No animations in rehearsal mode?

I can't see my animations and transitions in rehearsal mode.
Is this normal?
If not.... any suggestions?
Thanks
Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thank you for your response.
At least I now know my machine/program is working ok.
The rehearse feature is obviously a great feature for timings, but it would be nice to see that everything is running smoothly during rehearsals - notes and timings as well as transitionas and effects, without having to physically connect to an external display.
Hopefully we'll see it in a future version.

  • No video output to ext monitor in rehearsal mode

(My whole presentation is made up of video and stills)
Hi, when I'm in rehearsal mode (Keynote 6.5.2) i cannot get full screen video output to my ext monitor.  It is only a black screen. In 'play mode' the presentation plays fine and it will give me full screen video but then i have no control of the presentation as it just plays out to the length of the clips used in each slide. I managed to save as a Powerpoint presentation which allowed me to use the play function and control it manually but i could not see the current slide playing in the presenter display. It also wiped all my trimming settings of the videos i am using.
Is there a way to run my presentation in rehearsal mode and have full screen video outputed to an external monitor and see my current slide playing on my presenter display.
My whole presentation is video and stills.
    I am using an iMac, 2.9GHz i5, 8GB Ram, OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
    Thanks in advance
    Jason

if i use an iPad to control it gives me full control to advance on click
Please clarify;   you use the iPad remote control feature to advance manually a presentation on your Mac, or you are playing the presentation on your iPad.
Did you create the presentation on the Mac yourself and what version of Keynote did you use?
    Try this test:
create a new blank presentation then drag and drop (do not copy and paste) four slides on to the navigator panel in the blank presentation
the Navigator panel is the view of slides in a column on the left hand side of the canvas.
check the settings are set for manual play as I described before:
Inspector  > Document > Document > Presentation Type:     change to Normal
select all the slides in the navigator then;    Inspector > Animate > Start Transition:     change to On Click
click the video on the slide then;     Inspector > Animate > Build In > build order button > change drop down menu to:  on click
if the presentation plays manually, drag and drop the remaining slides over.

  • Keynote Won't Show Movies in Rehearsal Mode

I can't get Keynote to show movies in Rehearsal mode.  It just plays audio only.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks!

    That's not good  .
Many — perhaps most — UI issues are resolved by deleting your preferences.  Instructions are on the Apple Trouble-shooting page.  You might first simply reboot if you haven't already.  Let us know how it goes.

  • How do you record a narration in rehearsal mode?

What I am trying to do:
I am making a stand alone movie of my presentation with a voice over and I want to be able to read my presenter notes while I am recording the voice over narration.
    (I only have one monitor)
    Problem:
    1. If I use rehearsal mode, where you can see your presenter notes, I can't record a voice over narration
    2. If I use the play mode, where I can record the voice over narration, I can't see my presenter notes. (I only have one monitor)
Its hard to believe that Apple didn't think of this usage, and if they did, they hid the information very well in their help system. If anyone has any insights on this I would be very grateful!
A second but related question is why when exporting it to a QuickTime format it loses the voice over narration, even when you have include slideshow recording checked? This gives the impression of very poor software quality control.

I too have been grapling with this since I want to improve the sound quality of the recordings and I have been fiddling with a two screen approach which of course allows you to see the Prsentation screen as well as the slides. If you don't have the extra monitor - try plugging a video adapter lead into your machine - on my MacBook (and iBook) at least this cons the machine into thinking that you have one connected and you can thus use presentation mode.
Why can't you change the type size in presentation mode though????
Another answer for you might be to try Stagemanager - an iPhone app that lets you control the presentation and see your notes at the same time. Not ideal because of the size - but Stagemanager is a BRILLIANT Five Star App.
Ideally - I want my notes to appear as in an autocue and to be able to use - and see - a recording programme eg Amadeus so that I can stop - start - mark etc and edit afterwards and then add to the slides .....
Any thoughts welcome hre too ......

