New BTMail - NO Identities

I was moved over to BTMail today and to my horror I have discovered that there is no facility for sending emails from a different identity.  I used these extensively on BT Yahoo Email.  Anyone got any ideas or information?

Hi Arty999,
Disposable email addresses are available in the new BTMail system and platform.
If you go to mail then settings. Then select the Mail option in the settings menu.
You will then see a sub menu. Click Disposable addresses. You can then make upto 200 Disposable email addresses.
Have a look here at a step by step guide on how to do this: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/48151/c/346,6588,6591

  • New BTMail Migration Nightmare

So I invested in superfast BT Infinity  - only to be sideswiped by superslow new BT Mail. Can I have my money back?
It's a nightmare. ON top of which in their wisdom BT choose Monday morning to force change you.  I do not want to use an e-mail client as I am mobile and access e-mail from numerous locations.
BT - at least fix the basic problems -
Remember Me! If I click the button.  What a waste of time to keep entering password - especially as
E-mail Loading is SOOO slow - unacceptable.
Slow running scripts all the time
Why do the ads load yet the e-mails don't - a little greed perhaps?
    Can't even rename a folder!
Cannot set up profile - ran for 3 hours with no result. Now won't respond at all.Daily threat of reduced time notwithstanding....
Please BT Fix It.  This is a disgrace and you should be fixing it NOW! BT mail has been going for many months now - it is NOT new.  These are basic bugs.
Any help from anyone would be much appreciated

GG30340 - thanks for your e-mail, slightly condescending though it seemed to be.
I was not trying to be condescending, my comment was meant to try and make you aware that it apparently does not  form part of your contract therefore it would be unlikely that you would be able to use it to get out of the contract as you had stated, "Although I am sure the contract isn't binding if they aren't providing the service."
While you are no doubt correct about the advertising on BTMail being a revenue stream for BT I fail to see how people moving to using an email client will cause BT to lose users and lose advertising revenue. An email client is only a method of accessing your email just as webmail is a method of accessing your email. BT is none the wiser if you are using an email client or webmail to access your BTMail. Perhaps you meant if they start to use another email provider but I could be wrong.
There is no doubt that the problems will have annoyed many people and no doubt some will change Internet provider as a result of this but it may be easier to change your email provider to an non ISP email provider such as gmail, Yahoo or Microsoft Outlook if all other aspects of your BT service are performing correctly.

  • New BtMail migration

    Hi.
Is thier any new updates on when BtYahoo mail customers are being migrated to BtMail ? if new Bt customers are already using this system then why are BtYahoo Customers who have been with Bt longer being treated like idiots ??? Yahoo mail is becoming unworkable, there are faults everyday with it, mail not being delivered, who knows how many emails not being recieved, if the new system is already there then get us moved over and stop treating us like cash cows and more like valuable customers !!!

    licquorice wrote:
Stand by for a deluge of posts on here tomorrow!!!
Agreed, they have totally rushed this migration.
On a serious note, given how long this has taken, there's no excuse for problems.

  • Have just been told by BT that I need a new/different version of Thunderbird to work with the new BTMail system (used to be BTYahooMail) - do I?

I have had btinternet email for years, and Thunderbird for a long time too and have been happy with both. Unfortunately, I am not technical enough to understand most of the help or instructions on the Thunderbird support/info pages, but did manage to get TB set up in the first place (ages ago) and it seems to have worked well since. However, on Friday both of my BT accounts (two numbers, therefore two sets of BT email addresses) were moved over to the new BT Mail from the old BT Yahoo mail. I was unable to log in to one of them, but the other one was fine - I had some 'screen sharing' help from a BT technical chap to sort it out. However, Thunderbird was unable to conect with the email servers. I told BT and the tech chap tried to sort it out on the screen share, but was unable to (and I was unable to follow what he was doing). Some months ago, I made some changes, as requested by BT, to enable the transfer to go smoothly (!) but the man changed some things on Friday, I think, as well. He was unable to fix the TB problem and I can't figure it out at all, and the lady from BT Tech help who I spoke to this morning (and who had managed to sort out my BTID log-in problem, thankfully) had a look and suggested that maybe I needed an updated/new/different version of TB or 'another email'. Well, I'd really like to stay with Thunderbird and was hoping someone here could explain it in plain english for me, please? I was wondering what would happen, supposing I need to download an updated/different version, if I did that and then sort of re-installed my existing BT email addresses (just as if I was starting again with Thunderbird)? I do hope there is someone here who can help - please - I'm rather fond of that little blue bird. Thank you.

