Newest QT7 (7.6.9) Not Installing

2.7 GHz Core i5, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
I installed QT 7.6.6 from my install disks, per the support notes. That part worked fine.
The problem starts when I try and upgrade QuickTime 7 to the latest version, 7.6.9. It tells me to use Software Update to patch it, but Software Update says all my software is current.  Has this version not made it into the patch queue yet?  There's no way to install it for those of us who are stuck with the current half-functioning version of QuickTime X.
(For my next trick, watch me pull my old QT7Pro media key out of my hat -- uh, I mean, dead G4 iMac)

So I finally found out.  It didn't help that the installer for 7.6.6 is monumentally stupid and at the end of installation blips up a message that "You may have installed software that is older than was already on your system" and to check apple.com for new updates.  And then again, I'm also used to installing the highest patch number on a new machine.  I know it's not just me, as my husband the system architect had the same "Whaaa?" reaction to the patch numbering.
Combined with the new "features' of the OS meant to idiot-proof it and hide the UNIX underpinnings, I'm beginning to understand why a couple of my friends have wiped their disks and installed Linux instead.  I've been both a Mac and UNIX geek for over 20 years.  It should not be this hard to get a system up and running straight out of the box.

gets to starting services then pops up that i tunes not installed correctly with error message r6034 and says to reinstall which i do with the same results. It also says an application has made an attempt to load c runtime library incorrectly. Help

I experienced a similar problem. While trying to download iTunes 9.0.3 I got an error message "network resource where source is located is unavailable (something to that affect). Please re-install iTunes."
The next time I tried to download iTunes 9.0.3, i selected "save" instead of "open" the iTunes.setup.exe. I then saved it to the download folder. I still got the "network.." error but the iTunes.setup.exe did finish downloading into the download folder.
I then went to download folder and selected iTunes.setup.exe by right clicking on it. I selected "Properties." Under the "General" tab, there was an option to "unlock" this file. I selected "unlock," then closed the dialogue box. I then tried to run iTunes.setup.exe by right-clicking on it. It worked like normal.
Apparently, Windows 7 put some kind of security lock on iTunes installer while downloading it. This lock has to be removed before the setup exec can run.
    I hope this helps.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

    ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700

    Hello
First of all I really dont understand why you start two topics with the same theme. It is much better to have one topic with good content and interesting comments. Am I right? ;)
Anyway, in your case it is interesting that Toshiba use adapted drivers because of hardware protection. That means that graphic card will not be forced to run at the maximum level. Hardware cooling in notebooks is very problematic and high temperature can result with overheating or hardware damage. All hardware components are placed on small place. Graphic card produce a lot of warmness and it is not so good for all other hardware.
When you use non-Toshiba driver graphic card will be forced to run faster. Because of that every notebook manufacturers dont support usage of third part drivers. The fact is that hardware protection is priority.
I didnt make any experiments but according to some reports on this forum there is way how to install non-Toshiba graphic card driver.
Please check this forum and you will find many comments about that. One interesting topic is http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=18063&messageID=66186

  • Quicktime will not install with Polonizator

I have tried to install the newest quicktime update. The Software update preference panel did not show the update, but I downloaded it manually.
The installer says "Cannot install QuickTime on this volume. This software does not contain support for your system language".
Likewise the newest iTunes software says "You cannot install iTunes on this volume. You are not allowed to install the software on this disk for an unknown reason".
This is strange as the language preferences is set to American English.
It seems that the "Polonizator" Disk modifies the system software so that it becomes impossible to use the update mechanism in Mac OS X.
    Maybe file a bug ???

  • ITunes 6.4 will not install?  Help!

    Good evening everyone,
Every time iTunes opens it asks me to install iTunes 6.4 (I believe) or the newest version.  It begins to install and gets maybe about 75% done before an error pops up saying that the network I am on does not contain the resources necessary to install the program.
I honestly don't know what to do when it comes to solving this.  I'm good with computers but don't know too much about them, and I don't want to permanently damage this one.  I have Windows Vista.  The laptop I'm using is old but still fully functional from around 2005?  It's an hp as well, not that it matters.  Please help, I love my music and I hate that iTunes is acting up.
    Thanks,
    Hannah

And the updater is called iTunes6.4.
    many thanks.

