Netflix cannot establish secure connection

Hi,
I used to be able to access my Netflix account without any issues (I used unblock us).
Now, it seems that everytime I click on to it, it comes up with netflix cannot establish secure connection.
I tried Safari and Chrome and the same problem.
I've tried to delete my history and reset my cache, but to no avail.
I'm using Safari Version 7.0.1 and my Mac OS X is Maverick (10.9.1).
Please help! I'm paying for both Netflix and Unblock via subscription and throwing money down the drain...

Disable or bypass "Unblock" and test.

MacBook Pro "cannot establish secure connection" can't connect to Internet, tried on two separate networks and via wifi and Ethernet. Any suggestions??
Mac book was connected and working then started giving error message "failed to establish secure connection" now cannot connect to Internet via any network. Either by wifi or Ethernet. However in network settings it says it is connected. iTunes also cannot connect so don't think it is a safari problem. Have also checked networks with other devices and the network itself seems to be working.
Have further problems with syncing phone (doesn't seem to registering removal of music, storage is not freeing up) but I am hoping that solving Internet connection may solve that problem as well
Apologies if i am posting in the wrong place!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated as I am stuck.

  • Cannot establish secure connection to itunes store

    Dear Apple:
If it ain't broke, don't fix it kthx? itunes 8 is unworkable.
Ok, since I upgraded to version 8, it won't allow me to buy songs. I click the buy now button and absolutely nothing happens. I checked my account, my credit card is authorised, all the info there is up to date. I checked my internet explorer settings, SSL 3.0 and all that jazz is enabled. I run a connectivity test and turns out I cannot establish a secure connection to the itunes store. The program does not deign to tell me why and after about half an hour of looking around to figure out why I give up.
Here is the log of the test and I am hoping someone will be able to help:

I tried your suggestions but no luck. I was looking through the tabs on IE and saw a Diagnose connection problems application. I ran it and it seems that I also have trouble connecting to other HTTPS servers (see below). Now this is odd since I do my banking from home, access hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail, netflix etc and I know all of them use HTTPS, so why would I be able to access some HTTPS servers and not others.

  • Cannot establish secure connection to Apple Store

I've tried all the solutions I can find to no avail, but cannot seem to establish a secure connection to the iTunes store.  No error code just a blank iTunes Store screen and a never ending attempting connection.  Some of what I've tried:
    * Date and time correct
    * SSL and TSL checked
    * No proxy and tried to check and uncheck auto detect settings
    * Used Autoruns to be sure no other LSP providers
    * Ensured Windows Firewall has iTunes fully allowed (even reset Firewall to default and then reallowed it again)
    * Removed and/or disabled all security software to test for possible blocking
    * Reset Winsock and rebooted
    * I CAN reach secure sites in my browser just not in iTunes
    * Removed iTunes, Quicktime and any other Apple related items I could find with RevoUninstaller to look for leftover entries, rebooted and reinstalled (several times)
    * Cleaned all cookies, caches and old registry entries
    * Machine is free of all malware
This only happens on one computer so I know it's not my account.  It happened out of the blue (well, I'm sure it was related to something...a Windows update, an update of something....but I didn't associate it at the time so I do not know what).  I know another person who had the exact same symptoms out of nowhere and has very different software from me (and a totally unrelated account to mine) so I suspect a Windows Update but I don't know which one.
Specs:  Windows 7 64-bit  iTunes 10.6.3   AV is Microsoft Security Essentials with realtime Malwarebytes
When I open iTunes it takes a very long time to load, system becomes sluggish, and then when it finally does load, it simply will not connect to the store and it will not recognize any iPhone or iPad I try to sync.  When I run the diagnostic the only information it seems to contain that is pertinent is that I can't establish the secure connections. In Safe mode iTunes will start more quickly but since I cannot start Apple service in safe mode I cannot connect to the iTunes store that way.  (I have however, disabled all but the most essential startup items and the long load in normal boot still remains).
I'm at a loss. I've Googled and searched the forums here and tried every plausible thing I could find but nothing seems to work.  Any further ideas are welcomed.  I was going to try an older install of iTunes but older versions won't read a library created in a newer version. I would really like to sync some new items to my devices and since the computer won't sync to the cloud as it can't log in - I'm kinda stuck at the moment.  It's really frustrating. I'll be glad to post diag logs if anyone things it will really help.
Many thanks for any additional ideas!