    Just add the account again.
    File|New|Existing Mail Account…
There should be no need to delete or reinstall anything. Re-installing Thunderbird itself is rarely useful, since doing this doesn't delete account data. Don't delete the old yahoo-based account until you're sure that everything you need to keep is in the new criticalpath-based account.
CriticalPath is the name of the business providing email services to bt.com.
Some not very reassuring reading [http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/03/13/bt_likely_to_have_breached_data_protection_act_after_email_accounts_were_allegedly_compromised_over_http_and_details_kept_in_log_files/ here].
You'd think bt could run their own email service, wouldn't you? Yahoo was generally seen as a poor choice. I'm not sure that criticalpath is any better.

  • New BTmail inbox set up

Just gone through making new passwords security details etc and message from BT at end says they have a problem, try later.
Got better things to do than keep repeating procedure.
How about BT posting advice when they can cope with this?
    Best wishes to all
    Tode

I have not executed this but by seeing above scenario i can say to check below things.
    # root context (in this case _WC2_)- check the deployment descriptor
         - for all the configuration parameters because this takes hold of enterting in to repository
         -  It also has filters setting for other applications like /crx
         - Servlet mapping
    # Do same for /WC2/crx (as you mentioned above you only modified  launchpad.ctx.path = /WC2)
    # Do same for /WC2/admin console (not sure whether you have changed context path for this too)
    # check sling.properties if you have done any custom config changes (Day\Author\crx-quickstart\launchpad)
I think above may help you bit to make it work. All the best.

  • New BtMail Adverts

Hi, can anyone who is using the new bt mail system tell me if there is an option to close the adverts whilst reading emails? and do they stay shut or keep popping open like they do on bt yahoo making you close it everytime you read another email (annoying) will Bt listen to us customers and make it possible if you have not allready for us to be able to close the side bar advert and for it to stay closed.

I don't think you can turn them off (advertisers wouldn't like it, would they?) but you can use an ad blocker. I run Firefox with the Adblock Plus extension and never see an advert. Others are available for Chrome and Internet Explorer, though the one for IE is not reliable in my experience.
A better option for several reasons would be to use an email client rather than webmail. Have a look at Thunderbird.

  • Problem with form created in Accrobat 9 opening in Reader 9 (Works in Reader 8.1.2)

I created a form using Acrobat 9 and Adobe LifeCycle Designer ES 8.2. It works great on my PC running Adobe 8.1.2. It also works correctly when accessed on a flash drive. Additionally, it opens correctly on my wife's PC running Reader 8.1.2 regardless of how it was transferred. (Worked via flash, network copy/paste to desktop, and as an email attachment).
The problem is, on my laptop, and work computers running Adobe Reader 9.0, attempting to open the file generated the following error window to appear, once you click "OK" on the error, the form fields are no longer accessible. The error is as follows:
"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
I re-opened the form in LifeCycle and optimized it for Adobe Reader 9.0 and higher; but the error persists. The only difference it makes is now when the form is opened on the Reader 8.1.2 machines, it generates first a window for downloading Reader 9.0, and then a compatability warning. Clicking cancel on the download and ignoring the warning results in a form that is still usable and that can be saved. On the Reader 9.0 machines, even after optimized for 9.0 and higher, the above error still persists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance :)

No, you are wrong (Gene & Mike). First, the forms, at least my forms, have NOT been edited since being created in designer. They were created and saved directly to flash. Second, this issue has been posted on the acrobat forum as well as the life cycle designer forum and both thread were ended with adobe expert posts saying it was an adobe reader issue and to post here.
I have experimented more with this issue and it seems to be a 'trusted identity' issue within reader, but I have not wholely figured it out yet. My forms work on Reader, 7, 8, and 9. They work on all versions of 7 and 8 regardless of what the form was optimized for (my forms were optimized for 9 and higher). The only trouble is on 9.0. I have found that when updating on client machines, reader gives a prompt (sometimes) that says reader has found a set of trusted identities from a previous version, would you like to use these identies or create a new set of identities. If you choose to keep the existing trusted identies set, the form works, even when upgraded to reader 9.0
Not trying to be argumentative (Mike and Gene) but the 'experts' bail on this issue by telling people it's a reader problem and to post here.

  • ISE 1.1.2 : Missing field to name an endpoint

    Environment :
    AP 2602, WLC 5508 V7.4, ISE 1.1.2, Prime Infras 1.2
    For a specific SSID, we use MAC address as 1 of the conditions to authorize access only for the company-owned mobiles (smartphones and tablets), the other condition being, for the mobile, to present a valid AD user/password;
    this way, the so-called BYODs are rejected since this is the rule within this company ;
    The difficulty with this approach is the fact that there is no way in ISE Identities Endpoints nor Groups to associate a user-friendly name to the MAC address of the mobiles, which makes very tedious some actions such as a search in the ISE authentication Log based on the MAC address value itself;
the question is just to know if it is planned to add a new field  in Identities Endpoints definition that would allow to associate a user-friendly name to a MAC address, for future ISE versions,
    thanks in advance

This seems like a no-brainer to me. Not being able to name or at least note endpoints makes management a nightmare.

