No Episodes in podcast subscription

I am trying to subscribe to 2 podcast, that's what people play and get physical radio, and although in the itunes store there plenty of episodes to when I subscribe no episodes are showing up in my itunes podcast section.  Is there a problem with the podcast?  I have no issues with any other podcast except these two.

I've only tried the "That's What people Play" and as you say, when you subscribe, nothing happens.
Usually, when you subscribe to a Podcast, the latest episode will begin downloading automatically and clicking "Update Podcast" should produce a list in the iTunes Podcast Library of the available episodes. But not in this one.
Anyway, if you go back to the Store's list of the Podcast and click on the Free button for any episode, that episode will begin downloading. For now of course, I have to assume that future episodes will download as they should - automatically. Try it for both programmes.
If the future episodes download correctly, then you may find it easier to simply go with it as it is. But if you feel like pursuing it, then I suggest you contact the Podcast's producers, as they will be the ones to either sort it out for themsleves, or for them to deal with the iTunes Store if required.

  • Podcast subscriptions - viewing individual episodes

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to get the individual episodes of a podcast subscription to show up within the iTunes application?  I've tried the 'Show all available episodes' options by right-clicking on the individual subscription but nothing happens.  It's frustrating, as I can see the number of episodes that are stored, but not their names or any other details about them.  I can't believe that I'm not able to perform something so basic in this application, so I'm assuming there's something I have overlooked.  Any suggestions, please?

For the record, have you expanded the Podcast subscription by clicking on the triangle next to the Podcast name?

  • HT6546 How do you get podcast subscriptions to download on my iMac?

I had several podcast subscriptions automatically downloading daily to iTunes on my iMac. When I installed Maverick they stopped and I can't find a way to get them started again. I looked for help on the iTunes site and all it talks about is in connection with a device and nothing about my computer. It tells me to click on things that do not exist and is totally worthless. I tried to resubscribe in the normal manner and it doesn't work beyond downloading a single episode while I wait. it only downloads at the speed of listening to it. How do I get these podcasts started again?

The very first thing you should have done when you got the new External was to change to Mac compatible to Extended and Journaled then all will be well again. Get out the paperwork that came with the Drive and read it.

  • ITunes "Forgets" Podcast Subscriptions

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) and iTunes has started a disturbing behavior. It forgets podcast subscriptions if there are no episodes in iTunes for it to sync. I listen to several daily podcasts that I delete after listening to them. Since I have upgraded the OS, I have to re-subscribe to these podcasts on my iPod Touch whenever I get a new episode if there were no episodes in iTunes at the time. Am I missing a setting in iTunes or something that is making the iPod Touch forget its podcast subscriptions? Thanks for your help.

I am also having this problem.

  • HELP ! : PODCAST SUBSCRIPTIONS LISTED TWICE AFTER LIBRARY RESTORE

I have restored my entire itunes library onto my new computer.
When I restore my podcast subscriptions by drag and dropping the 'Podcasts' playlist over to the library a number of the subscriptions get listed twice.
How do I get all of the podcast episodes to appear under one subscription in itunes ?
Technically I know the reason why this is happening. It is because the podcast author at some point have changed the URL feed for their podcast. So some episodes come from an old URL location and some from the new location.
When itunes imports the podcasts it groups the old podcasts under one subscription heading and the more recent ones under another heading. However both have the same name hence duplicate podcast subscription titles !
Is there any way of forcing itunes to arrange all the podcast episodes under one subscription heading ?

I have been fighting the same issue for over a year, every time there is a new version released I get hopeful and scour the boards for a new solution, but alas no.

  • Duplicate podcast subscriptions

After moving my iTunes library from computer to computer over the past several years, I've ended with with some podcast subscriptions that show up twice in my podcasts library.
Each subscription contains different episodes, so the actual podcasts aren't duplicated, but the podcast subscription appears twice.
    so for example, I have:
    KCRW's today's top tune
    episode 5/6/10
    episode 4/22/10
    etc.
    KCRW's today's top tune
    12/15/06
    12/14/06
    etc.
is there any way to combine these so I can manage them as a single subscription?

  • ITunes stopps updating podcast subscriptions

    Hello!
I use iTunes for a long time now to subscribe and archive podcasts, even though mostly I listen to them on my iPhone these days.
So far everything worked fine, but a few weeks ago I noticed, that iTunes stopped the automatic update of some podcasts. These subscriptions were marked with a little exclamation mark. When I clicked that I got the following message meaning in English "iTunes stopped the automatic update of this podcast, because you didn't listen to an episode recently. Do you wish to continue automatic update of this podcast?".
Since I normaly listen to podcasts these day on my iPhone and use iTunes mainly to archive some podcasts I like (some of them go back almost 8 years now on my hard drive) it can happen that I don't listen to episodes on my computer for weeks. But I still wish iTunes to update and download the latest episodes of some subscriptions in the background without me having to think about it.
Now since I noticed this behaviour after about two months it caused me some trouble since I missed downloading some episodes that are not anymore in the feeds :-(
Anyway, is there a way to stopp iTunes from doing that? Of course I answered the above question with "Yes" but now a few weeks later I noticed iTunes again stopping to update one of the podcasts.
Maybe this behaviour was added with the best intentions but it is very annoying if it can't be turned off. So far I didn't find an option for that in the settings, is there one in iTunes for that?
    Thanks and greetings!

iTunes will stop updating a podcast subscription if you have more than five episodes downloaded but not listened to, as detailed in this page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23353
    which states:
You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.
There is an AppleScript available which will apparently deal with this (I've not tried it):

  • Recover Podcast Subscriptions

I bought a new computer to replace my old one, and installed iTunes. Now I'm trying to figure out how to recover my podcast subscriptions, including the record of which episodes I've have and haven't listened to. What I'm trying to avoid is having to manually subscribe to them all again, and then manually try to remember which eposides I've already listened to.

