New Acrobat Pro installed and EVERY PDF file crashes after about 10 seconds. Any Solutions?

I just purchased and installed Acrobat Pro v. 10.1.2 and it seemed to install fine ,but now EVERY ODF crashes after about 10 seconds. Also, I get the Windows "please wait while Windows Configures Acrobat" message every time I launch Acrobat. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion?

Good day,
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble.
Could you try the following:
Launch Acrobat, but do not open a PDF file.
Choose Edit > Preferences.  Click on 'Internet' on the left-hand side.
Uncheck 'Display PDF in Browser'
Relaunch Acrobat - do you still get the 'Please wait while Windows configures Acrobat' message?
If that message has stopped coming up, please try opening a PDF file.  Does Acrobat still crash?
Do you have any other versions of Acrobat or Adobe Reader installed on this computer?
What version of Windows do you have installed?  What version of Internet Explorer is installed?
Kind regards,
David

    My SSD with a running Dreamweaver CS6 version crashed. Now a new SSD is installed and every time I try to reinstall DW CS6 the error " inconsistency in the installation programm database" (in german terms) occurs. I tried to delete everything concerning to CS6, rebootet and so on - nothing worked. Two hours later I tried to install DW 5.5 - that worked. Afterwards I tried again to install 6.0 - without success. Can anybody help?

    Thank you for your answer. I could not find caps.db.
    Meanwhile I solved the problem as follows: I searched for "dreamweaver" everywhere an deleted everything I could find. Then I searched for "CS6" and did the same. I guess there were around 20 or more places where I deleted directorys or files. Suddenly the installation did not stop at 2 % what it always did before and the installation was a success :-) It cost me more than 4 hours to figure that out and I did not find a really helping hint somewhere. Adobe itself I could not contact because I could not find an email adress or a phone number - poor support for such an expensive software. For luck I did not have to deliver something just in time. Lacking a useful support is a really poor, poor attitude of Adobe... I think I will not buy anymore Adobe products - it could cost too much of my time... :-(

  • Acrobat Pro X (10.1.9.22) crashes after a few minutes of use - I've tried everything I can think of!

    Acrobat Pro X, that came with CS6 Design Standard (all other programs working fine) crashes after a few minutes of use. It crashes whether there is a document open or not.
    I notice it most when I come back to the PDF after switching from another program; eg) Open PDF and browse for atleast 1 minute, find the info I need on the PDF, update InDesign document, switch back to PDF, "(Not Responding)", try to close document, "Adobe Acrobat is Not Responding". And this happens every single time - no matter what document I open or whether I even have a document open at all.
    I've searched the forums and as much of the Internet I can think of, and I've tried (but with no luck);
    - Updating both Windows 7 and Acrobat Pro
    - Deactivating and the reactivating the software
    - Deleting the cache and then deactivating - (I thought this had worked for a few minutes after I'd done this, but no)
    - Acrofix
    - Complete re-install without performing updates - still crashed
    - Complete resinstall after using Acrobat Cleaner tool
    - Turning off 3D functions in Acrobat
    - Turning off Enhanced security and license features in Acrobat
    - Turning off Windows Firewall
    - Turning off Internet Security (ESET)
    - Removing all non-standard Fonts
    I can't think of anything else to try so I thought I'd ask here. Please help!
    Windows 7 / Intel core i7 / 16GB

    Hi Rave, thanks for your reply.
    How do I go about posting the crash dump here?
    And to answer your questions; I just installed Reader 11 and its working fine. As for Acrobat 11, I must've used a trial last year before we got CS6 because it is asking me to license it, so I cant test that unfortunately.

  • Writing PDF files - Crashes after a certain point

    Post Author: virtitel
    CA Forum: .NET
    I have a 2003 .NET project that iterates through a recordset to write pdf files out into personalized directories.
    The process works fine on my work computer but on my laptop, it crashes after about 110 reports written (out of up to 900).
    I crashes on the export. What gives? Is there a resource limit of some kind? I can't find anything on it.
    Would LOVE some help with this.
    Thanks!

