Nero aac crashing itunes 10.1.1.4

I had a lot of songs ripped via Nero prior to moving to iTunes. I'm running up against two issues with Nero-encoded songs:
- I'm running airtunes, the nero-encoded songs will not play on any of my remote devices via airport express devices (the songs play on my local machine)
- certain nero-encoded songs cause itunes to crash. I've noticed that songs encoded with the 2.6.x version of aac cause the crash, so far songs encoded with 3.2.x version do not.
I'm trying to go back & re-import songs that I find, but I don't think there is a way to do a search to find songs that are not encoded by some version of iTunes.
Until I loaded 10.1.1.4, I just had the first issue, annoying but not unbearable. Now that the thing crashes every few songs, very annoying.
Any hints (other than 'find & re-rip every nero-encoded song'...) much appreciated.

I have this issue as well. I have an iPhone 3G 16GB, just updated to the latest iTunes and 4.2.1 firmware. I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I've spend like 1,5 hours total reorganizing apps, all for nothing.

  • Converting to AAC crashes itunes 7.4.3.1

So upon launching itunes this evening, I was prompted to update to the newest version. Now I am running 7.4.3.1 and every time I try to import a new track (WMA with DO DRM, I repeat, NO COPY PROTECTION) the conversion to AAC causes itunes to crash. I can usually convert one song, and then the second song causes the failure and I can only convert another song after I reboot my machine, and then its the same deal - one song then crash. Anyone else having this problem? How can I revert back to the previous version? I can't find it anywhere...

If you can find the files in your iTunes Muisc folder, you should be able to get them all back by simply adding you iTunes Music folder to iTunes with File>>Add folder to library.
This will leave you with the dead tracks. I would recommend one of Robert Jacobson's scripts to get rid of them, but the site seems to be down.
Here is the link, but it is not working:
    http://home.comcast.net/~teridon73/itunesscripts/
There is another way which is more involved which involves creating two playlists. I can give you that if you like.

  • AudioBooks wont open-Crashes iTunes

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.5.4 Leopard, iTunes 8, and an Iphone running 2.1,
I have about 40 audiobooks (M4b) files that I cant open under the heading of "Audiobooks" in the iPod on the phone, every time I click on "Audiobooks" it crashes iTunes and returns to the main phone screen, I set up a playlist with all the audiobooks enclosed and I can play from there, BUT I would like to know what the problem is and if it can be fixed?? or if this is a new iTunes 8/iPhone 2.1 bug...

After a couple hours of testing last night, syncing and re-syncing, and crashing and crashing and crashing, I can add some specific facts, and provide details for a couple work-arounds (at the end).
    1. The problem occurs when you try to click to the Audiobooks tab/panel of the iPod application. If I quit the iPod application while on (say) podcasts, I can re-launch the iPod application, and do anything but go to the Audiobooks tab, without causing a crash. (This makes an audiobooks playlist workaround a reasonable strategy while waiting for Apple to fix this defect.)
    2. If I quit the iPod application while in the Audiobooks section, and then sync over audiobooks that trigger the problem, then the entire iPod application becomes inaccessible. That is, you can try to launch it, but it hangs, and then goes back to the desktop. The only way to get your iPod back is to re-sync and reduce the number of non-Audible tracks. If you're not at your computer, you're screwed.
    3. Only non-Audible books seem to trigger the problem. I am able to sync 50+ audiobooks from Audible.com (all Type 4) and it seems to cause no problems. No specific or quantity of Audible.com Type 4 audiobooks seem to trigger crashes. (I imagine that this is somehow related to the Audible titles being relegated to the Audible ghetto, below the regular audiobooks list, instead of mixed in with the rest of my audiobooks. Which seems to me to be a dumb UI decision; why would I care where they were from? I just want my audiobooks in one place. But that's another rant.)
    4. I currently have 18 non-Audible audiobook titles, consisting of 23 separate tracks (a couple books are multiple tracks, but only show up as one entry in the Audiobooks list on the iPhone), synced to my iPod, and I can use it normally. Adding one more track, and the Audiobooks section starts crashing. With another combination of audiobooks, I got it to 18 non-Audible entries in the list, but only 20 tracks. So it appears that the defect is triggered by having more than 18 entries in the Audiobooks list.
    5. It doesn't matter what title I add, only that I hit the limit. I must have crashed the iPod application 100 times last night, testing my way through a playlist of 105 items...
    6. All but one of the non-Audible tracks are AAC files (.m4a) that I have switched the file extension on, to .m4b, so they would show up in the Audiobooks section of iTunes and my iPhone (prior to iTunes 8, the .m4b extension was the only way to achieve that). The other track is a plain AAC (.m4a).
I hope this is useful in devising work-arounds. In particular, two possibilities seem like reasonable ways to cope while we wait for Apple to track the defect down:
    1. Limit the number of (non-Audible) audiobooks synced to your iPhone / iPod Touch. You might find the following article helpful in that regard: Managing audiobooks on a small-capacity iPod -- http://aldoblog.com/audiobooks/itunes/managing-audiobooks-on-a-small-capacity-ip od/
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.
    <Edited by Moderator>
In particular, the tips about creating smart playlists that you sync to the device, with filtering based on type and limits based on number of tracks, would seem to be strategies that will make it simpler to deal with this problem.
    2. Create a single big playlist with all your audiobooks (maybe a smart playlist based on Genre starts with "Audiobook"), and use that to get to your audiobooks, rather than the Audiobooks application.

