today morning, i start my laptop. again, no sound. tried restart but the driver is not detected. check my device manager, the sound driver is missing! no unknown device either.
anyone please help me solve my problem.

First install MS-UAA for SP3 (required with a reboot before Audio, Modem and Graphic driver) here and reboot.
If the issue persists, download and install the Conexant High-Definition Audio here
Unzip to a folder..use Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on HD",choose Update driver,
No to connect,
Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains.
Reboot.

  • Hard Drive detects imminent failure

Please can anyone help. i have a compaq 6735s lap top which is about  months ols. Today when i switch on I have a black screen with the following message: 1720-SMART hard drive detects imminent failure.
    What should i do now

    Hi,
    How many months?
The error message might or might not be true. It is worth your time to go ahead and back up all of your data to an external hard disk
Boot into Windows and go to Device manager look at the disk drive device click on the + to expand the category and post the model number (the complete alphanumeric string next to the icon)  here in your thread. There is a possibility that your hard drive requires a firmware update. I will do a bit of research to see if that is indeed the issue.
There are some Maxtor drives that have had to have the update done to correct the SMART reporting feature which caused an error message virtually identical to the one you are getting.
    regards,
    erico.

  • Envy 15-j119tx smart hard drive detects imminent failure two separate notebooks

Last week I bought an Envy 15-j119tx from a retailer, and every time I restarted it I would get an error message telling me that the smart hard drive detects an imminent failure. From my google search I found that I pretty much need to replace the hard drive. So I took the laptop back to the retailer and they apologised and gave me another one today. This one also has the same error, so I am really confused, is this a problem with this model or what?

Maybe that retailer had 800 pound gorillas stocking the shelves with laptops. I would bet if you installed a new drive it would be fine. It is also not impossible HP got a batch of bad drives and laptops shipped to the same retailer probably came off the assembly line together. I would take it back one more time and insist to start it up before you take the new one out of the store this time.

  • Error biohd-2 boot path testing no drive detected

Hi, I have an error massage on boot path testing and says no drive detected. The error code is BIOHD-2. My dard drive and everthying is OK but somehow unable to boot. please help.

    Hello ayaansharif:
These links might help you http://www.windowserrorhelps.com/biohd-2-error-fix-error-code-biohd-2-by-yourself-now , http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091109134242AAVBaGy, http://www.touchsmartdevzone.com/forum/thread/969/Error-Code-BIOHD-2/ ,http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/948483-solved-hp-desktop-selecting-proper.html Based on these answers it looks like they replaced the hard drive. Check your warranty status your computer maybe still under warranty. You can go to your computer's HP web page and  click on manual go down your computers parts list and find what hard drive it uses then go to HP's computers parts ordering page and order one. If under warranty just contact HP Direct Support and they will ship you a new hard drive. They are not to difficult to install. Just time consumming removing the little screws. You may need to order a set of recovery disk from HP as well. Because HP's recovery disk include the operating system disks. Please click on Kudos if this resolves your issue. Thank you frrw.

Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
For those with the display card error, the answers include
    a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
if necessary consider a driver roll back.
    b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
    c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?

do i have to "unassign" the disk 5 or how to find out, where these "Drive detected errors" come from?
    thanks.
    patrick

    Somya, check your parameters:
    1 * Last added file name (lastfile) ....... [I:\ORACLE\SMD\SAPDATA2\SR3_11\SR3.
    DATA11]
2 * Last added file size in MB (lastsize) . [<b>420</b>]
3 - New file to be added (file) ........... [I:\oracle\SMD\sapdata2\sr3_12\sr3.
    data12]
    4 # Raw disk / link target (rawlink) ...... []
5 - Size of the new file in MB (size) ..... [420]
6 - File autoextend mode (autoextend) ..... [yes]
7 - Maximum file size in MB (maxsize) ..... [<b>10000]</b>
8 - File increment size in MB (incrsize) .. [<b>20</b>]
option 2: your datafile will use 420MB to begin with.
option 7: it can grow up to 10000MB
option 8: it will grow with increments of 20MB
so, you need at least 10GB in your filesystem.
your warnings are saying that datafiles of 3 tablespaces, if they grow to their maximum file size, will overflow your filesystem (PSAPSR3,PSAPSR3700,PSAPSR3DB).
    solutions:
    1. increase filesystem size
    2. decrease value of maximum size of datafiles, I would especially check the maximum size of ALL datafiles of PSAPSR3.
    3. move some datafiles on another filesystem.
    good luck.

