  • My 5th gen nano no longer works on its extrnal speaker dock

my daughters ipod nano 5th gen no longer seems to work correctly when plugged into an external speaker dock. the ipod will still charge, but any sound will play via the ipods speakers not through the externals. the ipod still shows as charging when plugged in and the headphone also works. i have tried it in 2 seperate docks, an ipig (in which it normaly works fine) and a gear4 sound dock. both docks work with no problem with my own ipod touch, but the nano does not seem to be recognised apart from being allowed to charge. is it broken?

  • I upgraded my ipad 2 to ios 5.1 and it no longer recognizes or plays through my speaker dock.  Help!

I just upgraded my ipad 2 to ios 5.1 and it no longer recognizes or plays through my speaker dock.
    I have tried:
    - multiple soft and hard resets (including various sequences published on this site... no luck)
    - reseting the ipad settings (location, wifi, etc)
    - 2 complete system wipe-out and restore cycles
    - changing every setting I can think of
I still have normal sound from the device when it is not docked.  When docked, my device still charges and it clearly recognizes it is plugged into something (as the volume slider will no longer function with the side keys while docked) but it won't play and eventually it gives me a message that says "accessory not supported by ipad."  This speaker dock is designed specifically for ipad (brookstone idesign boombox) and worked flawlessly until 2 days ago when I installed the ios 5.1 update.
    Please help!

Not quite the same problem but my speaker dock no longer charges iPad1 and iPhone4 since upgrading to iOS5.1 but was playing and charging only the day before, extremely annoying as I have only had the dock about 3 weeks now.
I haven't tried my iPad3 yet, but will assume that it will do the same

  • My iphone is no longer able to be controlled by speaker dock or car stereo

I have a speaker dock and also an iphone connection in my car. My iphone 4 still connects to both and I can charge and play music through them, the problem is that the control functionality of both docks no longer works. I can connect friends' iphones and they work fine (I am able to skip tracks, etc) but with my iphone I cannot. Anyone got any suggestions?

Interesting. I thought about posting the same answer, because I, too have had the same experience with video drivers. I wasn't sure if this was a problem that anybody else was having, but evidently it is.
If you dig deep down into LabVIEW manuals, it does make a suggestion to drop the colors to as few as you need. My driver was having problems with 16 million colors, so I dropped it to 256. All my problems disappeared when I did this, too.

  • Iphone 4s no longer recognised by my car stereo (via usb) or by my apple friendly music dock. Any ideas?

My Iphone 4s no longer recognised by my Sony car stereo (via usb) or by my apple friendly music dock. Any ideas?
Had started acting up just prior to IOS 8.0 then seemed ok a few days into using IOS 8.0 but now back to square one.
Have updated to IOS8.0.2 but still nothing.

maybe try cleaning out the port at the bottom of your iphone by blowing it out with compressed air or maybe by using a soft brush. or maybe gently with a toothpick. but nothing metal. perhaps there's dirt or dust in there that's preventing a connection. similarly make sure the connectors on your docks and cables are clean.

  • After updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod.  It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?

after updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod.  It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?

    Try:
    - Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available

  • IPAD1 is no longer recognised by my MAc. Itunes freezes when I restart everything. My  iphone 4 works fine. How do i fix this?

My IPAD1 is no longer recognised by Itunes on my Mac deskop. I have follewed the steps recommended by Apple Support aand sometimes after shutting everything down & restarting Itunes briefly recognises my ipad before freezing. Thereafter it sometimes recognises an Ipad is connected but says it cannot identify it. THe message readds "An iPad has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPad, then try again."  Dsiconneceting & reconnecting achives nothing. However the Ipad does receive a charge from the Mac
This started after updating some Apps, and the next sync advised me that there had been issues syncing Apps. Then this problem started.
How an I reconnect my IPAD so Itunes recognisese it?. THere is no problem syncing my Iphone4s

    - Look at the dock connector on the iPad. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.
    - Reset the iPad. Nothing is lost
Reset iPad: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod touch 4th gen  - no sound from speaker dock

After upgrading my 4th gen iPod touch o iOS 5, the speaker dock no longer works. The dock charges the iPod, but iPod still continues to output sound from the internal speaker rather than the speaker dock. My iPhone with iOS 5 works fine on the dock. I have restored the iPod to a fresh state but the problem still persists
    What could be the problem?
    Thank you

Based on your troubleshooting, it would appear theat iOS 5 on the iPod made the dock incompatible.  Have you loked at the dock manufactore's support site?

  • Problems with Speaker Dock

Just downloaded latest Ipod software and Ipod Touch no longer plays through my speaker dock or FM transmitter in the car. The dock is powered and I can hear the music through the Ipod's own speaker - haven't tried it with headphones.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

My problem started when I downloaded the latest Ipod software. I fixed it by resetting (pressing home and sleep button for 10-15 seconds) and synching and everything's back to normal now.

  • New problem connecting to a speaker dock.

