No longer have a Mac, Now only boots to Windows 7

So I partitioned the MAC OS drive so that part of it would be for Windows, and it told me to insert my Windows 7 disk. When Windows Install started up, it said that disk 1 partion 2 (Bootcamp) was not NFTS formatted, so to proceed, I formated just the Windows Partition. When I was done, disk 1 partition 2 was no longer called Bootcamp.
My guess is that the format erased the software that lets you choose between booting to Mac or Windows.....SO.......
My question is am I screwed, or is there someway for me to recover the Mac Install, that I know is still there. How can I boot to the Mac that I started with.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Chaz

If you only formatted the BootCamp partition then it shouldn't be a problem.
When you restart and hear the "BONG" hold down the ALT key and you should see a screen that comes up with both your partitions, just select your Mac Os X partition and it should load up into Mac.
Natively Windows won't read Mac partitions until you've installed BootCamp Utilities.

  • Only boots to windows after using bootcamp

    Hello,
I tried using bootcamp today and installed Windows 8. My machine now only boots to Windows 8, but without any network support (just to make life more difficult) and I have no access to OS X. I have used the Windows computer manager to view the disc partitions and these seem right and what I expect.
Is there something that would allow me to change how my mac boots, or can anyone offer any advice? The machine is only a couple of weeks old and so all drivers and operating system is up to date.
    Thanks.

    Hello Bob,
Thank you for your quick reply. I didn't download anything. I went to the Apple site and watched the video to see how it is done and then to Boot camp assistant, where I choose a fresh install of Windows. The option did say Windows 7 or later! I didn't know Win 8 is not supported.
Now I have a Win 8 install and for the most part it seems okay - just need to be able to install a network driver!
You must download the Windows Support software then after booting into Windows you must install the downloaded software. This software includes the Bootcamp Windows drivers (including the network drivers). But, there are no Windows 8 Bootcamp drivers http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1899.

right click on the folder that shows with the red negative sign, and select to "get info".  In the long skinny window that appears, look in the "sharing and permissions" section.  In the "name" column, you should see your current user name.  Ensure the "privilege" is set to Read and Write.  If your user name is not in the name column, click the + sign, and add it, ensuring the privileges are set to Read and Write

I bought windows and have a Mac now what can I do?

Downloads are single platform, but if you have PSE13 you can swap it for a Mac version. If you have an earlier version. I'm sorry you are out of luck.
If you need to buy again it's worth looking around on-line as there are often cheaper deals in January.

  • Mac will only restart in Windows via Bootcamp.......Help!!

Ok....My Mac has XP on BC 2.1. When I click the bottom right hand corner in Windows to restart in Mac it only restarts in Windows. Then When I'm in Mac and there is a software update, still, it only restarts in Mac OS. Last, when I go to system preferences, and Startup Disk, it still only will restarts in Windows. WHAT!?! It will however let me select Mac when I hold Option Key at boot then it Will boot into Mac. Any ideas why?

I would love to edit this post but I can't. I meant to say that it even restarts after an Apple Software Update in Windows. Basically anytime it restarts (even if I tell it not to) it is in Windows. The only exception is for when I hold option key, then I can get it into Mac. And my OS is 10.5.6 not 10.4.6.

How do i share itunes music? I have a Mac and she is on Windows. She does not have an iTunes or iCloud ID.

You could install iTunes on her PC, then sign in using your ID and activate her computer (iTunes menu bar: Store Authorize This Computer) in order to download your previous purchased media files.

  • How do I access the music from my Mac drive while booted into Windows?

How do I access the music from my Mac drive while booted into Windows via Bootcamp? I tried using MacDrive but it's not supported for Vista 64-bit edition. Is there another program out there that I can use? I just want to be able to access my music that's on Leopard while in Vista. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to move the music on the Windows side since Leopard will be able to read and play the music from the mounted Windows drive (Leopard will not be able write anything to the Windows NTFS partition).
In your case it won't work the other way around.

    Hello,
only alternatively to the hint from above, you can have a look there: "Telephone numbers of customer service and technical support Adobe worldwide"

... and only to reinsure myself: did you really click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and got an "open" chat, because I for my part had the best experiences with it. And I allow me to quote from Adobe's employee Preran: The chat button is activated as soon as there is an agent available to help.

  • Can only boot into Windows 7. Can't even boot from Snow Leopard DVD.