  • [help] - Flash animation for i-mode mobile

    Hi! ^^
I'm getting a trouble while creating a game for i-mode
    mobiles (DoCoMo)
It works fine in Flash8 mobile simulator. But when I tested
it in i-mode Simulator II, I got a (big) trouble:
The animations perform not very slowly but when I hold down a
key to move the character in the game, every animations are nearly
stopped! only the character can move, and when it moves, all
animations inside it are stopped too :(
Everythings can only move again when I release the key :)
Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?
ah, moreover, even when I hold down a key but let the
flashplayer do nothing (i don't make the character move anymore and
let all the movieclips work it own), the animations still slow
down. It seem that the CPU spend too much time/power to process
    these keyevents :(
    Thanks ^o^

yeah sure, it works fine :) That's also the way I solved my
    problem. Thanks again ^^
But I think this could be very complex in some kind of games.
For example: a game that has a moving background (controled by AS,
not just a simple animation), and while the background is moving,
we need to make the characters move by pressing some keys.
In this case, when the key is pressed, I need to make all the
objects move: background, characters,... So a piece of code must be
placed in the keyevent handler's functions to control the moving of
the backgorund. But it only be excuted when keypressed. So to make
the background moves all the time, another copy of that code must
    be placed somewhere else.
-> There's some duplicated codes (do exactly the same
work) excuted at the same time and they may cause some problem...
It's just how I solved my problem +_+
Maybe you have a greater idea ^^
Thanks for reading! (my English is not good, heh)

  • Play movies in rehearsal mode!

Help, I have presentation on tuesday and everytime I try and practice my talk, my movies wont start and I seem to have an extra slide in front of it- Help please desperate

inside Keynote, in the QuickTime inspector tab, do you have "start movie on click". this affects when movie begins playing.
there is also an option in the Effects tab, to start movie.
these could make it look like you have an extra slide in front of it.
    good luck.

  • Change presenter note font size and edit notes in slideshow mode

Hi, I just switched to Keynote 5.03 and am still learns its features. I have some questions about the slideshow mode of keynote
    1. While in slideshow rehearsal mode with presenter notes showing, is there a way to zoom in on the notes to make the text bigger as you can in Powerpoint, which allows you to zoom up to 400%? This is handy: I can magnifying the notes without having to change its font size, hence no need to exit the slideshow mode.
    2. Powerpoint lets you edit the text of notes on the fly during a slideshow ("view presenter tool" mode), is there a way to do this in Keynote?
    3. The slide thumnails (allow you to jump to a certain slide) on top of the presenter screen are always very fuzzy, is it possible to increase the resolution to get a higher quality image?

I believe that all of these are limitations of the current version of Keynote.

  • Keynote Plays Only in Rehersal Mode on LCD Projector

I have a macbook and the latest version of Keynote. I use a Optima EzPro 735 LCD portable projector. When I play my slide show it only shows it in rehersal mode (two side by side screen with the time and timer at the bottom). Yesterday I had no problems showing it in full screen one slide at a time, so I know it can work.
    Any help? Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the discussions, MarxMan.
It sounds like what you are seeing on the projector is the "presenter display" -- this looks like the rehearsal mode, but can be used when one has two displays, so that the presenter can see what is coming up on one display while the audience, on the other display or projector, sees the regular slideshow.
What is the screen on your MacBook showing? Is it showing the slideshow, or the presenter display? If it is showing the slideshow, then there are two solutions.
One, you can turn off the Presenter Display option. To do this, in Keynote Preferences, under "Alternate Display" uncheck "Use alternate display".
Two, you can re-arrange the two displays so that the presenter display is showing on your laptop. To do this, you will need to go into the OS X Preferences, under Displays. There, you can configure the spanning geometry of the two displays. Simply reverse which display is on the "left" and which is on the "right", and this should put the Presenter Display on your machine, and the slideshow on the projector.

  • Keynote automatically opening in show mode

When I open a keynote file on my mac, keynote automatically opens the show rather than allowing me to work with the files.  Obviously I can exit the show, but it is annoying to have to do this every time that I open a Keynote file?  Is there a fix? I am using the new 2013 version of Keynote...and it didn't use to do this.

  • Spatial conform and blend mode; what does it mean and wherefore?

I can't find a explination in the help...: spatial conform and blend mode; what does it mean and when do you use it because there is e a big numbre of choises.
Ican't find a explination in the help...
    Thanks!

Spatial conform is where you decide whether you want the (oversize) image to fit the video display size, or to be full-size (allowing room for animation).
Blend modes - far too many to describe here even if I knew them all, but Overlay is a nice one to start with. They specify how you want a layer to blend with the one below it. Try them and see what they do.

  • Embedded animation always stops at slide 18 of 24 (but there are 38 slides!!)

I am trying to embed a software demonstration (walk-through) animation, created with Captivate. It has a total of 38 slides, and works perfectly on its own.
However, when I publish, and insert the resulting swf into my main Captivate lesson, it always stops at slide 18 (displays 18 of 24)... clicking the forward button shows blank screens after 18 and all the way to slide 38 (it displays slide 38 of 24 in the preview window)!!
Again, this animation works perfectly (either in preview or published) on its own.
I hate to keep asking so many questions lately. I do search the forum before I ask but nothing ever seems completely applicable!

