New Harddrive changed library paths

I had a new 160 HD installed in my G4 1book a month ago. When my original HD failed, the tech was able to recover my data (which included the folders pictures->iPhoto Library and it's contents. I use iPhoto to view and organize my photos, but I use Photoshop 7.0 to edit them.
Prior to having my new HD I would open Photoshop, browse my Pictures->iPhoto Libary and locate the photos to edit according to date (ie 2008->5 (May) -> 22 (day) to locate the wanted photo. Now my photos are organized in my iphoto Library in this way (iPhoto Librar->2008 (Year) ->14_1 or Originals_32(or 22_2, etc.). This makes no sense to me as the numbers in the branch below the year do not correspond to the months, nor are they in chronological order.
This matters to me b/c I cannot locate any of my photos when using Photoshop to edit them. I read on the forum where I can choose Photoshop as the program to edit. That works if I'm editing a large amount of photos and I know what photos I want to edit. But...If I want to scroll through iPhoto, comparing two photos prior to editing them in Photoshop, this doesn't completely solve my problem.
One other thing. In my iPhoto Library I have the following folders: Data, iPhod Photo Cache, Modified, Originals (as well as these individual files (albumdata, dir.data, iphooto.ipspot, iphotolock, library.data, library.iphoto, library6.iphoto, thumb324Segment.data, thumb64Segment.data and thumbjpgsSegment.data). I can tell no difference between the folders called Modified and Originals; just different names. Is this normal?
I guess all of this is to say that I think something was complicated when I transferred things over to this new HD. How can I simplify it again?
Thanks very much for any clarity you might be able to bring.

This is not the correct way to do this
You should set PS as the external editor
and you should never directly access your iPhoto library - you should export the photos and work on the exported versions
The iPhoto library is a database and iPhoto manages it - it is not designed for your access and if you mess with it you are likely to corrupt it and lose data

those are all normal and should not be modified or deleted - the single exception is the iPod Photo Cache - you can quit iPhoto and drag it to the desktop and relaunch iPhoto and test it - if iPhoto is happy you can delete it from your desktop
How can I simplify it again?
You can not
Since iPhoto is a database program the general rule is to never enter its database (the iPhoto library) except by using iPhoto and never change anythin within it

  • Cannot change library path or name when configuring a library call function

    I cannot change the library path or name when configuring a library call.  I browse to the new location, click OK.  The new path appears  in the box.  I click OK to dismiss the configuration.  Then I re-open the configuration and the old path has magically appeared.  I wouldn;t care but I get a fatal error whenever I execute the call.  (Another VI with the same call but to a different library works fine.  So I am trying to get the failing call to use the one that works.)

    I am using version 7.1
    It turns out that everything works fine in LV 2010 but the customer doesn't have that rev.
    I am remotely debugging this using GoToMeeting.  Sounds weird, but I fell into that.  It works fine, I have a screen which looks exactly like the screen in the customers site.  I can do everything, albeit with a little time drag.  The thing is, I e-mailed the VI from his site to mine so that I could send it to you.  But it works fine here.  So the question is what could be different there that would cause this?
    The main problem that I am trying to solve is that when I run the VI, I get a message
    "Labview:  An exception occurred within the external code called by the Call Library Node.  This might have corrupted Labview's memory. Save any work to a new location and restart Labview"
    If I set the Library Node on my machine to the correct function, it runs without error.  It seems, however, to start with a different function and then I get the same error.  I would think that if there is a parameter mismatch that the library would return an error status, but this appears not to be the case.  (I did not write the library, HP (Agilent) did)  The function is correct at the customer's machine.

  • Changed Configuration paths with ConfigurationImpl for UIX CSS

    Hi,
    I want to change the default stylesheets for UIX components. therefore I read chapter 7 Customization and then chapter 10 Configuration of the help to JDeveloper (v. 9.0.2). I found out, that if I want to use my style sheets, I have to write a XSS file, what I did, and then include that to my application - somehow. I will not change the blaff.xss file, therefore I chose the way to instatiate a new ConfigurationImpl, change the path for the styles directory - as mentioned in chap. 10 - and registered it and... nothing. then I wanted to do following :
    RenderingContext.setConfiguration(config); but that is not working, because the method setConfiguration() is not available.
    my source snips:
    *.xss:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <styleSheetDocument xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/style">
    <import href="blaf.xss"/>
    <styleSheet>
    <style selector=".OraTableCellText">
    <property name="color">#222222</property>
    <property name="vertical-align">top</property>
    </style>
    </styleSheet>
    </styleSheetDocument>
    my source snip for ConfigurationImpl:
    ConfigurationImpl config = new ConfigurationImpl("myConfig");
    config.putRelativeURI(Configuration.STYLES_DIRECTORY, "/public_html/styles/"); //it starts at the workingdirectory of the project, or?
    config.register();
    renderingcontext.setConfiguration(config);
    thx a lot,
    Brit

    You have to wait to call RenderingContext.setConfiguration() when you're about to render.
    If you're using UIX XML, what you'll do is subclass UIXPageBroker and override
      protected Configuration getConfiguration(
        BajaContext context,
        Page page)then tell UIX to use your page broker instead of UIXPageBroker.
    If you're using UIX JSPs, wrap your page in a <uix:renderingContext> tag with the "id"
    attribute set, then:
    <uix:renderingContext id="rc">
      <% rc.setConfiguration("myConfig"); %>
      ... rest of UIX content for your page in here ...
    </uix:renderingContext>Note that you can set the configuration by name, rather than needing to refer
    to the object directly.
    9.0.3 will make this process simpler. Stay tuned.

