New folders not selected and re-namable

*Hi people, I've run into a strange Finder behavior.*
*Since a couple of week, when I create a new folder, its name is not automatically selected and changeable, but the folder is simply highlighted.*
*Even more strange, this only happens if the Finder window is in List view, not in Icon, Column or Cover Flow view modes. In these last three views, any new folder is automatically in "rename" mode as soon as it is created.*
*Any idea on why it is so and on possible solutions?*

Then, the issue is system-wide and requires reinstalling the OS. Start with downloading and reinstalling the 10.5.8 COMBO update, repair permissions, restart, and see if that fixes things. If not, then reinstall Leopard, selecting the Archive & Install option, saving user and network settings. Details in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1545

New Folders Not Synching with Apple TV

I use my Apple TV for viewing my photographs. I don't sync using iPhoto but instead have selected a "Photography" folder on an internal hard drive. I have many sub-folders under the "Photography" master folder. Each sub-folder shows up in a list in iTunes. Now I have sync "All Photos" selected for this master library and you can see the complete list of sub- folders in iTunes list. This seems to match the folders on the Apple TV. However I recently added some new folders and they are not showing up in this list in iTunes and therefore are not available to sync with the Apple TV. I did notice however that they do seem to 'stream' to the Apple TV when the computer is on and iTunes is running.
Why are these new folders not being seen in the iTunes list? I did delete some sub-folders and these were removed from the iTunes list.

Note I have a 160Gb Apple TV recently upgraded to 2.3 with about 700mg free.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

How are new showcase topics selected and programming added ?

Hi Mariana. Thanks for being the manager for this blog. As you can tell, everyone is most appreciative of your involvement in this forum. Many of us consider Channel more than a marketing type channel. It provides us with much entertainment in a variety of ways. I have never seen a showcase on American Architecture. As an architect, I believe the viewers would thoroughly enjoy such a showcase series. There are many different approaches and themes on this topic. Is there someone who can be contacted to " pitch " this idea ? Please let me know how new showcases are selected and added. If there was an interest by AT & T, I would be willing to assist with my expertise and knowledge of architecture. Thanks so much for your assistance with this. IndianaArchitect

ADF 11g can not select and copy data from cell of readonly table in IE

hi,
In ADF 11g, when render view object as readonly table with Single RowsSelection, using IE browser can not select and copy data from the cell, but it work in firefox.
is it a bug?

Since installing ios6, my contacts groups are not selectable and reminders is not accurate on the i phone

Since installing ios 6, mygroups in contacts groups are not selectable and reminders is not accurate on the i phone: no problems with the ipad.
On reminders, it says 28 but I only have 7. i cloud is accurate.
Anyone having these problems with ios6 on iphone 4? (Verizon)

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

New ipod not recognised and not charging

I have just recieved my new 60gb ipod and run the set up provided. The ipod screen lit up when i plugged it into the usb port, however the screen went to language menu and is now jammed and will not change. There has been nothing telling me it is charging and the computer is telling me 'unkown device, retry, device has malfucfactioned may need to be replaced'. The ipod is not seen in device manager, hidden folders are shown and i have tried reinstalling a couple of times............please somebody help b4 i get mad and throw it from my balcony

Well it took some time and patience after contacting tech support....who are useless cos they just sent me the link to apple tech support FAQs. I looked back through previous posts from few days back and found answer.......the old 'slide hold control x6 then hold menu and select button for 15 secs'. Well all I can say is your posts are alot more helpful then Apple tech support, why could they just not tell me that on the phone.....its not difficult and it seems that lots of us get caught out with the same prob! They should be less concerned of getting as many calls answered for the incentive scheme they have no doubt and spend a few secs just to try and work it out on the phone, they are not paying you guys to sort out the worlds ipod probs!

Create new folders for email and photos

how can i create new file folders for email and/or photos on the iPad 2?
and, will it also work on the iTouch?
ALSO, tried to install a wireless printer which looks for documents in the "documents" folder, but i can't save them there from email or anyplace else????

If you are on iOS 5 and it's an IMAP based email account then you should get an Edit button at the top of the list of your current folders on your email account - if you aren't on iOS 5 or if the account is POP based then you won't get the Edit button.
Similarly for photos, if you are on iOS 5 then you should get an Edit button at the top right of the Album selection screen in the Photos app which allows you to create new albums and copy (not move) photos into - and if you delete the original photo then if will also be removed from all albums that you've 'copied' it into.
If the iPod Touch is also on iOS 5 then I think that you will get the same options (though I'm not 100% sure)

Scenario:
Brand new Mac Pro SERVER running 10.7.1 (Lion) with eight brand new IMac’s also running 10.7
All end users have been set up in the “Server Application” on the server just fine.
This server is ONLY a data server and all of the original data has been copied from the old Mac server to this new Mac server.
End users have perfect full control over existing folders and files from old Mac server.
Problem:
New folders that are created on the shared hard drive on the server from any of the end users workstations do NOT have full read and write privileges.
I would REALLY appreciate someone pointing me in the correct direction. I am an A+ certified, MCSE and am new to Macs.

