No pictures

Hi, thanks, Don! I do use the tabs, but never when I
should... (And I call myself technical.)
Okay, here's the problem. I copied the "photo album" code,
set up my albums/galleries and made sure that the various files
were where they're supposed to be. I'm using Dreamweaver 8 on a
MacBook (Intel) running Tiger. When I "view" the pages in Safari or
Firefox, I get the text, but no pictures or thumbnails. I
know I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure out what
that might be. Please help!
Oh, I should mention that this particular computer isn't
connected to the Internet; I have to use sneakerNet to transfer the
files. (We're in the middle of house renovations, and the
electrician - me - hasn't finished running all the wires.)
Here's the folder structure:
Carolyn's Clips
include -> This holds the xpath.js, SpryData.js (v1.4)
and the other Spry files
css -> This holds zengarden.css, carolyn.css, reset.css
and gallery.css
gallery -> container for the various galleries
cats -> Pictures of our cats,
photos.xml, Photos and Thumbnails subfolders +
index.html
(Edit: I should mention that the "cats" folder is a subfolder
from "gallery". Gallery has it's own index.html that's used for
picking which pictures you want to see. )
I use the zengarden website for it's CSS definitions, with
"your" div's tacked on the end. If you need it, I can post a copy.
carolyn.css defines some background colors for the pages, header
styles and so on. gallery.css defines the overall look-and-feel of
the gallery. It's mainly background color and menu placement (I
don't want the navigation menu's getting in the way of the
pictures). reset.css is a file I copied from Yahoo that resets all
CSS elements; a couple of books advised this as a "good idea".
index.html was copied from the "photo album" example. Some
bits might look familiar...
I've got a few people wanting to see my website, and they're
starting to believe I'm full of it! Please help!!!

Hi,
Before i go reconstructing your page, a helpful tip or two:
When trying to figure out why images aren't showing up, take
the src path you are trying to build, and simply display it on the
page as text. Then you can see the path that Spry thinks it is, and
match it with what you think it is. It's easy to see the "oh I
forgot to put a slash between folder names..." stuff.
Install Firebug and use it. It's invaluable for seeing
generated markup and finding out what's up.

Mini-DVI to Video to SD TV, no NTC display setting, fuzzy B&W picture

I've seen several posts on this topic but I haven't seen a specific one that addresses my problem. I apologize for rehashing an old topic but I'm fairly desperate at this point.
I have a Mini-DVI to Video adapter (from Best Buy and yes, I heard they had problems but haven't been able to find exactly what those problems are). I live in the United States. I am trying to connect my Macbook to my SD CRT TV and cannot get it to properly work. My first problem is that I do not have a display selection option for NTSC, 720x468 at 60Hz in my "Display" window. The second problem is that for all of the 60Hz display options that I do have the picture is in B&W and scrolls or displays multiple skinny images.
Please help!

The problem with the Dynex adapter, as near as I can tell, is that it doesn't have any EDID data inside of it. The Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter does have a valid EDID inside of it. That's probably why your MB doesn't know it's connected to a TV, because it isn't being told it is by the plug-and-display driver (EDID), which is either missing or not correctly formed.

ok. So, I have an Apple mini dvi to video adapter. I use it all the time on my tv's using both composite and s-video (s video on my HD flat screen, and composite on m cheaper tv.) Everything works great. no problems. Until I go to my girlfriend's house. I use the composite side to connect to her tv. I believe it is a Sylvannia or something like that. I get no video, just scrambled style lines.
Now I've seen this before, with my iPod video cable where i had to change the PAL/NATC settings. Something to do with American versus overseas products. No worries. But i can't seem to find those same settings on my MacBook.
Where do I change the settings so i can watch movies on her tv? like i said, I didn't change anything when i connected it to my tvs, i get great picture.
Please help !!!! I can't watch another movie with her on my little MacBook screen......