  • I cannot play music from my library on either my external drive or my laptop - keep getting same message "___ song (all of them) could not be used because the original file could not be found. I have tried changing the path in prefernces many times.

    I cannot play music from my libray on either my external drive or my laptop. I keep getting the same message - "___ song (all of them) could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" I have changed the path several times under preferences and it still won't recognize any songs from either my laptop hard drive or my external drive. I can't play any music at all.

    I think I've fixed this on my machine.  If you look in the ITunes folder there is a subfolder called Previous iTunes Libraries.  In my case for some reason this contained the one which had always worked and a new one was in the main  folder.  I closed iTunes, deleted the new one, and moved the old one back to the main folder, then opened iTunes.  It then rebuilt the library and it plays correctly.  Hope it works for you.

  • Unable to change my iTunes library path

    Just upgraded to itunes 11 this afternoon, wanted to change my library path to my Time Capsule, but when I select it; itunes crashes.
    Thank you and I hope there is fix for this SOON!

    Happens to me as well on Windows 8, but even earlier. When the pop-up dialog to select a new library location appears, iTunes crashes immediately.

    I bought a new, larger external hard drive. I have my iTunes library on the external drive instead of C: drive, Using Windows 7.

    Any ideas. ??

    Hello kskip,
    Thank you for providing so much information about what is going on.  It sounds like you have setup iTunes to save new content to your new external hard drive in iTunes>Preferences, but it sounds like iTunes is not opening iTunes Library.itl file on the new external drive.  You have one last step to take to have iTunes point to your new external hard drive rather than your old one:
    Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
    If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
    If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
    You should see the following screen:
    Additional information
    If you do not see the screen above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.
    Once you select "Choose Library," you will need to navigate to the iTunes Library.itl file on your new external drive.

  • Changing Logic instrument library path

    I changed the path of the instrument library in garagebamd recently to my external HDD. That works great! now how can i get logic to recognize this path so that i may use garagebands instrument library in addition to logics just as it would be if they were installed on the same disk?

    You said you are using the instrument insert menu, and then you ask where is it?
    Presumably, if you have to ask, you don't know where it is, and thus are likely to be not using it.
    I really recommend starting with at least the Getting Started menu, which explains what and where these things are with screenshots in a far better way than can be typed out in a forum post.
    In short, you need to have a software instrument track selected, and click-holding on the input slot (directly above the output slot) to get the instruments menu. This is different to the insert FX menu, which will only list the FX plugins you have installed (ie, not any instruments).

  • Computer harddrive failed- getting contents from ipod onto new harddrive?

    Itunes says that my ipod is synced with "another computer"- well, yes, it is synced with the hardrive that failed and no longer works.
    But Itunes does not seem to give the option of transfering the ipods contents onto the new hardrive (and os).
    I think I have 5 computers my purchased songs can be used on- I think I have used up 3 simply by reinstalling my OS over the last couple of years. But really, my songs are only on ONE computer. How do I delete the old accounts?
    And how do I transfer the contents onto my new harddrive- not just purchased songs but my entire mp3 collection that is on my ipod.?
    I did not back up my hardrive for about a year so I have about 100 songs that I never backed up- right now they exist only on my ipod.
    Thanx

    Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
    To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
    An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
    If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
    If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
    When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
    Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
    For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
    Find out how to do that here.
    How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
    For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
    Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
    Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
    One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
    Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
    If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
    iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
    There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

    I have WLS 5.1 SP10 running successfully on all platforms (Solaris,

    We have "worked around" this problem. We switched to the Oracle thin
    client driver and resolved the problem. We are still working with BEA
    Technical Support on this issue. I'll post updates as we get more
    information.

