New Iphone but OSA  shown Product has been replaced.. STRANGE!

I (based Malaysia) got a iphone 3gs 32G as a present from my relative based at UK, she told me that the iphone is factory unlocked. after i got it, i try to insert local carries into iphone and when trying to activate it, I am getting an error from iTunes saying 'The sim card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported'. i then tried to check the status of warranty (IMEI) at Online Service Assistant. when i entered the IMEI number, status shown 'We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number'. i stunned with this status and i eventually call to UK apple care to inform the issue. they told me that the product has been replace due to original's screen was spoiled and replacement is claimed under warranty. they ask me to provide the receipt in order to confirm the ownership. Unfortunately, my relative has lost the receipt so i am afraid it would hinder the new replacement. I email the apple representative but he seems do not entertain my claim despite i could prove the iphone still in new in box.
Is that possible apple will produce two different iphone with same IMEI? i just wonder how could my iphone has been replace? any suggestion?
I sent several emails to apple care consultant but got no reply from him. anyone out there could advise me what to do?

If relative purchased phone with credit/debit card, issuing bank should be able to provide copy of receipt. If relative is setup to do banking on line, relative may be able to download copy of receipt without contacting bank. If purchase was cash, retailer may be able to search its records if time and date are known; retailer may have no desire to do so and probably is under no obligation to comply. Photograph box showing iPhone serial # & IMEI and email as attachment to Applecare consultant to see if that will help your claim. If all else fails, return iPhone to relative in UK and have her deal with seller.

  • Just purchased an upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 : "valid serial number but no eligible product has been detected"... Any ideas?

    Hi,
just purchased finally the upgrade for CS6 from CS5.5 Design Premium. I have a BIG problem. When I run the installation file, I put the serial for the upgrade => OK, then I have this message : "valid serial number but no eligible product has been detected", and asks me to put a serial of my actual version. I choose "Design Premium CS 5.5" with the good serial number and then I have this message : "the serial number did not match with a eligible product. Please enter an other serial"... Any ideas???
Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

Yes, I was sure about this, but their offices are closed now, so I tryed to see if somebody have an idea Thank you for your reply.

Instead of posting your IMEI in a public forum, contact iTunes Customer Support.
FYI, they do not want/need your IMEI number.

  • Our records indicate that this product has been replaced ?!

I bought my iPhone 4 couple of month ago and after selling my mac to get a new MacBook I wanted to sync it with my itunes... issue, itunes seams to be showing that no APP will be present on my phone once I sync it. So I wanted to check the support page... What a surprised, when I enter my serial number I got this message:
"Our records indicate that this product has been replaced. Please provide your product's replacement serial number to find its support and warranty coverage information. For more information, please contact us. "
What the H !? I bought the phone, brand new at an apple store probably 3 month ago or so.
Any Idea ? How and who should I contact ?

First, in regards to iTunes content an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first. An exception is if you transfer your iTunes library from the old computer to the new or different computer following the instructions included with this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
All iTunes content on your iPhone - all music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Did you transfer your iTunes library from your old Mac to your new Mac and if so, how was this done?
If the 3rd party apps on your iPhone are not in your iTunes library on your computer which means you didn't have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your old Mac, first you need to authorize your new Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. This will transfer all iTunes content from your iPhone that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store that is not currently available in your iTunes library on your new Mac. After confirming all apps on your iPhone are in your iTunes library on your new Mac, select Sync Apps under the Apps tab and make sure all apps currently installed on your iPhone are selected below.
Regarding the other, you can call AppleCare.

I have a horrible time with my new Iphone-4, No SIM card found issues and while i tried to contact customer care with device serial number getting a messgae of "Our records indicate that this product has been replaced. Please provide the serial number for your replacement product to find the support and warranty coverage information. For more information, please contact us."
What step should i take next.

Where did you get the phone?
That phone was replaced by Apple or an AASP and was not returned to Apple as it should have been, or it was stolen from Apple or somewhere in the supply chain.
You can not get support from Apple for that phone.
Return it to wherever you got it and get your money back.

  • I have a 4th Gen Itouch non-responsive - says product has been replaced?

I'm stationed here in S. Korea - I purchased the phone on a military installation. I have had the Itouch for about 2 months then it just shut off randomly one day. Non-responsive, will not charge.. I've tried everything from different cables, hard reset, will not recognize on itunes at all. no water damage. I entered in my serial # and it says the product has been replaced? It has not been replaced.
How can I find out more information about this?

An iPod will not pair to a computer via BT.  The iPod doe not have the necessary profile to support that.  Sorry.  Also see the following:

  • "This product has been replaced"! what does this mean??!!

I purchased a used iphone 5s. when I check the serial number it tells that this product has been replaced, what does this mean? am i still able to use it? what should I do??

It means that the iPhone was returned to Apple because it was defective, and the owner was given or purchased a replacement. That phone can never be used. It was probably stolen in transit to an Apple refurbishing facility.

  • Bought my iPhone 5 online, it needs repairs but apple says it has been replaced. will they still repair it?

Long story short the iPhone heated up and since then has random grey lines down the middle. It "controls itself" or won't work whenever those lines appear. Apple asked for the serial number however it says it has been replaced. I bought it online so i'm not too sure what to do now. will apple still repair it?

You can ask, but most likely answer is Apple will not repair it. That message
means the iPhone has been replaced and should have been turned back into
Apple, but it was resold instead. If you bought from eBay or other service that
offers buyer protection, start a claim for a refund unless the iPhone was described
    as replaced.

  • A Locked iphone but no pass code has been set up?

I have a iphone that is locked with a pass code but have not set it up for one & not on Itune

Did you purchase this device new? The iPhone cannot just create its own passcode. You have to enter one yourself. If you have forgotten your passcode, then you will need to restore the phone .See this support document for a forgotten passcode. iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled

  • When i enter my iPhone serial number in support section it says "this product has been replaced"! what does it mean?

    ***NOTE: I'm Iranian user***

It means the phone you have in your possession was replaced under warranty. If true, the phone should not have been re-sold. Rather it should have been sent back to Apple for refurbishment, where it would then have gotten a new SN.
