New div in editable content area

I want to create a new div within the editable area of my DW page (CS4). This is not the template file, but the actual page I'm working on. It will create the div, but I can't get any of the attributes like width and position to apply. Is there a certain way I should put a div inside an editable area like this?

What steps are you taking to insert the <div> into the editable region?
Are you doing this manually or through the various menus in Dreamweaver?
I'll assume you're doing it maunally via Dreamweaver:
1) You have the <div> inserted in your editable region, right?>Insert>Layout Objects>Div Tag>Insert>After start tag>choose name of your editable <div>
2) Give it an id in the same menu and then press ok.
3)Next go>Window>Css styles>click the little + icon (bottom right corner)>enter the ID (name) of the <div> you inserted in the editable region>click ok
4) You will then be presented with a menu to choose the <divs> attributes. Width/height come under the 'Box' category down the left side.
5) Optional-its a whole lot easier to just do the above in code view.

    HI,
IF you want to display your news in portal than why are you using this KM navigation Iviews . Go with document iview no need to describe any layout set and you can easily appear and display the news content in your portal. Just mention the path to the folder and define the news.
    This will helpful.

    THX in advance.
P.S I have several databases running on 1 machine.
I only get this message in one database.

    Hi,
You must switch to the "master pages" tab first, then mark the content area to be able to move it.
You cannot move the content area in the design view, since it is part of the master page.

  • Create editable content area

    hi,
i noticed in dreamweaver there is create editable regions etc. how can i create a page that when the user logs in they can input the text and click update and it will change the public index file?
dont really want to go and use joomla or anything if possible.
    many thanks

I have no idea whether InContext Editing can be branded. I doubt it, though, because it's an Adobe hosted service.
Creating a simple CMS in Dreamweaver is perfectly possible. See the tutorial athttp://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_dynamic_site_pt1.html. It runs you through the basics of inserting, updating, and deleting records.
Although I have never used it myself, several people have recommended CushyCMS for a basic CMS for clients. See http://www.cushycms.com/.

  • Content area items not visible

I had a content area that had items. Somehow, the items are now invisible. If I add new items to the content area, they are invisible too!!
    What could be the problem?

    Eva,
Have you recently upgraded to Portal 3.0.9? Check the content area properties to see if your categories are hidden. The 3.0.9 upgrade script has a bug that hides existing categories.

  • Opening KM links in content area instead of new window?

    Hi,
We're having problems with the Resource Renderer option: Target Window Type which we - according to SAP's official documentation - need to set to self for KM links to open in the content area instead of popping up in a new window. However, this does not seem to work.
Tried looking through the already existing threads of the forum and there are several older threads concerning the issue but no solution (that I could find, anyway).
    Any suggestions? We're on 7.01, SP 6.
    Kind regards,
    Rasmus
A short update: The parameter actually works when setting it for the ressource renderer of one of SAP's standard layout-sets, for instance 'AdminExplorer', but it only works for layout-sets including both a tree view and a folder view navigation (and in this case only for the folder view navigation). I cannot seem to get it to work on simple lists! It seems that the Layout Controller defined on the layout-set has control over the "Target Window Type" parameter...
But I still need it for simple lists. HELP.

    Hi Rasmus
I haven't tried to develop a new layout controller, but as I recall the layout controller only controls the areas you divide your collections into. I don't think is has anything to do with the rendering of documents (and navigation). But perhaps the different areas of a layout controller can be referenced.
    I would investigate the following:
    1)
You could consider developing a property renderer (and reference that in the displayed properties of the collection renderer) that opens the document in the content window. If navigation is controlled by portal events, the back button in the browser will not work, thus disrupting the user experience.
    2)
Examine the AdminExplorer layoutset to see how it works, and see if the coding can be transferred to your need. You will need a developer for this task.

After Creating a new document or editing an old document in Pages on my iPad I no longer see the changes in Pages on my iPhone. iCloud services are on with both devices.

Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).

  • The 'Edit folder' link doesn't appear in content area portlet (URGENT)

Hi! I made three content areas, and published them as portlets in a page. However, when I enter the page as an authorized user, I don't see the 'Edit folder' link on any content area portlet. But if I enter to any of the content area pages with the same user, I see the link
Is this a bug? What could be the reason?
    Thanks a lot!
    Luis

    try this...
Edit the page where you added the portlets. Click the edit defaults link next to each of the portlets and scroll down to make sure the show Edit Link checkbox is checked. I don4t see any Edit Link checkbox when I edit the portlet's defaults!!
    What should it be?

