Network Magic Pro 5.5 keeps dropping my router and wireless printer ...

...multiple times per day.
WIN 7 Pro 64-bit, SP1
Network Magic 5.5.9195.0-Pure0
Motorola Surfboard  model SB6120 Cable modem
Windows Firewall configured by Norton Security Suite 6.2.1.5
Linksys WRT54G2 router ver.1
My problem is as stated in the header.  My router needs to have the power cycled multiple times a day because it is dropping my internet access.  This problem did not occur until I purchased in installed Network Magic.  Also, the wireless printer needs to have the cycle powered almost as often.  I've had both the router and wireless printer for more than 2 years and never experienced this problem before installing Network Magic
I manually changed my MTU setting to 1472 from Automatic.  This has not helped.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

From what I know, the network magic software won't affect your internet connection since it is just  a software to use to manage your network. You may want to isolate the problem first. You can try uninstalling the network magic software from your computers and try to observe your connection again.

  • WRT54G2 keeps dropping connection, wired and wireless

I have a Scientific Atlanta modem with WRT54G2 wireless router. Both are around 2 years old. In the past few months, I keep getting periodic connection drop, couple times a day, day on day off. I have 2 wired connections and 3 wireless connections to the router. I check with my internet provider, Cox, they say my connection is fine. So I guess it's the router or modem problem.
The funny thing is when connection drop, I cannot access any web sites via wired and wireless. However, my downloads in iTune are still running fine at full speed. I have to unplug and replug both router and modem for it to work again.
Is there a way to fix this? or do i need to buy a new router or modem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's possible that Cox only recognizes the router's MAC address, probably the reason why you can't connect directly.
Anyway, try to lower the MTU settings on the router.

  • Vonage Adapter on Network Magic Pro goes offline for no reason

    1. Network Magic version: 5.5.9195.0-Pure0
    2. Internet connection via Texas Communications in Bryan, Texas which is line of sight tower transmission to the dish receiver
    (modem) on my home. http://www.tconline.net/default.htm
    3. Texas Communications Modem - Motorola Canopy (Motorola Wireless Broadband Platform)
    4. D-Link Router DIR-615, Hardware version B2, Firmware 2.25
    5. Problem device is Vonage Voice over IP box (Vonage V-Portal Digital Phone Adapter) wired to the router.
    6. Computer uses Windows XP Home Edition with sp3.
    7. AVG version 10.0.1204 Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011
    8. Windows firewall.
The problem occurs when the Vonage adapter drops offline (according to Network Magic Pro) for some unknown reason. The icon for  Vonage dims in the NMP map but the Vonage phone continues to work at a degraded level (about every 2nd or 3rd word spoken is not received).
I've tried port forwarding the Vonage adapter but this doesn't keep the adapter online.
Once the Vonage adapter drops offline the only way I've found to correct the problem is to delete the adapter from NMP then
re-install it again. There doesn't seem to be a way to wake up the adapter once offline. I can reboot my network computers and this doesn't affect the Vonage adapter.
    Help!

You have to do a little better than that.
    Printer?
    current drivers?
Network? wireless? or bad USB cable?

I have a variety of devices on my home network, such as 1 MAC, 5 Win 7 PCs, 4 Android mobile phones, 1 TV PVR, 1 BluRay Player, 1 TV, 2 Network Printers, 1 iPod Touch. All of them is appearing as the should except one of the mobile phones. It is being recognized as a Win 7 PC and I can not change the type to anything but a PC/Mac. I have tried changing the IP address and also completely resetting the network but to no avail. Network Magic also gives my Android phone (HTC Desire) the name of one of the connected Win 7 PC's. The IP address and MAC address recognized by Network Magic is the ones associated with the phone, not the PC. The PC is a laptop with both wired and wireless connection, but it doesn't help if I disable on or the other or both. I have also completely reinstalled Network Magic on the PC but the problem persists.
In addition to being annoying, the problem also prevents me from administrating a NetGear access point as it only accepts to be managed by the computer Network Magic is associating with my Androd phone. To work around that issue I hope I can do a factory reset on the access point and reconfigure it, but I'm not looking forward to it. I have bought Network magic Pro as my network management sw and would like to use it for that purpose.
    Please anyone - HELP!

Dang! It's been a year since this was posted and nobody is able to HELP...
Anyway, I have the same problem here too... My Verizon Motorola Droid A855 is identifies as computer and Microsoft Windows 7 (workstation). I can't get the other options to categorize it as a cellphone. The thing is my Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-Ray DVD Player appears on the network map and I was able to put it under "Media Adapter," another pc appears  as it should, a Hawking Wireless-G Range Extender as "Wireless Access Point," and a BoostMobile Motorola i1 Android cellphone appears as a "cellphone." So, how come my Motorola DROID A855 is detailed as under my pc name and operating system Windows & Professional? This is weird.
    Anybody has an answer?

  • Is it legal to ban the use of Network Magic Pro for registered users

    Hi
I have a question ... Is it legal to ban the use of Network Magic Pro for registered users
Cisco would he have to propose a solution : patch, reg file or other solution
Because it's certainly enough to modify one or more files to make Network Magic Pro registered ...
    Regards.
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
I'm not sure if it's still possible to create a solution to it. I believe Cisco and Pure Networks (Network Magic) has ended their partnership since last year.

    Hi PSYCHSON,
Rerun the Installation program for Network Magic. It should give you options for Repair or Remove.
If it does not, then simply reinstall overtop the existing installation. Reboot and go back to Add or Remove Programs and remove it.