  • The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\D

Hope someone can help, yesterday in the event viewer I encountered the following error
"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\D
....I have added no new hardware for months, I checked this out on the microsoft website but they recommend changing the cable!
I ran diagnostics on the hard drives and they found no errors at all ....I got a feeling it the motherboard, frustrating as this is the second board Ive had!
Can anyone advise  on this error?
    My setup is as follows
    P4 3.2GHZ
    1GB Transcend Memory
    1 NEC 2510 DVD Wrtier
1 IDE 120GB Maxtor Diamond Max
    2 X SATA HDD
    450 watt Thermaltake Butterfly PSU

This seems to be a common problem between ICH5 chipsets and SATA NCQ drives. Apparantly a BIOS update will be able to fixed the problem but I'm not sure which BIOS you should use. I suggest that you check MSI's website to look into your mobo's BIOS release notes to find out more first.
Please also note that there's an amount of risk to flashing your mobo's BIOS as and improper flash will caused the mobo to die immediately or having multiple errors due to bad flash. I would recommend that you flash through a floppy bootdisk which seems to be the best method till date.

  • EventId: 32, disk - The driver detected that the device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 has its write cache enabled

Virtualized 2012 R2 Domain Controller running on hyper-V.  Every boot lists the following error three times:
EventId: 32, disk - The driver detected that the device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 has its write cache enabled.
    Data corruption may occur.
Having checked the virtual SCSI disks all have their write cache enabled, is this correct or do I need to take some action to prevent these events?

    Hi,
This is normal and you can't change it. This tells AD that write caching is enabled so it uses a different method to store information.

  • Error "Nvidea Open GL Driver detected problem"

This is a new system build. win 7 pro service pack1 with an i7, with ssd's and 48 gig ram. CS 6.03 with mercury playback enabled. I came from cs4.
I have 2 quadro CX cards (not sli). I don't know which version of cuda they have, but I have run the nvidia Smart Scan and its says my drivers are up to date. The current drivers are 9.18.13.697 (from device properties or 306.97 from the smart scan).
Premeire loads and I can do a little editing, but the message
"Nvidea open GL Driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.
    Error code 3."
which shuts down premeire, and in another instance, I got the BSOD.
Where do I go from here?
Is there a firmware update on the CX cards? How can I tell which version of cuda it is using?

I tried removing one cx card and still get the message.
I purchased a geforce gtx 680 which has 4 monitor support. In premiere, I started loading many effects on a clip and could see the gpu & memory being used with good results.
However with AE, in the gpu monitor didn't even get past 1% with no memory usage. The batch comp renders where at least 10x longer. When I switched to ray tracing and tried to put a bevel effect on an extruded 3d text, it moved to a crawl as no cuda cores were apparently used.
I tried to put on the geforce to quadro soft patch. But the device ID of a 680 has no counterpart quadro (10de).
Quick recap for anyone else in my shoes
    1) CX with 2000 failed to bootstap. Probably due to different types of memory (gddr3 and gddr5).
    2) 2 cx's have fatal isues both AE (raytrace) and Pr (in mercury engine with cuda on).
    3) Single CX has fatal issue in AE (raytrace) and didn't bother testing in Pr. I need 4 monitors.
    4) geforce 680 works very well in Pr, but worthless in AE (both ray tracing and classic rendering). Gens took 10x longer.
    5) Currently attempting 4 monitors with 2 quadro 2000s.
So after paying one restocking fee on my returned quadro 2000 the first time around when I tried to get it to work with my existing CX card (fail), I have ordered 2 more quadro 2000's and will try again. I now I will have to pay a restocking fee for the 680.
In sum, 2 monitors is easy, but getting 4 monitors with cuda support at a reasonable price has always been a pita.

  • No Drives Detected

I used DBAN to completely wipe the hard drive in my T20.  Now the machine cannot detect the drive at all.  PC-Doctor returns the message "Warning! No Drive Detected"
Can you help me prepare the drive for re-use in the same T20?
    Thanks.

If my board actually has the eSATA ports (not just solder blanks like those at JTPM), is a regular SATA drive supposed to be detected if plugged in?
    Yes.
    Quote
Assuming that the Promise T3 is enabled in the BIOS, is there any other prerequisite for making the eSATA ports work?  Like, can you use the eSATA ports without using SATA5-6 internally on the mainboard?
    Yes, you can.
I have had some different results depending on the eSATA enclosure I use. Tested with two regular SATA drives, Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 and Hitachi 7K250. Both drives work fine on the internal connectors, both drives work fine in an ICY BOX enclosure connected to eSATA. Trouble started when I bought a second enclosure, Cooler Master X-Craft. The Hitachi drive simply wasn't there anymore, the Seagate was but it would hang during boot where it is scanning for hard drives...

  • HP Pavilion A6528 P Error Code: Bio HD - 3 "No bootable drives detected."

