No music browsing in Apple TV

Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help!
I have a 1st Generation Apple TV which has worked brilliantly until this week.
After purchasing & downloading a few music tracks, the options under the "Music" tab on the menu page suddenly changed. Now I only have the option to enter "My Music." The "Search" and "Top Music" tabs, etc. have disappeared. This means I can no longer purchase music direct to the Apple TV which is my usual method.
The other tabs for Movies, TV, Podcasts, etc. are OK & work as always, it's just the Music one which has developed this fault. I can connect OK to internet radio & YouTube as well as download movies, etc.
My software is apparently up to date, (software version 3.0.2). I've done "reset settings" and also used the diagnostic tool start-up. This said I had an ethernet problem, but I've reconfigured the settings to no avail. I would have thought that if there was an ethernet problem, then all options would be affected, i.e. Movies, TV, Youtube, etc.
I don't particulary want to do a factory reset, because of the amount of content currently on the Apple TV that I would have to replace.
Any help or suggestions would be very welcome!

Hi Linda, exactly the same has happened to me. Not sure when it happened, it was OK Thursday night but not now. I ran diagnostics and had no problems, so I think your ethernet issue is a red herring.
I tried signing out of the itunes store account and back in and also restarting, but the problem has not been fixed.
I presume Apple have done something at the iTunes Store end. I have put in a support request through iTunes, I will let you know when they respond. In the meantime can anyone else help?

Bug in the music browser?

SITUATION:
The ATV2 allows the user to browse by GENRE. The second choice in order narrow down the search will be ARTIST followed by ALBUM. In the ARTIST menu all artists are shown with tracks that match the initial genre choice. The user can either choose to either see all albums of a specific artist or choose "ALL" in order to see all albums of the entire library with just those tracks that match the GENRE choice in the first place.
BUG:
Choosing GENRE = "Score" and ARTIST = "ALL" lists ALL albums of ALL artists. There seems to be a bug in the database selection statement.
FIX:
This choice should list all albums with just those tracks that are labeled as "Score".
It is probably likely that there are other combinations that in the music browser that will have similar bugs. Anyone else with this one?

I just noticed the same thing. It works the "right" way on my 3rd generation iPod, so I see no reason why the Apple TV 2.0 suddenly broke this behavior.
I use playlists a lot, but sometimes I want to narrow down a search to a genre then look at albums. Annoying

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

You cannot. iTunes purchases remain on the iTunes account they were purchased with.

You cannot move purchases from one ID to another. If you have protected content you wish her to have then you can authorize her computer for your purchases. Shouldn't be an issue with music. It becomes more complicated as families try to share and update apps bought over multiple IDs.

When I say that I'm not able to play music in the Apple TV is because I can not more find the option in ITunes, I remember that two months ago I was able to share the music and hear it in the TV but maybe I forgot the way to do that or may be change it, I don't know. If I remember, I just made click for example in a song and there was the option to share to Apple TV but jet is no more the option.
I don't have a MAC, my computer is VAIO and didn't change it.
I already set the Home sharing on ITunes and Apple TV.

Trying to play music from my apple tv directly to speakers and at the same time watch tv. Now I'm not that advanced at technology so I kinda need the easiest way to do this. Now I see that the Apple tv has an optical audio output. Can I set that optical out to self powered speakers and then have regular RCA cables set out from the tv to the same speakers and watch the tv on mute, unless I want to turn it up for a moment. I want to be able to airplAy music through my apple tv but also put a game on at the same time if I have guest. I hope my question was clear enough, but that's the best that I can explain it. Oh by the way, I do not have one of those centrAl hub receiver where all the speakers are plugged into and where you can set different inputs and outputs out of it. Everything would be a direct connection.

yes. u dont need the tv. turn it off.
1. direct connection (optical or stereo cables) to your amplifier
2. use mac to play to atv, or iphone/ipod touch to remote control the atv. (wifi)

Sorry, but you probably can't. You cannot sync from an Apple TV to a PC except for items purchased from the iTunes Store on the Apple TV. You'll need to restore from the backups you made of your iTunes library, which I presume you made?

Welcome to the Apple community.
You can share content between 2 libraries that have different ID's for the iTunes Store, yes.
You need to make sure that both libraries are using the same ID for home sharing though (from the File menu)
