New WiFi behavior in OS 10.5.4

Over the last couple of weeks or so (I guess since installing the latest system update), my MacBook Pro no longer automatically connects to the last WiFi network used when it wakes from sleep - I have to select the network manually each time. Has anyone else experienced this nuisance? Is there a known workaround?

I just want to chime in here to say that I'm working on TWO networks (in two locations) that are entirely Apple Airport based (no Linksys, etc.) and this same thing is happening consistently since the 10.5.4 upgrade.
The primary symptoms seem to be that the machines (and I have multiple machines - all Leopard 10.5.4 MBPs) can't find the Airport network upon waking from sleep. Sometimes, they find the network but are challenged repeatedly for the password...and we enter the correct password to no avail. Then, once the machines are rebooted, all comes back as normal. Until it happens again (upon waking from sleep).
Also, there seems to be a possibly related problem that's visible in Mail...Mail seems to go offline (you get the little warning triangle with the ! in it next to the Inbox) repeatedly throughout the day. The airport status indicator in the menubar (OS) looks fine...all of the possible bars showing...but Mail goes offline until you ask it to "Get Mail"; and then the triangle goes away and Mail goes right out and checks mail (seemingly without a problem). But the next time you look at the Message Viewer, there it is again. This just goes on all day.
In short, I don't know if this is a connectivity problem (machines losing their connections with the network) or perhaps something else (keychain problems?)...but ALL of these have started with the 10.5.4 upgrade and it's happening on multiple machines on multiple networks.

Start with the most basic thing that you can try. Unplug the router from power for about 30 seconds, and restart the printer and the iPad and plug the router back into power.

When I move to a new wifi my sound disappears

Every time I go to a new wifi login, even if it's my own at home, when I get on to Skype, my sound does not work and I have to reboot. An example is that I go to my aunt's house, whose wifi my mac recognises, I try to use Skype and get no sound so I have to restart the laptop to get it working, which is not ideal when I am already on a call. Then, when I go home again, the same thing happens. When I look in Settings for Sound it all looks like it's working fine. Any help appreciated.

If you are using Skype Wifi, try turning it off.

New home and new WIFI sluggishness

I recently moved in with my girlfriend. At my last location, I quit using wifi, was connected directly via ethernet to my cable internet modem. I was also Airport sharing the connection for my kids' iMac.
Now in her new place (and new wifi), I can connect with full bars via Airport, but many sites do not load the first time. I need to refresh the browser several times to get many sites to load.
I have turned off the internet connection sharing as well. Is it some type of DNS problem?
clueless... assuming it has something to do with the move.

There is no real procedure for you as a customer. You can place an order for broadband and phoneline simultaneously. BT will take care of the rest.
If there a line in the new place then it might need an engineer call out in order to get it up and going but this will be made clear whenever your order is placed.

EPrint does not work after new wifi router on Verizon DSL

I have been using ePrint on my iPod, iPad, and iPhone for a few months without a problem, but recently had to switch to a new wifi router on my Verizon DSL, as my wifi kept turning off and Verizon's solution was an updated wifi router. Since the switch, I cannot ePrint from my mobile devices. I can, after reconfiguration, print from my laptops. The ePrint app still finds the Deskjet 3050a, says "sending to printer", but will not print. The ePrint is turned on. I tried to delete the app and reinstall in hopes that I can start fresh, but it still does not work. I tried to add a new printer, with the email supplied on the ePrint screen on the printer, but nothing.
Any ideas?

Is your printer connected to the new router as it sounds like it is still looking for the old one ? Maybe just disconnect it and reconnect it again to your new router and then the ePrint APP should pick it up.

Although I am a HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Came home yesterday to find my time capsule has an orange light blinking and my wifi network is no longer working. Not sure how/why this happened and can't get it working. Do i just reset it and will this lose my backups? Or can I create a new wifi n/w?

