No Internet Access with Static IP and RVS 4000

I have an RVS 4000.  I have several PC's to which I have assigned static IP addresses.  I have recently upgraded most of the PC's to Win 7 (64) machines.  I updated the firmware on the RVS4000 to 1.3.3.5 in conjunction with this.  After such update (and actually before as well) I could not assign a static IP address to a PC and have access to the internet.  It connects fine to my LAN, just no internet access.  This is also affected on several other machines running Win XP and Win 2003 Server, so it's not just this computer.
I have:
     1.  Shut down (powered off/unplugged) everything, router, DSL modem, switches, server, etc.
     2.  As I said firmware is current.
     3.  Yes, DNS servers and gateway, subnet, etc. are all correctly specified on the PC.
     4.  Router is set for gateway mode.
     5.  Set to only IPV4.
The only way it allows internet access is to use DHCP.  I've even tried taking the IP address via DHCP and manually assigning the DNS servers and that works fine, but as soon as I assign a static IP internet access is immediately gone.
There must be something I'm missing, but I can't seem to find it.
Everything worked fine prior to the conversion of the Win 7 machines, i.e. I had several PC's with static IP's and no problems.
Any thoughts appreciated.

As an addendum, if I turn off the Firewall (internet access policy to disable) it will allow the static IP computer to have internet access.  I have the DHCP range set to be .5 - .54 and am using a static ip outside this range.  The Internet access policy is to restrict those PC's getting IP via DHCP.

  • Can't get internet access with WRT54G router

    I recently purchased a used WRT54G. I replaced my old wired linksys router with it and my hosts are able to get dhcp addresses from the router, but they cannot access the Internet. I have tried to use dchp release and renew buttons under the status tab in the router's web-based gui to get a public IP address, but can't get one. I have attempted to reset the router to its factory settings, but I still can't get the public IP. I have no problem getting an IP and Internet access with my old router and the WRT54G works if I disable its dchp and daisy chain it to the old one. Maybe I need to do something else for a complete reset of the router. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jack

    the router that you just purchased was maybe configured for a different network before that's why it did not work initially. after making the router back to its' factory defaults, you should reconfigure or set-up the router.. If you have CABLE ISP, enable ''mac address clone'' on the router's set-up page under the set-up tab. then check if you can get a public ip address after that.

    Hi
    I am experiencing wireless connection problem on 4s after ios 8.1 upgrade. The wireless icon appears showing that it's connected but webpages do not load. I have checked my internet connection with other devices and seems to be alright. what to do?
    I have tried reseting the network settings and forgetting my wireless connection and re-connecting to it. I even backed up my phone on itunes and restored it, factory reseted it. Nothing seems to work.
    Also after my upgrade to ios 8.1 my personal hotspot option under cellular data has disappeared.
    Would you please help me out? I would really appreciate it.

    Hi..
    Restart your router then restart the iPhone to test.

  • Set Up Airport Extreme with Static IPs and DHCP same time

    I have Verizon Fios to my Business with 5 Static IP Address. One of them must be assigned to the Airport Extreme Base Station. I have 5 iMacs needing internet connection of which 2 need to use a static ip,( Filemaker Server and my Mac OS X Web Server). I also use 2 iPhones with a custom App accessing that FileMaker Server via the internet too. I want to set up my Airport Extreme Base Station to have those 2 iMacs connected with static ips , which must NEVER CHANGE, via an ethernet cable and all the rest wireless with WiFi. Do to the size of my building I also want another Airport Extreme or Express to just expand the range from the Base Station for the wireless connections only. Looking at the Airport Internet Settings I only see 3 options for Connection Sharing, "Share A Public IP Address", "Distribute a range of IP addresses", "Off (Bridge Mode)". I'm thinking I need to give 1 IP Address to the Base Station, 2 ip addresses to my servers, then 1 ip address to share for my wireless DHCP connections. The additional Airport set to Off(Bridge Mode) to expand the base station. Please advise on how I would set up that base station to do this.