I have connected the mini DVI to video adapter with the composite to my TV (about a 5 year old model). Also connected Audio cords to TV, and the audio is wonderful...BUT NO VIDEO! Actually I get about 5 seconds of a DVD or whatever, and then the screen turns blank...just nice audio thru TV. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

My picture folder is missing from my laptop and I am having trouble with how to organize my pictures in folders

I have been trying to learn how to use my MacBook Pro better so I can get my photos on it. I do not like iPhoto at all because it was not letting me organize my photos the way I always did in Windows Explorer. I am now trying to use Lightroom and I have run into some issues with how my photos are showing up.
1. Whenever I removed my photos from iPhoto so I could start over, my Picture file in Finder disappeared. I do not believe I deleted it but somehow I must have. I was trying to just delete my pictures from Imgages under All My Files. I thought that All My Files was duplicating data and I don't want duplicate pictures on my computer. However, now I am just wondering if All My Files is just a link to my actual files. What is the purpose of that?
2. I imported one photo card to try to work with it and made a new Pictures folder on my desktop and arranged it using some folders and sub-folders I created.
3. I then uploaded these through lightroom.
4. Somehow, all of my photos were showing up in images, which is not where I wanted them and I deleted the duplicates.
5. Now many of my folders in the Picture file I created on the desktop are empty with no photos
6. I tried to restore my pictures from the trash to Images under All My Files and it keeps putting them into documents
7. I have been trying to learn how to use this computer but it seems so different from what I was always used to with Explorer. This should not be that complex but I search and search on the web and can't seem to find exactly what I need to help me

Multiple logins on one computer - Different accounts, same picture...?

Since the iPhone 3.0 recently released push notifications, I decided to open an account for my wife that she could use on her iPhone. From what I understand, iChat now allows multiple logins on each computer.
I set everything up accordingly, noted that I am the admin on this computer, my picture pops into my ichat name. If I then enable her account on the same computer, her login also pops up next to my window. This is working according to plan.
However, if I try to change the picture on her ichat window it also changes on mine. What am I doing wrong here?

iChat can not display different Buddy Pics for different Buddy Lists.
This may change with Snow Leopard.
Click the iChat Menu and use the Feedback option and post your wish there.
iChat can use one of 4 Buddy pics.
You can set a Pic in the iChat Buddy List by clicking on the current one and using the edit features.
If there is not one in the Address Book for yourself And this tends to be the one selected in System Preferences > Accounts > Your account although you can set them to be different (Three choices so far) it will default to one for the account type (A Running yellow man for AIM, A Blue Globe for @mac.com names and the Cloud for MobileMe names).
Apple have tended to suppose that if two or more people are going to be using a Mac that there are then Mac User Accounts set up on the computer and therefore there is no issue with Buddy Pics.
The iChat Buddy List is held on the AIM server (AIM names, @Mac.com [email protected] ones).
Part of the process is that the local Buddy list compares this to the Address Book and Add the Real names you have entered.
So only this name in the Address Book on that computer will show Real names if entered.
You can Export the Address Book on one computer and Import on the other to get them the same. (Or Sync via MobileMe if you have an Account)
You are getting in to the realms of your wife's Buddies being in your Address Book.

How do you Combine Pictures into one Photo

I'm really re.tarded when it comes to this stuff.
I want to take 4 pictures and combine them, making like a montage and I have no clue how to do that.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did your computer happen to have come with OmniGraffle? It is an amazing application and can create a collage very easily like this one I made out of 96 photos.
If it didn't come with your computer it's demo mode it will let you work with up to 10 items on a page.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

How to take a picture with my mac bok pro???

Years ago I took pictures and selfies with my MacBook Pro. After spending a lot of time only using my phone to take pics I'm only trying now to take one simple pic of my dog on the other side of my computer screen tonight. Now I can't seem to find out how to do this. The i-Photo at the bottom of the screen only shows me old photos and asks for locations. No. I try to look for help on my Mac to no avail. THE REST OF MY MICROSOFT FRIENDLY FAMILY ARE AMUSED. The 'support' is horrible, I find out through YAHOO - not Apple or my computer - that I need to go through Photo Booth. I remember seeing that years ago. Why is there no photo booth icon at the bottom of my screen??? When did it change to i-Photo, and why aren't the two integrated?? Why do I have to find answers through yahoo? I managed to get photo booth up for a while on my mac book, but seriously, I can't be doing this all the time, now it's gone again and still I have no pic of my dog hating the back of my screen. And I can't find it again! The question is still: How do I take a photo with my mac book? Please DO NOT refer me to a link. NOT LOOKING FOR AN AUTOMATED ANSWER. Also, some additional feedback, Siri is really inferior compared to OK Google in providing directions, answering general questions (understanding voice questions and providing answers) and making voice command calls. I will not be buying an Apple watch for now. I need to see a lot of other improvements, even only how to ask questions about existing products and features and get snappy answers, before I invest in a new Apple product. Disappointed, I always rooted for Apple.