  • The new ACR 5.5 update will not install in Elements 7.0

    Hello All:
This situation is now becoming ridiculous (well, for me that is).  I just tried to install the new ACR 5.5 update and it is "unable to install" into Elements 7.0.  I downloaded the update several times, unzipped the install file, but when trying to install, it just gives me a message that it is unable to install and to hit the "quit" button.
I have a Vista 64 Bit system with 12 Gigs of RAM.  I've installed Elements 7.0 and Lightroom 2.5 on my system - all with no problems.  For some reason, I could never get Photoshop CS-4 to install at all and I've been through the mill trying to install Photoshop - but nothing worked and had to eventually give up.  Trying to get Adobe support for CS installation on my 64 Bit system has been ridiculous in this regard as each and every time I called, I was connected with some techrep located in India who all they did was "parrot" back what I told them - how frustrating.  But as I mentioned, Elements 7.0 and Lightroom installed just fine.
The previous ACR 5.4 installed just fine into Elements, but now...ACR 5.5 will not install.  It tells me that I do NOT have CS-4 installed so it cannot install.  What's up with that? Has Adobe stopped supporting the latest ACR upgrades for Elements?  What gives?
Does anybody just have just the newest ACR 5.5 plug-in by itself that they can send me so I can just put it in my plug-ins folder (or a place where I can download it)?  Adobe used to just have the plug-in that you could unzip and copy and paste and put it into your plug-in folders - but not anymore.  Now they make it an 82 Meg install program and thus some of my problems.
Can anybody help here?  Why does the install program look for CS-4, yet overlook Elements 7.0 completely.  Helpppppppppp.
    Ben

    Hi Benherrmann,
Sorry to listen that you havent been able to install the Camera Raw 5.5 plugin.
But as far as my knowledge goes for PSE, PSE never lists Camera Raw plugin for updates in the Updater Preferences dialog i.e., if you will launch Help->Check for updates, a updater window will open. If you will check the preferences of that updater dialog, it will tell you that it never checks for updates for Camera Raw plugin unlike what happens in Mac. In Mac Camera Raw updates does get installs just by installing PSE(v6 of course as there is no PSE7 for Mac. Hopefully there will be a v8 for Mac by the end of october as seen in the last release).
Dont know exact reason why Adobe had configured it in that way? why there is some difference between Win and Mac.
So it prompts me that somehow you need to install Ps CS4 on the machine to get the patch installation through updater. Although this is not Ps forum, would you mind telling what error/issues are you facing while installing Ps CS4?
    Regards,
    Ankush

So after I have to hit cancel I get another message saying basically error code 2330.
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Instrument I/O Assistant not installed correctly

I've been troubleshooting this problem for over 2 weeks now and every response to this question that has found success I have tried, but was unable to fix the problem.
in labView, double selecting the I/O Assistant it reads the infamous text
"I I/O Assistant Not installed correctly or..."
I have downloaded the latest NI-VISA 5.1.3 (or the latest), NI-488.2.  In order to install the NI-VISA I needed to find a .net 4.0 framework & Visual Studios 2003 or better.  After this failed, I downloaded the DCD_AUG12_1 & 2_Downloaders.  After that did not work it left me considering if my machine or equipment is the problem, or if the software is just unable to support these features.
    My System Information includes
    Windows XP 32 bit
    Drivers Include:
    8757d
    Agilent 34401
    HP8753x
    Connection Attempting:
    GPIB Ethernet
When launching labView I receive an error
"The web server cannot start.  Is the webserver port already in use...
...labView Network Address is in use"
When trying to communicate with the machine connected to my computer, I can write to it, however I cannot read from or query information from it.  NI says its connected just fine.
Lastly my NI is 2005 and Labview is 8.0
I am pretty novice in this equipment and technology.  So if there is any specific details that I need to add, please let me know and I will update the post to include such details.
