No Internet with Multiple Access Restrictions

Hi,
I have a WRT54Gv5 and have setup the following Access Restrictions for an Ipod Touch.  Having a single AR works fine but adding another kills internet for that user.  I am using the MAC filter for that user.
M-F: 6am-7:30am, allow Internet but block MSN.com, live.com and facebook.com
M-Th: 2:45pm-7:30pm, allow all
F-Sa: 6am-8:30pm, allow all
Su: 6am-7:30pm, allow all
I was thinking of using block instead of allow but that would make a lot of block windows (or maybe that is the only solution).
Thanks

Make sure that your router is running on latest firmware.
If not then try to upgrade/re-flash the firmware on your router.
Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router and upgrade the firmware. After upgrading the firmware on your router, reset the router and reconfigure it.

  • WRT54GS V6 multiple access restrictions

I have setup access restrictions for my kids machine but can only get 1 profile to work.
I would like to have access for then between 6pm and 10pm Monday - Friday and 24 Hrs Saturday & Sunday.
In the profile I have created (that works) is the IP address for my kids machine as well as the MAC address.
    Can someone help please.
I can only find help on single policies.
    Thanks

Oh, I didn't seem to get it right. You were asking why you can't enable 2 policies at the same time right? (e.g. policy 1 & 2 is selected)
Well, here's the thing, the router will be the one to enable the policy on that specific date. For example, policy 1 is for weekdays and policy 2 is for weekends. Just double-check that the router's time is the same with the pc. The router will be the one to disable policy 1 and enable policy 2 on weekend. When on weekdays it will then disable policy 2 and enable policy 1.
    Hope this clears things up!

  • Remote access the airport extreme usb hard drive over the internet with multiple users?

I just purchase the new airport extreme 802.11n and set it up on my LAN behind a comcast modem with broadband.  I plugged a 3 tb Seagate hard drive formatted with fat32 (default) to it and have set it up for access for all of my computers, ipad, iphone, android in my house.  Everything works as expected, internet access, file access to the USB HD on all devices locally through back to my mac.  I would now like to allow my daughters in another state to access this drive through the Airport Extreme remotely from their location and have there own accounts on this hard drive to store and move their files for on the go access.  I have studied many of the forums and have enabled share disks over WAN, Enable file sharing but no body really gives an exact method of connecting remotely.  I had one of my daughters try on her Macbook Pro laptop through the finder, connect to server, by giving her the IP address.  She could see the name of the Airport Extreme but could not access the hard disk and got a "Not able to connect message".  I am obviously missing something simple that needs to be checked or setup but have drained my brain trying to figure it out.  Most of the forums describe clicking manuel setup on the Airport utility, but with version 6.1 this is now where to be found.  I have a DYN account but could not figure out where to input this in the Airport utility.
There is a network option which has DHCP lease and range and a box for Enable NAT port Mapping Protocal with Enable default host at:
I am guessing that this is for some other purpose though.  Please help

Try installing AirPort Utility 5, then you may be able to follow the guides you mentioned earlier:

  • How do I connect to internet with vz access manager for iphone 4S?

I have VZ Access Manager on my laptop and want to use it to connect to internet on my new iphone 4S.  How do I do this?

If you can set up an Ad Hoc wireless network from your laptop, you could use it that way. Once again VZ Access Manager will not enter into the sharing part.
Plug these search terms into Google:
set up an ad hoc network
    You'll find lots of instructions.
    Best of luck.

  • E3000 Access restrictions question

    Hi All,
I have access restrictions set up for certain wireless devices in my home that the kids use to kick them off at 11 pm and keep them off all night. where I am running into a problem is I want to block these same devices from downloading anything without my permission  my son downloads everything he sees, Comcat has already threatened to kick us off their service if we go over 250 gb bandwidth use  in a  month again. so I want to configure something in the router that will block all downloads for specific wireless devices. with the access restrictions I have set up I used the mac address not just the ip so they have no way around it I constantly monitor what is connected. I am using the stock firmware as well
any assistance that could be offered for this issue will be greatly appreciated

Internet Access Policy – This feature allows you to set restrictions on a more specific way. You can create up to 10 access policies which restrict access according to MAC addresses, IP addresses, or ports. To know more about setting up Internet access policies,
You can block the website even through certain time. But you cannot block the download from the Internet.

