New mail notification alarm

I'm having a small problem but it's driving me crazy. I for some reason suddenly started getting notified every time I get junk mail. I get at least 100 junk mails throughout my work day. Does anyone know what I'd have to do so I hear something ONLY when new (not junk) mail comes?
Thanks in advance,
Eric

HI,
Do you have Junk Mail 'Automatically' going to the Junk MailBox? If it does, it by-passes the New Mail (Sound) you have selected in Mail Preferences.
If your Junk Mail is coming into your Inbox (but with a selected color to tell it apart) the sound will chime.
In Mail Preferences > Junk Mail > in there, 'Enable Junk Mail filtering' and Check 'Move it to the Junk mailbox (Automatic)'... you can check all the following boxes to the bottom, they help sort it out.
And if anything comes in that is not Junk, but lands in the Junk Box, select 'Move to Inbox' and the Junk Filter will know better next time.
How are your settings???

  • No new mail notification in Outlook - CAS Exchange RPC Client Access problem

    Hi, we're facing this problem:
Users start complaining they suddenly don’t receive new mail notifications in Outlook (2010/2013)  anymore
Inbox does not show the new mail either
When the user changes folders in outlook, the new mail does show in the Inbox folder
Restarting Outlook shows the new mail as well.
The same new e-mail arrives instantly (with notifications) in Owa and on mobile devices
Sometimes the new mail notification pops up after a longer period of time (from 30 seconds to 10 minutes). But more often not at all.
This issue seems to occur at random. We’ve been problem free for a week, and sometimes it comes back three times a day.
Clients running Outlook 2010, 2013 cached or online, on site and off site. So it seems server related, not client.
It was seen first around January 8th. We did not make any changes around that time that we can link to this problem.
Only one CAS server (EXCH1-RTD) shows this issue. CAS servers on other sites are ok
EXCH1-RTD has CAS and HUB transport roles. The same site has two mailbox only servers. EXCH2-RTD (mailbox server for normal mailboxes). And EXCH3-RTD (mailbox server for archive mailboxes)
No entries in the event logs that seems to be related
As the problem only occurs with Outlook clients, I suspected RPC issues. We cannot gracefully stop the “Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access” service on EXCH1-RTD  while the issue occurs. We
can only kill the process and restart the service, solving the issue instantly.
    What we’ve tried until now:
Updated all Exchange servers from Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 to RU8-v2 (server OS=W2K8R2)
Updated all Exchange servers  to latest critical Windows updates
Recalculated requirements using MS Sizing tool.  Upgraded EXCH1-RTD  VM from 8GB and 2 vCPU (1 core/cpu) to 16GB
    and 4vCPU (1 core/cpu)
Ran various perfmon counters and compared them with other Exchange servers, not finding any obvious anomalies.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Ron

    Hi Ron,
From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the issue is related to add-ins. If the issue persists, you can create a new profile to check the result.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • How do I just get the Inbox messages to show in the new mail notification?

I've setup Thunderbird with Gmail and it works like a charm. The only gripe I have is that the new mail notification seems to grab a selection of unread emails from different folders and often it's not showing the relevant new emails in my inbox. Esp. the All Mail folder seems to cause doubling of message notifications but it's not the only one .
All I'm interested in is my inbox for new mail notifications. Is there anyway to modify the current behaviour?

That's not true. If you archive an email from your inbox without labelling it it will simply remove the inbox label and then the only way to get to it is through All Mail.
Note that All Mail is not only folder that has this issue. If you auto-label a message with 2 or more labels the exact same problem occurs.

  • New mail notification won't go away...

    Hi there!
    I'm using MacOS 10.7.4 and Mail 5.3 on a 13" MBP from 2012.
Lately I experience the problem, that the new mail notification (those little red numbers on the mail icon in the dock ) won't disappear after I read the mail.
When I quit mail completely and start it up again the notification is gone...
This behaviour is pretty new on my machine.
Can anybody help me with that?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I did restart the dock and will let you wether that solved the problem!
It'll take a day or two until I'm sure the notification will be gone for sure after I read an email because the problem didn't appear on a regular basis.

  • New mail notification counter not appearing in dock

I've noticed recently that my new mail notification counter doesn't appear in the dock if I have Mail sitting in the background. I can be working in, say, Word, and not know I have new mail. Yet, when I go to Mail there are emails sitting there (and the dock counter appears as soon as I go to Mail.
Not a major problem, I agree, but it would be nice to fix it, if anyone has any suggestions.
    Cheers
    Phil

Thanks for the replies. I do have preferences set as you suggest but am not getting the notifications when Mail is in the background. I'll just live with it...
    Cheers

  • Outlook 2013 new mail notification sounds can't be changed

I've got a weird issue with Outlook 2013 on Windows 8..  I've read several other posts that are kind of similar but they don't really apply.
So, Outlook 2013 uses the "Desktop Mail Notification" sound event..  unless I change the .wav file assigned to that event.  Then it instead uses the "New Mail Notification" event.  Then when I change the .wav file assigned
to THAT one, it changes again to instead use the "Notification" event.  Then when I change the .wav file assigned to "Notification," Outlook just won't play anything at all when receiving new mail.  It just flat refuses to use
anything but the default .wav files.
Has anyone run into this before?

