New keyboard layout appeared after update - how to remove it?

Hello community,
I'm using two keyboard layouts RU and DE and switching them with Ctrl+Shift. After a recent update a third keyboard layout appeared - US. I checked /etc/X11/xorg.conf, /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi and /etc/rc.conf but in all of them there is no US layout. Setting everything there up for the DE and RU layout didn't help, still the US layout is in the layouts list in Gnome. If I remove it from that list, it appears after the next reboot. So how can I go rid of it?
Here are the config files:

Thanks for your input, guys, I think, this issue has been already reported (quite a long time ago) which is even the top entry of the most wanted tasks: http://bugs.archlinux.org/toplevel/proj1 So the only thing we can do is to follow the comments and to hope for a fix.

  • Hit PrtSc on new keyboard layout and lost clipboard data?

The new keyboard layout place the PrtSc button at the bottom row of the keyboard between left Alt anc Ctrl.
I think some of you might have already tried that, when you try to press the right Ctrl or Alt (for example try to press Ctrl+V... etc) or even just accidentally hit the PrtSc key, and then the text that you copied will be cleared in the clipboard so you need to go back and copy again.
Even worse: You can't recover if you cut and closed the application, then hit PrtSc and let the clipboard to be overwritten!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are two ways to deal with the problem: (1) bypass Windows print sceren functionality or (2) install a clipboard manager.
To bypass Windows print sceren functionality you can install a program. An opensource example is Lightscreen. You can configure it to directly save the print screen into your document directory instead of overwriting the clipboard. There is an extra benefit, that you don't need to do print screen, then open Paint, then paste, then save the image just to upload or save it.
An opensource example of clipboard manager is Ditto. It tracks changes in the clipboard and save a history of everything. In case if the PrtSc key overwritten the clipboard, most of the time you will be able to recover.

  • We need new keyboard layout in Korea.

    Hi~
We need new keyboard layout in Korea.
The Google offers new keyboard layout for the Korean language.
It is called 'single vowel keyboard'
It has 4 less keys. So one key size can be wider than that of qwerty keyboard.
It is much easier to type and creates much less mistyping.
I hope apple would offer the same keyboard layout.
    Sincerely,

Here is the image file of new keyboard layout.
    I hope it will help.

    Hello SHenoudabak,
It sounds like you are trying to find the Personal Hotspot option in your Settings. You were close. The option is directly under Settings, and not in the Cellular section of Settings:
Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot
    Personal Hotspot - iPhone
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Does anyone know how to make an icon for a new keyboard layout?

I have added a couple of keyboard layouts to my input sources and would dearly provide them with distinctive icons, but all icon makers I find on the net seem to cater to PCs only.

Going to the App Store, there is a link for support.   That takes me to a facebook page:
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Friendly-for-Netflix/
Which when I lookup the info, takes me to:
    http://www.oecoway.com/
Since there are no support links on the latter link, I would just message the owner of the Facebook page and tell them of your troubles.  If they are non-responsive, you may want to just as the App Store reverse the charge, with the feedback that the developer is non-responsive to user questions.  If it is functional for the $5 you paid, just keep it, and hope for an update you can use.

  • SOLVED Spanish keyboard stopped loading after update, upgrade

I am trying archlinux. The newest stable version with updates, and kde 4.3.2.  Brilliant it is.  However, after a few weeks of perfect use today I booted up and found, I think, US keyboard instead of Spanish one.  Apart from a standard update and upgrade, I do not think I have changed anything.
I tried system settings and chose regional and language/keyboard layout.  It gives me an error message only.  Cannot cut and paste but it sayd something like> Cannot load /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_keyboard_layout.so (libxklavier.so.12. Cannot open shared object file. No such file or directory) Cannot load library.
I check for first file and it shows it is there>
    [root@antec etc]# find / -name kcm_keyboard*
    /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_keyboard.so
    /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_keyboard_layout.so
    /usr/share/kde4/services/kcm_keyboard.desktop
So is second file but see it is number 15 not number 12 as said in error message above>
    [root@antec etc]# find / -name libxklav*
    /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libxklavier.pc
    /usr/lib/libxklavier.so.15
    /usr/lib/libxklavier.so

    /var/cache/pacman/pkg/libxklavier-4.0-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
    [root@antec etc]#
I check in rc.conf and the es keyboard is selected.  I search in the archlinux wiki and in google and also here but do not find help.
EDIT>  now also found that Printer Config in Settings also shows similar error messages about orphan modules, old third party models etc.
    Can you help please....

BTW thanks for the tip about locate.  I used to use this ages ago but got out of the habit.  Not sure why.  Maybe the distro I had back then did not have it by default and I needed it quickly one day.  It could not be that I was too lazy to install it I am sure

  • Windows is forgetting shortcuts designated for keyboard layout switching after waking up from sleep

I have a configuration of Ctrl+1,2,3,4,5 shortcuts for switching keyboard layouts on Windows 8.1. Once I boot up my laptop they work just fine and the layouts shortcuts setup window looks like this if I open it:However now when I close my laptop, putting it into sleep mode, and then open it again, the keyboard shortcuts stop working and if I open the aforementioned setup window, it also looks as if I have none configured: To get my shortcuts back after sleep mode I have either to reboot the laptop, or assign the shortcuts again manually. This is a problem I've experienced before on this same machine (Lenovo Yoga 13) with Windows 8 (before the 8.1 update) and I guess at that time it dissapeared after some editing of the list of layouts I use.
But now I've added some layouts to the list, and then removed some of them and so on and here is what I get again.Maybe there is some branch of Windows Registry involved with the layouts and keyboard-shortcuts messed up and I could simply remove the registry branch and start with a clean slate?

I have never seen this Windows before, I unfortunately do not understand Russian.

After waking up the computer from suspension or using my KVM-switch, the keyboard layout is pretty messed up.

    "asdfghjklöä#" becomes "aoeuidrtnsḉ"
    "<yxcvbnm,.-" becomes "<-qjkxbmwvz"
I know the origin of the problem is that XKB is only set by my .xinitrc. But how can I bypass this? How can I set XKB with the German layout by default?