    With respect to expanding the base stations range, in the Base stations Wireless Settings I would click to select "Allow this network to be extendeded". Then what settings would I need in the Additional Airport?
    Note: Both AirPorts would have to be 802.11n models in order for this to work. The additional AirPort would need to be configured to extend the Extreme. (ref: AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless > Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network)
    Would that NEED to be connected to the base station via ethernet cable or will it pick up the base station wirelessly?
    Using the "extend" feature is intended to expand the wireless range of an AirPort with another wirelessly. You would not need to connect them by Ethernet. In this configuration, the additional AirPort would be in bridge mode and will pass through the IP information from the other base station's DHCP service.

  • Kernel panic / Internet access with a bad AirPort card

    My iBook G4 started suffering kernel panics just over a week ago. They have rapidly increased in frequency to the extent that it can take several attempts to boot up because they have started occurring during the boot up process (originally they occurred after the iBook had been on for a while).
    I've looked through the forum and have seen that there seem to be some common causes -RAM, AirPort card, or something to do with the HD. I ran disk utility on the HD and it didn't find any problems and I also successfully ran the 'repair disk permissions'. I have tried taking out the RAM -that didn't do anything. The kernel panic does frequently occur when I am either using Mail or Safari, but as I've said, it also occurs when I'm booting up -does the fact that it happens when I boot up mean that it cannot be the AirPort card (which incidentally is not under the keyboard -so it must be inside)?
    Earlier today I switched off AirPort and was able to work on the computer for almost three hours without any kernel panic (but also without internet access). Less than a minute after switching it back on, it froze again.
    If this does mean that the problem is with the AirPort card, I have a question about internet access. I use the iBook on a wireless network that stems from a modem with a Mac downstairs and I do not have any internet cables, or a phone line, in the room where the iBook is used. Is it possible to use something like AirPort Express even with a bad AirPort card? And does AirPort Express connect to the iBook, or to the main modem downstairs?
    Apologies for so many questions and many thanks for any help you are able to give -this has been driving me around the bend for the past week?

    Update:
    An acquaintance who works for Apple suggested that before assuming that the problem was the AirPort card / buying further equipment, I should boot up with the original installation disk in and use the disk utility function to 'repair disk'. I did that and got a 'Volume Header needs minor repair' message. It repaired that & I restarted the iBook. I was able to do an update back-up to my external hard drive & all was fine until I switched AirPort back on -there was an instant kernel panic.
    I figured that it couldn't hurt to run the Apple Hardware Test -did that and restarted again. Was able to open Mail (AirPort was on) but then the AirPort connection disappeared and the pointer froze, but there was no kernel panic screen. I had to force quit -restarted again. This time I was able to use Mail, downloaded a song on iTunes, and was on the internet for about 45mins before the connection disappeared and the pointer froze again. I could force quit the app but with a frozen pointer I ended up having to force quit again.
    I waited a while and then booted up again (without problem) but this time I was told that there was no Airport card present! Shut down and reran the Hardware Test (which said that AirPort 'Passed'). When I restarted AirPort was briefly there but disappeared when I opened AirPort Utility and at this point the pointer also froze. I did force quit to get out of the app and then there was a kernel panic. Is this now pretty conclusive that the AirPort card is the problem?
    I would appreciate any feedback -I've had a very frustrating week with this.
    Thanks.

    Prior to upgrading to IOS5 I was able to tether my Windows box to my iPhone 3GS.  Now with the upgrade I'm not able to connect using the new Personal Hotspot method that was introduced.  I can connect the phone, and actually see a network show up in my network connections but I get no internet access through it.  I can ping the Gateway that the network gets but that's it.  Can't ping the DNS server or anything else.  Any ideas here would be very appreciated.

  • Extending DPS reader with static libraries and frameworks

    Is there any initiative within Adobe's roadmap to enable extending DPS reader within Xcode by use of static libraries and frameworks?
    Core functionality of the reader could be linked and distributed as binary assembly via static libraries.
    Shared resources of the DPS reader could be packaged wtihin a framework.
    Beyond extending capabilities of the reader, this would also enable advanced debugging and running on devices directly from Xcode.