I have no idea what prompted this. I don't recall installing any OS updates recently, other than some Windows Live apps in Windows 7.
I have an early 2009 Mac Mini with Snow Leopard, and have Windows 7 64-bit installed in a Boot Camp partition. When I installed Windows 7, I couldn't get the Boot Camp utility to install within Windows (I guess because it's 64-bit) so to switch back and forth between OSes, I just shut down the Mac and restart it with the Option key pressed, and select Mac OS X when I want to return to Mac. This has worked for about a month and a half now (ever since I got Windows 7). Suddenly I have problems.
I first had problems booting into Windows or Mac. I got to the grey screen with the Apple logo, with that spinning "progress" thing going for a while, then it would freeze up and get stuck on the grey screen with the Apple logo. I zapped the PRAM. No help. Then, after disconnecting all external drives (I have several) and extra USB devices, I was able to boot from the DVD install disk and reinstall Snow Leopard on my internal drive. Joy, or so I thought. Then I booted into Windows 7, and after some weirdness getting it to start, it did successfully start and ran just peachy.
Then I turned off the Mac and held down the option key (as usual) to return to Mac OS. But now all that happens is that I get a grey screen for a few seconds, then the Mac boots back into Windows 7, which seems to work fine. (I'm in Windows 7 right now.) I turned on one my external drives (Snow Leopard installed, connected via Firewire 800) in hopes that the Mac would boot into that, but same thing. Ignored and back to Windows 7.
Then I thought I'd boot from the install DVD again by putting it in the drive and holding down the C key as I restart, but the same thing--a grey screen for a few seconds, and then booting right into Windows 7. I can't seem to escape Windows 7! It's a bit disturbing when it won't even recognize the install DVD.
I tried to call Apple Care since I'm within my 90 day support window, but of course they are closed. I'm figuring that I'm going to have to take this into an Apple Store, but thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

According to Apple, Win 7 64bit is supported with Bootcamp 3.0. If bootcamp 3.0 is available; I could not find it anywhere on Apple's website. It appears the most recent version is 2.2. The only place I could find 3.0 is not on Apples website and it's a questionable source so I won't post it here.
It may just be a matter of time before Apple makes it available. I'm not suggesting you wait, however if the install disk can't be used, I'm not too sure where u could go from there. Calling Applecare might work.
If you do a simple google search using the terms 'download bootcamp drivers windows 7' u will see what I was referring too.
Here's what I found from Apple (It doesn't specifically mention 64bit however just win7): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3920
This is not from Apple, but specifically addresses whether they support win7 64bit: http://www.macnn.com/articles/09/08/31/boot.camp.win.7.64.support/
Here is more info about bootcamp 3.0 and win7: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

  • Mac Mini Server Boot Camp Windows 8.1 White Screen Issue

    Hello Apple Peeps!
I have a Mac Mini Server 2012 which I have had for around 6 months. I use it quite a lot mainly for Music Production on the OS X side and Graphic Design on the Windows side.
I recently decided to factory restore it as I wanted to spring clean it and reorganise the way some of my apps were installed. The way I had it set up was it was running OS X on one SSD and Windows 8.1 (installed using Boot Camp) on the other SSD. The way I went about the factory restore was I first used disk utility to erase/format the Windows SSD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then went about the factory restore of OS X onto the other SSD as normal (following instructions from the Apple website).
The issue I am having now is that my newly installed Windows 8.1 (used solely on a single SSD) is hanging on a white screen for quite a long time before the Windows splash screen shows up, where before when I would boot or restart into Windows there was no white screen and it would go straight into the Windows splash screen and load to the desktop very quickly.
    So my question is...
Why do I get this prolonged white screen before the Windows 8.1 splash screen appears? How can I get rid of it? It was certainly not present on my previous installation. Can anyone advise me what the computer is doing during this time so that I can do some further research into a solution.
    What I have tried already....
    1) PRAM & SMC reset.
    2) Setting the startup disk to Boot Camp in both OS X and Windows 8.1.
    3) Reinstalling Windows 8.1 through Boot Camp.
MAC MINI SERVER (LATE 2012), 2.6GHZ QUAD CORE I7, 16GB RAM, 2 x 256GB SSD, OS X 10.10.2, Windows 8.1 (Retail), Boot Camp Assistant (5.1.3), Covered By AppleCare.
I would really appreciate some help with this ;-)

I have right clicked on each SSD in Device Manager and selected the option 'Properties' from the drop down menu, which brings me to this window...
I'm not sure where I can find Device Attributes, I have clicked on each of the tabs in the window above, as far as I can see none of them mention AHCI enabled or anything similar. Thanks for all of your responses by the way...much appreciated!

  • D20 now only available with Windows and SATA...??

As of this morning, the Lenovo Thinkstation D20 on the US site is only available with Windows and SATA hard drives.  It used to have SAS drives and DOS available.
They may just be low on inventory, or maybe... ?

    Solved!

Kind of funny you mention this as a few of my team members and I were digging through the CTO site today.  Considering the crazy number of various parts/options that we have qualified for the S/C/D 20 platforms, there are a ton of omissions on the CTO site.  I know they pull some various options from time to time because of inventory or end of life concerns, but the configs that were showing up today as available really made no sense.  Unfortunately there's not a lot I can do from my side to get this resolved other than raise the complaint.  I'll see what I can do though.

  • Using Airport on A mac When you booted into Windows XP

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to iMac computers. In a short while, I will receive my first imac Computers. As i Heard, you can access my wireless network at homewith the airport in my Mac. However, how do i access the web if i was to Boot in Windows Xp. Is there a special process that allows me to use the Airport card when Im using Windows Xp
      Windows XP

    Hi
The Airport connection will appear as a wireless connection in your network settings in Windows. Depending on your Windows configuration, it may well appear as an icon in your taskbar at the bottom right of the screen - you can double-click on this icon (and enter a password if necessary) to access your network.
