No more bookmark icon in iBooks 3.1

Can no longer bookmark pages since I upgraded to iBooks 3.1. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iBooks but that didn't work. Also page turn animation is way to fast and sensitive. I'm on an iPhone 4S running Os 6.1.3.

I've tapped the screen and all the other icons are there settings, search, etc.
I'm using notes for now to mark pages.

If you remove the names then you may have a problem with organizing or searching for bookmarks.<br />
If you do not want to use the extension then you can achieve the same effect with code in userChrome.css<br />
That is what I would do.
Add code to userChrome.css below the @namespace line.

How can I get rid of the icons in the bookmarks toolbar in 4.0 so I just have text there (fit more bookmarks in visible portion) but not switch off other icons?

How can I change the bookmarks toolbar so that it shows only text and not icons (so I can fit more bookmarks on the visible portion) in 4.0 without turning off other icons? This was easy in version 3.

Bookmark ribbon not appearing when pushing bookmark icon

I'm reading a Project Gutenberg book I downloaded from the iBooks store, and when I press the bookmark icon in the upper right of a page, no ribbon comes down to indicate it's marked. When I go to the list of bookmarks, only sometimes has a bookmark been registered, and when it has, it's for a spot a few pages earlier in the text.
If I click on the listed bookmark, iBook will take me to the page it claims I've marked, and the red ribbon will be there.
Is this just an issue with the epub formatting of some books, like this free one?

OK, I have a theory about how this thing is behaving; bookmarks seem to show up/behave as you would expect (when I tap on the ribbon) provided I have the font size set to something that appears to paginate the book to its original (just a guess on my part) layout. If I increase the font size to make things larger/more easily readable, then things get screwy as described above as the pagination bumps up the # of pages and the page #s where a ribbon gets place doesn't seem to correspond to the exact visible page I wanted it on. Confused? So was I, but the evidence seems to point to this.
Anyway, try this out and see if it doesn' behave as I described.
Bottom line - iBooks does not behave in a rational manner and therefore it is buggy in my opinion - i.e. this is not a "feature"...
I have no experience with other iBooks downloads. Steve Jobs is my first purchase - and this this is my introduction to iPad and iBooks and terribly ironic to discover behavior like this with the ode to Steve book - which, BTW, I am enjoying max.

I get a black screen instead of my bookmark list when I click on bookmarks icon

BookThis happened suddenly. I can still access my bookmarks by going to the Bookmarks(top of screen)/Bookmarks Bar/then pull-down Alice's Bookmarks from that to access my bookmarks. However, I have to keep the cursor pushed down, cannot rearrange them from there or view the actual URLs. What did I do to cause this?! More importantly, how do I UNDO it and get back my access to the nice bookmarks list by simply clicking on the bookmark icon up top?" It is VERY frustrating!

this is happening to me as well but I want to see what that bookmark is as aposed to having to double click the bookmark itself I have saved many bookmarks and I am regualrly looking for things on the bookmarks so I do not want to have to click evey single bookmark to find things again

How can I delete the useless bookmarks icons in FF 29.01???

On my MacBook Pro, with the new FF version 29.01, every bookmark has an icon which takes up useful space. How can I delete the icons so I can see more bookmarks? Please help

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
* Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist.
* Use a plain text editor like Text Editor to create a (new) userChrome.css file in this folder (the names are case sensitive).
* Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window and make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line.
* Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css..

I want to assign and change bookmark icons on my bookmark toolbar

Some websites automatically assign an icon when I add them to my bookmark bar. For brevity sake, I delete the description so I can have more bookmarks lined up across the top of the browser page. Other websites do not generate an icon (its an icon of a blank page, a generic default setting I suppose). I want to be able to assign an icon for my bookmarks that do not have a unique icon.

