New HP envy 5530 won't print from my computer

I just installed my HP envy 5530 through a wireless connection. It will not print anything from my computer. It shows it is printing but then the printer doesn't do anything. I can print from my andriod phone though. I have tried using the HP print and scan doctor. It says everything is fine. When I try to print a test page it doens't do anything- it will print an internal test page though. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software (I also removed all old HP software)- that didn't help. I also tried turning off my firewalls- also didn't help. Not sure what else to do.
I have windows 8.1 and an acer computer. I have had wireless printers before (HP) and never had a problem.
Thanks for your help.
Tara

Hi usmc_roque,
Thank you for your reply.
I would suggest the following:
- Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
- Remove USB cable.
- Reboot PC.
- Download and re-install the software. HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers . click the next button next to the Operating System type. (Make sure to choose Windows XP), scroll down, and click on Driver - Product Installation Software (1), then click on the blue download button next to HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers to download the driver.
Try this as the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows, is only compatible with Windows 7, and up to Windows 8.1.
Hi dwneylonsr,
Thank you for your response.
I would suggest to power off the PC, then the printer. Unplug the power to your router for 30 seconds, plug the router back in. Then turn back on the printer, then the PC. After that try to Uninstall the Printer Software, and re-install again. HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this information helps, and have a good day.

I'm not sure if anybody is having this same problem but iPhoto 9.5.1 won't let me print in color on my new HP Envy 5530. It's brand new and I have color ink in it, but I'm only shown and option to print in black and white. Has anybody run into this problem?

  • HP 2050 deskjet all in one -- will scan but won't print from this computer

My deskjet 2050 will scan from both of my macbook computers, but will only print from one.  It gives an "on hold" message whenever I print from this computer.  Then I hit "resume" and it says "nothing is being held."  I have already downloaded and re-installed the driver, and it didn't make any difference.
It prints fine from the other computer, but it's a pain to have that limitation.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Hello @CazzoInMano , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into print issues.  I would like to help with that!
What version of mac are you using?
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Deskjet 2050 All-in-One Printer.

  • HP Envy 5530 won't print in color from Mac

My printer won't print anything in color from my Mac. I've tried printing from Word and from a PDF, and each time only black ink will show up. I've tried:Removing the black ink catridge and printing with just colorShaking the color ink cartridgeRemoving and putting back the color ink cartridgePrinting a test page (color doesn't work for this, either- nothing prints at all when I do this)Double and triple checking my print settings The only ink color that my computer says is "low" is yellow. I'm printing wirelessly, but because black ink prints fine, I'm willing to bet there's no connection problems. DO NOT try to sell me more ink; I am already upset with HP enough as it is. The last thing I want to do right now is buy more of its ineffective products. Please help me fix this problem.

  • HP Envy 5530 won't print wirelessly

I have a laptop, mobile and desktop at my house. When I first bought my printer, it connected through my wireless BT hub fine. The password worked and it printed from my mobile as well. Then I tried printing a month later. It would not work, despite saying it was connected. My other computer Windows 7 computer and I have a Windows 7 laptop. We also missed out on a InstantInk black cartridge. It still is recognised by the desktop computer. It just won't print on command. We had to buy a USB cable for the laptop. That will work.  I bought this printer to make it easy for all of our devices to print. I don't understand why it started working, then suddenly stopped. We ran diagnostics and also phoned the HP helpline. No one could help us. Please let us know what is wrong as we haven't changed any wireless settings. The hub remains the same and our other devices in our home can use the internet. I will have to return this printer if it doesn't work soon. I bought it in November.

Initially it printed blank sheets but now nothing is happening. It also says on my iPad that the printer is low on ink which it is not. Thank you

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Try restarting everything, including your home network Router.
If that does not work, then you might try reinstalling the printer App on the iPad.  I realize that is extreme, but the app connection is whonked and the app is talking to the "old" setup.  It needs to know things are OK.

  • Envy 5530 won't print or scan

Out of the blue I am unable to print via usb or wirelessly.  I have tried the "Doctor" which keeps saying I do not have the "full" software and/or driver package.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled what seems like 67 times.  I have tried numerous fixes from the forum, all with no results. (Clean boot - DL software/drivers for Envy 5531, etc)  My printer has wireless set up, but no computer found.  I'm just going around & around with no solution in sight.  If I'm seem frustrated, I am after spending 3-4 hours to get a document scanned (or even printed) that is necessary for medical reasons. Since I can't use it as a door stop or paperweight, ready to toss into dumpster.  Printing should't be this hard!Thank you for letting me vent.  Any help would be much, much appreciated. Toshiba satellite laptop   Win 8.1 64bit Steve

