NIC Teaming on new 2012R2 install IntelX540-T2 Netgear XS712T not functioning properly

I have a new 2012R2 server with an Intel LOM X540-T2 Dual port, 10-gig copper NIC. I'm trying to team both ports to a Netgear 10-gig copper switch (XS712T, CAT6A cables) and not having much luck. Latest firmware/drivers all around. I reset to factory defaults
on the Netgear switch.
From a console, I go to server manager, NIC Teaming, New Team.
When I try Team Mode: Switch Independent / Load balancing mode: Dynamic. Both ports become Active. I understand that now the adapters listed in networking connections are to be left alone, and that configuration should take place on the Microsoft
Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver. The 'Team' adapter is supposed to DHCP, but never does, and ends up with a private 169.254 address. If I manually configure ip4 on the 'Team' adapter, I still have no communication to the network.  Both ports are able
to DHCP when un-teamed. Something interesting is that port 1 only shows received packets, and none sent. At the same time, port 2 shows a much smaller number of sent packets, but zero received. Odd.
When I try Team mode: LACP / Load balancing mode: Dynamic. I add two of the Netgear ports to a LAG and enable LACP. One of the ports in Windows will show 'Active' (and has DHCP'd with normal send/receive), and the other port shows 'Faulted LACP Negotiation'
with very few sent packets and zero received.
Any ideas, or places to look next?
Edit: It looks like I can get physical port 1 to join the LACP group, but physical port 2 will not join, even after swapping cables and rebooting the Netgear switch. But port 1 still goes 'active' regardless of the switchport that it's plugged into.

  • Tried to update iPod, failed, no new drivers installed. Now iPod does not show in my computer or in iTunes.

Anyone know how I can update/unbrick this iPod? It's useless. It's stuck on the screen that says connect to iTunes. iTunes doesn't know it's there. My computer doesn't know it's there. It's not the USB port.
Please don't direct me here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - already tried, no results.
Last time it was a missing driver for iTunes but iTunes says nothing new is needed. Help appreciated.

Let me try this again. My computer said my iPod needed an update. I clicked ok. iTunes said it was doing the update. I browsed the internet. I came back to it after it was done, and it said update failed, no new drivers installed. Now my iPod touch is a brick. I cannot use it for anything. You know that screen that shows the usb cable, a white arrow, and iTunes? It's stuck there. No amount of pushing the sleep/wake button and home button will convince it to go to any other screen. When I go to 'My Computer', it does not recognize that there is anything there. It is not the USB port. Everything was fine until the update tried and failed.
I am not installing iTunes (piece of crap software that it is) on the other computer in my apartment.
I have exhausted the articles that sort of go with the problems I am having. They all assume a non brick iPod. Mine is a brick and therefore those articles, including the one you linked, are not relevant.
Not meaning to be rude, but I came into this not caring much for Apple's business model. I've had my iPod for .. a week? Maybe two, and nothing I've seen has convinced me to feel otherwise. Apple's products are supposed to just work. I am not finding that to be the case. Anyone with anything helpful please?

  • I've been using FCP 7 on my iMac for quite some time with great success.  Lately I created a new project and the browser window does not format properly (it's O.K. for previously created projects). The effects window is also not displaying properly.

Help! My browser window is suddenly not formatting properly. (losing browser formatting, glitch, bug)  I'm using FCP 7 on an iMac with OS X 10.8.5 and have been successfully doing so for a couple of years.  I fear my Final Cut Pro is corrupt and I have to re-install. Anyone ever see this problem? Old projects display and behave fine in the browser, but any new project I create, totally loses the formatting in the browser and the browser also does not display the "effects" window properly anymore. (see below)

YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!  I reinstalled the program and everything. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! MY HERO!!!

  • Since installing Lion, I have not been able to utilize Time Machine (does not recognize the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not function properly; I have experienced unreasonable delays in the system.  Is there a fix or upgrade coming?

Is there a fix or upgrade to deal with the many problems I am experiencing since I installed Lion?  I can no longer utilize Time Machine (Does not see the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not work properly; my iMac has slowed down considerably.  I am reminded of having a PC machine again.  Bummer!