I have a Vivo speaker dock and everything was fine until today and it won't recognise my ipod. I don't think it's the speaker dock because I can plug an mp3 player into it via 3.5mm phono and that works fine. I haven't played it since the 1.13 firmware update so I suspect that is the culprit. Anyone got any suggestions please?

I've tried a restore and that hasn't sorted it...but of course the firmware is still 1.13

  • IPod battery not charging unless in speaker-dock

I have my iPod 5g (60gig) for about 2 years now. About 2 months ago the battery started to act up.
It would very suddenly discharge completely (I noticed that my room had gotten unusually cold before the first of these failures). The ipod would not respond to buttons, and plugging it into the computer dose not charge it.
After some trying i discovered that the ipod would charge again if pluged into an i-station speaker-dock, and after 2 or three minuits in the i-station it would also charge fine from my ibook.
About 2 weeks ago the battery on my ipod again got itself completely discharged. As i did not have access to an istation i was unable to recharge it since.
Today I bought a belkin usb-wall charger with ipod cable that is marked as 'made for ipod' and states clearly that it is ipod video compatible at walmart (i'm on holidays in the US) and have been trying to use this to recharge my ipod, however the charger is not helping.

I received a 4th Gen 20GB iPod (around 2 years old)from a friend and asked me whether I could fix it for him, which has been left untouched as a paper-weight for almost 2 months.
I tried to turn it on, and the screen was completed blank and the device looked dead. Before doing anything I prepared the following:-
    1. A window based PC
    2. A Mac computer
    3. An USB iPod cable
    4. A Firewire iPod cable
    5. An iPod AC charger
As the iPod was previously formatted on a PC, therefore I tried to plug it with a PC via USB cable, it did not response and not able to get recognized by the PC. I ejected the iPod and connected with an AC charger, after a few minutes, I did a Reset for the iPod
    How to reset iPod
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705
The iPod showed an Apple sign, it stuck there for almost a minute, the screen then showed a battery with an exclamation mark sign, and after a minute, the iPod turned off itself. I was sure that the iPod carried very low battery, and could not be charged by connecting it with any computer (both Mac and PC).
I decided to let it have a charge with an AC charger for a bit longer, after 10 minute I did the Reset again, this time a sign of folder with exclamation mark showed up after the Apple sign, and again could not get recognized by a computer.
I changed my mind, and put the iPod into disk mode

Instead of connecting with a PC, I plug it with my Mac using a Firewire cable, it did not response, so I switched the cable to an USB, interestingly, the iPod got recognized and a window pop up indicating that the iPod needed to do a Restore. Therefore I clicked “Restore”.
After that I left the iPod with the ac charger overnight, and it finally recovered

  • Ipod bricked after playing through speaker dock

    Hello,
Both mine and a friend's ipod nanos (latest model) have stopped working completely after being put into a little speaker dock. Its strange because we have used those speakers succesfully loads before.
Both are just black screens, don't respond to the menu and centre reset or being plugged into a mac.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Leo

There is something wrong with the new ipods. They don't charge in certain docking stations like the Bose System. Mine wouldn't at least, and I have read other threads here regarding the same thing. I also had used a friends wall charger, it wasn't an apple product, but it had worked on his 80gig ipod classic and still does. It charged my ipod 4th gen, but very weakly, and it wouldn't hold a charge for very long. By the time I got home it was dead, completely. Hooked it up to the macbook and it was still dead. It wouldn't even show up on the mac.
After reading about the apparent problems with this product, and going through apple's phone menu bullsh*t, I said f*ck it. I took it back to Costco. They have a 90 day return policy, no problem. Got a full refund.

  • New speaker dock's no sync?

I noticed recently that all the iPod speaker docs to play your music thru a speaker dock stand used to have a USB sync cable connector. Looking at the new units all vendors talk about protection from the signals from the iPhone, however also mention they no longer have the sync connector. Is there something with syncing with the iPhone that is different from all other iPod devices that once the iPhone was interjected into the equation they dropped the sync option? Checked over 10 vendors and they all show the same story.
    Thanks.

They are not easy to find. Here's one that will let you charge, play and sync: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV020VC/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5Mg&mco=MzM1MDk0OA&p=1& s=topSellers

  • My iphone4 no longer recognises my MiCoach connect

My iphone4 no longer recognises my MiCoach connect, it says 'this accessory is not supported by iphone. i tried it on my mum's and the connect works fine. So it's a problem with my phone. Any help or advice welcome. Thanks

    Hi lucifercalling,
if this happens you can try a few things:
Check if your cover/case (if you have one) is preventing the CONNECT from being plugged in fully
Check if there is dust or debris in the CONNECT or your iPhone dock
Unplug the CONNECT, close the App fully (double-tap home button, press-hold the App and then press the red circle), open the app and plug in the CONNECT - try this a few times
    Uninstall and reinstall the App
Reset the iPhone - try again with the CONNECT and App
    Contact adidas miCoach support
    Hope this helps.