Thank you for getting back to me @rjrabbit!
If the printer is having troubles performing a photo copy then you are likely looking at a hardware or power issue and not a software issue.  To ensure the printer is still receiving full power it is recommend to plug the power into the wall directly and not a power surge protector.  It may sounds silly but is a good way to ensure power is not a factor and may eliminate any unnecessary troubleshooting.
If you find your still getting the copy and scan issue when the printer is into a direct power source I suggest checking the firmware version on the printer.  I was able to locate a firmware update for the ENVY 5530 on the HP web site.  You will want to check the firmware version on the printer first.
To check the current firmware version on printer, you can print a status report.
    To print a status report:
Press the Setup (wrench) icon at the top of the printer touch screen
    Press Tools
    Press Print Status Report
Once you locate the firmware version on the printer Status Report check to see if it matches Version ORL1CN1418AR.  If not, then I recommend following this link to HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update.  Download and run the Firmware update.  Its recommended (if you have one) to have the printer plugged in USB when running a firmware update.
Thanks again for posting on the HP Forums!  I hope this helps and please post back and let me know how it goes.

  • HP Envy 4500 - Won't print from Notepad

I have a really bizarre problem. I have bought a new printer - HP Envy 4500 - and set it up fine. It's wireless which works brilliantly, I've been able to print from web pages, word documents, pictures etc. but today when I tried to print from the notepad it just would not work. It shows up in the printer queue, says it's printing, but nothing comes out of the printer. I copy and pasted the words I wanted to print from notepad, in to the word document and it printed fine. Any ideas?

  • Hp envy 5530 won't print

I recently purchased a HP Envy 5530 printer.  After setting it up, it would not print.  I am using the USB cable, but also tried the wirless, and neither works.
I have a HP Pavilion dv9500 laptop.  It is running Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack1 and is the 32 bit operating system.
The printer reads as installed.  It is indicated as the selected printer and that it is online.  When I try to print from any application, I get the little printer incon, but it shows 0 documents in the queue.   The printer box which pops up from the application shows that the printer is selected but idle.
I have made sure I have all the Widows and HP updates.  I have run the printer diagnostic, the HP Print and Scan Doctor,  and Troubleshoot HP Instalation Failure - MSI following all the steps recommended.  None of these resolve the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HP Envy 4500 won't print from computer

    Hi,
My HP Envy 4500 has been working perfectly for quite some time now.  Unfortunately, it has stopped printing from my Dell laptop, running Windows7. It scans to the laptop just fine.  It copies fine, and it prints from my iPhone fine.
I have looked at a ton of posts and tried many things:
*uninstall/reinstall wirelessly (at least 8 times) -- via the https://123.hpconnected.com/activate/woobe/ENVY4500 site
    *uninstall/reinstall via USB
*ran print/scan doctor utility (or whatever it is called) and been told everything looks fine
*sending a test page via one of HP's tool is fine, however, printing the internal test page via the HP tool fails
I am losing my mind and would really appreciate some help.
    Thank you!

    Hello @JNZM,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue that you're experiencing when trying to print from your Windows 7 computer to your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps you have completed prior to reaching out for support. At this time I will be running you through some troubleshooting steps to check the actual print system on your computer. The Print Spooler is what controls printing from Windows computers. It is built into the Operating System. If the Print Spooler is experiencing issues than you will experience printing conflicts. Should the Print Spooler be experiencing a conflict, the software and scanning feature for the printer will not be affected. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
    Step 1: Check Print Spooler:
    Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start type services.msc and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Services window opens scroll down until you see Print Spooler
Click on Print Spooler once just to highlight it
If you see Start in the top left hand corner than that indicates that  your Print Spooler is in fact Stopped (not good). But we will leave this for now.
If you see Stop or Restart in the top left hand corner than this indicates that your Print Spooler is actually Started. Please click on Stop to temporarily Stop the service.
Minimize this window as we will need to come back here
    Step 2: Check Spooler Folder:
    Click on your Start menu
    Select Computer
In the Computer window select your C Drive
    Click on Windows
    Click System32
    Click Spool
Click PRINTERS. You may get a permissions warning, just Continue past this.
The PRINTERS folder should be empty. If there is any files in here they are corrupted print jobs. Right click on anything in this folder and 'delete' the files.
    Close the PRINTERS folder
    Step 3: Start Spooler:
Reopen the Services window we previously minimized
Click on Print Spooler again to highlight it
Click on Start in the top left corner
If you get an error message please take note of it
If the Print Spooler starts successfully you will see 'Stop and Restart' as your options in the top left
Once the Print Spooler has started please test printing again. If printing fails, or if the Print Spooler fails to start, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 4: Run Microsoft Fixit:
I'm going to have you run a Microsoft Print Fixit Tool to identify and correct any print system issues or Registry corruptions on the computer.
Please click here to access the Microsoft Fixit website
Once the page opens under section (2) select Print, fax, scan, share or save.
Under section (3) select Run Now for Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically
Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen instructions to run the Microsoft Tool
Once the Fix has run, please test printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. You can also say 'thanks' for responding by clicking the 'thumbs up' icon below. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • HP Envy 7645 won't print from photo tray

