Nickname in "View my account" - can you restore the blank field?

Hey, I am using iTunes with my AOL screenname. When I set up my account, I went to check my profile by selecting "Store --> View my account..."
As you know, there is the option to set up a nickname for reviews and stuff. Originally, I did not have a nickname, so the field was blank. I figured I'd try and reserve my AOL screenname as a nickname. My desired one, however, was in use by another user. I cancelled out and the field was still empty. So far so good.
Then I tried with some random nickname just for the sake of it. I entered something that was not in use by another user, and as a result, the nickname field showed that name. That was to be expected.
Now I thought I could always reset the field to blank status, removing my nickname. I am shocked I cannot do this. Whenever I access my account, I am seeing some nickname I did not really want in the first place. And I cannot reset it? I have to say I am very disappointed about this. It just looks wrong.
I can change the nickname to something different but I cannot remove it. Seeing that my AIM screenname is taken, I do not want to use any different nickname at all. I just want to have it reset to how it was when I first loaded my account information: blank field.
Any help? Thanks for reading.

yes.

in the file .DS_Store sitting in the folder in question. there is a file like that in every folder.
I ask this question because my colleague uses folders with manual icon arrangement as a metadata.
wow!
The Apple Store employees I spoke with today did not know if Time Machine tracks this data.
(Interestingly, my colleague's reference system has powered a number of highly influential publications. Perhaps this question could also be filed under the ethnography of data curation?)
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can you restore the trashcan?

Is it possible to restore the deleted files that I deleted from the trash. If so how? This is really confunsing so, if I put stuff in the trash, then I delete them there is there a way to restore them?

I believe there are some programs like DiskWarrior and FileSalvage and even the universally despised and thoroughly unrecommendable MacKeeper that claim to do this, but chances of success vary on how you deleted the files (secure empty trash or not?) and how much of the disk space has been written over since.
EDIT: let me just be clear that my mention of the three programs above is in NO WAY to be understood as a recommendation (particularly not for the last one, which I will unreservedly NOT RECOMMEND for anything except BEING AVOIDED. I mention them only as examples of software that claims to be able to rescue deleted files.

  • Can you restore the data from an iPhone 6 if it has water damage?

i want to know if i can get all the data that was on my iPhone 6 that has water damage.

No way to tell until you try. If the water damage was severe enough
to prevent the iPhone from starting up, then the answer is effectively no
    (see next paragraph).
Companies specializing in data recovery may - emphasis on may - be
able to recover some data. Attempts are very very expensive and there are
no guarantees. Google/Bing/Yahoo/etc should assist in locating such companies.

If you have an iPhone 4 and it's locked with somebodys Gmail account is there a way to remove the old account?

Only if you're able to reach the person who set the lock, or if you're the device's original owner(if so, contact Apple).

I am creating a new form but do not want the boxes around the field? I just want a line, is that possible? If so, how do I change that?

You can change the font via Settings > Notes, and you can change font size for Notes, Mail, and Contacts (but not just Notes) via Settings > General > Accessibility > Large Text

    So what is your question?
If you forgot your encryption password:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

  • A gap between letters started to show in my indesgn files. tried to undo with tracking, the paragraph settings. nothing helped. it ruins the fluent view of the document. how can i restore the program so that doesn't happen?

a gap between letters started to show in my indesign files. tried to undo with tracking, then with the paragraph settings. nothing helped. it ruins the fluent view of the document. how can i restore the program so that doesn't happen?
for example: say i write a paragraph. then, in a weird some sort of way an involuntary gap suddenly appears between different letters of random words(i did not recognize any pattern to the gap appearing) throughout the entire paragraph. once i've double clicked on that paragraph, and made a minor change, lets say tapped a 'space' key, and then clicked ctrl+z to undo, it has aligned(or fixed) the entire paragraph and made it look ok again. i've tried numerous ways to undo the entire thing, but cannot find the reason. i've been working for a few years and there's no reason why this thing all of a sudden should happen right now.
if anyone has stumbled on something like that and can advise, i would welcome it.

yep...i'm typing with hebrew. i'll make a printscreen with the settings you've asked for@:
if you look closely you'll see that almost every line has a single letter apart. in hebrew there is no usually a singe letter structured words.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes, update first, Settings > General > Software Update.
Then navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.

How can you shrink the size of an upright picture to make it smaller without losing any of the detail in it (in Slideshow)??? At the moment, if I view them on my Mac Laptop, landscape photos fill the screen, but portrait photos only show the middle part, so I loose the top and bottom of the picture.  Have tried cropping, but that means I lose top and bottom part of the picture, so that is not the answer!!

Homestly haven't a clue what's going on there.
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
