New Ipod Touch not being recognised by itunes

Hi, can someone please help!
I purchased a new iPod touch (the one with the camera )the other day and yet so far iTunes nor my computer has recognized it.
I have tried many things:
Updating itunes
Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes
Unblocking itunes related software in my firewall
Trying different USB ports
Turning ipod off and on in different ways
Restarting computer
Using different usb cords
Nothing has worked so far! My computer meets the requirements i think. Its a windows professional with a service pack 3 and it has usb 2.0 ports. I have a working itunes account and store and i have itunes version 10.1. My ipod has full charge also
My computer makes the noise when something is plugged in, yet my ipod is not appearing under devices on itunes. My old nano is being picked up fine yet my new ipod touch isnt!
I dont know whether i should return to the store i purchased it at or if it is a computer malfunction thats the probelm.
Please please help! I've reached a dead end!

Try it on another computer.

  • IPod touch not being recognised by iTunes, recognised in "My Computer"

    Hello,
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, I have iTunes 10.
I have tried restoring the iPod touch, I have tried switching it on and off. I have tried with each USB port, my security settings are fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I have restarted the computer. I have reset the ipod.
It has still not been recognised by iTunes.
What can I do to get the iPod touch to be recognised by iTunes?
vvv on "My Computer" at the bottom I can see this. Here I can access my DCIM folder, which contains some photos and videos.
    iPod information; Version: 5.1.1 (9B206) Model: MD057BT
    6GB 4th Generation
    Thanks,
    Aimee.

So the Apple Mobile Device serviced is installed and running on your system? You tried to uninstall and re-install iTunes and all Apple related software?

Simply responding yes doesn't do much to help.  We need as much detail as we can get in order to help you troubleshoot this issue. Otherwise, we are just pulling at straws.

  • IPod Touch not being recognised on newly-installed OSX Leopard (10.5.4)

I have an iPod Touch (software version 2.0.2) which is not being recognised in OSX Leopard (version 10.5.4) which I just loaded onto the Powerbook G4. It was recognised under OSX 10.4, although the iPod Touch didn't launch iTunes when it was connected. It was only recognised after iTunes was launched.
I have read some previous posts about iPod Touch not being recognised. One of the recommendations is to reinstall the entire iTunes package. It this must be done to sort the problem, will all of the music in iTunes be lost?
Note my daughter's iPod, when connected, launches iTunes and is recognised.
    Help, please.

    Hi,
Reinstalling iTunes *will not* erase your music library.
As a matter of course I do, and in fact Apple recommend that you back up your music library, there is an option to do this under "File" in iTunes. It is really quite sensible to have your purchased and other music files saved elsewhere as well as on your main hard drive, it can save a lot of time and hassle.
    Good luck,
    Dud.

  • Ipod Touch not being recognised/unknown device

Ipod Touch not being recognised - help!?
    It says it's a code 43 - Unknown device/device not recognised. Doesn't sound good.
Tried all of the things the itunes website suggested such as of course turning it off and on again, restarting services, reinstalling itunes. I know from experience that when you take it in to the shop they want to charge you almost as much as you bought it for to fix a minor problem. Thanks

  • HT1369 Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed and mobile programs associated with my non apple cellpho

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
    Go to 'Settings'
    'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!

I have an unknown error (1621) and my iPod is not being recognised in iTunes or the Finder, even in Disc mode.  Anyone know what's going on?

Try and force iPod into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPod
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • My ipad (mini) and ipod are not being recognised by itunes?

When connecting both my ipad(mini) and ipod(7th gen) they are not being recognised by itunes.  I last connected just over a month ago and everything was fine.  When I last connected I also connected my old ipod(3rd gen) to add new playlists beforing giving to someone else.  When I first plugged in I got a message saying that the cable was not Apple authorised - both my cables are cables supplied with my ipod/ipad so came from Apple?  When I run diagnostics it says
"Most recent devices not currently connected,  - iPod Nano (3rd Gen) and iPad Mini running firmware 6.1.3"  This is the first time I have tried to connect since updated my iPad with IOS7?  Please help I wanted to put Christmas playlists on both devices.....!

  • Touch not being recognised by itunes only autoplay, frustrating!

