Hi guys hope I am in teh correct place!!!!
I have (I think) a small problem......
I am a PHP developer (that is NOT my problem!!) and have been given a little project to complete.
I have a jar file which I have been able to extract the classes from and decompile them enabling me to view teh source code. I have found the areas of code I needed to alter and have doen so.
NOW when it comes to re-building teh jar file.......
I have got studio enterprise 8 and have been trying to build the app abd getting the following errors....

Any help would be VERY much appreciated.
PS I think the original code was written some time ago so there may be some backwards compatability issues here - please could you want me as such!!!!!

public ProchartscanApplet thisThe line above is not a valid signature for a method - at least I think that is what it is supposed to be. Perhaps you are declaring a class. It's hard to say without seeing the code. If you post code, be sure to use the code tags.

Newbie help me obi wans: ...coded locked by template or translator
Hi Folks,
I'm such a newbie to DW I've been using it for a few years actually, but in a very basic sense.
I dloaded a template, added some graphics, made some buttons etc.. and of course text, but when it comes to coding,
I've only figure out how to add spaces lol
I'm trying to add a flash video to my samples page. I can add images, but every time I add the .flv, I receive the subject message.
So here are 2 issues:
1. I don't know if this related to #2, but I can't erase the 3rd column...or even use it. it's locked - I see a circle with a line through it. The template I bought did say it was 3 columns, but I don't understand why I can't touch it. I've attached a tiff of what it looks like right now.
2. as the subject says "changing code is locked by the template is locked a template or translator" is giving me grief.
I've reviewed the previous posts on the subject, but I'm afraid my newbie-ness has left me not knowing what to do. ie. I can't find a time/date to change...I see the <head> and <script>, but they're greyed out on the one page I'm trying to edit. They're not greyed out on the template page however.
I also tried saving my .dwt as a new template, but that didn't work either.

Java newbie help (type casting, 64bit unsigned Long)
Hi I am java newbie and need help on my project. I have a few questions. Can you put strings in a hashtable and test for their being their with the appropriate hashtable method? I want to test for equal strings, not the same object. Second question can you use all 64 bits of an unsigned long? java doesn't seem to allow this. Any packages that do?

DaveTry casting it to Long instead of long. Long (capital L) is an Object, while long (lower case l) is not. You may also check to make sure the value isn't null. I would have thought that autoboxing would have worked here unless the value was null. But I am no expert on autoboxing.

I just set up my first query page using two tables (categories and properties) and I set up a simplistic page here just to see if the data loads:

It does, but it loads all the entries of the properties table. I just want it to display one of the three categories (One Bedroom, Two Bedroom, Three Bedroom) and I thought just adding ?id=1 would do something like that but it didn't change anything. I set up a query with a join using ADDT connecting the category row from the properties table to the id row of the categories table. So why am I getting all the data instead of just one of the rows from the categories table? Can anyone help an ADDT/PHP newbie?Oops, sorry,

yes, the "detail2properties" query should have rather become somewhat enhanced to filter against a certain URL variable, but this requirement probably wasn´t clear at the time you implemented the Nested Repeat Region wizard.
The demo you were using apparently didn´t cover this particular scenario -- but when trying to create a "real world" application, the specific requirements are usually different from any tutorial.
However, ADDT actually provides two Nested Repeat Region "flavors" -- a) the Wizard that´s doing everything for you without having to provide the recordsets, and b) the Nested Repeat Region *server behavior* which can be applied to existing recordsets. I´m not sure which one you actually used, but I guess it´s the Wizard, which can be a little inflexible when it comes to the generated recordsets.
You think in future versions of Dreamweaver that text should be selectable?

I am having a hard time learning action script. I want to
have a movie clip that was pulled from the library with
"attach_movie", but once it is done I need it to go to another
scene. Is this something simple, or am I asking for a lot? I have
been through a ton of tutorials just to figure out the attach movie
action, but the second part of the problem is very perplexing to a

of the clip that is being pulled from the library, or the scene

Newbie Help with videocameras and editing software
I am a third grade teacher who can whip around in imovie pretty well, but I want to expand and post training videos to the web. I also want to vodcast. I need a relatively easy videocamera, and of course, reasonably priced. I don't understand all the mumbo jumbo about the dvd, tape, flash videocameras except to know that some are not compatible with osx.
Also would I be better off with Final Cut Pro Express?