  • New Xperia Z1 wifi problem 14.4.A.0.108 (Multiple access points)

    Hi,
I recently got a replacement Xperia Z1. This phone was immediately updated to the latest firmware (ending with 108) so I do not know if this problem existed prior to the update.
My problem is that the phone thinks it's still coneected to a wireless network even when it's not which prevents the phone from reconnecting when in range of a new network.
When it's working it looks like this: (same signal strenght in both the top bar and the settings)
When it's not working it looks like this (sifferent signal strenghts when compring the settings and the top bar)
And I'm 15km away from my home network
To make it work again I only have to turn off wifi and then turn it on again.
This screen shows for about 10 seconds when the problem has occured (instead of usually 1-2 seconds)
I've already tried to reset and reinstall the firmware.  Is this an hardware error or has this something to do with the latest update?
    //Mikael

    An Update:
I've found that this problem only occurs on networks with multiple Access Points and when the phone is switching from on AP to another.
If the problem occurs the network stays "connected" even though I leave the area as described in my first post.
    Does this help?
    I've tested on several networks.

  • Multiple access or multiple statement

In our scenario we have multiple records coming from SAP and we have to INSERT into Database.
We have modeled a XML-SQL jdbc document format in the target data type. There is one issue that we need to clarify here. This would be regarding the occurence of the the STATEMENT node vis-a-vis the ACCESS node. Two options which we have are:
    1)  Make the Statement unbounded and access as occurrence 1. Generate a new statement for each record and map the access for each record.
    2)  Make the Statement as 1..1, and make the ACCESS as 1..unbounded. The next step would be to generate the ACCESS node as many times as the number of records to be inserted.
Is there a difference here? or is there an advanatage or disavantage among the above two options.

What is the difference between having the STATEMENT tab as unbounded or the access being unbounded.
If you have only one table with one insert statement, then there is no need to create Statement and access node as unbounded. Its occurrence could be one. If there are multiple tables to be used, you should make occurrence of Statement as unbounded. Similarly in case of multiple insert on same table, you will have to create access node as unbounded.
Would there be muliple database queries triggered on the database in case the STATEMENT is set to unbounded?
    Yes.
Would a case with muliple ACCESS tags and one STATEMENT tag generate just one SQL statement.
Both will generate multiple SQL statements. Statement will create altogether a new transaction.
The problem with multiple access could be that either all insertion would be committed or all would be rolled back. And the problem with multiple Statement would be that each insert will act as a separate transaction which surely hampers performance.

  • WRT54GS Internet Access Restriction Policies

I am finding it challenging to correctly define Internet Access Restriction
policies on my Linksys WRT54GSv4 wireless router. Documentation does not
describe multiple policies being enabled.  I think that multiple policies
should be from most restrictive to least, but I am not sure.
I wish to deny Internet access from my child's WII and PSP from 10:30 PM to
6:30 AM.  Also, I want to filter all hosts for blocked words and blocked
    sites.
    Currently, I have three policies:
    1) Child_Evening --
    WII and PSP MAC Filter
    10:30 PM to 11:55 PM
    Deny
    2) Child_Night --
    WII and PSP MAC Filter
    12:00 AM to 6:30 AM
    Deny
    3) SiteWord --
    IP Range 192.168.1.2 - 254
    Block Various Sites
    Block Various Words
I would like input as to the correct use of multiple Internet Access
    Restriction policies

create an Internet Access Policy:1. Internet access Policy - 1
    2. Enable.
    3. Child Access(Name of the policy)
    4. Deny range 192.169.1.252
    5. 10:30 PM to 11:55 PM - Everyday
    6. Blocked Services - All
    7. Port Range Start - 1  ;  End - 61000
    8.Save Settings
    9.Rebooting....
You deny all access through by all services to any sites.
Create the same policy with different number and name to deny access  from 12:00 AM to 6:300 AM..
Url Filtering Policy to deny adult sites, they're too much with different url address. You can deny most of them, but not all.
    Good Luck!!!!!

  • WRT160Nv3 problem with blocking traffic using Access Restrictions

    Hi.
I want something quite simple. Block Youtube. I go into "Access Restrictions", choose a name for policy 1, enable it, choose the pc from the pc list, but then...
if a click Deny, all other options will be disabled (greyed out, can't click nor write on them).
Therefore, I can't put the urls I want (youtube).
I tried writing the url with "allow" and then change it to "deny" but it will block ALL traffic.
    No good.
So, how do I make a new policy just to block this one URL?
Is it normal that when I click and choose "Deny" everything gets disabled afterwards?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Leo
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

for internet access policy DENY means to restrict internet access during specified days and hours. this will block ALL internet traffic for the said schedule. website blocking by URL, blocking by means of keyword and blocking applications would then be NOT AVAILABLE as the computers would not have internet access to begin with if you have such a policy disabled.
for your case, you may want to try to set restriction to ALLOW internet access then specify youtube.com under Website Blocking by URL. this would allow computers to have access to the internet all the time (if you have the schedule set to EVERYDAY) or during specific days and hours but NOT have access to youtube.