Either downgrade to Snow Leopard or try reinstalling Lion.
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • New itunes install error - Installation package could not be opened. Verify

I Just bought a brand new computer last night. I am trying to install Itunes and get the following error. "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists ad that you can access it, or contacnt the applicaiton vendor to verify that this is avalid windows installer package"
I am running windows 7 64 bit home premium. I have verified that i have downloaded the correct itunes version itunes64setup.exe
    So far i have tried
-downloading and installing all microsoft updates
-disabled all anti virus and firewall software,
    -rebooting and re-downloading
-tried installing quicktime first. (gives me the same error)
    -stopping and restarting windows installer
-deleted all items from the temp folder
-tried running itunes64setup.exe as admin and also in compatibility mode
-verified i have downloaded itunes64setup.exe with IE 64 bit
I am at a loss. I can not find any real solution for this problem. I am now 5 hours into trying to find an answer. This is a brand new computer and I have installed no other programs on it than what came out of the box.
Any help would be greatly appriciated!!

Well if anyone else runs into this problem, this is how i got it fixed.
I did a complete system restore to the origional factory default on the computer. I would not have thought that this would have been needed as it was brand new out of the box with nothing downloaded/changed on it.
However it worked. The only thing I can thing of, is that on the origional factory install of the software there may have been a corrupt or missing file that when I did a new install corected itself.
If you have the origional windows disk that came with the computer I would use that to completely reinstall windows. If you are like me and they didnt provide you a disk, I made a complete backup of the system to disk and made a recovery disk just to be safe before restoring the system.
Hopefully this is helpfull to someone.

  • Trying to install Mountain Lion, getting Disk not formatted properly

I am currently running osx 10.6.8, trying to install Mountain Lion and when I am selecting the drive to install too I get:
"This disk is not formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)..."
This is my master HD so i cant really just reformat it? Im not great with macs so step-by-step would help.
      Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro8,1
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i7
    System Version:          Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
      Kernel Version:          Darwin 10.8.0

Open Disk Utility, select your Macintosh HD volume. In the status area at the bottom check that it is partitioned using GUID. Now click on the Journal icon in the toolbar above. This should fix it for you without having to reformat the drive.
Since you have the downloaded Mountain Lion installer I suggest you make a copy of it in your Downloads folder. Then do the following:
    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/
Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button.
Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move
the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You
must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes
        installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
      a. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
      b. After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left
side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
      c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until
          the process has completed.
      d. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side
list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      e. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the
button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
      f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
         drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
      a. Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
      b. Open Disk Utility.
      c. Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
      d. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      e. Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
      f. Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
      g. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.

  • The new mail blue button is not functioning properly

The blue button next to new mail no longer goes away when the mail is opened. If I shut down and reopen it still shows as new mail. If I go to a different function on the iPad and come back the blue button finally disappears.
This started happening the next day after I had problems deleting a single email that refused to delete, even through edit/delete. I finally tried emptying my trash, which for some reason took the stubborn email with it.
Is there a way to fix the blue button problem and are the problems I'm experiencing a sign of something going wrong with my iPad?

No promises but a system Reset cures many ills and takes but a minute to perform:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A Reset does NOT delete apps, photos, movies, music or any other data. A Reset does NOT delete any settings for email, network access, etc.
Also, you might wish to download the 4.2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 170.

I cannot use expose, itunes controls, or anything.   When I hit the controls for itunes, it activates either expose or the dashboard or something else.  I can deactivate this in system settings under the keyboard controls, and I can even rebind the keys in there, however there seems to be no way for me to get my audio controls to work.  How do I get skip, play/pause, mute, and volume controls to work again?  I can't find anywhere I can go to bind the f-whatever keys to those functions again.  This is very frustrating as I constantly use these audio controls.