FIXED my own problem!Never thought to try setting the paper size to 4x6 in/10x25 cm! That's apparently what I get for being metric-phobic (or ignorant). But really, why provide a 4x6 option in the first place?  I can't get my Envy 7645 printer to print from the photo tray.  I'm specifically trying to print from the Photos app. I select the print option, set the printer, paper size (4x6), and paper options to "print from photo tray." I select print, and the HP print dialog appears and from there I am unable to set the photo tray as the paper source. The dialog comes up with "Default Settings" as the Presets option and when I scroll down through the dialog to select the Paper Type/Quality option, it shows paper type as HP Photo Papers, Quality is set to Normal, and the Source is set to Automatic (which fails to print from the photo tray; it defaults to the main tray). When I try to shift from Automatic to Photo Tray, I get an error message that says "The paper size selected is not supported by the Photo Tray. To print with the Photo Tray, go to the Page Setup dialog, choose a paper size supported by this tray, and then return to the Print dialog." At this point, I have no idea where to find the Page Setup dialog (it's not immediately apparent in the avialable options and I can't seem to find it under any of the Photos print options). Further, I don't understand why I'm getting the error in the first place as the paper installed in the tray is, indeed, 4x6 (as set in the original Photos dialog). I've tried playing with any number of varities of options (e.g, changing from HP Photo Papers to the generic other photo papers option, not specifying size of photo paper) and any time I select the photo tray option, I get the error message.

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  Did you still need assistance?  I see that you have some interface questions about printing photos from a Yosemite Mac using your HP ENVY 7645 e-All-in-One Printer.  I would like to help.  Have you installed your printer's full-feature driver on the Mac?  If not, click here to install. Also, for your information, your printer's specifications re: supported photo paper sizes is available here.       When I tried printing a photo from my Yosemite machine (albeit with a different printer) this is how I configured the print job:   If I had the option I would also recommend setting the paper type to correspond with whatever kind of photo paper you're using.  If this approach doesn't help try the following steps:  Uninstall your printer - click here for instructions.  Repair disk permissions on your Mac - click here for instructions.  Once you've finished running the above-noted utility, restart your computer. Lastly, click here to reinstall your printer.  Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

  • New HP Photosmart 7520 won't print from photo tray

EDIT:  It will feed from the phototray if I print the photo from the Windows Photo Viewer.  However, it still refuses to print straight from the jpg, even though I explicitly specify in all the settings that I want to print a 4x6 from the photo tray. Is this typical behavior? I assume it would print correctly from other photo editing and viewing software, but haven't checked that yet so cannot be certain. PREVIOUS POST: I just got this printer, and cannot make it print from the photo tray.  It printed from the phototray during the installation and setup, but that was the only time.  The rest of the time, when I try to print a picture, it only selects from the regular paper tray. Is there some magical procedure involved?  I have a Windows 7 operating system, and just installed everything from the HP site.  I uninstalled and reinstalled, but still it doesn't work. I load a sheet in the phototray, make sure the correct printer is set, select the paper size (in this case 4x6in, the sample photo paper that came with the printer), select HP Everyday Photo Paper, Glossy, click Print, and the printer ignores the phototray and prints from the regular paper tray. I have scoured the web and the answers provided do not solve the problem.  This is very frustrating.  If I cannot get this resolved in another day or two, I will be returning this printer and will try a different brand.

I have already looked at that link and tried all the things I can try at home, aside from replacing the print heads.  Nothing works.  The magenta seems to be the biggest offender.  When I print photos that have a lot of magenta in them, I also get the horizontal lines, so it is not just the regular paper used by the printer's quality report (my first suspicion, sadly proven wrong). I see now that this printer also cuts off the image when printing a borderless photo.  I have not found a solution for that yet, either.  It also went crazy in the middle of a print job (told me that I needed to power it off, lost its wireless connection, regained its connection, but would not talk to the computer).  I had to turn it off and on again to reset it, and after that it seemed to print, at least. This printer has been a very expensive mistake, considering the ink and paper I have gone through in the past week.  I have four days to decide if I want to return it and just eat the cost of the ink cartridges.  I am seriously considering it at this point, but will try to work things out for another day or two.