I finally went into my services and looked at every service that wasn't set to start automatically and read the description.  If it sounded like it could be enabled safely (obviously that was a decision I had to make for myself and the security of my machine) I enabled it and set it to start automatically. Anything with regards to peer to peer, internet related, and homesharing was certainly something I considered.  There was also a service called IKE that was stopped for some reason that was recommended never to be stopped.  I personally enabled over 35 different services.  Somewhere in there (and I have no idea which service or combination of services) it fixed my problem.  The interesting part was that I never went in and stopped any of these services or changed the status on my own, so I have no idea where they got changed - and nowhere in any of the reinstalled did Apple products set the services back to what they needed them to be.  Go figure.
As an aside - Bonjour was enabled AND running but iTunes kept telling me it wasn't.  That is what started my search in the services to start with.  I did try iTunes support but they were less than helpful and directed me back to all the same tech bulletins or to call for paid support - which I wasn't about to do for a free program that just stopped working.
iTunes is now opening like a charm and is connecting perfectly for me.  Obviously, this is something you'd want to do with caution and I'd suggest that before you blanket go and do as many as I did that you might want to carefully select the ones that you look at setting.  My first reboot took a bit but after that things have been running smoothly.  Your mileage may vary and take this with caution.  You may want to enable a few at a time and test instead of doing what I did.

  • Cannot establish secure connection to account--trying again

When I try to get to the itunes store from itunes, I get a message saying that Apple cannot establish a secure connection. It suggests checking to see that my browser has SSL3.0 or TLS 1.0 enabled. I have both of those protocols enabled, and always have had them enabled. I can order from other websites with no problem at all, so they obviously can establish a secure connection with my computer. I have enabled phobos.apple.com on my Windows firewall and deleted McAfee firewall (my subscription was up, anyway). I have reset the files I was told to reset. NOTHING has changed--I still get the same message every time. I can load CD's onto itunes and load the music from my PC to my ipod. Does anyone have any ideas?
Is it possible to contact an actual person through itunes store support? So far, all I have found is useless files and this discussion forum. Does apple provide software support for the itunes store? Any help is welcome.

    emachines T3508   Windows XP

After a long hassle involving uninstalling and reinstalling both iTunes and QuickTime, I stumbled across the solution--the problem was with my browsers. Not that there was anything wrong with my browsers themselves--I was using Firefox and Mozilla--but it turns out that the iTunes store does not work on these. It works only on internet explorer, as far as I can determine. So, instead of being able to use the browser of my choice, I am stuck with that perennial hacker magnet, IE.
IMHO, Apple made three major errors. First, they have not optimized their site for browsers that work just fine for other on-line merchants (Amazon, Sierra Trading Post, etc.).
Second, their message is misleading. Other websites with the same constraint give users a message saying that "We are sorry, but this site is optimized only for Internet Explorer."
Third, their e-mail response message to people with this problem says to uninstall and reinstall the software. It does not mention switching browsers. Apple, I expected better from a company with your reputation for innovation.

  • ICal Calendar: Cannot establish secure connection to google

    Hello,
i have 10.9.2 on my 2009 MacBook Pro 15" and when i want to enable "Calendar" in my Google Account, i get the error Message, that "a secure connection could not be established". I tried it both in my WLAN, LAN and also when i connect to the personal hotspot on my iphone. I did this to make sure, that my internet connection is not the problem.
I also see, that Apple Mail still has problems to connect via IMAP/SMTP to my GMail. When i do a "check connection", it takes about 45 seconds until Mail connects to the SMTP Server.
I hoped that 10.9.2 will fix this problem but it didn't.
    Anyone else?
    Regards,
    Sebastian

  • Sarfi cannot establish secure connection to Apple website?

Im setting up a brand new iPad 3 that I bought for my father for his birthday.  I set up a new Apple ID account and when trying to download an app I get redirected to a website for more verification. But once I get redirected a window stating "Cannot open page: safari cannot establish a secure connection" pops up and i cant move on nor does it give troubleshooting prompts.  I can access other websites no problem. I have restsarted safari. Restarted the iPad. Deleted cookies. Nothing is working. I've had the same problem a few times. I found that resetting the airport gets the problem fixed, providing that you grant your airport permission to access your keychain always. It can be a software reset. Connect to your airport (airport utility) and select yours (in case you get signals from other neighbors too). Then, on the toolbar click reset, and you should be on.

  • Safari Fails to Open Page- Cannot Establish Secure Connection

I am using Safari at my home comuputer (Dell, Windows XP. I recently installed it within the past two weeks. Just this Sunday, I noticed that there are several pages that I haven't been able to view and the same message "Safari can’t open the page “https://cavs.bpcc.edu/” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “cavs.bpcc.edu”" pops up, except it uses the current URL.
I have to open it in Internet Explorer to view it. What's the deal? I tried looking at my security settings.

I have the same problem on my macbook. Happens for certain sites.
I get the same or similar message from safari and opera.
It doesn't happen on my imac, which is sitting on the same wireless network.
    Any ideas please?