If you want to have a less crowded Bookmarks Toolbar then I don't think that you can assign icons.
However you can create folders to put bookmarks in. That way, you can still put in a description if you want to, without having to give up Toolbar space. To create a folder:
1. Right-click the Toolbar
2. Select the 'New Folder...' option (near the top)
3. Fill in the name (and description if you wish)
4. Click 'Add'
* You can now add bookmarks to that folder by draging and droping them onto it
* You can edit a folder by right-clicking on it and selecting 'Properties...', changing it to how you want it and clicking 'Save'

Bookmarks not showing when bookmark icon tapped

Hi, I have created an ePub and am seeing a problem with it when trying to add a bookmark. Sometimes tapping the bookmark icon in the top right of the book will result in the red bookmark ribbon appearing, but then on other occasions, however much I tap the bookmark icon - the bookmark just doesn't appear.
I have found that this does also happen on other ePubs, so I am wondering if this might be a known iBooks bug.

Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist (preferences can become corrupted)
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Click Go
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Desktop.
Quit and relaunch Safari.
Try adding a new bookmark of bookmark folder. If you can, then move the .plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.
If that didn't help, open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Bookmarks, then reselect it.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a bookmark again.

"More bookmarks" list does not appear

Randomly,when I click this icon " >> " in order to see more bookmarks,nothing appears.If I refresh the page it works just fine,but after five minutes,or so, it might happen again.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

Safari crash everytime when i click the bookmark icon on iPad2 iOS5.1

I have tried closing safari app and reset the ipad, even more than one time, but these doesn't work..
The problem may be caused by a new bookmark which I added this morning, it's a bookmark with some javascript code which can let you check the source of the webpage. (the content is from: http://www.ravelrumba.com/wp/wp-content/code/view-source.txt) At the very beginning, it works fine and i can use it to check sources of some pages( by click the bookmark icon and click the specified bookmark i created ). but after a while, it cannot work and the bookmark icon became a crash trigger

Missing Bookmark Icons

Hi,
I've recently been having a few problems with Safari (spinning beachball and freezing).
After a recent force quit I noticed that some of my my bookmark icons arn't showing up. This is very annoying for me as I use these a lot when visiting my favorites.(I realize that most people get annoyed by HAVING icons!)
Anyway, I miss them and want them back..... any Ideas?

First, I would try to determine what is causing your performance problems.
Run repair disk from your software install DVD
Clear the Safari cache.
Close Safari, trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist), restart, and enter your personal preferences.
Trash the favicon file to clear out any problems there (~library>safari>icons). When you visit a web page for the first time, the favicon (if there is one) will be stored.

Can I move the bookmark icon back away from the x-out icon?

With the latest version of Firefox the bookmark icon moved all the way to the right, just under the icon to x out of the system. It seemed really happy over the left where it had always been. Can I move it back?

How very annoying is this so called update, if you are right handed you generally hold the iPad in your left hand and use your right hand to type and use the tabs etc, because Apple have moved the favourite tab to the left it means you have to put your hand straight over the screen which blocks everything.
Ironically Apple have done some work on the favourites tab by rounding the icons book edges, pity they never thought more about how their customers have to use the tab, as opposed dressing up the favourite icon!

How can I relace the Folder Icon with a more discriptive Icon

Bookmark toolbar: When you add a folder, it uses a "folder" Icon. How I replace that "folder Icon with a more Discriptive Icon, so I don't need to add text?

There are extensions that can replace the favicon of a bookmark, but AFAIK then there aren't extensions that can replace a folder icon.
The only way to do that is via code in userChrome.css and specify an icon for each folder.<br />
Place the icons in the same chrome folder as the userChrome.css file.
The folder name is case sensitive and need to be exactly the same as specified for the bookmarks folder

Adding more Acrobat Icons in Outlook? Acrobat 9 Standard and/or Pro

Does anyone have the ability to add more Acrobat icons in Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007? I have been looking for a way to add a icon for Append to Existing PDF. Acrobat 7 had it but now we have Acrobat 9.
The current way to append is to click on Adobe PDF, Convert Selected Messages, Append to Existing PDF. The Append to Existing PDF icon in Outlook saves an extreme amount of time. This was very useful and is missed greatly.
If anyone knows of a way to add a new icon or a third-party add-in, please let me know. Thank you!!