Yes, you can add your tablet pc to your network.  If you have the setup CD for Network Magic, you can follow the instructions here to install the software.
Once you are finished installing Network Magic, read this article to learn how to add a device to your network using Network Magic.
    Hope this helps.

It sounds like your MBP is experiencing kernel panics.  Log one the next time and post it.

I tried to add the printer to my new Macbook, which is connecte to the network, but can't find the printer on the add printer and scan icon on preferences. You would need to get the IP address of your printer then manually add a network print queue.
To get the IP address, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Network Setup > TCP/IP > View/Set IP address.

  • HT4145 Does the new Airport Extreme allow "guest network" setup across all my Airports on my network? I have 1 Airport as a router and 6 others as WAP's (bridged)

Does the new Airport Extreme allow "guest network" setup across all my Airports on my network? I have 1 Airport as a router and 6 others as WAP's (bridged)

I assume that all of your WAPs are hard wired on the network.
If.....all of your WAPs are simultaneous dual band Apple AirPort devices like an AirPort Extreme or new AirPort Express.....and.....you have firmware version 7.6.3 (now 7.6.4) installed on all the AirPorts.....and.....you use AirPort Utility 6.3.1 to configure the devices......in theory.....it should work.
I don't have 6 WAPs, but I do have 3 and the network works perfectly allowing extension of both the "main" and "guest" network.

  • HT1349 my macbook pro 13" retina keeps dropping wifi connection

I'M using airport to connect this macbook pro retina to via wifi to the internet with excellent signal. It keeps dropping the wifi network on/off/on & therefore sometimes web pages take ages to dsiplay. If you click on wifi indicator, it says "looking for signal" & then "on", its happening for about 2 months. My other devices (iphone & ipad dont have any isssues & work 100% via wifi from the same airport.

If the troubleshooting suggestions here don't help you, and if your other devices work 100% when they are at exactly the same location as gives problems with your MBP, it sounds to me like a hardware problem with your MBP.
For hardware problems, contact Apple or your Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.

  • How to remove the "Index Page" option from the Router in Network Magic Pro 5.5.9195

I find it ironic and I can click on my router in the Map view of network magic, and the last option is "Index Page".  This immediately loads my router setup in a browser window. It completely bypasses the router login and password.  I do not want anyone to be able to start my PC, open Network Magic, and click this option and have access to my router.  This is stupid.  How do you turn this option off, remove it, or hide it?
Yes, I know, I could put a password on my PC, but I share it, with other family members, and at this time I don't have user accounts setup for them.
I am looking for a solution in Network Magic, not my OS.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Anything you do without submitting to form has to be done on the client side (ususally by JavaScript) using data which has been send already from the server.
With JavaScript you can do quite a bit. You can download tables which don't necessarilly appear on the screen, loading them into JavaScript arrays by dynamically generating javascript. Then you can pick up events like drop-box selection and use these tables to chose what you do next (e.g. preloading other fields, setting drop box content etc.).
Or, you can cause forms to be submitted when actions like a selection happen without the user clicking a button. It's generally a matter of how much data you'd need to transmit.
Another posibility is to use a Java applet, which can generate requests to the server and handle the results as it chooses. That are a number of problems with that but occasionally it's the best solution.
What you can't do is to handle user input inside a JSP. The JSP has come and gone before the user even gets to see your form.

  • What is the latest version of Network Magic Pro?

I've been all over this site and still can't get the simple answer. The updater in Magic can't be trusted. You would think the  latest version number would be easy to find.

Current version of NM is 5.1, you can download it from www.purenetworks.com/download/
    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
Please note that though I am a beta tester for Network Magic, I am not a employee of Linksys/Cisco and am volunteering my time here to help other NM users.

  • Alerts--network magic pro

I'm receiving "alerts" regarding antivirus & antispyware not installed on PC, when MS Security Essentials is-why

Also have Windows Update set to alert me but not auto d/l and am getting that alert. I figured how to turn these alerts off but why no recognition of KIS even though Win7 Action Center acknowledges KIS's firewall, antivirus and antispyware are turned on!!
    Hi kcbear ,
Choose to Fix Alert and then Ignore the Alert. Network Magic is not being Supported as far as New Versions go.

  • Network connection to Deskjet 3050A keeps dropping out for a few seconds

Every few minutes (sometimes only a couple of minutes, sometimes a fair bit longer) an alert pops up in the Notification area of my Windows 7 computer telling me that "Scan to computer is no longer activated. The network connection has been lost" (at least I think those are the exact words - it is only onscreen for a few seconds at a time). Scanning and printing appears to work fine otherwise *except* that I cannot print large document files (e.g. photos), because printing stops when the network connection is lost and, even though the connection appears to come back up again almost immediately, does not appear to carry on where it left off.
I think I've tried all the "standard" advice - i.e. remove and reinstall the HP software and drivers, checked for updates, given the printer a static IP address, made sure the wireless channel is well away from any others nearby, printer (and PC) close to router (and signal strength good), all to no avail.
Any suggestions where to look next? I've had the same Wi-Fi network in my house for a few years now and no problems apparent.

Try changing the channel of the router to 11, or change the encryption to WPA.

    Herculean,
It is a Sky badged Netgear router. Can't tell the model, sorry. It is already on Ch11 (advice elsewhere on this site is to use Ch1 or Ch11). I'll maybe try changing to WPA - but with various PCs, phones and iPads already accessing the network, I may just leave it until the weekend, when I will have a bit more time to spend on it.