  • Switching Content Area Portlet Edit/View Mode

I am trying this question again since I did not get responses to my first try.
The current Content Area Portlet included with Portal 3.0.8 works fine except that it does not include the "Main Banner" nor the "Sub Banner". This means that portlet users do not have access to either the "Edit/View folder" function nor the current folder name.
My customer would like some users to have item upload capability. What are my choices without these banners? I can access the content area in "full page" mode and have the banners available. But this is undesirable since we would like the content area to stay "in the portlet" in order to maintain portal context.
I might be able to switch the edit/view function from another portlet on the same page if I pass the p_edit and p_mode parameters to redraw the multiple portlet page correctly. I have tried passing p_edit using the portlet reference path "&162_KCPCONTENTAREA_6429252.p_edit=1", but the Content Area Portlet does not respond. What else do I need to do? Is this even possible?
Thanks for any advise you can provide

I have determined that there will be be an edit link included in the Content Area Portlet in the 3.0.9 release due out in May. This leaves open the question of support for parameter passing for out-of-the-box portlets. Will (Is) this supported?

  • Open content area in edit mode

    Hello,
Is it possible to open content area and all folders in edit
mode. By default content area and folders are open in view mode.
    Thanks

You can use URL items to display links to folders instead of
using Folder or subfolder links. Set the URL in the URL item to
the URL for the folder Edit mode.

  • Iview calls new Page on Content Area

    Hello Everybody,
I have a Page with 3 Iviews on it, and would like that an Iview call a new Page.
Wich means, I have Iview 1,2,3 on Page A and if you trigger a link on of these Iviews a new Page B should be loaded.
All I got is that the Page loaded in the Iview itself. Is there an opportunity to change that behavior, to call a Page B from an Iview that reloads the content area with a Page B?
    Thanks in advanced,
    Marcus

    Hi Marcus,
you can call EPCM.doNavigate with the PCD target, see https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/enterprise portal client.pdf
    Hope it helps,

  • Content Area: Cannot edit/drill down to folders at the lowest level

    URGENT: Need your help.
I am using Oracle Portal 3.0.6 (Production) installed on Win NT 4.0 Server with Oracle 8.1.7. I am working on hosting a website for my development group.
I created a Content Area and associated it with a page style. Then I created numerous folders to meet the requirements of the various product teams working in my team. Under each folders, I created various sub-folders. Now I want to add items under each folder I created. Earlier, using the link "Edit Folder", I could do by clicking on the folder under which I wanted to create an item. Now when I click on the folder, it returns back the same page showing all the folders along with the icons meant for "Edit", "Add", "Delete", "Move" and "Copy". Nothing is happening and I am stuck here. It displays all the sub-folders with links upto 2-level, since I set the navigator property to the level 2. But I cannot navigate to the sub-folder created at the third level by clicking on the sub-folder link above it (at the 2-level) and add any items under the clicked folder.
Only mistake I could think about was by mistake, I tried to delete a content area which was created for test purpose. There were folders created under this. But I attempted to delete the content area directly without deleting the folders underneath. I got an error saying ".... child records exist". Later while clicking on the tab "content area", I was getting the following error:
An unexpected error ORA-06503: PL/SQL: Function returned without value occurred when executing action of the SITE datasource. (WWC-38130)
    (WWS-00000)
    Error:No data found (WWS-32101)
    ORA-1403: ORA-01403: no data found
    ORA-01403: no data found (WWC-36000)
    normal, successful completion (WWS-00000)
All product teams already submitted the contents they want me to put on the folders but I am unable to resolve the above problem. Any help / pointer to the above issue will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Jay

Dimension presentation hierarchies does not work only when I use particular two hierarchies togather in one report table. When each of hierarchies is displayed separately it works ok.

  • Error when editing items in content area!

    Hi,
I get an error: HTTP 404 - File not found, everytime I want to edit an item in the content area, after another try it works and does the changes.
I'd like to know if this is a know bug? what's happening?
This is bad to portal performance, the publishers and developers are backing out, due to this prob.
Also I'm getting timeouts all the time.
    Any help?
    Carolina.

    Hi,
This has been mentioned on a thread on 'General' about getting 404 errors and timeouts. I am having exactly the same problem.
I re-installed our Server from Scratch with Windows 2000 and Portal version 3.0.9.8.0 so I would have a totally clean install, but I still get the same problems.
Someone mentioned that turning Intermedia (Oracle Text) searching on causes the problems. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Any word on this from Oracle?
    Richard