    I haven't tried 5.1 on AIX, but I know in 6.0 there is an error in startWebLogic.sh
    specific to AIX: it exports "LIB_PATH" when it should say "LIBPATH". I just checked
    in the 5.1 script and it appears to have the same error. You need to change the
    name "LIB_PATH" to "LIBPATH". This error is fixed in 6.1 so we can be sure there
    is at least one other person on the planet who is trying to use Weblogic on AIX.
    :-)Tom,
    Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I cannot find a reference to
    LIB_PATH in setEnv.sh or startWebLogic.sh. At this point, we are
    pursuing the possibility that the IBM JDK 1.2.2 introduced some
    incompatibilities. From the "IBM AIX Developer Kit, Java TM2
    Technology Edition, Version 1.2.2 README":
    "Because of incompatibility between the IBM AIX Developer Kit, Java
    TM2 Technology Edition, Version 1.2.2"..."JNI executable programs,
    including third-party software packages and those built for previous
    Java software releases on AIX, that were built without this binder

    release"..."Compatibility of an executable program can be verified
    using dump -ov The stdout output will show the modtype to be "UR"..."A

    /usr/java_dev2/sdk/sh. This script will help you to convert the
    modtype to UR in the optional header of your JNI executable programs
    without having to recompile the code."
    Out of the hundreds of potential files, which need to be converted?
    Based on additional information obtained by running in verbose mode,
    we were able to gather the following:
    java.sql.SQLException: System.loadLibrary threw
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError
    with the message '/apps/weblogic2/weblogic/lib/aix/oci816_8/libweblogicoci36.a:

  • "no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path" error when connecting a TNS database co

    Hi
    "no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path" error when connecting a TNS database connection
    I have the same problem 'error code' when testing the connection to a database although I have an APEX db that connects without a problem.
    I have re downloaded jre & SQL Developer just to ensure all files are where they should be with no luck.
    I've also tried most of the suggestions in various threads.
    Does anyone know what exactly causes this error?
    eg; should I be looking for a file called 'ocijdbc11' & put it into the 'java.library.path' path?
    Can anyone explain to a newbie at db connections what I should do?
    I'm using the 'thin' client as the checkbox is clear & I don't know what path to enter into the correct file to make this work??
    This is & needs to connect as a TNS connection & was working fine until recently, the only change I can think of is a move of files from the 'C' drive but I thought redownloading SQL Developer would slove this.
    Thanks

    When you reinstalled SQL Developer, did you install into a new directory (ie rename or delete the old directory first)?
    I don't know if system setup contains directory references (which might be invalid after moving the location of SQL Developer). Does renaming your system2.1.1.64.45 directory (in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\SQL Developer) help? Note that your connections are in the connections.xml file in the o.jdeveloper.db.connection.11.1.1.2.36.55.30 subdirectory of system2.1.1.64.45 - you will either need to export connections before renaming and then import again after or copy this file to test if you can connect.
    Finally, the TNS Names directory preference is just a way of telling SQL Developer where to look for the tnsnames.ora file, rather than just assuming it will pick the right one. If you go to create a new connection, do you get the right list of TNS aliases? If not, then set this preference to the directory where the right tnsnames.ora file lives.

    Thanks,

    This happens with WebLogic every time when Windows version changes:
    in 1.3.1 system property "os.name" is "windows 2000" when running on XP, and
    in 1.4 it is "windows XP". Since Windows names are hardcoded somewhere in
    WebLogic,
    and it doesn't know anything about Windows XP, it thinks that it is running
    on Unix and
    attempts to load Posix performance pack (as you can see in the exception
    stacktrace).
    You can fix this by adding -Dos.name="windows 2000" to the command line.

  • How to change Cache path of Adobe Drive manually?

    Hi there,
    i have a problem with one of my clients running Adobe Drive 2.1. The Operatingsystem Username of the Standard User on the Client computer was changed (MAC OSX) and now Adobe Drive links its cache file to the old user profile folder. If i try to change it in the Drive settings, it says something like "cannot be done, try again later". Think it must be a rights problem. Tried different ways with new users in the system, drive reinstllation with deletion of preferences a.so. still with the same result, i can't change the path to the cache folder in Adobe Drive and this prevents me from logging in to the cmis server. So the client can't use the Connector and Bridge to handle the connection to the cmis server - a bit unhandy
    I think there must be a file in which the cache path of Adobe Drive is hardcoded, but i haven't found the correct file yet (looked in the package contents of Adobe Drive via the Mac Finder). Can you give me a hint, where i can find the cache-path entry?
    Many thanks.
    best regards,
    Volker

    Hi LUXMEDIA,
    To change cache path manully, please follow the below steps:
    Assuming that the original cache location is /User/userA/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/diskcache, the new cache location is /User/userB/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/diskcache
    1. Quit Adobe Drive, and kill CS5ServiceManager
    2. Copy files under  /User/userA/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/diskcache to /User/userB/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/diskcache
    3. Launch Terminal, input the following commands:
    3.1 cd  /User/userB/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/configuration
    3.2 ls -al
    you will see .settings folder
    3.3 cd .settings
    3.4 ls -al
    you will see a file with the name org.eclipse.core.runtime.preferences.OSGiPreferences.11.prefs
    3.5 vi org.eclipse.core.runtime.preferences.OSGiPreferences.11.prefs
    change 'system/cache_location' value to '/User/userB/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/diskcache'
    4. Relaunch Adobe Drive, go to settings panel, you'll see that the cache path has been updated.
    Thanks,
    Hui