Its an 802.11n (4th Gen) model
I looked at the diagnostics screen (next to the blinking orange icon on the Airport Utility and it says there are four issues:
the software (currently V 7.6.1) has an update available. If I click update I get the error message "There was an error connecting to the update server. Check your network settings and try again". However, nothing's been changed settings-wise
The other 3 status issues are:
Internet Connection - but the router is working fine and I can connect to the router via wifi on my MacBook Pro
No DNS Servers - I have no idea what this means
Ethernet Unplugged - it's not and I also replaced the ethernet cable which has no effect
Do I just cut my losses and hit the reset button - if so will I need to back everything up again (i.e. I will no longer be able to access my backups) or do I just set up a new wifi network - again, will this impact on my backups?
Any help/advice would be appreciated - thanks

Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

I don't want to download an app. I would rather add a new string in about config or just change of the ones in there to false. It's making my work life rather difficult, to be forced to go all the way back to the end of my list after moving one tab just to have to do it again. I mean it's to the point where I might consider changing browsers if they had tab scroll bars.
Edit: At this point I will download any app. Please make this stupid feature stop.

The result of setting up that code will do exactly as you described: the tabs will be crowded together. I had not noticed any change in behaviour of Firefox with tabs because all the tabs are crowded together, so they cannot scroll, and I very seldom move tabs.

Can't log in with my Apple id password, so can't set new wifi up

Hi, first time on my iPad since new wifi set up, and I now can not get into my iPad to set up the New WiFi keycode, I keep constantly getting the "sign into icloud, enter Apple id password", and I can't get to any settings annoyingly.
Now I had not changed my Id password prior to this problem, yet I have since changed it through another device, yet without WiFi on my iPad this will not update.
I have shut down and restarted, to see if this helps but it didn't, can anyone help with this annoying little problem so I can set up the New WiFi?

Thank you...I did try that and it did not work. I've tried just about everything. Today I tried hooking up to a different TV that does not have a receiver and it works fine. I guess it has something to do with my receiver but I just can't figure it out.

i have a printer all in one and its abiut 3 years old ! we desperately need to print off some documents but are rrally struggleing. we have not used the printer for a long time and since the last use we have got a new wifi hub and new computers all of which are windows 8! i have 2 questions firstly the most important being - can you setup a hp all in one printer onto a windows 8 laptop? and secondly how do we connect our printer to a new wifi hub?

Are there any previous networks that you have used that have the same password as Molly? YES
Using System Preferences > Network > AirPort Advanced again, you need to remove any listings of previous networks that used the same password as Molly. Click the name of the network and click the - (minus) button at the bottom of the list of connections.
Also delete any other networks (except Molly at the top of the list) that might have used the same name...Molly in the past.
Delete any other networks that you no longer need so that your Mac will search for networks more quickly
Click OK, then click Apply
Open KeyChain Access and look for a listing of any old networks that you no longer need. Click to highlight the name of the network, then click the Delete Key on your computer.
Then look for any old networks that might have used the name Molly in the past and do the same for them.
Then look for any old networks that might have used the same password as the password for your "new" Molly network and delete them in the same way
Click the KeyChain Access menu just next to the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the computer screen
and then click KeyChain First Aid
Enter the main administrator password for the Mac you are using and highlight the Repair button. Then click Start. You will see a message that repairs have been completed

Consider yourself lucky that your MacBook is still working. Now, turn it off. Wine may have damaged other parts of your computer.
Then, take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller. It will be a very expensive repair, as it's not covered by warranty and the logic board has to be replaced. In some cases, it may be better to get a new MacBook.

Most pages not loading when on new wifi connection

I have recently connected to a new wifi network and while some pages will load, most of them will not. So, for example, I can get on to the NYtimes website but not onto the Washington Post website. And for the Facebook website, I can get onto the main page but once I try to login it won't work. However, for yahoo I can get on the site and login and view emails etc., Also, some site will appear correctly and others do not (missing some part of the websites graphics).
I have tried both Firefox and Safari and the issue is hapenning to both. I have also called the company who sold us the wifi/router/internet package and they say the problem is on my end. The router/machine also has an ethernet jack and my internet works perfectly fine when I connect via ethernet.

I haven't seen this for a while and thought it was fixed but it sounds like he old DNS issue - try using open DNS - Our nameservers are 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 - as a test (set in the network preferences) - if it works and you like it I recommend logging into your router and making the open DNS servers the DNS for the network