  • IPhone 4 crashes itunes when syncing..

as the title says when i try and sync my brand new iphone 4 it crashes itunes so i cant get any music or anything onto it.

    SOLUTION!!!
Ok so the deal is, that it is in fact a rogue song/album messing up the sync. To find the error, I was fortunate to have a second Iphone 3G (My Old One).
I synched the songs step by step in Itunes. That is, I unchecked "Sync Entire Library" and went step by step through each artist. To expedite this you can go "All the A's" or "All the B's" whatever works for you. Sit and watch where things go wrong and you get the "Iphones has encountered a problem and needs to close"
I found one album that caused the break. Note, as soon as you locate the problem area that's crashing, uncheck the block of artists you were synching. Begin to synch step by step until you find the problem Album / Artist.
Next, I tried to fix things in a variety of ways. I noticed some file names were long, and this had been causing earlier issues. Convert long song names to AAC, Itunes will make a smaller file name. I did this and was able to continue the synching process. Other times, I'd try this and Itunes would crash just turning a file into AAC. I deleted these files from the library and voila, continued synching.
Really odd issues, hopefully this works for you. please feel free to let me know if you're still having issues.

  • Zen 8GB. Nero AAC support? SD expansi

Does the 8GB version support the Nero AAC codec Either LC-AAC or HE-AAC
I've been doing some reading and only the iTunes codec works. Nero cannot be played back.
And what is the status on integrating SD cards into the 'memory' of the player Any planned firmware updates to add some real functionality to the SD slot Message Edited by MoreMiPlez on 2-9-200703:20 PM

Again.... first of all, your just another user who hides the file extension on your OS.
2nd, Nero Digital's encodes (and) muxes the AAC stream into an .mp4 "container"
3rd, Apple have that opportunity, but depending on how old whatever lol encoder hey have, they may mux the AAC stream into an .m4a (a stands for audio, v for video which is really obvious)
An .mp4 container (file/filetype for you average human/user) can handle both video/audio streams, alas .m4a only handles audio and vice versa.
Todays AAC listeners often use .mp4 since it works only multiple hardwares like cellphones (take SE's phones for example) or the PSP, or perhaps a PC (with the right OS and software of course)
.m4a/.m4v is something from the past that many already left (pre 2004!), but then again some still do tend to bring up the past, and why's that? That's cuz some still don't know the difference and that's why people always suffer from the consequences.
Some might learn from other's, but in this case, this forum-user helping whatever thing they have isn't really helping at all.
My cellphone (a k750i, 3 years old perhaps?) handles AAC streams muxed into .mp4 containers (now only defined as AAC tracks) they decoding may not be the best, but it still does it job. So right now, my cell does it better than this player was meant to be.
Come on folks... be "creative" and learn from the users.Message Edited by aicu on 2-26-200705:55 AM

  • Zen doesn't play .m4a encoded with Nero AAC encoder = Creative, please create a firmware f

The Zen doesn't play AAC encoded with Nero's AAC encoder, which is unfortunate since it's the best one out there. It does, however, support iTunes-encoded AAC. There was a brief discussion on it elsewhere, but I'd like to focus the discussion here on:. Request for firmware fix by Creative, so the Zen will read the files: ple2. A fix to get the files to play in the current firmware? Many of the references in this forum to wishlists, tools etc. are dead links, so hopefully?this thread will generate some answers for those of us out there with sizeable Nero AAC-encoded?music libraries.