  • No internet access with iMac

    I have an Intel iMac. I have cable internet through Comcast. About a week ago I started getting "server not found" messages while loading pages, but if I clicked refresh the page would load. This occurred with Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Then two days I couldn't load any pages, use Google earth, download software updates, etc. I called Apple and they said it was a comcast problem, but they came out today and hooked up a laptop and got an internet connection and later I hooked up my old pc and got an internet connection, which I'm using now. So the modem's working fine. The firewall is off. The comcast tech guys said they'd never seen anything like it and tried all the network preference settings. Something is not allowing the iMac to communicate through the modem to receive data off the internet. They said there's some kind of issue with assigning the right IP addresses.
    Has anyone experienced or heard of anything like this and know of a fix?
    Greg

    I tried restarting everything (turned everything off and unplugged all cords from outlets) and it still doesn't connect, but oddly I get different results from network diagnostics and network status. In diagnostics I get:
    Built in Ethernet -- green
    Network settings -- green
    ISP -- green
    Internet -- red
    Server -- red
    And the message: Cannot find server. This computer appears to have a working internet connection, but cannot find apple.com. You may have typed the address incorrectly.
    Network status reads: Built in ethernet is currently active and has the IP address xx.xxx.xxx.xx (note, I did get numbers but didn't want to publish them in case that's a security risk). You are connected to the internet via Built in Ethernet.
    So, it appears the ethernet port is working fine, but something else is lost in translation between the modem and the ethernet card.

  • Has anyone deployed converged access with 3850 switches and 5760 WLCs?

    Has anyone deployed a converged access network architecture with 3850 switches and 5760 WLCs? I have done lots of projects with the 5508 WLCs In a centralized deployment. Basically with this design, I manage 2 logical networks as the wireless network is an overlay over the wired network. I can design firewall to segregate traffic between the wired and wireless hence I can carry both staff and guest traffic.
    Now Cisco is telling us that there is new design such that the dats plane traffic can be dropped locally through the 3850 switched. I am not sold on this and have not found any recommended best practices on when should we use a converged access architecture.
    Pros
    With converged access, data traffic is terminated at the MA which is on the switches, hence the WLC will not be a bottleneck? This is to prepare adoption for 802.11ac?
    Less hops for voice calls from user A to user B as data control traffic is dropped locally.
    Cons
    Now how do I segregate guest and staff traffic if my security folks say I need a firewall?
    Troubleshooting wireless client mobility will be a nightmare as the 3850 switches are MA.
    Pushing and upgrading code for the Code will mean upgrading the stack of switches in the LAN riser. This will be painful in a huge campus environment like an university.
    Can someone convince me why would a customer choose converged access?
    Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

    They choose CA because of the capwap termination at the switch. You can still use a 5508 and tunnel guest to a DMZ segment if you wish. You will need a 5508 though is you want to tunnel traffic to an anchor WLC.

  • Software for controlling internet access with Airport Exreme

    I'd like to find software that let's me control what pc's in the house have internet access at certain times. My iMac is my main computer, and I use Airport Extreme as my router.

    You probably need to set the card up in OSX. Verizon should have a modem script that needs to be installed. (Hard Drive>Library>Modem Scripts). Then you need to set up the card from Network Preferences. Then it should work on both platforms.

  • Compressing (mpeg4?) a movie with static images and fades. Best settings?

    Hey there,
    I'm using compressor with Final Cut HD and a Powermacg5.
    I have a movie made mostly of static images (experimental piece with landscapes) and fades between them.
    Firstly, does anyone have any great tips for compressing a quicktime movie for the web (so probably mpeg 4) that works well with images that are mostly still? The mpeg4 setting with h264 are okay (ntsc image size, 30fps), but every so often there's sudden blocky-ness when there is a little bit of motion in the frame. Any ideas?
    Secondly, the images go really chunky when there is a slow dissolve between the images, any compression ideas there?
    I'll be experimenting myself but I thought it best to ask you guys first ... any tips?
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi everyone
    Is it possible to compress a movie ( 83 minutes long
    ) for a Single DVD without any pixellations ?
    If so I need to know what is the best settings...
    I keep compressing with a bit rate about 6 and my dvd
    still looks bad (pixels on transitions and sometimes
    pauses).
    I don't know what I could have done wrong !!!
    I don't want to use double layer and I can't split my
    movie into 2 dvds.
    Can someone walk me through this step by step ?
    Many thanks
    I think it should be, the setting I always use are:
    Vide: 7.4Mbps, One pass, Motion Estimation: Best
    Audio:Dolby 2.0 Datarate 256 kbps.
    I have tried a lot of combos but this is the only settings I can get with no pixellations. I'm always happy with the result and its fast! You might need to knock back the data rate to make 83 mins fit.

