New Nano with I-tunes

Probably a stupid question but i've just ordered a new 4Gb Nano to replace my Mini, is it as straightforward as just pluggling it in to sync with I-tunes?

hiya!
pretty much, although you need to have at least itunes 4.9 to run your nano properly. see:
iPod: System Requirements
this document might also be of some help:

(although not specifically focussed on replacements, it describes a situation where you connect a new ipod to a PC that has already been set up for an ipod.)

  • Can i charge my new nano with old adapter

can i charge the new nano with a old ipod nano power adapter?

thank you, is it possible to use any usb outlet charger for the nano not just made by apple, from what i heard some works but some people's ipod got fried idk
It's hard to tell for certain, but if you are going to use a third party USB AC Charger, I would check for different reviews online for whether or not they are compatible with your iPod. Just double check for input and output voltages it works with and compare it to those that your iPod Nano can handle.

  • My computer was stolen and I cannot transfer my music from my Iphone to a new PC with I-tunes.

I had all my music in my I-tunes library of a computer that was stolen. I bought a new PC and installed I-tunes. Even if I log in with my apple store account this new I-tunes does not accept a transfer between my iphone and my pc. And I cannot add new music to my i-phone from this new computer using I-tunes. I can do it using another software, but since we users of Iphone are stuck with Itunes, I want this new Itunes to recognize my iphone music library and let me use it.
Is there any way to do this?
    Thanks.

When syncing your iPhone to the new computer, it will want to erase and sync. This is because an iPhone can only be synced to one computer at a time. You can attempt to transfer purchases from the iPhone to your computer, but keep in mind that this will only transfer the music that was purchased from iTunes. Any other music that you have on your device will be lost during the syncing process. If you wish to transfer that music from the iPhone to the new computer as well, you will have to browse Google for some third party software that has been designed to do this. iTunes does not offer this ability, as this is to prevent digital piracy.
    Hope this helps.

  • New Nano with existing itunes account

I lost my Nano and just bought a new one. Is there anything special I need to do to make sure my ipod syncs with existing itunes? Can I just plug the usb connector into my desktop and it will download all my music on itunes onto my new Nano? Any help is appreciated.

    Yes, just plug it in.
It will go thru the registration and then sync everything.

  • Can you use new Nano with iTunes 6?

I'd like to get the new iPod Nano, but I have Mac OS 10.2.8, so I can't get iTunes 7. It says on the system requirements that I need 7, but is it really necessary? (i.e. is it possible to use the new iPod Nano with iTunes 6?)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
While I haven't tried, I would image the answer is no.
Usually when iPods are released with a new iTunes version, they aren't made to be/are made not to be compatible with previous iTunes versions.
It may work, but I can't be sure either way (someone else may have tested this).
In the past, even if iTunes updated the iPod, there tended to be problems syncing.

  • Trying to use new nano with old mac

Hi, I was wondering if someone could give me some advice.
I recently received an ipod nano as a gift. Unfortunately, my ibook is from 2001, and i am still running the original OS 10.
From what I have read in these discussion forums, it would probably not be wise for me to try to install OS 10.4 on my computer. However, I believe that OS 10.4 is needed for my computer to be compatible to my nano.
I have hundreds of songs on my ibook, which I would really like to transfer to my new ipod. What can I do?
    thanx
    ibook Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Apple's minimum specs for the Nano are 10.3.x basically because that was the first version of the MacOS to support USB 2. However, many people, including my wife, are using a Nano with computers that have USB 1. So the real limiting factor is what version of the OS your computer can comfortably run. I wouldn't recommend 10.4 but 10.3 is certainly doable. I know several people running around with the colored iBooks running 10.3. And certainly 10.2 is doable though I don't know if iTunes 6 will run on Jaguar.

  • Dock station compatible with new nano with multi-touch

Does anybody knows if JBL OnStage IIIP Speakers are compatible with the new iPod nano with multi-touch?
    Thanks.

I don't think you understand the problem then. When pressing 'menu/back' on the remote it goes back to the Album list, but there's nothing 'highlighted' and hence no way to switch between different Albums.
I'm guessing it's because it doesn't make sense to have navigation highlighting on a touch only device.
It does, however, work on the iPhone 3gs (and all other ipods I've tried), which is why I'm hoping for an update from apple that would fix this. I don't see why they'd purposely make previous ipod docks incompatible with the new nano... then again, it's Apple.
There's a bunch of software issues with the new nano, so I guess they'll have their hands full with more important problems for the time being.
I don't see how JBL could fix this.

  • I'm trying to sync my new iPhone with I tunes on my Mac and it keeps telling me my iPhone  or device is timed out???..Tried my old iPhone and it synched fine ???  Any help would be appreciated.

Is your Mac running the current iTunes version?
If so, any change after restarting your Mac?

  • New nano - old i-tunes

Just connected new nano. Says I need itunes 7.4.2. Went to download. Site unavailable. Can't disconnect. Hostage situation. Any idea when site will be available?

The site appears available to me from the link below. Have you tried since your post?

  • Cant sync my new Nano with my computer?  Oh why oh why?  Any way around it?

I just got a new I Pod Nano and it says I need Itunes 10.7.  NOW I find out that my MAC won't support I Tunes 10.7.  I don't have time for this.  Any way around this?  I got the IPOD with American Express Miles so I can't return it.

Not really.  Do you have a PowerPC Mac?  Every Intel-based Mac can go to at least Mac OS X 10.6.8, which can run the latest iTunes.

  • New nano with 1. gen. armband...does it fit???

I really need help on this one. Does the new 2. generation nano fit the old armbands that came in many colors? Has anyone tried it out for real?
Can't find any information about it.
    Thanks

Tiger 10.4.x comes free with a new Mac, you then upgrade to 10.4.4 via software update.
If your third party software hasn't updated for Tiger yet, it's not worth having.
There's not much difference between Panther and Tiger as far as third party software, some Panther versions will run fine on Tiger.
I doubt you can run Panther on a Quad though, it's a new machine and the Tiger install disks are specially tailored for specific hardware now. (mostly)
So there might not be any Quad based Pather install disks.
Optical out on the PowerMac's is awesome, nice and clear, clean sound.

  • New PC with TV tuner

I have FIOS internet and TV and am looking to purchase a new PC. Is there any reason to get a TV tuner built into the PC? I cant use the FIOS signal right?
I have no antenna and my only TV signal is Verizon FIOS so would it be worth the expense to get a tuner with the PC? Does anybody use this kind of setup?

Several points. First of all, the few unencrypted TV signals on FiOS are QAM, not ATSC format, so you would need to make sure that the tuner supports QAM. If you want to receive all of the FiOS channels you have available in your package, the tuner would need a cable card. As far as I know, none of the available built-in tuners supports a cable card, there are only a handful of Tuner cards (plug into a slot inside the PC) for PC that do support the Cable Card.
So unless the tuner can handle QAM, it is a complete waste. Even if it can handle QAM, all you can get are the local stations, because everything else is encrypted. At best you won't get much programming from a built in TV tuner, and absent QAM support, you won't get anything.
My advice: It isn't worth paying extra for built-in TV tuner. There just ins't much you can do with it.
