  • How do i put the music from my iPhone on to my new laptops itune without syncing it and erasing all of my music and apps

I just bought a new laptop and i want to be able to add more music and put the music thats already on my iphones into my new itunes but its not allowing me to unless i sync it and then I will loose everything. What do I do?????

Transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link - along with your photos, documents, and any other important data you will need or want to access on your new computer.

  • Am syncing my iPhone 4 to a new laptop. It will not allow me to transfer music from this new laptop/iTunes to my phone. Why? And how do i fix this?

    Hi there,
    I have a new laptop.
I have music on my laptop that I have not purchased through iTunes (ie, uploaded CD's, copied to my laptop from my old computer, etc).
For some reason, iTunes will not allow me to transfer this music to my iPhone. I get the "red circle with the cross through it" symbol when I try to drop it into the iPhone..
Can someone suggest a way that I can oversome this and add my music to my phone from my new computer?
At this stage, I can only add music to it via the old iTunes/old computer that the phone was originally synced to.
    Cheers

  • HT1329 Hi! My old laptop (on which I had my itunes library) was stolen. I now have a new laptop, but when I plug in my ipod, it won't allow me to download/synch the songs on the ipod to the new laptop/itunes library. What is the solution to this?

Note: this is a Windows (not Mac), in case that makes any difference.  When it gives me the option to synch, it informs me that all my old songs currently on my ipod will be erased - which, since I only had them on my old laptop, i don't want to have happen.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Keith

iDevices are not and have never been designed as backup devices.  Use the backup of the computer to put everything back on the new laptop.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup of your media and other important files, you may be able to get iTunes purchases off the device by the following:
Connect the device but do not sync.
Right click on the device and select Transfer Purchase.
Right click on the device and select Backup.
The above should change the library association and move all iTunes purchases.  At this point you should be able to sync the device.  Non-iTunes purchases will be lost.

  • New Laptop - itunes will not work

I had itunes installed on my old laptop and it worked fine with my ipod touch ( 2.2.1). Now I have a new laptop, have installed itunes and every time i connect my ipod touch i get the message saying "itune has stopped working - windows is searching for a solution". The solution never comes. Do I have to uninstall itunes from the old laptop or deactivate that account or something in order to use my itunes account ( and all that is contained within it) on this new laptop? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

It all depends on exactly how you moved the library from your old computer.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • New laptop, itunes, ipad

i just bought a new laptop and when i try to sync it with my ipad, it wants to erase it because it says my ipad is linked to my old laptop itunes account. i don't want to erase it and lose my info.

You will have to use the iTunes Apple ID account to sync the iPad in order to not lose any content. If you use a different Apple ID, all content will be erased.
And you will need to authorize the computer.
Launch iTunes on the computer. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Authorize This Computer
    Then sync the iPad.

  • Getting apps onto new laptop itunes account

I have authorized my new laptop for my itunes account.
I have ticked all the boxes for Music, TV Shows, Books, Apps etc
I have an iCloud account that appears to be working.
So where are my apps and books that I purchased through itunes languishing?

    Hello there, MarionMac56.
To get your apps onto your MacBook Pro, the following Knowledge Base article should prove quite helpful:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Specifically the section "Apps, Books, Music, Movies or TV shows on a computer":
    Using iTunes 11 or later
Open iTunes on your computer. (You can download the latest version of iTunes here.)
Make sure that you have "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" enabled in your iTunes preferences by going to iTunes > Preferences under the Store tab. Then, click OK.
If you're not already signed in, choose Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
After you've signed in, click the Library button located in the upper-right of the iTunes Store.
Navigate to your iTunes library for the respective content type you wish to download using the content selector in the upper-left. Choose Music to download songs, Movies to download movies, and so on.
Locate the item or title you wish to download.
Click the download icon to download that item.
Note: The download icon for previously purchased movies is located to the right of the movie title. To download previously purchased apps and books, you'll need to navigate to the Purchased page under the Quick Links section in the iTunes Store. For more information, follow the steps outlined below for iTunes 10.7 or earlier.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities for answers to your question.
    Cheers,

  • When backing up my iPod Touch to my new laptop, iTunes wiped my iPod and all iCloud data associated with it.

I was backing up my iPod to my new laptop and it told me to download the new update (not iOS 7). I have a iPod Touch 4th gen. Half way through the update my internet connection died. By the time my connection was back I had to restore my iPod to factory settings because file were corrupted. I thought this was fine and I would just restore from iCloud having backed up several times, but my iPod was somehow no longer asscociated with my apple account and had changed it's 'digital name' with apple. Where has all my data gone, and can I get it back?

Place the iPod in DFU mode and then restore via iTunes

I have just bought a new laptop. I have itunes currently used on old PC. Do I need to download the up to date version of itunes on to laptop before I try to copy music library over to laptop or will itunes software automatically copy when I copy the library? I am not that knowledgeable IT wise but can manage slowly.

  • New laptop, iTunes won't sync music onto iPhone 4

I recently got a new laptop (acer) and I wanted to put my music from my phone onto it. I downloaded and installed iTunes, the only songs I had on it were what I brought from iTunes. So I transfered everything from my phone (iPhone 4) onto it. Problem #1. It only transfered the music I had brught from iTunes. No cds I had put onto iTunes transfered. So using a USB, I transferred all of the music I had on my iMac to my my laptop - I put it in the iTunes Media/Music folder of my documents. It didn't go into iTunes, until I dragged it directly from the folder and placed it in iTunes. That was that problem solved. I tried syncing my music and none it it would play. It was all grey writing and had a pink square next to the song name. Nothing worked, excpet for the songs I had brought directly from iTunes. Not even albums I had recently brought and put into my itunes would work.. That was problem #2. Thing is though, after I synced the music onto my, I got a notification on iTunes saying that there were 23 errors and some songs could not be found. These songs were the songs that I brought from iTunes, and could actually play from my phone.
I've tried updating both iTunes and my phone software, turning my phone on and off, deleteing and reinstalling iTunes. Everything I can thinnk of but nothing will work. I really just want to play my music from my phone... It'll play in iTunes, but just not from my phone.
    Please help!

this is happening to me as well. I have tried every single "fix" out there that I can find.
I have restored my phone from backups.
I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it on my comp
I have restore to factory settings and started from scratch
    literally nothing is working.

  • How do I transfer my data on my iphone to a brand new laptop/itunes.

    Hi all,
I seriously need some help from the iphone expert here, I got my iphone last week & this is my very first apple product, so I was kind of confuse.
May I know how do I transfer all my phone data to a laptop which have nv sync with the phone before one? I installed itunes in the laptop already but when I plug in my phone & sync, nothing was transfer from my phone to itunes or my laptop.
Is it becos if I previously used another PC to do the syncing/updates, I have to use that PC back in future? how do I transfer from the usual PC to my laptop to sync with my iphone?
A million thanks to whoever can help me with this.

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred to an iPhone via the iTunes sync process from a single computer.
When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
You can sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications on multiple computers.
You need to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer - transfer the iTunes named folder from your old computer to your new computer placing the iTunes named folder in the same location on your new computer with iTunes quit before doing so. You also need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
You also need to transfer all photos along with any other data on your old computer that you need or want to access on your new computer. You can do this with an external drive used for backup purposed, or if you have the computers networked in some fashion.

    Hello Wolfgang,
There is a free program that will copy everything you have in iTunes and is very easy to use. It's called CopyTrans TuneSwift. All you need is an external hard drive and that will save you all the trouble of making a million backup DVD's. Here's the link.