  • Problem with access restriction

I have about 50 to 80 users under my internet connection and i used the router 2500 and make there repeater of the single connection but i want to restrict many of the user on interner and some on timely but is not possible with this version of product, what can i do house, or what software do you suggest for me to use with this to restrict the internet access on this network.
Again, i try to use switch sf100-24 becos of the numbers of the cable to use that is more than 4 as we have only 4 port on the router for ethernet but if i connect it after few second it will make all the connection saying 'unidentify network' and it will not function again what can i do to solve this problem too please!!! help me house

Hi, you might perhaps consider getting a gigabit switch in order for those devices to be able to work with access restriction.

  • Access Restrictions still not working with latest firmware

    Linksys WRT54GS V5 with firmware v1.52.2
I cannot believe what a frustrating experience this is. All I want to do is block facebook.com from my two high schoolers until they’ve done their homework.
Starting out, it simply did NOT work, and I discovered from this forum that the initial firmware did not work for this feature. So here is what I did:
    - Downloaded v1.52.2 firmware, which is indicated as being the latest for this router
    - Upgraded the router, per the instructions with this firmware.
    - Pressed (and held)the reset button for the indicated 30 seconds
At this point, my router switched back to the default access point name and access password. Fortunately, I had backed up my configuration, so I then:
    - Loaded my previous configuration that included my Wireless security settings, different AP name, etc...
    - Powered down, then back up router, cable modem.
Router now works wireless as before, but Access Restrictions still does not restrict. Router does list the correct firmware on the admin screens.
Here is how I sent up my one (and only policy)
    Internet Access Policy: 1(facebook)
    Status: Enable
    Enter policy name: facebook
    PCs: Allow checked
    Days: Everyday checked
    Times: 24 hours checked
    Blocked Services: NONE
    Wewbsite Blocking by URL Addresses:
    3 entered, they are:
    http://www.facebook.com
    http://static.ak.facebook.com
    http://apps.facebook.com
Website blocking by keyword: All 6 boxes empty
This was easier to do on my old netgear router, and it also actually WORKED. ARGHHHHHH

Thanks, but that did not work either. It seems to me that, entering mac addresses ended up totally taking away all internet access for the computers on the MAC list. This is really pathetic that a concept that on the surface seems so simple, as in 'deny access to hostname xxx.com' can be so difficult to implement. If there wasn't the suggestion that this were a feature of the router, I wouldn't care. But it *is* supposedly a feature, and the feature simply does not work.
It seem to me that LinkSys has too many mutually exclusive options on a single page. It would be easier to grok if the hostname filter had it's own page, then you wouldn't be wondering what the 'deny/allow' check box did or did not do in conjunction with your selections.
Does the feature work or not? As I mentioned, this was childishly easy to accomplish on my Netgear router. If it didn't suck so bad in other areas of performance, I'd simply go back to it.

  • Access Restriction - Internet Connection Policy (between two times)

I want to say something about the Access Restriction.
I set the policy for allow internet connection for one of my LAN PC's. For example, I set the policy to ALLOW internet connection EVERY DAY  from 8:00PM to 10:00PM. Starting with 10M internet connection stops. BUT, after a few minutes I do a power circle (turn OFF and turn ON the router) and I have internet connection again. For me, allowing internet connection from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM means  to have internet connection ONLY BETWEEN THIS HOURS, not before and not after.
In my opinion, this is the same situation with two DENY policies for internet connection, one from 12:00 AM to 8:00 PM and other from 10:00 PM to 11:55 PM (for the same PC, of course).
Why POWER CIRCLE broken this policies ?
ps - sorry for my English.

    @sunwatcher,
If I set a policy for my little boy PCs ... for allowing internet connection from 4:00PM to 6:00PM (for example) ... after 6:00 PM internet connection stops and he turn OFF and turn ON the router (power circle)  and after that he have internet connection, from then for a long time ...
I am from Romania, and I set time zone on GMT +2 (Bucharest time zone)
I insist with this problem because I want for him to use internet only between two times. Outside this time frame I want him to do their homework.