    Hi Shawn,
    Thanks a lot ;o)
Unfortunately it's a technical limitation that makes it impossible to view the animation in preview mode. This is because when you preview from Captivate it actually creates the Captivate SWF and stores that in a temporary address on your PC. Since that temporary address changes for every project it's not possible to take this into account in the widget.
I have one workaround though. If you create a slide in your project at the very end and import all your animations to that (the regular way from Captivate) then it will also publish those animations to the temp dir and the Loader Widget would be able to pick them up. You would need to preview with F4 the first time to "publish" the entire SWF and assets to the temp dir. When you are done working on your project you can just delete that last slide and publish regularly and copy the animation SWFs to the published directory.
As for developing widgets there really isn't that many resources available that I know of. The way forward is to look at the stock widgets supplied by Adobe and then try and see how they work. Once you understand these you can begin creating your own.
Rod and Tristan Ward from Infosemantics also created something called Widget Factory. This is a new approach to AS3 widgets so that might be worth checking out for you as well. Here is the link: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/?q=node/26
This is how I got started but I must admit that for 80% of my needs I just create the functionality in Flash and totally skip the Widget API. It's just much quicker and much more stable. For some reason things tend to go a little bit crazy when you are developing stuff within the Widget API restrictions and it's extremely difficult to debug since the Widget wont work at all if it isn't played from within a Captivate movie.  Most of the functionality that you can have in Widgets can be done directly in Flash as well and then you just import it as an animation. The advantage of Widgets is that a developer who can't use Flash can modify the behaviour directly in Captivate but if you have and know Flash then it's easier to change that in Flash directly.

  • Merging layers on an animation (frame timeline)

Hey guys, the following has been happening to me since the last update (can't say if this is CC version change or not):
When using Timeline for animations in frame mode, everytime I merge layers together, it's visible on all frames, no matther what I do. This didn't use to happen, every time I'd merge layers, they would still be visible only on the current frame. Since I work on frame-by-frame animation, this slows a bit my proccess because I have to go back and make this layer invisible again on all frames it shouldn't.
Any way to turn it off?
    Thanks!

Try right clicking (in windows 7) on the layer you want to merge, or the top layer, and click 'merge down'. This will merge it into the layer under it, but won't create the bug. At least, it worked for me.

  • SWF Export; Rasterized Layer from using a simple animated mask?

I'm currently animating some drawings from Illustrator in AE CS3, and exporting them as SWF's.  Everything has gone pretty well, up until I used a simple rectangular animated mask (Inverted, Mode 'Add') that revealed a layer.  Whether I have the mask directly on the layer, or have it parented on an adjustment layer, the output is horribly rasterized, but only for that layer.  I've looked at the Help Viewer and it states that masks are a supported feature of exporting to swf, but I am flummoxed how to keep the vectored images I began with.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!
    Mike

Thanks for the reply!  I had considered that fact, even though I couldn't find any documentation for it.  However, even with a static mask, drawn onto the layer, the rasterization still occurs.  Is there a way to have even a static mask produce a non-rasterized export?  It seems it should be the case considering it's a 'supported feature.'   Do I need to import vectored shapes from Illustrator as masks, instead of drawing them in AE?  And yes, Continuously Rasterize is checked (althought it doesn't seem to be necessary in any other of the Illustrator layers).   Any ideas?

  • Keynote error VRAM

    He,
I'm having a annoying problem lately with one of my clients.
My client uses keynote for running presentations.
The presentations begins every morning and ends every evening, so its only not running at night.
After a while every mac shows the error: The computer doesn't have enough VRAM to play this presentation with this display resolution.
He uses old and new mac mini's al with 10.6.8
The weird thing is that keynote is the only applacation that is running.
I thought recently it could be solved when we upgraded to a new macmini with 10.7.2
It ran perfectly for a week till an hour ago.
It gave the same error again but this time with the newest mac mini en the newest software...
    Keynote is also up-to-date.
    Can someone help me?!
    bye,
    Remy
    p.s.
I'm from holland so don't mind my grammer!

I've recently tried opening a small presentation in keynote on unibody macbook (2.4Ghz, 4GB memory), it won't open with mirror displays or extended display connected to a 2-yr protector using mini displayport to vga @ 1024x768 or 800x600 (millions of colors and thousands of colors options)
Interesting enough, using the "Rehearsal Mode", it full screened just fine. Exporting to PowerPoint, fullscreen just fine. (except the export incorrectly formatted about 50-70% of the slides and all animations where lost)
