No handles on Text box

Adding a text box used to provide handles on all four sides. Now with the free 'upgrade' I only have handles on left and right side. Help system useless.

I was in Pages. Sorry about that fellows. And yes, you're right Jerrold, the Help for Numbers offers information that is incorrect. Even the folks at Apple are a bit confused by the Numbers text box!
Even if incorrect, I like the new Help system. It seems much faster to access than the old system.

Can InDesign handle "hidden" text boxes?

I've been tasked with creating a Userguide Lab Manual with student exercises. The client wants content to be in three layers: 1) basic tasks listed, 2) accessible "hints" to complete tasks, 3) accessible step-by-step explanation to complete tasks. Levels 2 & 3 should be initially "hidden" text boxes that the student can access if needed.
Can InDesign handle this? I realize this is something HTML can handle ... but the client wants a e-PUB document, something portable, in the end.
Can you give me advice? I've looked and looked at many elements of InDesign. Often I see "hidden" elements must be converted to an image (button?); elements of Interactivity usually means video or animation... but I want editable text. In theory, we want to be able to develop ONE master, and then reveal (show) different layers ... and i the end publish three levels of Userguide Lab Manual.
Is this possible?

@Pinenuthunter – did you consider iBooks Author app (Mac OSX 10.7 and above) for this task and publishing in ibooks file format to the iBooks app on iPads or to iBooks app in OSX 10.9 (Mavericks)?

Problem with Illustrator 10, no handles on rectangles or text boxes.

I wish I had newer version, but I don't. That being said, I now have no handles to scale with on rectangles or text boxes. I have been working with Illustrator for ten years and have never seen this. How do i control 2 text boxes with 1 scroll bar? (CS4)

I want to control 2 Dynamic Text boxs with the 1 scroll bar component? I want them to scroll simultaneously with the user only needing to use the one component. Thank you in advance for your help

The textfields should have the same number of lines. You can have the scrollbar (sb) assigned to one textfield (t1) and then have an event listener/handler for the scrollbar adjust the other textfield's (t2) scrollV property to match the first one's scrollV property:

Can't disable a hyperlink in a text box

Hi
I'm having trouble with Pages '06 and how it handles text that looks like a URL. I'm putting together an ad that has a text box with some text like www.domain.com. I've selected the text and de-selected the 'Enable as Hyperlink' option as I don't want the link line to appear under the text in the printed page.
My problem is that the change doesn't 'stick'. When I de-select the option, the text colour changes to black and the link line disapears. As soon as I click out of the text box, it reverts back to a hyperlink complete with blue colour and underlining.
If I place text directly onto the page - not in a text box - it works as expected.
I've tried this in Pages '05 and it works as expected. I've deleted the prefs files... any suggestions?

The setting is now in the 'Auto correction' pane... and yes - it solves the problem! Thanks for that!!! Now I can manually set the link detection. Looks like someone got the 'AutoDetection' routines a bit messed up...

create input field for DATE and TIME on screen.ex. DATE1 and TIME1 are screen field names .

Define one variable in the TOP include with type STRING means Global variable.

For this case.. Create one table control. you can select one record and create record in the Z table by pressing button on Application toolbar..

How can I specify what type of text people can enter in a text box, on a fillable form?

I have an end user that wants to make it so that others who type text in a fillable form can only enter a specific email domain (example: [email protected]). This would be for only one text box in the form. Is this even at all possible, and if so, any guidance on how to make this happen? Thanks!

I suppose we could do it that way, but I wouldn't know how to advise the user to do this. (I am not an Acrobat user, I just handle installations and basic support). Could you walk me through it?

Multi Selection from a List Box to a Text Box

So I want to be able to make Multi Selections within List box and export it to the Text box. Right now I have a Script running on the cal of the Text Box
event.value = getField("LISTBOX").valueAsString;
Which is able to do one selection but I cant find anybody that can grab two selecitons and put into a text box with commas for something. Is there a way to do this?

Wow over my head a little. I understand what an array is with script but not how to write the script to handle it. I made this:

Looking for a good method or APP to have client sign a form in a text box

I am looking for a good method or App to take an existing form/Document and have a client sign, date etc. I will want to create the text boxes in a stationary location. Possibly to also take a picture to add to form.
Has anyone used any apps to accomplish this?

Sign Easy is about the best except the signatures (text boxes, dates, etc) are free floating and confuse people where to add them on form each time. Clients have no clue how to use it.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I may be over complicating this also, as there could just be a PDF app that I utilize.

Are you talking about a text editor? IF so, what is the validation that you want to perform. Do you want to check to make sure that the user has entered something in the text editor?
If so, then just get the text from the text editor into an internal table, and check that internal table to make sure that something is in it.

I used to be able to get text from a Word doc (copy it), and then go into my CS4 InDesign file and paste it into a waiting box that had a paragraph style assigned to it and boom, it would take on the assigned paragraph style of that text box. Now it brings in the style from wherever the text came from. If the font looks similar to what was there it can be too hard to tell that it's different. When you are working on a book with 200 pages and copying text from Word docs and dropping it in here and there in InDesign, it causes alot of extra work and problems.
In fact I have lost alot of security functions I used to have in CS4 in CC2014 in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat and it is making me want to go back to CS4 in a hurry.

I actually FINALLY found the answer!!!! In the preferences area you choose Clipboard Handling and then you choose "Text Only" under When Pasting Text and Tables from Other Applications (see photo).

Dynamic character count info as text box resizes

Not knowing Javascript, does anyone think this is scriptable?
When clicked inside a text box the info panel tells you how many characters are in view in that text box and how many are overset... it doesn't however display that info if you are resizing a text box by dragging one of the handles... do you think there may be a way of getting it or having onother info panel that displays how many character are inside the text box and how many are overset and it dynamically changes the read out as the user resizes the text box.

I don't think Javascript can do stuff "dynamically" -- you'd have to press a button to get the updated values. This sort of things is possible with InDesign, but it'd require writing a full plugin. Writing plugins is not for the meek, the faint-hearted, or the kind of people that enjoy their sanity.
(OTOH I've been wrong a few times: APID, Rorohiko's script extensions -- http://www.rorohiko.com/ -- can perform a few tricks that used to be plugin-only. Check their website to see if there is something that sounds like your request.)

Improving the handling of multiple line text fields is in our plans, but for now, you will have to add manual carriage returns (Enter).

Turn off linking text boxes in Pages

I find the linking text boxes annoying because I'm always fighting trying to STRETCH a box and Pages wants to add a linking floating text box.
Does anyone know how to turn off this feature completely, so it never comes back on unless I want it to?
For a while it was OFF, and then all of a sudden I'm back fighting the linking text box feature when trying to move my text box where I want it.

No, I don't believe that you can disable Text Box Linking. Just keep your mouse pointer away from the Link Handles.