  • Won't print from other computer

When I send an email from my laptop to print the printer recognises it as spam and won't print it ,HP deskjet 3070A,Vista,new set u

    Hi Sparkle1,
There are a few things that could cause your email to be rejected by the spam filter.  Here's a list of things to check when you send an email to make sure this doesn't happen:
    1.  The printer's address is the only recipient (this includes To:, Cc:, and Bcc: fields).
    2.  The subject line and body of the email both contain text and aren't blank.
    3.  There are fewer than 10 file attachments, and the total size doesn't exceed 5MB.
    4.  If the email is being forwarded, make sure the "FW:" tag is removed from the subject line.
Let me know if these help!
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • My printer (HP Photosmart D7360) won't print from my computer.

When I try to print something like an Open Office  (.odt) or Word (.doc) document,  I  get no error message, it just doesn't print. The same thing happens when I try to print out recipes that I've downloaded, or e-mail. When I go to "printer settings" I get a message that says: "No default printer found. Please choose a printer and try again."  When I click on OK, I get a screen up that says:  "Printer Setup/ Name: (((hi-lited)))HP Photosmart D7300 Series/ Status: Default printer; Ready/ Type: HP Photosmart D7300 Series/Location: USB001/ Comment: (((none)))" Below this are 4 buttons, (Options) (((alone on the left))), (OK) and (Cancel) (((Center right))) and (Help) (((alone on the right))). If I click on the "OK" button, the screen disappears, and nothing else happens. Exactly the same thing happens with the "Cancel" button. The Control Panel/Devices & Printers screen shows the HP Photosmart D7300 series as the default printer.  Without questions, I don't know what else to say. This is a great pain in the butt.

    Hello @CBJack,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing issues when trying to print from certain programs on your Windows 7 computer to your HP Photosmart D7360 Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this printing issue. It does appear that there is a driver conflict occuring on your computer. That may mean that your driver is not correctly installed, or the correct driver is installed but certain programs aren't 'agreeing' with that driver. I will be running you through some troubleshooting steps below to isolate this issue and resolve this issue. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Step 1: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool:
To start troubleshooting I am going to have you download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computer and 'fix printing' issues for you. Should any driver, software, or connection conflicts be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you. Please click here to download the Tool. Once the Tool has downloaded please run the 'Fix Printing' option under the Tool. Once the Tool has completed please test printing again. Should no issues be found under the HP Print and Scan Doctor, but the printing conflict still occurs, there is likely a driver issue occuring between your printer driver and the programs that you're experiencing an issue printing from. Please proceed with the steps below to resolve this.
    Step 2: Alter Driver:
I am going to have you install an alternate print driver on your HP Photosmart. Once the alternate driver is installed I will have you test printing to verify if the issue is resolved.
    Click on your Start menu
    Select Devices and Printers
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Photosmart D7360 Printer and left click on Printer Properties
Left click on the Advanced tab
    Left click on New Driver
When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left
Select Deskjet 9800 as the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard
Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
    Select the General tab
Rename your printer back to HP Photosmart D7360 Printer
    Hit OK
Lastly, right click on your HP Photosmart D7360 Printer one more time and left click on Printing Preferences
Left click on the Paper/Quality tab
Left click on the 'Normal' dropdown for Print Quality on the bottom right and change this to Fast Normal
    Hit Apply and OK
Now that the alternate driver is added in please try printing from the programs you were previously experiencing issues with.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Best of luck!

  • Printer won't print from desktop computer

My printer was printing fine until I went away on vacation. I shut off my computer and printer while I was away. When I came home, I started up the computer and printer and the printer would not print from my desktop. I can print wirelessly from my devices (IPhone and laptop) but not from the desktop computer. I have tried the HP Doctor program (did not help), have tried plugging the printer directly into the computer through a USB port (dopesn't help) and tried it without a printer cable. Everything was fine when I left--now it won't print at all.  I'm thinking it somehow dropped something it needs to print successfully? Any suggestions?

Hello ! Thanks for posting on the HP forums!  I should be able to provide some help regarding the printer issue. You mentioned that the printer is able to print wirelessly from other devices such as your iPhone and other laptop.  This sounds like there may be either a software issue in the current computer or a firewall in the current computer blocking the printer.  If it was working before i doubt it is firewall but it can still be a factor.  The first thing I would recommend is t uninstall and reinstall the HP software.  To uninstall the software i would recommend following this document regarding Uninstalling the Printer Software.  In the document click on Windows 8 and follow the steps.  After the uninstall is finished it is recommended to restart the computer before you re-install. When running the install of the HP software it should locate the printer as WiFi connected and set it up correctly.  Let me know how it goes!