It's very intimidating at first. The short answer is that all this is compatible with iMovie.
The longer one is:
The number refers to frames per second (frame rate, in the jargon). Cine cameras run at 24 frames per second, so 24 fps is considered to give a look to moving objects similar to what you'd see in a filmed movie (think wagon wheels appearing to go backwards in old westerns).
p refers to progressive, and means that you're getting 24 complete frames each second - again like film (this idea of mimicking film is the holy grail to some video makers - I say video is video, and should be treated like video). The opposite of progressive is i, for interlaced. Interlacing is a technique used in television since the early days as a way of giving you a better looking TV picture; in interlacing, instead of looking at each frame as a whole, you split it into very narrow lines, then scan al the odd ones, followed by all the even ones. In the old days, the scanning had to be linked to the way in which the electricity supply worked, so scanning was based on a frequency of 60 cycles per second (in the USA).
So in video, you will see camcorders offering a frame rate of 60i as standard - i.e. 60 interlaced frames in one second.. They usually also offer 30p (which combines the results of 2 60i scans to give you 30 complete frames. And then as you've seen, 24p so you can make it look like film.
You can shoot good movies in any of those frame rates; which ones you choose are up to you, but they're all used by many people for many different purposes. Some people will tell you you must use frame rate x for subject y. Listen, but don't follow blindly - try it out and see what works for you.
The issue you will sometimes here debated about iMovie is how to take video you have shot interlaced, and get iMovie to export it as progressive, but still in high quality. Don't worry about that right now.
Just get a camcorder you like, and make some movies. First feel really proud of them, then learn some more, and feel embarrassed by them (this is what we all do!).

Create a procedure to insert a record into the Bill_Items table. All the fields in the Bill_Items table will be specified as para with the exception of the Selling_Price, which will be the Current_Price, retrieved from the Menu_Items table. Newbie Help: Java Object to create an image
Hi there.
I'm trying to create a Java class that I can call from Coldfusion that will build a GIF file based on parameters.
The idea is, the Java object opens a "background" gif file and then writes some text onto it and saves the whole thing out as a GIF.
Bearing in mind this class will be used directly by Coldfusion, and so isn't an applet or an application...can anyone tell me what is wrong with this code as I get a null pointer exception on the getGraphics() line:

You must call "setVisible(true)" on your Frame before
creating the image.But, the thing is, this object doesnt have (or need) a GUI. Its just an object that sits on the server and its methods are called to generate an image on disk. Basically what happens is Coldfusion receives information from a user and it loads the java object, calls a method which then generates a new GIF file that is made up of a simple button background and some text (entered by the user)....it then returns the name of this file to Coldfusion and Coldfusion stores it in a database for later retrieval.
In simple terms:
COLDFUSION===========
1. Creates an instance of the JAVA Object
2. Call the generateGif method passing an image filename and some text eg:
newFile=c.GenerateGif( "simplebutton.gif", "Some text for button");
JAVA OBJECT========= (GenerateGif method)
1. Load the GIF simplebutton.gif
2. Create a new blank image
3. Draw the loaded GIF onto the blank one
4. Write the Text ("some text for button") onto the image
5. Take the image and encode it to GIF format
6. Write this GIF to disk
7. Return the filename of the new GIF image just created
8. Finish
As you can see, I dont want or need a GUI.....
Is this possible ?

Newbie Help? Audio Out Of Sync After Capture
Please help a newbie to this great forum:
I use Final Cut Pro HD and import Sony DV tapes which were shot with a Sony VX-2000. Once recorded, I Log and Capture the tapes as I play them on a Sony GV-D 1000 NTSC player - the little "Walkman" of DV tapes.
If I import four tapes, chances are in two of them the audio will be out of sync with the video by half a second or so, and I have to manually reposition the audio track in the FCP timeline. The other two tapes will be ok.
How do I tackle this??