1. The Photo Booth.app is located in the Applications directory of Macintosh HD on Mac OS X systems. But some Microsoft Friendly Family conspirator might have changed the name of the internal storage device, removed the Photo Booth.app icon from the Dock, or possibly deleted the app.
2. Photo Booth.app never DID change to iPhoto.app, or Photos.app. It always was and still is Photo Booth.app.
3. iPhoto and Photos (introduced in Yosemite 10.10.3) are separate programs primarily designed for organizing and editing digital photos, and cannot take selfies.
Once you 'snap' an image with Photo Booth, the images are displayed in the 'film roll' that appears at the bottom of the Photo Booth application after you snap the first image. Clicking on an image in that film roll will select it. Control+clicking offers the option to export or delete the image. Once an image is selected with a single click, click the "upload" icon beneath the film roll to see the options available.
(Yosemite 10.10.2 version illustrated below. Screen transparency means that the background image colors bleed through the menus illustrated below.)
4. There is a fast way to find and start the application called Photo Booth.app.
Click on the Spotlight icon in the upper right corner of your computer screen to search your computer for Photo Booth.app. Yes, there is a space between the words Photo and Booth. Press the enter/return key to open the application which will also enable the user-facing camera and illuminate a green LED.
Click the red button to initiate a 3-step countdown and a simulated flash of the screen to provide more light.
5. Once Photo Booth.app is open and running, 'right click' (if the Secondary click feature of your mouse or trackpad has been enabled in , System Preferences) on the Photo Booth program icon in the bottom 'Dock' of your screen, and select Options, Keep In Dock. That will keep the Photo Booth icon in the bottom program dock for fast future use.

How can I retrieve music and pictures from my Apple Tv?

I had thousands of picture, music and movie files on my Macbook Pro, which was synced to my Apple TV. I have since lost that Macbook Pro along with all the files on it. I bought a new Macbook Pro, but want to see if there is a way of getting all the old files from the Apple TV and putting them on my new Mac. I'd prefer not to pick apart the Apple TV to get to the hard drive. Is there any app or simple way to transfer files through Wifi, like a reverse home sharing? If there isn't there should be.

I assume this is a 1st gen and not the newer models (black box). In any case it is not meant to be used as a storage device and thus no easy way to retrieve

How can two pictures of the same size still appear to be a different size? (Photoshop CS6 problem)

I called the big webdesign file "(X)" and the image I wanted to paste in it "(Y)",
so that you won't be confused when you read it.
What Happened
For the design of a webpage, I made a photoshop-file(X) with a lot of squares(X). These squares(X) had the size 9,42×9,42 centimeters.
I measured the squares(X) carefully and also made sure the size was in centimeters, so I am sure that the size was 9,42×9,42 cm.
My plan was to fill the squares(X) with pictures(Y). I had a map on my computer with a lot of square-sized JPG-images(Y) in it. All I had
to do was open the pictures(Y) in photoshop, change the size into 9,42×9,42 centimeters and copy+paste them into the squares(X)
of the webdesign. I did this before and it worked perfectly.
But then, I opened one of the images(Y) and when I wanted to resize it, the resize-tool said it was only 3,25×3,25 centimeters big.
I thought it was strange, so I copied+pasted it into the design-file(X) with all the squares(X) that needed to be filled. Allthough photoshop
had told me that the squares(X) in the file were 9,42×9,42 centimeters big and the image(Y) I resized was 3,25×3,25, the "small" image(Y)
turned out to be bigger then the squares(X). And when I resized the "small" image(Y) into 9,42×9,42 centimeters, it was even bigger
than it was before. How can this be, and how can I still make the images(X&Y) the same size?
What I already tried
- I made the file of the webdesign(X) with all the squares(X) into one layer, copied the file(X) and opened a new file(X) with the same
measurements of the old file(X). I also changed the resolution of the file(X) into pixels/centimeters instead of pixels/inches.
Then I pasted the image(X) of the old file into the new file. I didn't work; the image(X) that I pasted in the new file was bigger and
when I pasted the other picture(Y) in this image, the same problem was still there.
- I also opened the picture(Y) in photoshop, made a screenshot of it and then pasted the screenshot into paint. With paint I cropped
it again and saved it as a JPEG-file. After that, I opened the image (Y) in photoshop again. It now had the size of 11,27×11,27 centimeters.
Then I resized the image(Y) into 9,42×9,42 cm, but it still wasn't as big as the squares(X).
Could you help me please?
I really don't understand why this problem is happening and I can't think of a solution because I am still quite unexperienced with photoshop
and I also couldn't find the answer on the internet. I assume the solution is very simple, but I haven't found it yet allthough I have to finish this
project soon and I also have to use the image(Y). So any help would be very appreciated.