  • Printing out E Mails

I am trying to print an E Mail from  BT.  I have the e mail on screen and when I press the print button all I get is a blank page with my email address top left and Page 1 of 1 top right.  Must be more to it than I realised. I am using Windows 7 home premium. (This is a new printer and my first attempt )  Thanks

    Okay thanks irban,
To give you an idea of what browser you are using go to http://whatbrowser.org/ or http://www.whatismybrowser.com/ and see what it says what browser you are using.
I'm guessing you will be still on the BTYahoo email platform/system as existing BT email address haven't yet migrated to the new BTmail platform/system provided by Critical Path (CP).
Though you can check by going to http://diagnostics.bt.com/login/?workflow=EmailChecker
If your on BTYahoo webmail then choose the email you want to print and click Actions >> Print message from the BTYahoo mail options (see image below)
You may get a pop-up block alert, click retry and a new popup window should appear. Click Print on the popup window and it should print to your default printer.
    Hope that all makes sense

  • Outlook 2010 supported by BT or not?

I have not been able to send or receive emails all today 21st November. I have read elsewhere about a cable cutting issue and assumed I was a victim of this. I could not help phoning BT to ask about progress. When I said I cannot receive or send emails through Outlook 2010 but I am able to receive my BT yahoo emails via the webmail, I was told that BT do not support Outlook anymore, and I should use the webmail until "everyone is moved to BTmail". Has anyone else been told that Outlook is no longer supported?
If I can receive my BT yahoo emails through the webmail does that mean I am not affected by the "cable cutting". Or was that a red herring from BT?

Yes I now appreciate that point about BT and Outlook 2010 and that no advice is offered for any 3rd party email program. Unfortunately the lady said my problems were entirely related to Outlook 2010 and that I should not be using it. She advised me to use the BT Yahoo webmail service for emails "until everyone is moved to the new BTmail". When that might be was not forthcoming. 30 minutes after my conversation with BT, all my emails came pouring in via Outlook 2010. It is still working but what the problem was which lasted most of 21st November I may never know.

  • Do forwarding settings on BTYahoo survive the migr...

Hi there - can anyone who has already been "migrated" answer me 2 simple questions please? I haven't yet been migrated and am not looking forward to it - and I am quite experienced with the BT webmail and pop3/smtp systems over many years but at the moment they seem to be making it up as they go along.
I'm just getting ready to sort out our family email by setting up ways of avoiding being dependent on having to get access to  BTMail should it all go pear-shaped (why should I possibly think that...?).
    1. If I have forwarding (to a third party email provider) set up on my "myname"ATbtinternet.com address in BTYahoo settings, will the BTYahoo forwarding arrangement, to a 3rd party email provider address, survive the migration process or will I have to access the new BTMail web interface and set up forwarding again?
I'm expecting that I WILL have to set it up again and am just dreading discovering that I can't access the webmail interface after migration.
    2. I already have a MY BT ID and password associated with my phone/TV/billing/broadband (which uses my primary email address and a special MYBT password - different from my primary email password. With that I can access my billing information but not any emails.
When I log in to MY BT and click the Email button on the web page, at the moment, I then have to enter my normal BTYahoo address and password to get to the BTYahoo webmail interface. Fine. that's what I'm used to.
When the dreaded migration occurs, and I get the promised message to "change your password" - is it the "MY BT" password that I change, or the password for each and every email address in my account?
Will each email address get asked to change their password, or just me as the primary account holder?
Advice from someone who has "been there and done that" much appreciated - so I can then spare my family unnecessary pain...
    Thanks in advance.