All iTunes data (playlists, playcounts, etc) are contained in the iTunesLibrary.itl file.
This file is contained in the iTunes folder.
Restore the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer or the backup of the old computer and iTunes will be exactly as it was.

  • How to Backup Podcast Subscriptions?

How do you backup the iTunes podcast subscriptions (don't want to backup the actual media files, just the subscriptions)?
I want to be able to restore exactly where I left off as well. I don't want to have to re-download all the episodes from the subscription and remove the ones I've already listened to.
Also would like to use the backup feature to synchronize between my home iTunes subscriptions and work.
If the feature is not built into iTunes, is there a file, a folder, a registry key that contains the information?
    iTunes 6.0.2.23 for Windows
    Thank you.
Windows XP Pro   iTunes 6.0.2.23 for Windows

Firstly, I would also like to have a "profile backup" option, or at least let me specify a folder for these files. (like it can be done for the iTunes Music Folder)
    My little workaround:
The files you are looking for reside in your "My Documents" folder in your windows user directory. Look for "My Music" which should contain the iTunes folder. In there are two files:
    iTunes Library.itl (binary - *****)
iTunes Music Library.xml (song file information)
These files are responsible for holding the information on subscriptions.
    I'm a iTunes-only user, no iPod.
What I did to have "my" iTunes from work and from home is this:
*) Use of a USB-HD, where I place my "iTunes Music Folder", to have all files just in one place.
*) Wrote a little script which copies the two mentioned files from my user directory folder to the USB-HD and vice-versa. This script resides on the computer from which I start iTunes, to copy the files to the right directory.
If you just want to have your subscriptions available from multiple places (and no song files), a USB stick might do as well. Even for a few song files too, depending on the size of it.

  • Podcast subscription setting won't work manually

    iTunes 7.2 (windows xp)
I have set podcast subscription setting
to "Manually" check for new eps and "Do Nothing"
    when new eps are found.
However, Podcast subscriptions still attempt to download
    the latest podcast automatically.
Is there a way to make the manual settings work in the manual mode?
thanks in advance for any assistence

    Try from iTunes:
    1. Edit
    2. Podcasts
    3. "Check for new episodes:" - change to Manually
    4. "When new episodes are available:" change to _Do nothing_
Try this if you haven't already. This is all I got, I hope it helps.

  • How do I move my iTunes podcast subscriptions to a new computer?

I have a Dell computer running Windows XP.
I just purchased an Inspiron laptop running Vista and want to move my podcast subscriptions (I have a lot of them) to the new installation of iTunes on the laptop.
I cannot find any instructions on how to do this.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks. - Love my iPhone!

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. On a PC the default location is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
If you have and iPod, some iPods can be used as an external drive and you can use them to move your iTunes (this option isn't available with the iPod Touch): How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • How do I find a downloaded podcast subscription that is not showing up in my library?

I downloaded a podcast subscription and it will not show up in my podcast library in Itunes.  I tried to download it again but it says it is downloaded.  What can I do?

Is the Podcast in iTunes U, which is a separate section within you iTunes Library? If you cannot see iTunes U on the left hand side, under "Library", click on Edit/Preferences/General>iTunes U (tick "on").
Did you actually download this programme "as a Podcast" through the iTunes Store or by subscribing to the Podcast feed in Advanced/Subscribe to Podcast? Or did you get it from the show's website?
Have you checked alternative spellings and even programme titles for the Podcast? (I have one programme, titled "Focus", but which appears under "BBC", who produced it!) Use the Search facilty to check your library.
If all else fails, what is the title of the Podcast, perhaps that may help us find it?

  • Certain episodes of podcasts won't sync while others sync perfectly fine

Recently I have run into a problem where certain episodes of podcasts dont sync while others sync perfectly fine. How can I fix this? The last time one of my video podcasts updated was October 31s, there are about 5 episodes a day. It is the same with several of my podcasts. I have it set to sync all. They are mostly video podcasts, all of my videos are set to sync and I only listen to podcasts from the iTunes store. The episode do not exist anywhere on my iPod, I have looked. The only error message I get is the standard Windows 7 Format Error. I have asked this question before, but someone clicked correct answer so no one who could help is looking at it since they think it is solved.

How do your have your iPod configured to sync podcasts from under your iPod's Podcast configuration tab in iTunes?  If you are unsure of how to locate this tab, click on your iPod from under the list of device in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This should bring you to the Summary tab.  Now locate the Podcast tab along the top.
