No Live! Surround in Audi

Hello.
Sound card: SB Li've! I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly which one, since I can't take it out of my PC, but I suspect it's one of the original series, with an add-on card with MIDI/DIN ports.
Speakers: DeskTop Theatre 5. DTT2500 Digital
OS: Windows XP Pro with SP2
Drivers: Latest available (February 2003, if I recall correctly)
Could you please tell me why I have no Li've! Surround option in AudioHQ? I've seen this question asked before, and the answer given was that the sound card doesn't support 5. audio.
I don't believe my card and speakers are incompatible for several reasons. Firstly, the Li've! Surround option is available if I boot my system in Windows 98. Secondly, the DTT2500 manual describes how to connect it to a basic Li've! card. And thirdly, the DTT2500 was released in August 999, while the SB Li've! 5. card was released in September 2000. It would mean the speakers were intended to be used as a 5. system only after more than a year following their release.

  • External SB Live Surround 5.1 Monitor

    Hi.
I have a USB SB Li've 5. Surround card (Li've 24! External) with Windows Vista 32 bit and the latest vista drivers.
The Creative Audio Center .0.2 should restore the line monitoring function in Windows Vista, but i have no option to enable this function.
I?ve already contacted creative support a week ago?but they didn't reply me.
I have an Acer Aspire 430 notebook with the latest bios, all drivers updated and the latest creative drivers.
I can't record mic at 24bits with Creative Smart Recorder 2.40.2. I only get noise.
I guess it's a driver issue and i've tried a clean install with creative software and windows vista, but still the same problems.
    I need some help...
    Thanks.

  • Help with Live!Drive IR + Which Sound Card to Use (Live! vs Audi

Hey guys-- Recently a friend and I started recording music, my neighbor gave me a few cards, and this Li've!Dri've IR.
First, he gave me a Li've! 5. (SB0060) and an Audigy (SB0090) Card. The Li've!Dri've IR (SB000) isn't even listed on products on the Creative American Site. Instead, it is only listed on the HK (Honk Kong) website.
However, neither on the HK site, or the American site, can I find drivers for the dri've. When I say drivers, I honestly don't know if it has item specific drivers or if it functions without them (like a USB hub) but I am missing all of the Creative Suite (Play Center, remote, etc..) The American Site has a bunch of driver UPDATES but not the actual package for the bundled software... I only got 5. drivers off of there. I also have a remote that came with it.Additionally, I was wondering if I could (or should) use the Audigy Card over the 5. card.. I tried to look on the site to compare the differences but they are both so old it was hard to tell. I read that both cards would work with the AudigyDri've but I'm not sure about the backwards capabilities to work with the Li've!IR Dri've.ANY help at all would be wonderful.Note: I am running SONAR 4. if that makes any difference. Thanks,-Mike

Li've!dri've works with both Li've! and audigy card. You will need to get the installation CD to install all the necessary files to works with the li'vedri've. What they have on the support pages are only updates and not standalone installation. I suggest you contact their support and get from them a installation CD. If not, I have the iso of the CD and it's 540MB. If you have ftp then I can upload it to you.

  • How to make a decent surround mix?

I've never used STP, but I'm hoping you experts can help. I've posted this question in the FCP forum but got no respsonse. So I did a little more searching and realized this might be a better place for the question.
My goal is to take two-channel HD video, add a stereo music track, and produce something that sounds good in full surround. Is there any good tutorial on how I might make a modestly better surround mix? I'm not trying to win an Oscar here, or become a sound engineer. So simpler is better, please.
I've worked out a way to put surround sound into my HD movie, burn it to a DVD AVCHD using Toast, and get it all to play on a blu-ray player, Cool!! It looks great and has 5.1 Dolby Digital surround, all on a cheap DVD disk. I get about 30 minutes on the disk.
But now I realize I don't know jack about how to make it sound good. All I've tried so far is putting a stereo song into the surround speakers with the movie stereo in the fronts as usual. It's pretty cool, but it isn't exactly "immersive".
I think I might get a better result using an upmixing tool such as Upmix 1.1.1 from Cycling '74 (or is it KVR Audio?) to simulate 3D sound from my 2D source materials.
Has anyone tried something like this? Is it worth the bother? Any tips appreciated.