    Hi,
To change the new mail notification sound, please try the following:
    1. Right click the sound icon at the right bottom to open the sound settings.
    2. Under the
Windows section, change both the Desktop Mail Notification and New Mail Notification
events to have the same .wav file for the sound you want played for them.
    3. Then click OK to test the result.
    Thanks,

  • Losing New Mail Notification after send/receive

    Hello,
I have a Treo 800w with WM6.1.  Experienced same problem also with HTC Mogul on WM6.0.
My yahoo email and work exchange email are setup via IMAP.  The new mail notification works when a new message is received.  However, upon the next send/receive, even if the message has not been viewed, the new mail icon and notification goes away.  As a result, I cannot utilize any reminder feature, even third party that will work past the duration of my send/receive interval.  Does any fix exist for this?
    Thanks for your help
Post relates to: Treo 800w (Sprint)

Mail only shows a flag in the Dock for new mail when it arrives in the Inbox; you can't get around this. But you can add this functionality to ALL mailboxes if you download and install this item:
    http://www.macupdate.com/download.php/13292/MailEnhancer-10_3.dmg
Be sure to follow the directions and it should work without a problem.

  • Rule containing "Mark as Read" and "Move to Folder" does not remove New Mail Notification

I asked this question in another forum here (sorry for not linking, but the forum would not let me because my account is not yet verified):
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-outlook/rule-containing-mark-as-read-and-move-to-folder/061a8009-dd98-4304-81b0-6c4c8a5a6205
They passed the buck to this forum.  Can anyone help?  Here is my original post:
I have set up a rule so that emails from a certain sender should be marked as 'read' and routed to a certain folder.  The rule works just fine except for the fact that it does not remove the new mail notification from the taskbar icon
or the system tray.  The rule reads as follows:
Apply this rule after the message arrives
with New Home Sale in the subject
move it to the _New Home Sales folder
      and mark it read
Once I open the _New Home Sales folder, all messages are marked as read, as they should be.  When I open any of the emails in this folder, the notification goes away.  It does not even have to be the most recent email or the same folder
    - opening any email from any folder clears the notification, even if the same email was used to clear it before.  Previewing does not remove the notification.
I have a similar rule set up for another folder:
Apply this rule after the message arrives
with New Home Final Sale in the subject
move it to the _New Home Final Sales folder
      and mark it as read
The same thing happens here with the unread notification.
This is very annoying, as I want to receive these emails but I do not need to know every time one comes in.
Does anyone have any advice on this?  I have read a few threads about an unread email bug, but I'm hoping I'm just missing a setting somewhere. I find it hard to believe such a bug would persist this long.

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to verify the Exchange version and Outlook version at first. Since I have a test in my environment using Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010. I create a same inbox rule, it works and there is no new mail notification from
    the taskbar.
What's more, I recommend you use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the problem is caused by add-ins.
If the issue persists, please install the Outlook latest Service Packs and check the result.
    Hope it helps.

  • No new mail notification

I have an iMac with Lion 10.7.3, a u-verse email account, (****@att.net), and Mail V 5.2.  Since I got the computer which was about 2 months ago, I haven't been able to get a "new" mail notification on new emails.  It has notified me but very few times.  Why is that????  I thought it had to do with me having my email also setup on my bb phone but I didn't have that problem when I was using Tiger on my old Powerbook computer.  I don't open or even check my email on my phone and still I don't get the "new mail" notification.  Is Mail broken?

Ok, lets get down to work and solve this **** problem. Start with these:
    Reset your computer's PRAM
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh26871.html
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
If we still have this problem after safe-boot... we can rebuild the mailboxes, and also pull the envelope files.

  • Outlook 2010/multiple exchange accounts/new mail notification on one only

Hi, is there a way to have multiple exchange accounts in Outlook 2010 but just have new mail notifications on the first only?
I tried having the first exchange account open an additional user, but running into memory errors as a result. Found the solution to that by adding them as separate accounts, but this creates noise with mail notifications, reminders, etc-
    Thanks in advance - Joe

    Hi,
You can configure multiple Exchange accounts in Outlook 2010. For details on how to configure, you can refer to this article:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/outlook/archive/2009/08/25/multiple-exchange-accounts-in-outlook-2010.aspx
Also, only the default mail store will get the new mail icon. You can use rules to pop up a desktop notification for the other accounts but the icon will only appear
    for the default account.

  • Sub-Folder New-Mail Notification

Hello All and Thanks In Advance for Any Help!
I have an Exchange Email account organized into several sub-folders.
    ([email protected]; folder1; folder2; folder3)
Using rules I organize my emails into these sub-folders upon receipt.  I only get "New-Mail" notifications on emails that remain in the main inbox "[email protected]".
How do I get "New-Email" notifications for the folders?
    Thanks!!
    C

"Notification" may be describing what I need incorrectly.
I can see new mails as a notification. What I want is my Mail icon to show me I have a new mail, and how many with the little red circle with a white number.
    Thanks

  • How to configure new mail notification?

    Hi,
I want to set up SAP so that when a user receives a new mail in his/her SAP-mail inbox the system sends a notification to that user's email-adress (smtp-address) so that the notification will appear in Outlook. How can I do this?

  • I clicked on a new mail notification and lost my work on the email I was writing.

I'm submitting this already solved because I just about freaked out and may have lost my work for real:
On my iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.2 I opened the Mail app and browsed to the Drafts folder on my Gmail account. I opened a draft and had written a page or two when I received a mail notification banner. I clicked it and was taken to the incoming mail message. Realizing I hadn't "saved" my draft in any way, I quickly went back to the Drafts folder and opened it up. To my dismay, the draft was as if I had not written those two pages! By God's grace I chose to press "Cancel". I pulled down on the list of drafts to refresh with the server, and opened it again. Voila! All my work was back.
Apparently when I clicked the notification, iOS saved my draft to the Gmail server, but when I went back to my Drafts folder, it opened a cached copy.  I'm guessing that if I'd edited the cached copy and saved it, the one on the server would have been overwritten.
    I hope this helps somebody.
    God bless.

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222

    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
