New OSX 10.7 disadvantages 'paying' MobileMe members. Warning: with the use of Lion, MobileMe synchronization is no longer reliable!
Today I received the following message from MobileMe advisor Caryn in a support chat:
"MobileMe is actually not compatible with Lion yet which could be why you are having some issues. Since MobileMe is going away, it actually has not been designed for use with Lion. iCloud is designed for Lion. Now its not saying that it wont work but this is the reason you are having issues."
Can you imagine I was flabbergasted?! Because if these "issues" mean that synchronizing iCal and Address book under Lion is not reliable anymore, as it has proven to be extremely unreliable in my case for the last weeks, I think Apple is letting the paying MobileMe customer down the hard way. This is something you would never expect Apple to do: introducing a new OSX ignoring severe damage they cause to thousands of ‘paying’ MobileMe members.
I had been discussing this matter with MobileMe support several times, but today was the first time I received a honest answer. I run a business using Apple equipment and MobileMe services. Many hours and valuable data were lost. Unacceptable!!!
Problem description:
In my case iCal 5.0 running at OSX 10.7 on several iMac's did not synchronize correct or not at all. New events are flagged with a small round ‘offline shaped’ icon and do not synchronize with MobileMe. Once the icon is present in one of the events, new added events are also flagged and do not synchronize. Appointments were lost between machines this way!
As soon as the icons in the events appear, also a warning icon is shown at the top of the (pop up) calendar list. Clicking this warning sign icon the following error is reported (translated from Dutch): “The server responded with an error. iCal cannot establish the connection with cal.me.com. Take care that you are linked with the Internet and try it later again.”
I have ran several tests with the assistance of chat support, including deleting and re-installing my iCal account several times and I even re-installed OSX Lion on one of the iMac's. Nothing helped. Switching the machines back to OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard solved all problems. Getting frustrated about losing a lot of valuable time!
So now I’m warning other Apple users in national and international social media discussion groups and Apple forum discussion portals. Skip the use of OSX Lion as long as you are a MobileMe member! If already purchased: ask for a refund!
@Chris: my machines: MacPro Original 2,66/11GB, macMini 3,1 2,0/4GB and a MBAir 2,1 1,86/2GB all running Lion since day 2.

And finally, the official status information on MobileMe says: everything fine.
So I doubt, that the statement from "Apple MobileMe support" (whoever that was) is something to be taken as the truth. These people surely are no OSX experts and I guess they know about Lion as much as we do. Since you never look into there eyes while communicating, you never know ....? And hiding behind a Lion is not very brave ;-)
Only to be sure: Do you have "Push" selected in all your iCal MobileMe account preferences?

There is no Info tab in Mavericks

My laptop died so I've installed itunes onto another PC and my music is all on an external hardive which is connected to the new PC. How can I sync my ipod with the new itunes and get all the music onto itunes?
You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. I am trying to install xcode on a macpro running OSX 10.6.8 . It installs, but with the error that there is no unix support. Do I have to upgrade to Lion 10.7 to do this? And if so, is this a free upgrade if I have the extended 3 yr support?

PandabigXcode 4.x cannot be installed on Snow Leopard. You need a 3.x. So if that is what you used then yes, you need to install lion. If connect.apple.com still alows registration or logins using an existing appleid then you could download the last xcode 3.2.6 for free.

i have an ipod touch and just updated my software to ios 7.1.2. Now I get the message that my adapter, accessory does not support my device. Is there a new adapter that I need to buy that works with the ios 7.1.2?
This is not my problem. However, I think it may be related to an old speaker. I was using the 30 pin adapter for about a week after the upgrade to 7.1.2. But I think with the update the speaker won't work anymore. I will try with a new speaker system. Thank you for trying to assist.

I am having problems when i have minimized windows and try to open a new window it will open all minimized windows along with the new window. It just changed when mozzilla updated. It did not do this before the update. Before the update if i had minimized windows they would stay minimized when i opened a new window. Sure! If the two Macs have Thunderbolt ports, attach a Thunderbolt cable between them. If they have FireWire, or if one has FireWire and one Thunderbolt, connect a FireWire cable (with a TB adaptor if necessary). Reboot the old Mac holding down the T key. Make sure it's connected to power. You'll now see its system drive appear on the desktop of the other Mac and you can use Migration Assistant to automatically transfer files, or drag them over manually.

Disclaimer: This response assumes that a "new mac pro tower" is the new cylindrical model.
1. You cannot download Final Cut Pro 7. FCP7 is part of Final Cut Studio (2009) a.k.a "FCS3" and it was only released on a DVD set. It can still be purchased online (maybe even from Apple) for prices ranging from a few hundred to $1K and it is 5 years old and unsupported.
2. Although there are reports of systems running FCS3 on Mavericks, there are also a host of problems associated with this OS/software combination.
3. A new version of iMovie Pro Final Cut Pro X has been released which is reportedly very fast and is supported.

where do I get the new serial number? Instructions say it was provided with the download for CS2. I don't see it anywhere.

I'm new to this so please forgive me if I'm not using the correct terms. My ITunes version is 11.1.3.8. For years I had an IPod Classic and it worked perfectly with all my music where I wanted it. Unfortunately, it was recently stolen. I bought a used/wiped clean 64GB IPod Touch 4 loaded with iOS 6.1.5. I've tried to load my music twice and both times I'm getting the same odd results While everything is properly associated in ITunes once I load and sync the IPod Touch there are several albums that are not associated with the Artist. I'll explain further. I prefer to sort my ITunes library and IPod by Artist. So when I pull up some (not all) Artists on my IPod Touch some Albums that should be there are missing. I say they are missing, they are there. The total song count on ITunes matches that on the IPod Touch and if I sort by Album name, I can find the album that does not appear when I sort by Artist. The reason I want to fix this issue is I appreciate a wide variety of music and I can envision me looking for an artist and not finding them and not being able to remember the name of the album. The Rolling Stones are easy and I know how many albums they have an how many I have. Smaller groups that may have only one album are more problematic. Unless I randomly come accross the song I might never be able to find it or listen to it. I know lots of people have more music than I do so I'm not bragging, but my library has 414 different artists spread across 1402 albums and I can't always remember what I own. Speaking of owning, I own the physical CDs for the vast majority of my music so I don't think it's a situation of previously ripped music not showing up or not being formatted correctly. Any help would be appreciated.