    My surround experiments test results:
Content: Two stereo tracks, a movie and a song.
Objective: Make a nice surround mix, something better than sending both tracks only to the fronts
Tools: Soundtrack Pro, Compressor 2.3.1 I have no system for "live" surround playback and no software designed to simplify front-rear fades and 3D sound placement. To test any mix, I have to burn it to disk and preview it on my (calibrated 7.1) home theater system.
*Hold Fixed:* No change was made to the stereo pan of either stereo pair. In all tests I let Compressor create a center mix at -3dB and a LFE using its low-pass filter checkbox.
*Experimental Design:* I have just four levers to pull - the level of each stereo pair in the front and in the rear. To simply testing, I used just 3 levels, 0 dB (no change), -3 dB and off, -∞. Four variables at 3 levels gives you 81 total combinations. Since I have to burn to disk, I can't run all those. Many tests can be eliminated as nonsensical, eg. the one test with all levels at -∞. Further eliminating the combinations that give level totals that are obviously too low or too extreme, I was left with 8 mixes I actually tested:
    Movie Music
    _F / R F/R Comment_
    1. 0 -∞ -∞ 0 Uncomfortable, too "obvious"
    2. -3 0 0 0 music a little dominant
    3. -3 0 0 -3 music too front
    4. 0 -3 0 0 not bad, music more forward than #6
    5. 0 0 0 -3 music too front
    6. 0 -3 -3 0 my favorite - very smooth transition when music starts
    7. 0 0 -3 0 music too rear, oddly
    8. 0 0 0 0 result pending
Conclusion: It's possible to make a dramatically improved sound mix over the two-channel stereo that is exported by iMovie. A starting point is simply duplicating the front signal into the surround speakers. A slight fade - in my case the movie was reduced in the rear and music reduced in the front - gives a nice "opening" of the sound and some sense of 3D. I believe this preset could be applied blindly to many movie+music projects and give an acceptable result.

  • Soundtrack Pro 2 and 5.1 sound

Okay, I know there are quite a few threads addressing surround sound already, but none of them have really answered my question, so here it is.
I have a 20" Intel iMac (Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz & 2 GB RAM) and am highly interested in finally being able to really mix 5.1 sound in STP. However, is there any way that I can monitor the surround mix in real-time using the Logitech Z-5500's?
I know I can't use the optical out on the Mac, but I do have an Alesis io26 (which I might end up selling - might need to replace it with something else) AD/DA interface. Can 5.1 be output from the Mac over FireWire to the io26 and then out of the S/PDIF output on the io26 to the S/PDIF input on the Z-5500's?
I suppose, to put it more simply, can 5.1 sound be output from STP via S/PDIF to a reciever with S/PDIF input?
    Thanks guys!

So, from a theoretical stand point, if I were to get the Edirol FA-101[1] and hook it up to my iMac via FireWire and then hook up 6 of the 1/4" Phono outputs to my Onkyo A/V receiver's 6 RCA inputs[2] for 5.1 audio via a 1/4" Phono to RCA adapter[3] then that should work, right?
After I have everything hooked up like that, I'd just need to route everything up in Soundtrack to output on the correct channel on the FA-101 to get live surround monitoring, correct?

  • Creative SB Live 5.1 Surround on Vista 32

    Hi,
I got a small problem where i can't find the answer for (i've been searching for ages on Google for drivers). I bought the creative sb live 5. surround but it doesn't seems to work on my laptop (dell studio 537 with windows vista home premium 32bit). I downloaded all kind of drivers for the soundcard but had no success so far. When i play music i only hear sound out of the 2 front speakers, and the subwoofer is working too. When i try to change the sound options in vista to 5. surround settings i can hear sound out of all the speakers (but only in that option menu). Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

This card was never meant to work in Vista however we had a person on here compile some drivers that worked but I'm not sure on 5.
You need this thread....drivers are here.
Wow 406 downloads and no one can bve bothered to reply.
There may be other drivers, but Daniel_Ks worked for me in stereo.

  • Live TV through Surround Sound

I reciently purchased a 47in LG.  I am trying to connect it to my Sony 6600 surround sounds system and to my HDDVR box.  I think I have everything figured out except I can't get the live tv sound through the surround sound.  I have an digital optical audio cable but can't figure out which two ports to plug it into.  I have tried TV to reciever and cable box to reciever but can't get either to work.  Any  advice?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks that fixed it.  Never would have thought of that.