    Very Good!!
I'd just like to report that m4a files made with winamp and then repackaged with your application have a problem in fast forward and rewind. That is, (Sorry for my English, please try to understand) when you fast forward to a point, the player correctly jumps to the desired point, but, after that, the playback bar starts again from 00:00:00, even if the player is in the middle of the song.
Anyway, this doesn't corrupt playback quality and doesn't create audio gaps; moreover, it just happens with the zen, while winamp works correctly.

  • IPhone 3GS Update to 6.1.3 Crashes iTunes

About a month ago my mum lost her iPhone at work and later that day rung up O2 (her phone service provider) and got her sim cancelled or something along those lines. The next day she went to EE and got a contract and a new phone with them. When my mum returned to work she found her iPhone though and then gave it to me. I havent really touched it for the past month but now today i decided to start using it.
To start with, i tried connecting to the app store and recieved this error 'Cannot conect to the store. A secure connection could not be established. Please check your Date & Time settings'. So i checked the date and time settings both on the device and on my laptop (what i have iTunes on) and they were all fine but still this message persisted. I then thought that putting in my old 'non cancelled' sim card from GiffGaff might fix the problem; but no.
Next i turned to updating the iPhone. So i launch iTunes which i update to the newest version first and then attempt an update on the iPhone to 6.1.3. The update begins trying to backup the iPhone, which gets stuck right at the end of the bar for a few minutes before crashing iTunes. After a few more attempts of this, i try bypassing the backup stage by ending the 'AppleMobileBackup.exe' process through Windows Task Manager which worked and led me onto the iPhone restore stage. On this stage my iTunes loading bar displays 'Verifying iPhone Restore With Apple' and then after only a few seconds iTunes crashes once again.
Any help on fixing this error would be well appreciated,
    Will.

  • IPod Classic won't sync and crashes iTunes. Suggestions?

Hi, hopefully someone can help me!
I have a 80GB iPod classic for 3/4 years, never had any syncing issues until now that weren't fixable by a reset.
However a few days ago I was at my parents' house and charged my iPod using their computer. The first time there was the standard message "This iPod is synced with another library" etc etc but subsequently it crashed iTunes. It was recognised by the computer as a portable media device, all the normal folders were there etc.
Now that I'm with my regular laptop, I'm having the same issues but have realised that the iPod won't sync. It crashes iTunes when it's connected and when I disconnect the iPod, should iTunes works but it displays the message: "The iPod cannot be synced. The required folder could not be found"
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've tried updated my iTunes software and resetting the iPod (pushing menu and centre), but neither has had an effect.
Edit: I should add that since charging the iPod on the other computer, I have also had issues with the click wheel, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
    Thanks in advance!

  • ITunes Store Crashing iTunes

I have updated to the new version of iTunes and whenever I try to access the iTunes Store it crashes iTunes.
This started happening after the new download was installed.
When I click on the store icon iTiunes behaves as usual with the bar filling up with blue but when the bar fills up iTunes crashes.
It only seems to do this on my administrators account too - which is odd.

I'm having a very similar problem to this. I downloaded 8.0.1, and now iTunes tries to connect to the store upon startup, and crashes shortly thereafter. iTunes is now completely unusable. I'm using Mac OS 10.4.11.

  • Saved movie trailers crash iTunes 11.1.1.11

iTunes 11.1.1.11 on my ThinkPad X230 with Win7 64bit crashes. I can click and watch a movie trailer in iTunes fine, but the same trailer downloaded and saved will crash iTunes if I click on the saved trailer. If I try to just play the saved trailer with QuickTime Pro 7.7.4, it opens QT and starts playing without crashing QT, but also without a picture or sound.
I have followed many instruction on the Apple Support Forums, made sure that all my ThinkPad software/drivers are up-to-date, and the same for Win7, I uninstalled iTunes and all of its components as per the support instructions and did a clean install of iTunes 11.1.1.11 and QuickTime 7.7.4.
What gives? What am I overlooking? Everything else in my iTunes seems to be working fine.
Does anyone know about the MSVCR80.dll problem and how to fix it?
    Here is the crash report:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
      Application Name:    iTunes.exe
      Application Version:    11.1.1.11
      Application Timestamp:    524a8521
      Fault Module Name:    MSVCR80.dll
      Fault Module Version:    8.0.50727.6195