  • Internet down 11:55 pm to midnight due to access restriction policies

I have some policies to restrist access to certain websites during working hours.
This is for a WRT160N though I am not sure that makes much difference as others I have checked have the same issues.
I have 3 rules, one allowing 12 am to 8 am, one restricting 8 am to 6 pm and a third one allowing from 6 pm to 11:55.
Of course the third rule really should go all the way to midnight but this is not allowed by the interface.
So, every night I am working along and then I lose all internet completely for 5 minutes. It is very disruptive as I do a lot of work at this time and much of it is done remotely.
Any thoughts, tips or advice? Are there any linsys products that don't so this.
    Thanks

Here's what I have in mind when it comes to Access Restriction on old routers. I'm not quite sure if this one applies to newer ones like yours. But all I know is, if you don't set up a rule, everything is allowed.
When you set "Allow" to a computer or certain sites, let's say 12am-8am, it will provide access from 12am-8am only. Beyond that time, it will automatically switch to Deny. Same goes with Deny. If you set Deny to a computer or certain sites, let's say 8am-6pm, it will not provide access within the time frame only but beyond that time, it will provide access.
I'm saying that you really don't need too many access restriction. My suggestion is, just set one rule to Deny access to all computers or websites 8am-6pm. So starting 6:01pm to 7:59am, access is allowed without actually setting up an "Allow" rule.
Actually I have an opposite situation. I have 3 computers at home. I want the kids to go to sleep at 8pm. And so, I setup a rule to Deny access 8pm-1155pm and another rule to Deny access 12am-6am. So there's a 5min time Allowed access. But I don't bother, they are already sleeping.
With an old router like mine, it's kinda easy. When you set the router to Allow access, you can only create a Deny rule. And when you set the router to Deny access, you can only create an Allow rule. You can't put both at the same time unlike newer ones. However, it works the same.

  • Newbie with ? abt access restrictions

A friend gave us their old WRT120N so we now have wifi at home. I know it doesn't have parental controls per se, but can I use the access restrictions to turn off wi-fi at a certain time each night and turn it back on in the morning? With so many wifi devices in the house it is hard to control each one individually so I'd like to just turn off wifi on the router at a certain time each night. I need to still be able to use the pc which is comected to the router via port 4, but I don't want the wii. kindle, or phones or any other device to be able to use the wifi network.
    We're at firmware version v1.0.07..
. I am new to all this and don't understand how most of this works, so all help is appreciated.

Well they must be all on the network if they have internet access.
What you could do is set your PC to a Static IP address:
    Ex:
    IP Address: 192.168.1.10
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    DNS: 192.168.1.1
Then create an Access Restrictions policy that uses the IP Address range of your DHCP settings.
    Ex:
Restrict access for IP Address Range 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.150
Then when the other devices connect they will have to follow your access policy because their IP Address will be in the restricted policy IP Address range but your PC won't be because it's IP Address is out of the policy range.
Sorry this is a little complex but the Access Restrictions on this router aren't user friendly.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • RV220W - port redirection/access rules with multiple WAN IPs

I've just installed a Cisco RV220W - which works fine for outbound traffic, however for inbound it seems unable to work with multiple WAN IPs.
We have a block of 6 WAN IPs assigned to us by our ISP, and I want to make use of all of them to expose certain ports on our servers to the outside world.
I've tried to do this with Access Rules (using HTTP as an example) with the following settings:
Connection Type: Inbound (WAN (Internet) > LAN (Local Network))
    Action: Always Allow
    Service: HTTP
    Source IP: Single Address
Start: <one of the WAN IPs>
Send to Local Server (DNAT IP): <IP of the internal server>
Use Other WAN (Internet) IP Address: disabled
    Rule Status: Enabled
    Yet the server/port remains inaccessible.
    I've tried:
rebooting the server with a power off/on again
implementing the same settings in port forwarding
triple-checking all IP addresses being used
The only way I've got it working is by changing the access rule so that it applies to any source address rather than one specific one...  however that's not a solution for us as we need to use specific IP addresses for specific internal servers/ports.
The router's admin interface certainly suggests this should be possible, however making use of it seems to break all incoming access!
    Any suggestions welcome.

You should be using "ANY" as the source IP, as you are publishing your internal server to the internet and internet means the request comes from any source IP (you don't know what it is, so it will be any.
Basically, you want any source IP to hit one of your WAN IPs on port 80, and then your firewall will redirect that request to the internal server's private IP address on same port 80. And when the response comes back from the internal server, the firewall will already have this translate entry in it so the reverse NAT will happen (you don't need configure this, it is default firewall feature).
I hope I have answered your question well.
Please mark as correct if you like the response.
    Thanks