How to Create a Bootable Flash Drive to do a clean install of Lion.  I have tried to use the InstallESD.dmg but it still will not do a clean install so that I do not have to do a reinstall from the Recovery (That just re downloads and takes over 6 hours)?
The system I'm have is a Mac-mini that had SL on it and no SuperDrive.  I have also call Apple Support and they have really have not been to much help over 1st did my up grade to Lion and Installed the Lion Server.... it lost my SSL that I paid for and kill almost on of my server setting, plus kill all my web servers (using apache vhosts), and not to say the LDAP will even let remote users login to your laptops.
PS: There is no way that I'm going to buy a Install USB from Apple... They have over billed me over $300.00 because the Apps Store still has bugs (Glad I did not write that App/Service)
If there is anyone that can give in the information to create a USB install stick, I would be very thinkful.

Here you are bro, courtesy of "softpedia.com"....brilliant site!!!
If you ever had problems with your Mac OS X installation you know that the first thing you should do is to check the startup volume using Disk Utility.
After the check has ended and, if the errors exceed a certain level of seriousness, the Disk Utility application will require you to restart your Mac and use its Mac OS X Install disc counterpart.
Other users may have to reinstall OS X altogether, but will find, or already know, that their SuperDrive (a CD/DVD reader and write combo drive) is not functioning properly and it will not be able to read the Install disc.
Although this might happen to Mac OS X Leopard users due to faultyhardware, the vast majority of problematic SuperDrives will be encountered inside Snow Leopard running Macs.
This is due to the updated SuperDrive firmware included in either the Install disc or the software updates one has to install to reach the latest version of OS X, namely 10.6.6.
This can be fixed by flashing the SuperDrive’s stock firmware using free command line tools that one can find for free online (I will write about this process also, but at a later time because this article only focuses on allowing you to create your own alternative USB boot disc).
If you are reading this last bit of information with skepticism, than you should know that it happened to me too. Despite all my tries to make it work properly, the SuperDrive kept on munching any inserted DVDs and just popped them out in about twenty seconds.
The workaround to this issue was to create my own Leopard bootable USB memory stick. I am not suggesting a Snow Leopard bootable stick mainly because there are lots of users that have decided to buy the cheaper, Upgrade version, which I have not tested and, therefore, I’m not sure if it will work properly once written to a USB disk.
And now, here are the exact steps you should follow in order to obtain a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) Install disc.
Step 1 (If you already have the Leopard install disc DMG file you can skip to Step 2)
Launch Disk Utility (you can find it inside /Applications/Utilities). Here select the Leopard Install disc in the list of drives on the left and click on the New Image menu entry at the top of the window. A save message will appear where you will have to select the Desktop as a destination.
    Step 2
After Disk Utility has finished creating the Leopard DMG, insert your USB stick and erase all data and reformat the disk. To do this select the USB in the list of drives on the left and, after clicking on the Erase tab on the right side of the window, choose the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and click the Erase button beneath.
    Step 3
After the USB has been reformatted, download the SuperDuper app from HERE and launch it. Once SuperDuper starts, you will only have to select the DMG in the Copy drop-down menu, your USB memory stick on the right and hit the “Copy Now” button.
One can also use Disk Utility for this task but creating a bootable USB stick failed 2 out 4 times when copying the DMG to the stick (with the exact same settings each time). Creating the bootable stick using SuperDuper proved to be the perfect way to do it because it worked each of the 4 times I tested it.
The steps above can also be used to create a bootable Mac OS X Lion USB by using the InstallESD.dmg image you can find inside the Lion installer (named “Install Mac OS X Lion.app”) downloaded from the Mac App Store in the /Applications folder.
To locate the InstallESD.dmg right click the Lion installer, select the “Show Package Contents” entry, go inside the “Contents” folder, and from there into the “SharedSupport” folder. Inside this folder you can find the InstallESD.dmg you can use to create your own bootable Mac OS X Lion USB stick. To do so, go to the third step described above and use the InstallESD.dmg as the DMG to be copied to your USB disc.
That’s it! Once the process ends you will have a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) USB disk that you can use as an alternative to the Apple’s DVD Install disc that comes bundled with all Macs.
To use your newly created bootable disk you will have to restart the Mac, press and hold the OPTION key until the StartupManager appears. Here, select the Mac OS X Install disk using your keyboard arrows and press return to start from the selected drive.