You need to understand the basic of a digital image.
Image is recorded as pixels and image is a rectangle so many pixels wide and so many pixel high. Pixels do not have a fixed size. The images resolution setting defines the image current pixel size.
So for example if you have and image that is 300 pixel wide and 200 pixels high and set its dip resolution to 100DPI the image size is 3" wide and 2" high. Set its dip setting tp 300DPI the image size becomes 1" wide by 2/3" high. Both the 3" x 2" and the 1"x2/3" images have the same 60000 RGB Colored Pixels.
Web pages are sized to to be so many pixel wide and so many pixel high. Often the height is not enforced scrolling is used when viewing.
However image for web pages often must not exceed so many pixel wide and high for displays have a fixed resolution and a fixed number of Pixels. You want images to fit on users displays. Users use different displays some have high resolution displays and other have low resolution displays with far fewer pixels then high resolution displays.
Web Image are normally image that have been interpolated down in number of pixels a resampled large image so that web image will fit on a low resolution display with limited number of pixels. The image size the user see depend on the display they are currently using. A low resolution display's image will be much larger then the same image displayed on a nexus 10 with a 300dip display. Cheep low cost Desktop LCD have a 84DIP resolution, large high cost desktop displays are not be much higher in resolution somewhere near 108DPI. Tablets, Laptop and Phones can have much higher resolution like the nexus 10 300DPI IPS display

How can I choose multiple pictures, on the iPad, to attach in an email using Mail?

I can easily choose and attach one picture from Photos to an email in Mail. I cannot seem to figure out how to choose multiple pictures, then attach all of them at once. I even tried using a separate folder to attach but that did not work either. Thanks in advance.

From the Photos app tap Edit.
Tap to select up to 5 photos. More and the Mail option is not possible.
Tap Share.
Tap Mail.

With Family Sharing enabled, you get a Family album that all members can add pictures to.
Family Sharing
The whole family can contribute to the family photo album.
Now collecting and sharing family memories is easier and more fun. When Family Sharing is turned on, a shared album is set up automatically in the Photos app on all family members’ devices. Then everyone can add photos, videos, and comments to the album and be notified when something new is added.
Just have them add the pictures to the Family album.

How do I move a picture so that it can be used in multiple projects without removing it from current location

I am organizing several hockey pictures and I am trying to make various projects from the pictures and sometimes I want the same picture in more than one project/album/etc.. Each time I duplicate the version in attempts to move just one of the versios, both are moved to new location and removed from current location. I would greatly appreciate help. Thank you

Piling on : read this. And then read this.
Think this:
Projects are _storage_ containers.
Albums are _viewing_ containers.
(In mind keep this: The naming of "Projects" is the worst interface decision made by Aperture's designers.)
The Image that is created when you import a digicam file is _stored_ in one and in only one container.
You can _view_ the Image in as many viewing containers as you want.
Store them by shoot unless you have a better, complete, workflow. Don't ever move them from their storage container, except to delete them.
View them by _output project (small "p")_. Create as many of these as you need.