    dilosec wrote:
Try this: Log into MyBT, and goto this link: https://www.bt.com/appsconsumeraccount/secure/manageEmailAccounts.do?siteArea=con.mya
Does it allow you to create a new email account? If yes, I would create a new account and start moving over some BTYahoo stuff like the disposable email addresses...
About the 'immigration' - for each email account migration, password is asked for to reclaim account from BTYahoo into BTMail - password change is optional, but I clicked on 'change password' and changed all mine (main account and sub-accounts) - changing the main account password in effect sync'ed it with BT ID password (i.e. same password for BT ID and main account). If 'deported' back to BTYahoo, use the old passwords.
Thanks dilosec - that's really helpful.
I already created a couple of new accounts the other day, so I would have2 new accounts to use as suggested by you over on https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/Disposable-addresses-on-BT-Mail/m-p/1330397#M24465. They are now sitting quietly waiting for the changeover, and have forwarding set up for now, in the hope they don't accumulate any content on the web interface.
As for the password explanation - THANKS - that is so much clearer than any of the official BT stuff I have read up to now - including the information about the password change not actually being compulsory, and about it being the individual passwords for the accounts and NOT the password for BT ID's.
Which "clever" person thought up the idea of getting everyone to change each email account password immediately on migration only to find out that it wouldn't work when they migrated us BACK again to Yahoo! People as clever as that ought to be promoted further up the organisation where they can do less harm...
Seems to me that if they had ignored that particular step until migration had occurred and was settled down and working, they could have avoided an awful lot of problems for customers. Then if they ever got the migration sorted, they could send us all an email a month or two later, and told us to change our passwords THEN.
It seems it would also make sense, in the midst of so much going wrong, to avoid all unnecessary changes - including the business of creating new BT IDs for family members etc. I understand why people want them, but it really would make sense to wait until everything else has settled down and been proven to work before messing about with BT IDs and BT ID passwords, as WELL as email passwords. How do people keep track of THAT lot, especially when they aren't always sure whether they are on BTYahoo, BT/OpenWave or back on BTYahoo again?
All I need to know now, is whether forwarding settings survive migration to WaveGoodbyeToYourEmail OpenWave

  • Version 9 - Lock in reader compatibility

Acrobat version 9 seems to like to modify a forms compatibility as I work on it. For example, I have a form with 200 fields set for V7 compatibility. When I start reordering the tabs, the compatibility gets changed to V9. Is there a setting to make it stop doing this?

No, you are wrong (Gene & Mike). First, the forms, at least my forms, have NOT been edited since being created in designer. They were created and saved directly to flash. • BT email address problem

    Hi
I have signed up with BT broadband tonight and I have tried to access my new BT Yahoo email account. When I try to sign in to the account I get the message "Invalid email. Please enter a valid username (e.g. [email protected])". Why am I getting this message.? I thought that my new BT email account would be working straight away? Do I have to wait until my broadband is activated before the email will work? Or do I have to do sometihing else? Any ideas?

    Hi sandonaldson,
Your BT email eg "[email protected]" account will not be enabled until your broadband activation date. Though as imjolly has said can sometimes be a day or so after the broadband activation date.
You may also be aware that BT are moving away from the BT Yahoo mail service provided by Yahoo to a new BTmail service later this summer. For more information on the new BT mail go to http://bt.com/newemail
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers

  • Using my own domain

    Hi,
I have my own domain for personal purposes. All email to my own domain email account forward to my @btinternet.com mail address, when I was using BT webmail through Yahoo I could send and receive emails using my own domain email address but with new BT webmail I can only send using my @btinternet.com address with a reply-to of my domain.
Is there any way I can get the old functionality back?

I do exactly the same as you, only the other way round. I forward residual mail from my BT accounts to my domain mail, and use my domain mail as my main email account (and I access that not via webmail but by downloading to my desktop with pop3/smtp and an email client - MSOutlook). If you use mobile devices then you may prefer to use either IMAP or pop3 with mails left on the server.
ISPs are not committed to email, and several of the mass market ISPs like BT, have recently got into the habit of shifting providers, and it generally isn't good news for customers. Sky had a bad time moving customers TO Yahoo email, and BT are having a difficult time moving customers AWAY from Yahoo to OpenWave, and Virgin Media ported all their email to Gmail.
liquorice is right - it's easier to be in control by paying the very small amount of money required for a domain name and a few email boxes then setting up your ISP and any other email addresses to forward TO the domain mailbox.
If/when I am migrated from BTYahoo to BTMail, I will simply set up the forwarding again on the new BTMail interface, root out who is still sending me mail on my BT addresses and try and get them to stop, and then hopefully forget about BTMail completely.
BT will be delighted, as it will save them money, save them support costs and save them bandwidth.

Let us know how you like it!
    Best,

    Hi,
Windows Server 2008 R2 will not be supported in 6.0.0. Here is a section from the release notes:
NTLM proxy authentication against Windows 2008 Server R2 does not work. At the time AsyncOS for Web 6.0 became generally available, Windows 2008 Server R2 was not generally available. NTLM proxy authentication does work and is supported against generally available versions of Windows 2008 Server before version R2. [Defect ID: 52047]
We plan to add support for R2 in an upcoming 6.0 maintenance release post 6.0.1 and it is also supported in the upcoming 6.3 release which will be available for early adopters shortly.
    Best Regards,
    Jakob