I just wanted to share a complete and very simple solution to this issue on 10.7.1 (Lion). I cannot take credit for discovering it………. but I found it at:

And he found it at another web site that he does not mention.
Anyway,
All you have to do is turn off AFP and use SMB instead.
(NOTE: I am working with 10.7.1 (Lion) this may not be an option on previous versions of OSX, I do not know for sure.)
Here is how I ran into this problem:
One of the companies that I support bought eight brand new IMac work stations and a brand new almost $6,000 Mac Pro server.
I copied all the existing data over from the seven year old Mac Server to the new server and setup the workstations. At first everything seemed fine. The end users were able to continue work just fine using all of their original data files.
But a problem soon surfaced:
Any and all NEW folders and files that were created going forward gave ONLY the creator (owner) full rights. Everyone else on the network had ONLY READ rights.
I double checked my configuration on the new server. Everyone was in a FULL ACCESS group, ACL’s configured properly and propagated rights down over and over.
But no matter how many fixes and modifications I made the RIGHTS on the server would NOT propagate down to the end users. This is a serious flaw in AFP (Apple Filing Protocol)
To correct this issue all I had to do was turn off AFP and use SMB (Server Message Block) protocol by itself………. A MICROSOFT standard for many years.
After completely turning OFF AFP and restarting the server and workstations all of the end users now have full access as they should have had using AFP.

New Nano not synching and keeps freezing

I just purchased the new Nano 4gb and have been having problems. First, i would like to mention that i was using an older nano on this computer before i got this new one. When i plug in the new nano i got a screen that says "Connected Eject Before Disconnecting". Sometimes it goes to this screen and sometimes it goes to regualr menu screen but neither connect to itunes. Im not sure if i should return this or not or if there is something i have to do with Itunes preferences. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

I have an iPod 4th Generation, after updating iTunes my iPod would no longer sync. iTunes sees the device, the iPod window comes up. WIth iPod connected and iTunes running Select Music, "Sync Music" box was not checked. Apparently the new iTunes has this box not checked by default, not smart.

BB10 - Link does not sync new Contact note entries and crashes

Hi - can anyone help.
Link 1.1.1.26 syncs new entries on both my Windows 7 PC and Q10 both ways, including any text in the Notes field. But adding or changing a Note to an existing entry does not sync.
In Link Settings I have Contacts (and Calender) ticked (blue box) but when I click on Configure next to either, to check the details of the sync, Link crashes and has to be closed via the Task Manager.

PS. Since writing the original post I have managed to get one set of Contact Notes to sync - from the PC to the BB - I was doing a manual Sync via Link. But it did not work the other way round on that occasion, and has not worked either way since that.

New programs not working and websites not displaying correctly

I need a little assistance. My older G5 is running Mac OS X (10.3.x), Mac OS X 10.3.9 (7W98) - I don't have the funds to upgrade right now - and during an update to iTunes awhile back the power was accidently cut and then my mess began. ITunes would no longer open,
I am good with PCs and can pretty much resolve anything on them, but have been absolutely stumped with this. I searched all kinds of troubleshooting and eventually decided to just erase and reinstall Panther hoping that would resolve the issue, iTunes works now, but Safari is not displaying web pages correctly (for instance Facebook is just a stack of words but other sites may look okay), and now any new program I download will not open after I install it like Firefox.
Any ideas as to how I can resolve this mess?

You can try do download Onyx, it is a good free Software that will repair many issues that you can have with your Mac. You are running the very last 10.3.x I suppose.

Spry tabbed panels not selectable and displaying everything

I have a spry tabbed panel with 2 tabs.
In design view, this correctly shows me the contect of each of the tabs (a different table in each) when I click on the tab.
When I run it in live view or the browser however, it displays both tabs TOGETHER, (i.e both table) and I can't select either of the tabs.
I've attached a screen print.
I've tried creating a brand new page with a new tabbed panel and still get the same result.
Any suggestions.

I am having issues with parts of my Facebook news page not showing and games not running.

For the last three days, I have been having issues running Facebook on Firefox. First, the side panels on the news page are not showing, which means I cannot connect to games like Farmville or Bejeweled Blitz. Those side panels were showing the previous two days, but when trying to connect, I had a message about the secure setting and I would get the message "you are no longer logged onto FB, connect to FB to play".

Try clearing cache and cookies. Next make sure your plug-ins are up to date. If both do not resolve you issue try [[Safe mode]]

How to add selection tool? (NOT selection-and-text-edit tool)

I need to add the selection tool to my Acrobat XI interface.
The icon for this tool is an arrow.
I do NOT want the tool whose icon is an arrow along with a text-edit cursor. I already have that, and it doesn't serve all my selection needs. For example, I can't use it to "window" to select several objects at once.
How can I add this tool to my toolbars / to my interface?

The problem with this is that the tool doesn't appear in the tools pane. I can't find the tool anywhere, but I know that it exists, because at some point I did somehow manage to see it either in the tools pane or in the Quick Tools area. It does exist in Acrobat XI, right? If so, please tell me how to find it.

New battery not charging and no power supply reported

The battery for my G4 17inch powerbook had expired and a new one was needed. A brand new battery has been purchased and inserted into the machine. With the old battery the charger would go green then quickly amber before going off. With the new battery the light never comes on and in the battery info in the operating system it is listed as a new battery with 1 charge but the power supply section is not listing the power as connected. However with no batterys inserted the power supply will power and run the machine.
Can anyone offer any advise of something I could try or is it likely to be a dead laptop / charging circuit?

There's 4 components in the charging circuit: power adapter, DC-in card, battery, and logic board. If you can run on power without the battery, and does not run when you insert a battery, that suggests that the DC-in board may be OK. So ... power adapter works, assume DC-in card works, new battery assume it works ... if you accept those assumptions, then you have a logic board issue.