DV tends to drift over time when shot with unlocked cameras. That may be your issue. The way to work around this is to capture in smaller chunks, say 15 -20 minutes. -
Newbie Help - 5th gen with no stuff!
Hello all - I recently got a 5th gen iPod from a friend that owed me $$ and all i got was the unit (black/silver - 30GB). Besides a charger, headphones, etc - what do I need to join the revolution? I am totally new to this but feel that this iPod is the bees knees. Any help with software, connections, videos, etc? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping a newbie out!
New? Windows XP DuLL desktopWell the main thing you need, besides headphones, is a dock cable to plug the iPod into your computer. You can then put stuff on the iPod with that cable and the cable also charges the iPod from the USB port.
One nice product out there is Griffin's Powerblock which can be seen here...

$30 and can be bought at places like Best Buy. The nice thing about this is that not only is it a charger that plugs into the wall and gives you a standard USB port to charge your iPod and any other USB chargable devices without needing a computer (great for traveling), Griffin was even kind enough to include an iPod USB Dock cable that you need anyway.
In the meantime, if you haven't already, download and install iTunes on your computer and start importing your CD library into it.

Processing Sent Mail - newbie help

I am an Applescript newbie who needs some help please.
I would like to have an applescript which runs my Mail rules against the content of my sent mailbox. It needs to use Apple's logic system as I am a MailTags user.
I am happy to do it through the GUI or some clever programming.
All I have managed to (not) achieve through cut-and-paste of other people's scripts in this forum is as follows:

I solved the problem by using a variant of the script I showed above:

Then I downloaded a system preference pane called Do Something When which is set to launch my script every time Mail opens - if you set it to launch when Mail closes the script re-opens Mail and you get caught in a Mail-quit loop.
Another way of doing it would have been to get the script to run every time a message comes in. The problem is that with my rather pathetic script, I am using UI calls so at the end of the script Mail is left showing the Sent mailboxes, not where you started with.
If anyone can help me to improve this situation, I will be very grateful.

Tandberg Video Problem - Newbie Help
Newbie here!
Camera is not sending video nor can video of other locations be seen on the monitor of one of our Tandberg units..audio is working. Screen is just showing a icon of a phone with the word STREAMING on it. This is not a newly setup unit...it was working just a week ago.
Any advise on where to start troubleshooting? Any help or direction would greatly be appreciate. Thanks!I figured it out. Found there was an existing streaming connection that was looping. Select that connection under calls and his the cancel/disconnect button on remote.

Newbie, Help! iTunes won't play or import random files - no error message
Have a large library of MP3 files created with Real Audio. All played well in Real Audio or Windows Player. I did a complete unintall of Real Audio, installed ITunes, and while it accepts some of the songs(files), it doesn't accept others. It seems utterly random. There are no differences between the files. All are legit. I do not get an error message, but NOTHING happens no matter what method I employ to play or import the song/file. Have compared file attributes via properties and there is no difference. Itunes is the default player, and I have not reinstalled Real Audio. I just listen to the songs on computer while working, but thought I would try Itunes and get an IPod. Not off to a very good start.
I suppose Real Audio was used, though for sometime I used Iomega to store them on zip disks. It has been a long time. For the CD's that I have on hand, I have been doing what you suggested. This is not easy, as the old files were just all together in one file, and while I thought I had changed settings so that iTunes would do the same (after learning that iTunes puts things in lots of different folders - especially confusing for me with soundtracks with different artists)the last one I did was put in folders entitled unknown/unknown with only track numbers. And if I change anything using explorer, I have to find each file for iTunes again. I'm still struggling, not understanding how these mp3 files are different in some way. Some are from the same CD's. At any rate, now that I am (found your term) ripping these CD's again, is there a way to avoid all the folders and layers of folders? Thank you for your patience. Can I transfer my itunes to a MP3 player? newbie, help please
Hi, I need your help. I have a HP Media Center PC with all bells and whistles. I just learned about itunes. I downloaded a free song. I have also gotten 5 songs for free from a website called Connect (run by Sony).
what I was expecting to do was to go to Radio shack and purchase an MP3 player for $59.99. It's about all I can afford.
then I found out that the songs I downloaded from Connect cannot be transferred to an mp3 player unless it is a Sony MP3 player. The mp3 player in Radio Shack was not a Sony. but I did ask the salesman if I could do itunes with this and he said "sure". but I'm not sure now. I have read about all kinds of formats with downloading these songs. such as OPENMG format and something called ATRAC. See where I'm getting confused?
What I need to know is this: If I purchase songs from itunes and it goes on my hard drive, can I then purchase the mp3 player and transfer the songs so I can go for a walk and play my mp3 player. I can't afford an ipod.
Do I have to buy a special mp3 player to be able to use itunes. I can't find any information on this on the site.
I am a disabled person and could use some help.