  • Live!Surround speaker setting not showing in surround mixer for SB Live Platinum

the Li've!Surround option for speaker settings in not showing in my Surround Mixer
    i have:
    Windows 2000 sp4
    SB Li've! Platinum 5.
    ASUS CUSL2
    Sound Blaster Li've! - Li'veDrvUni-Pack (English) SBLW-XPWEB-W4-US 28-Feb-03
Installed the speaker preset for li've!surround but the only headphone, 2 speaker, 4 speaker, and 5. speaker shows up on speaker configuration of the Surround Mixer
i've played the AC3 files on the cdrom and Dolby pro logic surround, I get sound from all fi've speakers on my Denon D-850 w/ Dolby surround pro-logic
I can't use the surround mixer to test all the speakers, only front left and right speakers work on the test, i have to open to wav files directly to test the center speaker, the rear speaker test doesn't work from the wav file
My Denon system only has analog stereo inputs, so this is my only option for letting Sound Blaster know I have 5 speakers.
I've uninstalled all SB Li've software and drivers from the unipack, and reinstalled the orignal drivers and apps from the CD-ROM SBP5-CDSD-W-US MID : 32680 5-Sep-2000 and the Li've!Surround speaker setting reappears in the Surround Mixer.
Is the Li've!Surround setting no longer available in the new Surround Mixer in Li'veDrvUni-Pack (English) SBLW-XPWEB-W4-US 28-Feb-03 ?

    so I found this post...
    http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...7?dmode=source
it seems Li've Surround is no longer supported in the new drivers
....so what would be the best setting to play ac3 files or DVD's through my receiver with only 2 analog inputs (left and right) available w/ Dolby surround prologic. Should I set it to 2 speaker or 4 speaker setting in the Surround Mixer in order to send the best signal to the prologic decoder on my receiver with 5 speakers (2 front, center, 2 rear)

  • Soundblaster live! 24bit external 5.1 surround H

i purchased a new dell m70 and i plan to use it for audio recording mixing ect. and i need to be able to have 5. surround sound. I have been impressed with Creative products, and so i purchased the soundblaster li've external surround card to use with my logitec 5. surround sound speakers. I updated the drivers for vista ultimate, and yet i cannot get accurate channels. All the sound comes from the front 2 channels. Please, someone help me set up the card properly with true 5. surround.

    Hello Jason, Nvidiot,
SUCCESS!!! After Jason's post, I decided to troubleshoot by switching cables at both ends - what I found was that all three jacks on the card were indeed functioning OK - there was output from the PC side but it was not being received by the amplifier. After hours of looking through the manual, and switching the the various config modes on the remote for the amp - I decided to look at the amplifier itself. There was this one little bummer of a button (not mentioned in the manual, nor configurable via remote) that needed to be pressed on the amplifier itself in order to activate raw 5. input - and LO AND BEHOLD!!!
Thanks once again for your efforts to help.

    Win XP Prof
I have change the operating system from win 98 to win xp pro. After this I've install following driver: 5.2.2.252 date 24.07.2002.
Now I can't choose the multispeaker function in the surround mixer and the center speaker doesn't works. I have only 2, 4 speaker options or headset.
Under win 98 and an old win 98 driver I had the possibility the choose a multispeaker option.
    What can I do?
    Thanks

    This is my ~/.asounrc:
    ~/.asoundrc
    ctl.ca0106 {

  • SB Live 5.1 usb external no surround in Battlefield 2 h

    Hello!
I have SB Li've 5. usb external and when i check to play the game Battlefield 2 with hardware sound enabled (to use surround effects) then the voice is stuttering and some sounds are left out. Do anyone know a solution. Offically or inoffically i don?t care. But plz do anyone know a solution. I only wants surround but in software mode i do not get it.
    Sincerely: Andr?

Once you get it working (making sound, without crashing the system), go into Device Manager and UNINSTALL the Microsoft drivers. Then insert the Creative Installation Disk (it should autorun) and install the SoundBlaster Drivers and whichever Applications you choose. SIMILARLY, rather than choose 'uninstall driver' in Device Manager, you can select 'update driver' and point Windows toward the Creative disk. It should work either way, however one method may be a bit easier than the other for some people.
As a 'general' rule, anytime Windows begins to install something for you, you may want to click CANCEL and make it stop. Especially if you have a proprietary disk at hand with drivers and apps for that particular hardware.
PS-Don't forget to set your speakers to 5. in Control Panel.

  • USB Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit external: how do you get 5.1 surround from movi

I just purchased a Li've 24 external. Neither Cyberlink PowerDVD nor Windows Media Player seem to have an option to enable sending the digital audio stream straight out of the SP/DIF (optical digital output) of the SB Li've 24.
    It's always just a 96khz stereo stream.
How do I get surround sound out to my receiver?
    Thanks.
Also, I'm getting intermittent "pops" in all sound (DVD, Winamp, etc). I'd appreciate any ideas on how to fix that.

I had one of these for Christmas, but cannot get it to function! It is for converting vynil records to CD,'.Anyone any ideas?