    Hi,
I initially had a Bio HD - 2 error message, the computer would not boot.  So after unplugging and replugging the Sata cables and  running the diagnostic test I concluded that the hard drive may be shot and since I do not have another computer with a sata interface to test the hard drive, I purchased a new HD (Western Digital with the exact same specs) and installed it. After the installation the computer still would not boot ,so I ran the diagnostic again and apparently the HD was recognized and passed but now I have a new error message stating that while testing: boot path,   the error states  Error code: Bio HD - 3  "No bootable drives detected."I searched the board and could not find the definition for this error code.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

    Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any. Then clear the CMOS. Plug your PC back in a give it a go.  You might consider trying to use a different motherboard sata port for your hard drive.
Unplug all external devices other than the mouse, keyboard and monitor.

  • Boot drive detection issue [solved]

    Hi,
I upgraded my Arch install yesterday (pacman -Syu). The last one was four weeks ago. Among the packages updated were the stock kernel 2.6.17 and mkinitcpio, so the update generated another image /boot/kernel26.img.
Now I am having random errors while booting. One out of two (yes, 50%) boots ends with kernel panic while identifying the root fs type after initramfs and modules have been loaded. Something like "Can't find device dev(0,0)".
The apparent reason is that sometimes the boot partition is identified as hda2, sometimes as hde2. Because I have the kernel option root=/dev/hda2, boot is successful when boot partition is identified as hda2, and fails with the above message when it is identified as hde2.
My particular hardware is a Abit Be-6 motherboard (quite old) which has two ide ports and two other ide ports controlled by a Highpoint HPT366 controller (which support DMA 66). My HD is connected to one of those.
I suspect that the drive detection relies on some kind of information sent by the bios and that this information is sometimes sorted in one order, sometimes in another one, i.e. sometimes the ide ports first, sometimes the hpt366 ports first.
For information, the install cd-rom would see my drive as hde (always, not 50%) and until yesterday, the boot process would see it as hda (again, always, not 50%).
So now the questions for you, talented forum participants, are:
1/ I would like to understand how disk and partition letters/numbers are allocated: why hde2 and not hda2? Can I force the naming to hda2, whatever the Bios says (for example based on a HD ID or a IDE port ID)?
2/ I read the mkinitcpio wiki. From what I understand, I can configure what modules will be loaded at boot time for detecting my boot drive, either at image generation time, or at boot time with a kernel parameter. Would blacklisting ide modules and leave only hpt366 module help? Conversely, assuming I plug my HD in an IDE port, would blacklisting hpt366 module help?
    Help will be much appreciated.

The /etc/mkinitcpio.conf file is marked as "backup" in the mkinitcpio package. Therefore, if the default configuration changes, it will be extracted as /etc/mkinitcpio.conf.pacnew and your own configuration won't be touched.

  • Satellite P300-156 - driver detected controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort1

    Hi
I have recently installed a secondary hard drive in my P300-156 and am having some problems with it. I keep getting Event ID 11 in the system event log "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort1." and suffer with very bad performance with this drive.
The drive is new and works fine in other systems and even works ok if I swap drive bays on my P300-156 but the problem with that is the drive does not fit in the other bay as it is quite thick. The drive in question is a Samsung HM100UI 2.5" 1TB Sata. I have also tried other drives in this bay and they work ok too.
I am using windows 7 ultimate and Intel chipset drivers. It's an Intel ICH8M SATA AHCI controller, driver version 7.0.0.1013. Have tried different drivers and AHCI/IDE mode. Also tried a fresh installation and the problem persists.
Am at a loss why this drive is having problems is there anything else someone can suggest to try?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks!! This worked! It seems the Intel INF auto update utility didn't update them to the latest. I had to download the [RST and AHCI Driver and GUI|http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20110&lang=eng] and manually search for new drivers in device manager. Now the drive is noticeably quicker and error free :)
Thanks for all the help guys :)

  • An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR3 during a paging operation. - The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR7

How can i ensure that the harddisk3 designation is relatd with USB etxernal disk?
I have several erros in LOGs:
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR3 during a paging operation.
    and
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR7
All times are HardDisk3 and sometimes it references to DR3 and sometimes DR7
    My disk structure is:
2 RAID5 arrays fomr the same disks (80GB and 2 TB)
and USB 2 TB External hard disk with several partitions
I´m 99% sure that the error is related to the external USB disk and the Dell DIag tool shows no problems with any component

    Hi,
For finding the exact hard disk you could refer to this article. It is an old article but the structure is not changed:
How to Distinguish a Physical Disk Device from an Event Message
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/159865
Meanwhile for the error message "error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR3 during a paging operation", according to my search result it could be related to fragments. So please try a defragment on your hard disk (if it is the USB disk then perform
a defragment on USB disk) and see the result.
