New to the Apple 'Newton' Messagepad 2100/2000 Can Some One Help?
So I've just recently discovered the world of the Apple Messagepad. I've been searching for a while now for a pda that best suites my interests and needs. When I came across this old ad for the Messagepad I totally got excited as I love Apple products and seriously loved the look and features that the device boasted. So - now I've put some bids on a couple of 2100 models on ebay and am waiting, I've also found some resellers, I'm definitely going to get a hold of one of these devices. I've done some research on the devices and am concerned mostly with the just how difficult it will be to install software and/or upgrades onto the device from my G5 Powermac. Is there anyone out there with advice and/or suggestions for this Newton Newbie? Any info you can offer me about anything having to do with Messagepads would be surely helpful.

In addition to the links already posted you will really need to look carefully at www.unna.org - specifically the wikiwikinewt which is a goldmine of information. Also after reading that if you have any questions you can post them on www.newtontalk.net.
To get going on the install of software you have to overcome the "bootstrapping" problem (see wikiwikinewt). If you don't have access to someone with a Newt (you can then use iRDA) or can't get hold of a PCMCIA card from another Newt owner, then you will need a serial cable setup + a serial/USB adapter + a dongle for the Newt. The dongle adapts the Newt connector to the old Mac serial cable and the adapter makes it possible to connect to the latest Macs (this is what I use) (Keypsan produce a good adapter).

i have apps to be updated but when i try to update them a message pops out saying "You have updates for other accounts, please sigh in with the other id". Can some one help me how can i still update the same with the new apple id ive created. As i dont have the access to the earlier id anymore.
You cannot. The apps are assigned to that Apple ID and there is nothing you can do to change that. You could choose to download them again with the new Apple ID, any paid apps will need to be purchased again.

Since an iPhone 3G cannot be updated past iOS 4.2.1...the end of the line for that model iPhone...you can't do what you want, so there's nothing to be fearful of.

Yes the idea is to backup the laptop - I thought I would just move it all now, new - and then keep saving/dragging physically across to the new drive myself each day or two...
Would this be the sizeof the internal hard drive = c.500 gb ? = under the HD icon on desktop is written :
" 499.76gb , 311.5 gb free "
I can erase and start agin on the new external drive - so this plan is to make two partititions, rather than the one at present, and make one of them 500 gb ?
I have found CCC [carbon copy cloner] googling - looks good.
When CCC site says it backs up the hard drive - would this mean all my files [over 100 gb] that are mostly in folders on the desktop, plus the others in itunes, iphotos etc found in the HD icon, would all copy across successfully [wherever they are in the computer ] ?

I purchased I phone 5 from USA covered under Apple care . I'm in India now. Wake/sleep button not working. Apple care here have refused to replace or repair it though it is still under international warranty. Feeling harassed. Can some one help.
Is there an "APPLE STORE" in India or you just went in a reseller store?
There is a replacement program for sleep/wake button for free. Just look for an Apple Store and make a reservation at Genius Bar.
I have an iPhone 5, bought in Dubai U.A.E.
It is a US model (model A1428) which is different of the model use here in Italy/Europe
My serial number is qualified for battery replacement program.
I thought the Apple Store wouldn't repair my phone because I bought it from another country , a different model and it is already out of warranty.
The Apple store's staff just checked if my iPhone's serial number is eligible for the program and he replaced the battery for free today. -

If the movie has completely downloaded, I recommend deleting the movie and downloading it again from your list of purchased movies. See this article for the steps:

If you don't have your install disks you can get the 10.4 gray disks by calling AppleCare. 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273) They can send them to you for about $16 per disk plus S & H. Just give them your serial number and they'll know which ones you need.
Or if you don't have any files you want to recover from your hard drive you can get Snow Leopard for $29 if you have at least 1gb of RAM and a working DVD drive. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY You would then erase and reformat your hard drive and install Snow Leopard. You won't need the box set unless you want the latest iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps you can get them from the App Store in 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote and Numbers for $20 each. -

I cant open some applications like preview or text edit after installing mavericks, i found a post that said im missing the Base.lproj files, this fixed my calendar application but i need the file for preview, can some one help?

If it seems like system files are missing and applications are quitting unexpectedly, I'd suggest reinstalling Mavericks:

When I connect my Macbook Pro to my Dell DLP projector, either via cable or wirelessly, I just see a dark screen with the mouse and mouse trails only, can any one help?
jpmarkques post is a good start point, after folling his directions, you can try detect displays. Also try different rsolution and refresh rates.
Most of the projectors I have used support a 1024X768 res.
Youcan also try a pram reset if it still does not detect.
Leave theproctor connected and powered up, power down the MBP.
Power back up the MBP and hold the following keys before you hear the start up chime:
Option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start up chime 2 times. -
Since itunes and apple tvs latest update I have had problem wtching movies on apple tv via my itunes can any one help, movie takes a very long time to load sometimes never, it use to work really well, whats going on please help?

In the attempt of updating my ipod touch, i am faced with the problem of not being able to be connected to the itunes in my computer (windows xp ) because my ipod touch got blocked up, leaving the icon of USB cable and itunes on my touch screen. I am asked to restore my ipod first, but i have tried using all the examples stated and still can't help. Please please, can some one help me out ? See if placing the iPod in Recovery mode will allow a restore via iTunes