    Hi there
    Have you tried using the preloader? My guess as to what is happening is that perhaps things are simply taking some time to load up. I suppose you might somewhat confirm that by trying the playback again. If my suspicions are correct, you should see that they either play fully the second time through with no issues or that they play longer than they did on the previous try without pausing.
    Cheers... Rick

    Hello courtneym48375386,
    Could you please let me know what version of Outlook are you using.
    Please try opening some other PDF file and check if the same issue persists as this might be a document specific issue.
    Also, what happens if you try opening the file in Acrobat?
    Let me know.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro failed to print pdf file

    I downloaded adobe acrobat pro and started the 30 trial version just a few minutes ago.
    I could open files through adobe acrobat and convert word files to pdf, but when i tried converting a publisher file it could not go through. An error popped up which read "Adobe PDF printer failed to print pdf file".
    The publisher file I am hoping to convert to pdf is a 21 page panorama article. It contains lots of images and a variety of font types.
    I do not know other alternatives for solving this issue.
    Your help will be very much appreciated.
    Thank you!
    Erik

    It seems to be that Adobe Acrobat virtual printer is not properly installed on your PC or you are not selecting Adobe PDF printer to print PDF document. Checkout the below screen shot to see proper printer.
    After trying this if you have same problem you may trt some other virtual printer that easily convert or print any file as PDF, you may checkout here.

  • Acrobat Pro 8.0 CS3 - PDF file print in Mac OS 10.5.8 fixed!

    Since upgrade from version 7.0, Acrobat Pro PDF 8.0 printer kept pausing and wouldn't print document.
    I previously had same trouble with the Acrobat PDF 7.0 printer, but eventually got that to work with a command entered via terminal mode:
    Adobe PDF print (OS 10.5.6) work-around using UNIX command entered via the Terminal;
    In Terminal type the following if you are using Acrobat 7.x:
    sudo chmod 4755 /usr/libexec/cups/backend/pdf700
    Plan A for today: Tried same thing for v. 8.0;
    In Terminal type the following if you are using Acrobat 8.x:
    sudo chmod 4755 /usr/libexec/cups/backend/pdf800
    This didn't work, so went to Plan B;
    The other  suggested approach is to remove various PDF printer library files and then follow with the Adobe "repair" function.
    Remove following files and then "Repair" from Adobe menu;
    /Library/Printers/PPD Plugins/AdobePDFPDE800.plugin
    /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/ADPDF8.ppd
    ~/Library/Printers/Adobe PDF 8.0.app
    /private/etc/cups/ppd/AdobePDF8.ppd
    /usr/libexec/cups/backend/pdf800
    This didn't work before, so went to Plan C;
    I looked through all discussion threads again, a few mentioned installing latest update to Acrobat Pro 8 ... I had already done that, or so I thought ... I went again to update menu command within Acrobat, and it plainly reported that "Adobe doesn't have any updates at this time" just as it had before.
    I then compared my installed rev. version vs. the latest updates available for manual download, and found I was several behind.
    I then manually installed each one in sequence and towards the end of the process, Acrobat opened a pop-up window telling me there were updates available, and asked if I wanted to install them. Go figure, one of the manual updates fixed the menu updater not working correctly. Not sure which one, but I eventually landed at version 8.3.1. I repeated "Plan B", and now the PDF printer is working again.
    I guess with trial & error, even a blind squirrel will find a nut ...

    My Old G4 Laptop and my Dual G5 Tower both connect to my office via L2TP VPN without an issue. with the exact same settings exported over to my mac book pro, the connection drops after exactly 60 seconds. I've tried both wireless and wired connections, and in either case, the VPN drops after 60 seconds of connect time.

    I have exactly the same problem with a new iMac Duo Core 20". It disconnects after 60 seconds no matter what I try. With other Macs (non of which are Intel) I have no problems what so ever.

    I have a third generation iPod touch. It's worked just fine until recently. The battery goes out very very very fast. But the main  issue is that all my apps (which is why I use the iPod, to play them) crash after using them for 5 minutes, this does include the built in apps like photos and calendar ect.. I have had this for about 3 years and love it very much it's not damaged at all. I Have taken very good are of it . Is it time for a new iPod or can I fix it please help!!!! Thanks!!

    The battery can be replaced: http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipod
    As far as crashing apps, it may or may not be related to the battery life. I suggest the usual "restart, restore" routine: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/ipodtouch/
