Never works right.

I have had the Xperia Play from Sony almost since it came out. It my first smart phone and the things a pain. I have many different problems, it can take you to a minute to open messaging, it freezes up every few mintues, I have to force quit apps, messaging, and the phone dial-er multiple time before i can get them to work and that goes with most everything on the phone. When I call someone and I'm talking with them and if i try to do some with my phone at the same time it freaks out. When I'm in call and put it up to my ear it locks the screen and goes dark which is fine but if i go to turn on speaker phone or something it wont let me unlock the screen, or it wont recognize touch, or it flashes the screen on and off. If any one has any idea to help me please let me know because Verizon wont do anything.
I'm thinking of just buying a Droid R2D2 off eBay and deactivating the Xperia and Activating the R2D2 in its places. Does anyone have an opinion on the R2D2?

The problems you have described are very upsetting. Let's look into this immediately for you. Please power the phone on in " Safe Mode". Here how to accomplish this:
  In some cases if device becomes unresponsive due to an application install, user can perform the following to place the device into Safe Mode and uninstall application.
Power Off device 
Press Power 
When the Sony Ericcson logo appears press and hold "Menu" 
Continuing holding Menu until display shows "Safe Mode" in lower left corner of display
Please retest in safe mode. What software version is running on your device? To check your software version:
From the main screen, touch Menu
Touch Settings
Touch About Phone
If the problems persist please back up the device and perform a hard reset. Here's how to do a hard reset:
To Factory reset the phone:
Note: If device is non-responsive, try a soft reset first by removing battery and power on device.
From the home screen, touch Menu 
Touch Settings  
Touch Privacy 
Touch Factory data reset 
Tap Reset phone  
Tap Erase everything

  • Verizon web site never works right

    why does this web site always have issues!  Loads to slow or not at all trying to upgrade phone and cant. I can not do it at my local store because we signed up online the first time. But then the site wont work  ben trying for the past 5 days. But it always has problems loading to slow and locking up . You need to upgrade the site.

    I've already cleared all of that. For me, it was working fine a few days ago, and now today at least, its not. I've tried three browsers (all of which did indeed work at one time or another). I'm sure something is just screwy on their back end, nonetheless I attached a screen shot, with arrows pointing to (at least some) of the items I can't click on - I can click on the "change plan" "account analysis" and "change minutes" buttons, but the other "add/change features" as well as the sections for "included features" which say "view all" and/or have the +'s next to them, do not work at all.

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.
    Uninstall the McAfee product by following the instructions on whichever of the pages linked below is applicable:

    I've had my FIOS about 2 months, put new batteries in remote and it is still not working right.  Some things work fine.  Other things stopped working - can't delete a DVR show, can't change channels with one digit, but it will if I add all 4 digits, info box on bottom of screen never disappears (unless I hit exit).  What's wrong?
    My second TV set-up is OK.

    Might not even be a remote issue. Have you tried rebooting the box?
    If you do think it's the remote it's still under warranty.
    You can get a free replacement easy within the dvr's menu.
    Here is a page that tells you ways to get a replacement.

    Get a new remote and if you still have the same issues then you'll know its the dvr that needs to be replaced.

  • Why am I being billed for equipment that never worked from the get go, and that your representatives admitted never connected to the computer on your end?

    In September my husband and I were planning a cross country move and we thought that having a Jet Pack to go on line with while we were traveling would be a good idea. When we ordered it we told the representative that we did not need it until the 1st of Oct. as that was when we would be leaving. It arrived on our door on Sept 9th with the instructions to be sure and activate it within 2 weeks or we would lose the line. On the 19th we called in the activation and everything appeared fine. We hit the road on the 1st and Nothing, Na-Da, Zip, Zilch .... The equipment never worked from the get go! We called Verizon from the road on the 4th of Oct. to find out what was going on and the representative told us that the problem was with the computer on Verizon's end. We shut the equipment off for the rest of our trip and called for a refund on the 13th of Oct. We spoke to a representative named Juan, who again confirmed that it was Verizon's computer that had been the problem,  and we were assured that all fee's associated with the Jet Pack would be waived as the equipment never worked in the 1st place. He told us all we needed to do was return the broken equipment and that he would send us a return label. We received the return label and sent the equipment back on the 22nd of Oct. On our next bill no credits of any kind had been applied? We promptly picked up the phone and called Verizon again, on Oct 31st,  to find out what was going on? This time we spoke to Lou Ann. After about an hour and a half she finally managed to remove the fee's, or so we thought, and we hung up satisfied. On 11/5 our Nov. bill arrived again with no credits of any kind. We thought maybe the billing cycle hadn't had time to catch up with our most recent conversation so we called just to verify. This time we spoke to Moncheria. She did not understand what had happened and had to reenter the same refund that Lou Ann had earlier. Again another hour and a half on the phone. Today,11/28, we received our most recent bill and again no credits of any kind??? We picked up the phone and called again. This time we explained to Christian, (the above story), and she put us on the phone with her supervisor Carson. Carson proceeded to tell us that ALL of the previous representatives we had spoken to were wrong and that since we had not returned the equipment within 14 days of receiving it that we were beyond the limits of the refund policy, (which means we would have had to return it before we left on our trip), and the best she could do was offer us coupons for the future to offset THEIR mistake! No thank you I will keep my cash in my pocket!
    1st of all we ordered it for the 1st of Oct. not for 9th of Sept.
    Secondly we were told to be sure and activate it within 14 days or we would lose the line, never any mention of a refund time limit. (Who buys stuff anticipating an immediate refund?)
    And 3d THE EQUIPMENT NEVER WORKED IN THE 1ST PLACE!!
    Now Verizon is asking for $343.34 in fee's for something that never worked in the 1st place!! This is ridiculous and those fee's are defiantly under dispute! The way I see it trying to hold me to a contract that Verizon breached by sending out faulty equipment is just wrong! 

    Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases".  You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information.  This should be checked on a frequent basis  as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • ITunes says it needs to upgrade but the download never works. What's wrong?

    One day I got on iTunes to put some music on my iPod Nano (one of the older versions), and always before when I plugged it in and came up and said it was plugged in, but then it didn't recognize it! This went on for several months, me never being able to put more music on my iPod.
    Finally I got the newest Nano for my birthday and I figured it'd work, but the same problem is going on! I've had the brand new iPod for 3 months and it doesn't have ANY music on it!
    It does come up and ask if I want to download a newer version of iTunes, that it needs that one to work right (version 8.2 something I think). I go to download it, it takes a while, and then comes up and says the download was unsuccessful, I've tried about 30 times, and it never works.
    What is going on?

    Instead of trying to update iTunes +from within iTunes+, go to Apple's page where you can download the iTunes 8.2.1 installation file -- save the file, don't run it direct from the download. Once downloaded to your computer, then run the installation file.
    If that does not fix the problem, then remove the following software from your computer (you won't lose your music): iTunes, Quicktime, and something called "Apple Mobile Device Services". Once you remove those programs, then run the iTunes installer file (from above) again. That will install all three of these programs and should fix your problem.

  • IPad 2 was updated to latest iOS 7 and has been not working right since. I have tried to do a restore but still continues to go into reboot mode by itself and very erratic. Can no longer trust it. I tried to complain to Apple but have to give them 20 buck

    iPad has not worked right since it updated to latest software. Tried to question Apple about it but it costs 20 bucks just to lodge a complaint. Is this normal Apple behavior or am I missing something. Also anyone else having issues with upgrade to iOS7. It was working great until that point and now goes into reboot mode often and sometimes will continuously reboot several times. I have tried to restore but that didn't clear the problem. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

    I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
    At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
    The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
    I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
    You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

    If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

    I don't know if this is the right place to report a bug, but it has always irritated me that the keyboard shortcut ALT-C to move the focus to the Copies field has never worked in the Adobe Reader print dialog.  It should work as the underscore exists in "Copies:"  I use the shortcut all the time in Office whenever i want to print more than one copy.  It would be nice if this would work in Adobe Reader also.  It should work as the underscore exists in "Copies:"

    My iPhone 5 was not dropped recently however I went to use it and the screen was black, I plugged it in and nothing happened. When you call it it goes right to voicemail. The power button on it has never worked it always turns on when plugged in... Any ideas?

    Are you certain that the battery has not run out? Have you kept it plugged into a wall outlet for at least 30 minutes to see if it is just needing to be charged?
    If it does not come on after being plugged in for 30 minutes or so, then without a functional Power button you cannot reset it, so you are going to have to try to put it into Recovery mode and restore it:
    If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    You may not even be able to do this since you cannot proactively turn it off, but you can try.

  • Uninstalled Firefox b/c not working right, now can't install Firefox or Thunderbird, File extracts and nothing happens.

    Always had trouble with failed updates in Firefox. It finally stopped working right so I uninstalled it. Now it will not reinstall and neither will Thunderbird. They just extract then disappear. I never see any dialog boxes asking to install. It fails without any explanation or warning. No dialog boxes are hidden under other windows. Chrome works, but I like Firefox better.

    Open Passbook, select the credit card you are using, touch the Info icon on the lower right. This will display the last four digits of the ‘Device Account Number’. These four digits are what your retailer wants to complete the transaction, NOT the last four digits of your card number. Some retailers require this, others do not.

  • Year-old iPod and I just noticed it's not working right!

    I'm slow, but I think my iPod hasn't worked since I got it a year ago. Every time I connect it to my Mac I have to reset it (menu+center buttons) for it to open in iTunes. That isn't normal, is it? I thought it was just a pain!
    So, what do I do? I suspect I'll end up going for a "restore," since I've done the rest. Just wondering if others had seen this.
    When I connect it, the iPod gives the "Do not disconnect" screen, but the battery doesn't appear to charge, and it never registers on my computer. Eventually I figured out that if I reset it after I plug it in, it comes up in iTunes like it should. But I don't think it's supposed to be this way.
    I thought folks might be amused if it turns out I've sat with this thing for so long not knowing it wasn't working right. Maybe you'll have some sympathy too.

    This was either a bad usb connector on a peripheral/dock connector, or the iPod just needed to be fully reset. It's fixed now after resetting and replacing the docking station.
