional, Encore CS3, and Soundbooth CS3. We expect to publish free Leopard compatibility updates for the video applications in December 2007 and for Acrobat 8 Professional and Adobe Reader 8 in January 2008. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2 of this FAQ.
    Q. Will older versions of Adobe creative softwaresuch as Creative Suite 2 and
Macromedia Studio 8 softwaresupport Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. While older Adobe applications may install and run on Mac OS X Leopard, they were
designed, tested, and released to the public several years before this new operating system became available. You may, therefore, experience a variety of installation, stability, and reliability issues for which there is no resolution. Older versions of our creative software will not be updated to support Mac OS X Leopard. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2.
    Q. Will Adobe continue to test CS3 applications on Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. Yes. Adobe sets high standards of quality, stability, and reliability for our professional creative
products, and we have worked closely with Apple to test Creative Suite 3 applications on both pre-release versions and the final shipping version of Mac OS X Leopard. While this testing showed that most CS3 applications perform well on Leopard (and that others run well but need updates for a few identified issues), we recognize that other issues may unexpectedly arise on any new operating system. We plan to continue testing and to monitor user experience closely to address any such issues. If you encounter any issues, please report them by going to www.adobe.com/misc/bugreport.html and clicking Report
A Bug. Please note that we dont respond to submissions, but we do review them closely with the appropriate CS3 product teams.
    Q. Which CS3 applications will need patches to be compatible with Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. The following table summarizes compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard. It notes which CS3 applications require updates for full Leopard compatibility and when Adobe expects to release those free updates.

  • HDVsplit scene detect issue using CS3 export

Okay, I first used HDVsplit to read a HDV tape I made using CS3. It seemed to have some dropped frames at a number of places, so I decided to make a new tape. I had the m2t master files on my hard drive, so I decided to try to make a new tape. I used cs3 to export these files to my sony tape unit. No visible issues. But, when I used HDVsplit to try and read the tape, using scene detect, it looks like it thinks there is a scene detect break like every second. Never saw this issues with CS3 before. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Dave

Dont use scene detect? Do you not like to manually capture?
Scene detect reminds of those old avid systems with the " auto edit" button. If it were only that easy.

  • How Do I Correct A Media Player Issue In CS3?

I am using Dreamweaver CS3 with Mac OS 10. 9.5.  When I insert an .mp3 file to my web page with a media plug in and attempt to preview it in Safari, I don't see a player control strip.  Also, when I'm in the Dreamweaver working environment, and I attempt to play the .mp3 file via the plug in properties palette, Dreamweaver crashes and I get an error report screen.  I have not encountered any other issues with CS3 in this version of Mac OS.

Unless you have an appropriate player and browser plugins installed on your system, embedded media files don't do anything.  If DW is crashing, it may be that your media file is way too big.
Going forward, the contemporary approach is to use HTML5 <audio> which is supported by all modern browsers including mobile & tablet devices.  As an example, copy and paste this code into a new, blank document and preview in browsers.

  • Adobe CS3 Issues with Snow Leopard 10.6.1

After spending an initial $1,800.00 for CS3, I'm not dropping another $40
0 to $500, just so I can use them under Snow Leopard. Although, I'm hearing a lot of issues with CS4 and Snow Leopard, too.
The problem I have found so far is that when any one of the CS3 applications attempts to check for "Updates...", they crash. I'm unable to update each of the CS3 applications from the original versions on my DVD.
I receive a dialog box that states that "Adobe Updater" quit unexpectedly.
Apple and/or Adobe MUST fix this. I have a newer Intel-based iMac. I completely reinstalled the Mac OS X to Snow Leopard and installed the Adobe apps on a clean computer. ALL of my other applications from other manufacturers are running fine

Can you get your updates from, say, [here|http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?loc=en_us&term=adobe%20upda tes%20photoshop%20cs3&cat=support]. Check fast these are search results. To reproduce what I found, I went to Adobe.com and searched on Adobe updates Photoshop CS3. That's the only CS3 program I searched on.

  • Color management issues with Flash CS3, please help?

    Hello everyone.
I am having issues with color from a Jpeg image produced in Photoshop CS4
after importing onto the stage in Flash CS3. The color in Flash changes the image to a lighter less saturated state. Yuk.
Here is a link to a screen capture to show you what's happening (for a bigger view):
    http://www.rudytorres.com/color/weirdcolor.png
As you can see the front image is the Photoshop image showing the sRGB color profile embedded but Flash (behind) changes that color.
This client is quite picky and she will notice this difference.
If any one can help, please.
    - Rudy
    P.S. It's a button somewhere, Right?

    Dougfly,
Only an hour wasted? Lucky you. Color is an incredibly complex subject. First, forget matching anything to the small LCD on the back of your camera. That's there as a basic guide and is affected by the internal jpg algorithm of your camera.
2nd, you're not really takeing a color photo with your digital camera, but three separate B&W images in a mosaic pattern, exposed thru separate red, green and blue filters. Actual color doesn't happen until that matrix is demosaiced in either your raw converter, or the in-camera processor (which relies heavily on camera settings, saturation, contrast, mode, etc.)
Having said the above, you can still get very good, predictable results in your workflow. I have a few color management articles on my website that you might find very helpful. Check out the Introduction to Color Management and Monitor and Printer Profiling. In my opinion, a monitor calibration device is the minimum entry fee if you want decent color.
