Nikon D90 Updates for Lightroom 1.4 & Photoshop CS3

Does anyone know when Adobe will provide updates to read Nikon D90 Camera Raw files for Lightroom 1.4 & Photoshop CS3? Based on what I have heard from the Nikon forum Lightroom & Photoshop cannot read the D90 raw files. I was planning on upgrading my camera, but there is no point if I can't read the files.
Thanks,
Bevan

OK, let me see if I'm following along here:
The D90 produces an new kind of NEF file, different even from the D3 or D300 on which the D90 is (more or less?) based?
We will have to wait patiently for Adobe to create an update for both ACR and LR2, which should happen within 60-90 days (allowing for 4 times/yr). Could be as soon as October, since Photokina is at the end of September.
OK, my D80 still works great in the meantime.
Where I am getting a tad confused though is re: the "DNG" conversion. I understand that is a universal "digital negative" format supported by Adobe, and that NEF files from Nikon DLSRs can be converted to DNG -- that's an option when importing into Lightroom.
But, if Lightroom can't read a D90 NEF file, how can it convert it to a DNG?
Thanks,

It sounds as if your browser and some of your apps are not color-managed.  This is pretty typical.  Even IE9 is only partially color-managed.
You can expect color-managed and non-color-managed applications to show you different things with the same images.  How different will depend upon how different your monitor color profile is from the image's color profile.
For web publication and most general use, experts usually advise saving images with the sRGB profile.  If such images, saved through the Save for Web & Devices function, look different to you than you expect, it may be that your input images have previously been saved in another color space.
You should really try to get your head around color-management by reading more on it.  It can seem baffling and it's difficult to understand without some background.  A quick web search turns up many overviews.  Beware, though, even people writing articles sometimes don't fully understand it.

I am receiving an unexpected error message while attempting extract updates for Lightroom 5

I am using Windows 7, however, since posting the original message I have solved the problem by deleting my old Lightroom 4 download file from my download folder.  Thank you for your response.

  • Are there coming update for Lightroom 5.7.1 to 6.0 i dont use CC

Can I uppdate only my Lightroom 5.7.1 to 6.0 version, or must I by CC package?

This probably isn't going to be a big deal right now because Lightroom CC/6 has just been released. But as we go forward from this point there might be updates for Lightroom CC that include new features. Apparently those new features will not be added to Lightroom 6. It's still unclear whether or not there will be updates to Lightroom 6 to include new cameras. If there isn't, then there will probably be a lot of Lightroom 6 users who will be turning to the DNG converter or perhaps to other software.

  • Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS3 do not recognise Canon PowerShot S90 raw files

My husband has lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS3 but they don't recognise CanonPowershot S90 camera raw files. I've tried searching for the problem on internet but can't find anything that helps. Adobe's DNG converter doesn't work either. I've tried different versions of the DNG converter to no avail. Buying a new Adobe product is out of the question.
Another problem is that his e-mail address has been changed so that he can't login to his Adobe account. We used to be able to contact Adobe Netherlands by phone or email but that option isn't available anymore.
    Can anyone help please?

    Go to here:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.6
    or here:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.6
for the final versions of LR3. Download and install the software. You do not need to remove your present installation first, LR will install over it and fix any faults that now exist.
Your husband can log onto his Adobe account with the old email address and when in the account can edit the address to the new one.

  • Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS3

I have a problem where changes or if I edit pictures in Lightroom 2.0, these changes are not reflected in the actual picture if I open them in Photoshop CS3.
Is this a known issue with Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS3 or there is some sort of a workaround?

    >in Lightroom 2.0
Upgrade to Lightroom 2.1 ASAP. Fixed many bugs and it's free.
Anyway. What kind of files? How do you open the file in Photoshop, through the "edit in Photoshop feature" or do you open it separately from Finder/explorer? Do you get a dialog that asks whether you want to edit with changes or the original?

  • Nikon D810 support for lightroom 4.4 ?

I just installed an update to Lightroom 4.4 and it seems like the Nikon D810 is still not supported. Is this correct? I'm trying to shoot tethered.
    Thanks

Don't you think Adobe could just add the camera support via updates to previous versions of Lightroom?
I am NOT an Adobe defender/fan-boy, but I fully support Adobe's policy to NOT maintain legacy versions of Lightroom software - somebody has to pay for that, and it ain't the people not upgrading who do..
If you really want to read newer raws using older software you can convert them to DNG (converter is free) - tethering support not included.. You can tether with older Lr software using non-Lr tethering software and auto-import in Lr, although I recommend upgrading instead (or also..).
How much was that D810? - how much is an Lr upgrade?

  • CC update: is Lightroom out of Photoshop Photography Program subscription?

    Greetings!
After the recent CC update my Lightroom had "detached" from the installed application list and now suggests to "try" it:
When I launch Lightroom it suggests me to download update to 5.5. I looked at my account and see that I have Lightroom registered as a product and Photoshop Photography Program as subscription:
When I was subscribing for the plan in November 2013 Lightroom was part of the subscription, now it is out and the CC application is not even aware that Lightroom is installed on my computer.
Please let me know if the Lightroom is taken away from my CC subscription. If not, how can I return Lightroom into CC manger so that it alone tracks for the updates to all my subscribed CC applications?
I would appreciate any advice or insight.
    Thanks!