I have a HP Pavillion Media Center. this should allow me to burn cds, right? I have never done this in my life but believe me I learn fast. I have two drives that I'm looking at right now on my tower.
The top drive says LightScribe DVD+-/CD Writer
The other drive says CD rom.
I presume, to burn a cd (or whatever it's called), I use the top Lightscribe thing, right?
so I guess I have to get a blank cd rewritable thing, place it in the top drive and copy the sonic stage (sony) songs onto that right? then I can get the ipod and transfer from the newly burned cd into the ipod, right?
I have absolutely no idea how to accomplish this but I'm willing to at least do the first step and burn the cd.
Now, here's my question. Many years ago, when I had my other HP pavillion,it came with a re-writable drive. I tried to burn something to it and I did not know what I was doing. I do remember that the cd was some kind of RW thing.
I probably have one of those in my house. They are over 5 years old. Is this what I have to use to put the songs on it.
do I have to go to the computer store and buy a new blank cd-rw (if that is indeed what I will be using).
I want to know exactly what kind of blank cd thing I have to put in the drive. And do I use the one marked Lightscribe.
See, once I know what to do, I'll figure out how to do it.
I'm going to search my room to find one of the old blank ones but I won't use it until you say, "yes, use it.".
I know I used to have a case of them. Never used them but they are still around.
Are they still compatible with my windows xp, HP Pavillion media center.
And I should tell you what I tried to do last night. I was researching all about converting files and I saw something that said "drag the files into your itunes folder and you should have the songs in their". so stupid me, I go to my start menu, open up the explore thing, I find the "sonic stage" thing, I see the itunes thing, I dragged and sonic stage into the itunes thing and sure enough, right in front of me a little message popped up showing me it was "copying files to itunes". So I said "holy sh*t, I actually did it", "i'm going to see my songs in my itunes folder". Well, that didn't happen. I opened up my itunes library and only my original itunes song was there. No songs from the sonic stage library was put in.
I have no idea what was copied into what. So what exactly did I do?

Newbie help please: "Validation of XML file failed."
Hopefully my question is short and easy.
I'm a developer and haven't used FrameMaker before. However for unforeseen reasons, I've inherited our technical help documentation constructed in FrameMaker which I've never used. Unfortunately I'm under a very tight deadline and I'm attempting to update our already existing and fairly extensive application help files.
However, I'm getting a "Validation of XML file failed" error for 90% of our .xml help docs. I opened our .book file in FrameMaker fairly easily, and can see all of our .xml files. However the variables already embedded in the documents aren't being recognized and seem to be causing the above error. I've located our variable definition files (xml) in the concepts folder, but FrameMaker doesn't seem to recognize them. Any suggestions on what I can check or how I can get FM to refer to the variable definitions? I'm working with a new installation of FM, is there some setup I overlooked?

Thank you both so much for your offer of help. My apologies for not replying earlier. Other 'emergencies' and priorities at work took me in other directions. It turns out another solution has been found for the time being. But thank you again for your replies. They say a lot about this community and its support. :)