Ever since I downloaded Itunes 8 my ipod hasn't been recognised by itunes and keeps coming up with autoplay or digital camera whenever I plug it in. I have tried uninstalling itunes, reinstalling it, resetting my touch, stoping and starting the device, disabling it in device manager, uninstalling it in device manager, updating driver details (though it gives me more options to open it as another device though it warns strongly against it as it might cause my system or touch to stop working properly). I'm sure it is more a problem with my useless laptop more than itunes 8 but I can't think how to fix it. I'm so tempted to wipe my comp and start everything again.
    Thanks for any help.

Sorry I do not have an answer but I am getting exactly the same problem.
I have 3 iPods and am running the latest version of iTunes.
2 of them connect without a problem (80Gb Classic and 1Gb shuffle) however I have just got a brand new 8Gb (4th Gen) nano and this will not appear in iTunes.
Problem: Autoplay runs every time with the nano and occasionally I get messages from iTunes that the iPod needs to be formatted for windows or is corrupt and needs restoring. I do this and the iPod restores but then does not appear in the iTunes window after restore.
Windows XP seems to think it is a USB disk and runs Autoplay everytime I connect.
I have tried changing the assigned drive letter in case of conflict andalso disabling autoplay but nothing has helped. I have sent the nano back to apple and it has been returned saying everything is fine.
It should not be this difficult!

  • IPod Touch not being recognised

Bought a new iPod Touch on Friday and connected it instantly and without any problems to my MacBook. Later that evening, I attempted to connect it also to my iMac running Leopard and this did not work. I have since re-installed Tiger on my iMac but it still will not work via any given USB port (avoiding hubs). What is wrong? It can surely connect to more than one Mac, can't it? Any clues? I have tried all the usual options (and yes, it is listed in about this mac/hardware)

    Hey Éamonn,
Make sure the iPod is directly connected to the back of the iMac with the cable that came with the iPod.
Make sure the computers OS is updated to 10.4.10 or later.
The next trouble shooting step is reinstalling the Apple Mobile Device Service.

  • How do I resolve the issue of a 2nd generation iPod touch not being shown on iTunes 11.4?

2nd generation iPod not being shown on iTunes 11.4
How do I resolve this issue? I have tried reinstalling after uninstalling it, nothing has worked for me any advice?

Well, go ahead and try every port, make sure to clean out the port with a q-tip, to make sure no dust is blocking the ports.
Then enter DFU, if iTunes doesnt recoginze it when your in DFU, that means you charging input is damadged.
    Hope this help

  • IPod shuffle not being recognised in iTunes in a new country

Hi there, I initially used my iPod shuffle (4th Generation) in Australia on my laptop and it was recognised in iTunes with no problem. Now I want to connect my iPod shuffle on a new computer in Greece. My iPod shuffle however is being recognised in 'my computer', but not in iTunes.
Help would be most appreciated ASAP, what should I do?
    Thank you!

The flashing light is good.  It means that the system (the OS) is seeing the iPod's "disk," and it is actually mounted.  When the light is flashing, it means DO NOT DISCONNECT (eject shuffle before physically disconnecting).
When do get this error code?  Is it when the iPod is syncing with iTunes?
If you have other USB devices connected, you may want to try it after shutting down (powering off) the computer and disconnecting all USB devices, including any hub.  You can leave standard keyboard and mouse connected, if normally used.  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.  Do this to reset your shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer.  Any difference?

  • IPod Touch not being recognised in Windows XP or iTunes - HELP!!!!!

    Hi.
I have just bought a 16gb iPod Touch which I am trying to use on Windows XP.
When I connect the iPod to my PC it brings up the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' but does not open up iTunes.
On the Hardware Wizard it trys to search for the driver but cannot locate it, whenever it tries to search it comes back saying "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot locate the necessary software".
I have uninstalled iTunes, Apple Software Updater and Apple Mobile Device Support, and then reinstalled these with iTunes V7.5, but can't get anything to work so that my iPod comes up in iTunes.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!! Thanks.

Hi, sounds like me and CJ2000 are having exactly the same problem!
I've gone through all of the suggested fixes, and spent 78 minutes on the phone to Apple Care last night but still not working.
But, I just tried it with my friends PC and it worked fine, so its definitely a PC issue. What I noticed was that when I plugged it into the other PC it brought up a bubble saying "found new hardware", but then straight away found the USB Driver without needing the "Found New Hardware Wizard". iTunes then opened up automatically.
It seems that my PC seems to have problems locating the USB Driver for the Touch, any suggestions?
    Thanks very much.