    Okay. Thanks a lot.
So for the 25 € per month you get only Photoshop CC (+ Bridge).
Und for the 13 € per month you get Photoshop CC (+ Bridge) and Lightroom 5.

  • Update for Lightroom 5

    Hi,
I downloaded Lightroom 5 and Photoshop cc 286 days ago. During this period I received a lot of update about Photoshop but anyone for Lightroom 5. Is it regular? Thanks

You should look for Lightroom updates from Help> Updates and make sure you have the latest 5.6 version installed.

  • Update for Lightroom not available - not a Creative Cloud member

I did not use Creative cloud and am not interested in using it.  there is an update I am told for Lightroom, but whenever I go to update it takes me to Creative Cloud.
I use Lightroom for my enjoyment, thus, not interested in spending the extra money.  I buy the new versions when it comes out.
How do I get the last update if I do not subscribe to Creative cloud.
    thanks
    tim

    Hi Tim,
Three steps. First, you can simply download the latest release using the LR6 direct links instead here:
New Adobe Lightroom 6 (CC) Direct Download Links – Free Trials
Next, see this page where you can buy a LR6 standalone license, either Full or Upgrade (from a previous LR version):
Purchase Adobe Software Products - Most Popular
You may need to change your region in the lower left of that page, if it doesn't switch automatically to your country.
...and then finally just follow these instructions to permanently activate the product/trial installed on your system:
Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6
That will convert the Lightroom CC subscription version on your computer to a Lightroom 6 perpetual licensed copy.
    Hope that helps!
Just post back if you have any further issues.

  • Can I use Lightroom 3 with Photoshop CS3 ?

Being unfamiliar with Lightroom, I would like to know, before I buy it, if I can use v3 and higher with my Design Standard Edition, which includes
    Photoshop CS3.
And if so, can I download the newest RawUpdate (6.2) for use with Lightroom 3.x or is this of no use ? Or is the use of the newest Rwa update only possible in combination with CS5 ?
Would be glad if anyone could help, because I dont't find a suitable answer in "system requirements" ...

You can use Ps CS3 with Lightroom, but ACR 6.1 is only compatible with CS5. That being said, everything that ACR 6.1 has is already built into Lr3.2. Adobe also update ACR and LR at the same time, so new camera model support shouldn't be a problem.

  • How do I create "How to" files in Lightroom similar to Photoshop CS3

    Hi
I've run a search in the forums and the like but haven't been able to come up with any thing.
I watched and tried out Matt Klowkowskis' "Printing multiple photos in multiple sizes using picture package". What I want to do is make a "help file" in light room that will have my notes on how to do this rather than trying to find the video next time I want to do this.
In CS2 & 3, I was able to convert John Shaw's "Photoshop CS3 Guide" into a set of HTML files that allowed me to go to a specific chapter with out having to load the book in and pop in and out of Photoshop.  I also did the same thing with a couple of the user manuals for plug ins.
In Photoshop the instructions on how to create "help files" are under help/How to create how tos.
    Thanks

I don't believe that capability is in Lightroom.  What you will probably have to do is create JPEG screenshots and then open those in Photoshop to create your help files.

  • Lightroom - edit in Photoshop CS3 problem

    Hi All,
I'm running Lightroom 2 on a MacPro. When I first installed it all was fine with 'edit in' function, which I had configured to PS CS3 my primary external editor. Later, as a test, I added an additional editor - Photomatix - just as a test more than anything else. I subsequently noticed that when I then tried to edit in CS3, still set as my primary editor, I was no longer shown the 'edit options' window i.e. 'Edit a copy with LR adjustments', 'edit a copy', edit original'. Instead, the original file would open directly in PS with none of my LR adjustments! I have now had to set CS3 also as my additional editor to get around this - when set as additional it shows the prompt.
Does anyone have any ideas about this behavior and how to reset LR so that it will prompt me again when I try to edit in my primary editor? I'm guessing this must be a bug with the current version. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.
    Dave

    >Dabow:They are all RAW files that I'm sending. The fact that I also have PS set as my secondary editor and from there it prompts me with the edit options window proves that it's a fault with the primary editor slot.
The primary editor slot is designed to behave differently than the secondary editor slot. From everything you have said it appears to be acting exactly as designed.
The primary editor slot, which is always photoshop.exe, is designed to send RAW files directly to Photoshop after applying the develop adjustments made in LR2x. Thomas Knoll said it best in another thread discussing this exact same issue:
Thomas Knoll, "LR 2.1RC - Still No Dialog Box w/ "Edit in Photoshop CS3" Option" #3, 26 Sep 2008 7:19 am
When you use the secondary editor slot, even if you select Photoshop.exe, those special hooks built for use with Photoshop.exe will not be used and this is by design. By placing Photoshop.exe into the secondary editor then you guarantee the old, i.e. LR1x, method of accessing an editor is used. That 'old' method activates the options dialog.
    To sum it up:
*RAW via Primary Editor slot (always Photoshop.exe) = no options dialog.
*RAW via Secondary Editor slot (even if it's Photoshop.exe) = options dialog.
*non-RAW via any editor slot = options box

  • Update for US Version of DW CS3

    Hi,
Hey, is there a USA update for DW CS3 (v9), Wintell?  The only ones I see on the Adobe website are for Middle Eastern and Afrique du Nord on the Mac.
    Thanks
    Greg

As far as I know, no.  I don't believe that the US/English version was patched.