    Hi Brenden,
Thank you for your reply and the suggested article. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to solve the problem.
Here is where I stand now: I have followed every possible lead and Apple Support instruction I could find-- all software is current and up to date, as are my drivers, I followed uninstall and reinstall instructions to make sure everything is clean and functioning.
Everything works fine on my computer and my iTunes except some .mov files crash iTunes.
A downloaded and saved iTunes movie trailer (720p and .mov file) crashes iTunes (as documented in my previous post). If I try to just play the saved trailer with QuickTime Pro 7.7.4, it opens QT and starts playing without crashing QT, but also without a picture or sound.
My question is: why does iTunes play the trailer fine but the same trailer downloaded and saved crashes it when I try to watch it? If I open iTunes in Safe Mode, it doesn't crash iTunes but there is also no sound or picture.
I have other .mov files on my computer that play fine in QuickTime and iTunes, while others play fine in QuickTime but crash iTunes. All my mpeg-4 files play fine in iTunes and QuickTime.
I have now spent so much time trying to solve this problem that it really bugs me .
I'd appreciate all help in finding a true fix. Searching the various forums for the different platforms revealed that other users have the same problem (for example msultan22071: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5292773?start=0&tstart=0).
    Thank you!

  • IPod Nano crashes iTunes

Hi, every time we time we connect my daughter's 4th generation iPod Nano it crashes iTunes. The iPod is just a year old. It has worked fine until a week ago. iTunes runs fine on its own.
We also sync an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and the new Nano. We do not have a problem with these.
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing the problem with the 4th Gen Nano?

I am really upset. I have an ipod classic 2 years old. I plugged in my ipod into the computer to create a new playlist. I started adding music to my list and after a few minutes and then itunes crashed. I closed the program and tried again. started ok then crashed again. I tried to close the program and it finally closed and totally erased my ipod 10,600+ songs GONE! Now most of those songs cannot be easily replaced. I am a music teacher and use it everyday to do my job. Now I am stuck redoing it. After restoring the original settings and a disk check, my ipod still crashes itunes. Even before it did this. I would randomly get songs that just would not play that would before. What do I do now. I am really mad!

  • IPod (5th gen?) keeps crashing iTunes

Hi there. I'm trying to restore my iPod. At first, it kept crashing iTunes when I connected it to my computer so I couldn't even restore. I rebooted and was able to restore but it crashed iTunes during syncing. Now it keeps crashing iTunes when I restart it. Is my iPod dead or is there anything else worth trying here? iTunes software is up to date.

    Try the Hrad Reset first
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Then do the iPod Disk Diagnostic, in this earlier post by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but help you decide if your iPod is dead.

  • HT201269 My PC crashed. iTunes was on it and now all files are gone. All music does exist on iPad. How do I get the music that had been downloaded from iTunes and copied from my CDs onto new PC from iPad. Would rather not use cloud.

PC crashed. iTunes was on it and now all files are gone. All music both purchased  and copied from CDs is on iPad. How do I get the music back onto the PC without using the cloud. Afraid if sync will wipe all music from iPad.

You would need to download iTunes on comp and download purchases again (you don't have to pay again) and upload your CDs again IF you sync your iPad to your computer it will erase everything

  • IPod suddenly crashing iTunes

My trusty 30 GB iPod is suddenly crashing iTunes. As soon as I select my iPod under Devices, it crashes iTunes within 3 seconds. I have never had this issue. I'm on a Mac, OS X 10.7.3
I have reset the iPod in every possible way, wiped off all podcasts and music. Placed the usb connector into a different slot on the mac.
The only thing new is: I am using a brand new Sony docking station and speakers, which works nicely. This is now the first time I've removed it from the docking station and connected back to my mac.
    Any ideas?

The docking station is not connected to my computer at all.
And I've discovered that my iPod syncs just fine and does not crash iTunes when plugged into my older iBook (iTunes 10.5.3, and OS X 10.5.8). So it's something about iTunes 10.6 and/or OSX 10.7.3. Maybe I'll just wait for the next iTunes update.
    thanks

  • Audible authorisation crashes iTunes

When I try to authorise my copy of iTunes to play my purchases, or if I try to deauthorise my computer, then iTunes crashes. iTunes plays all other audio and video files including streaming media without a problem. It is only Audible authorisation/deauthorisation that causes the crash so no Audible purchases can be played. There are no errors, it just freezes. I don't know if this is an Apple issue or an Audible issue.
    Can you help? Thank you.

Did you ever get this solved? I'm actually having the same problem. I've moved my library from old mac to new mac and everything is fine with the exception of the purchases. any time i try to migrate them into itunes, it crashes.