  • Sharing an internet connection with Airport express and Time Capsule

    Hi, I have been happily using a cable modem and a Time Capsule for my internet connection and wireless network. We recently added solar panels to our roof and the system needs to be connected to the internet so it can be monitored remotely. Calling Comcast is an exercise in frustration, and the solar people don't seem to know exactly how to do it, so I'm trying this.
    We bought an Airport Express, thinking if it is connected with an ethernet cable to the solar system, it could somehow share the internet connection with the Time Capsule, or they could talk to each other. When I plug in the Airport Express, the only set-up option seems to be to set up a new network, which I don't think I want to do. Can anyone tell me how to set this up? Thank you!

    Hi, Under Water.
    You should configure the Express to "Join a wireless network" or to "Extend a wireless network". (Either one will work.)
    Connect your computer to your Express via Ethernet and open AirPort Utility. Press "Manual Setup" and authenticate if necessary.
    Go to the "Base Station" tab. Give the Express a name and password.
    Go to the "Wireless" tab. Set the Wireless mode to "Join a wireless network" or "Extend a wireless network." Enter the name of the wireless network created by your Time Capsule (or select it from the list). Check the box that says "Allow Ethernet clients" (if you're joining) or "Allow Wireless Clients" (if you're extending).
    Provide the appropriate security mode and password for the Time Capsule's network.
    Press "Update" and allow your Express to restart.
    Then you can plug the solar system into the Express's Ethernet port.

  • Need to output data to TXT with static header and footer but multiple rows

    Using APEX 4.0 and 11g - The only way I could find to get data out of APEX in TXT format was to use htp.prn. I load a cursor with the data and this works fine, the problem is that I need to have the file start with a string (*:P9_HEADER_STRING*) but it can only appear once in the output.
    Is there a way to add the *:P9_HEADER_STRING* to the output in a single TXT file? or is there another way I should be doing this?
    This is what I have now: The *:P9_HEADER_STRING* is in the loop which I know it can't be, but I can't figure out how to concatenate this string to the output from the loop. The rank() is being used because I can only send the selected number of records, ranked from highest. (I will have to do the same thing with a footer too, but that variable isn't in here yet)
    begin
    -- Set the MIME type
    owa_util.mime_header( 'application/octet', FALSE );
    -- Set the name of the file
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="cra_outgoing.txt"');
    -- Close the HTTP Header
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    -- Loop through all rows in CLIENT_TABLE

    , rank() over (order by tot_amt desc, rownum asc) rn
    from client_table c where c.File_Seq_Nbr is NULL and c.xref_nbr in (select xref_nbr from ticket_table where to_char(ticket_issue_date, 'YYYY-MM-DD') between :P7_START_DATE and :P7_END_DATE))
    where rn <= :P7_NUMBER_RECORDS)
    loop
    -- Print out a portion of a row,
    -- separated by commas and ended by a CR
    htp.prn( *:P9_HEADER_STRING* || '03' || lpad(X.XREF_NBR, 12) || lpad(x.TOT_FINE_AMT, 11, '0') || '0201'|| lpad(x.NAME, 30) || lpad(x.SPOUSE_INFO, 60) || '00000000000000000000'|| x.DATE_OF_BIRTH || '0000000000000000' || x.GENDER || x.MARITAL_STATUS || lpad(x.EMPLOYER_INFO, 60) || lpad(x.CO_ADDRESS, 102) || lpad(x.ADDRESS1, 30) || lpad(x.POSTAL_CODE, 9) || lpad(x.FILLER, 21) );
    end loop;
    -- Send an error code so that the
    -- rest of the HTML does not render
    htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    end;

    Yes, I've already done that, hence this part of the code I pasted above:
    begin
    -- Set the MIME type
    owa_util.mime_header( 'application/octet', FALSE );
    -- Set the name of the file
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="cra_outgoing.txt"');
    -- Close the HTTP Header
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    -- Loop through all rows in CLIENT_TABLE
    -- Send an error code so that the
    -- rest of the HTML does not render
    htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    end;
    I've solved my problem by loading the cursor data into a variable (inside the loop) and concatenating the header info to it (outside the loop). This works when there are only a few records but as soon as I get to 32767 bytes it's throwing an error because of the size. So that's a different issue altogether.
