No signal on Samsung LN-37Q450 TV

Hi:
I am trying to hook up my Apple TV to a Samsung LN-37Q450 TV. I've tried HDMI and component, and with both I get a No Signal message on the TV. What's more, it doesn't show up on my MacBook Pro's iTunes menu.
I've used this Apple TV with other TVs, so I know it works. I just can't figure out why it's not working now. I've tried resetting by holding down the menu and - keys for six seconds. Is there anything else anyone can recommend?
Thanks!
Rik

I have the same problem with my LG 42" TV. It is a new tv bought just so I can use Apple TV. I went back to Apple in Bristol (twice in fact) who tested ATV with my HDMI cable and it worked fine. Apple support on phone were useless. LG replaced my new tv but ATV didn't work on the new one either! LG also sent out an engineer who confirmed that the HDMI ports worked and it is a fault with ATV. I fine Apple very poor with their support over this issue and I will get my money back next week.

  • "No Signal" on Samsung HDTV

I am trying to connect my Samsung LN52B750 HDTV to my Macbook Air. I have monoprice's mini-DVI to HDMI cable. "SAMSUNG" appears as a display choice on the Mac, with different resolutions and mirroring options, but nothing I have done has been able to get anything besides "No Signal". I've turned mirroring on and off, overscan on/off, etc, but nothing shows up on the display. I've tried renaming HDMI1 on the Samsung TV to DVI PC and PC with no luck either Any ideas?

I tried my TV with a Windows 7 PC, and picture came right up. I also tried my macbook and cable on Panasonic plasma, and some Samsung's: unknown model and even this year B550 worked immediately with no issue. I went to Fry's and tried my macbook and cable with the B650 and B750 models there, and got no signal on them either.

  • ATV 3rd Gen showing no signal on Samsung UE40EH6035

    Hi all
Bought ATV yesterday and it worked fine when plugged to the tv while installing it.
After being gone for a few hours i wanted to use it again and there was no signal on the telly.
Rebooted the ATV and signal came and i was able to use it.
Later that same evening there was no problem and GF and I bought a movie and saw half of it before going to sleep.
Then this morning there is "no signal" on either HDMI ports.. Reboot doesnt work, rebooted router, telly and ATV again.. No use.
Switched the ends of the HDMI cable around as i read on this forum that some cables has a sort of oneway transmission-thing. No use.
The menu on the Samsung is not letting me dedicate HDMI-ports as suggested elsewhere on the forum.
Been browsing google for 2 hours now and havent yet found any usefull info that relates to my exact issue.
    Help please !

A new HDMI-cable was the apparent solution. Borrowed one from a friend and voila..

    Any idea ?
    Thanks

Has there been an answer yet? I have the same problem with my Samsung LE40R74BD. The HDMI cable is connected properly and the TV is in the correct mode. It just says "no signal" and sometimes "mode not supported". Have tried teh "cycling" but nothing yet..
Any ideas? Thanks a lot for any help!

  • New Macbook won't send DVI signal to Samsung 226B LCD monitor

I have the mini-DVI-DVI adaptor going into a Comprehensive DVI-D cable that goes directly into my Samsung monitor. My monitor won't show any signal from the Mac. I went nto Display and "calibrated" the signal but i never see a signal on teh SSung.

Sorry I didn't see this thread before or else I would have jumped on it.
The question is when, if ever, did you update to 10.5.5? Before or after you noticed the problem?

  • HT204400 Apple TV drops strong wifi signal.

Everything up to date with reliable 50Mbps internet, Apple TV works with Cat 5 cable, but drops streams frequently and lags airplay when connected wirelessly. It is 10 feet away from the router. why? Restarted multiple times, checked software version multiple times, restarted router, restarted MBP, it just won't stay connected. Is there a fix coming for this?

I'm not having a problem with the speed of the internet, I'm having a problem with it staying connected... yes I know it's a wifi issue that's obvious... thanks for pointing that out.
Nohting for Apple to fix? hmmmm, well Two Samsung phones never drop the signal, a Samsung TV never drops the signal, a Samsung Tab 2 never drops the signal, an iPad Mini never drops the signal, a Macbook Pro never drops the signal.... but for some reason the Apple TV drops the signal 20+ times during one movie and it won't stream airplay.
Not to mention multiple other posts complaining about it staying connected even using Apple Airport.
So hopefully there are other people who will read this post that can respond with more than just pointing out the obvious. I mean seriously theres gotta be something that can be fixed or something because thus far Apple products have been impressive, this doesn't seem to fit their M.O.

  • E75 Signal strength??

I am now on my second E75 as I couldnt believe how bad the signal quality was on my first one!
Guess what??........the second one is just as bad!!!!
This must be a known fault with the E75 - it is terrible!!
I have been losing calls, missing calls, and not able to get a signal at my house or office - I have never had these problems before!!
I did a quick, albeit un-scientific, experiment the other day.
I put my old N85, my wifes Nokia 6288 and my daughters Samsung Tocca - all 200mm apart on the same surface - all facing the same way as my Nokia e75...............all have Vodafone SIM's
The N85 and 6288 had two bars of signal - the Samsung nearly full signal!.......and the E75??.......................NOTHING..................not even an operator signal!!
Should I send it back and revert to my N85 or will there be a quick fix...SOON????

    Hey Guys,
There is a person in this forum (forgot the link) that explained the problem that the E75 and the newer phones are having in regards to reception. If you do a search for a user named: silo24 or silo123 (sorry), you should be able to get some info. Wish I could help more.

  • Why the inconsistency with the "Droid" name and Android devices.

This seems like poor marketing to me.
Verizon made such a big deal about the name DROID.
The was the DROID and the DROID ERIS, now there is the DROID INCREDIBLE and the DROID X and soon to be the DROID 2.
But why is there the Moto Devour and LG Ally instead of the DROID DEVOUR by Motorola and the DROID ALLY by LG?

I can't help it just say Incredible, or HTC Incredible. I leave out the "droid" nonsense because I always get some cell phone illiterate person saying "you got a droid cool, my entire family just got free ones on an upgrade". You know what I'm saying. It's just annoying to have to explain or show people what I have and what they have or want..
I really wish VZW let Moto only use that term.
Back when the Incredible was a rumor it was cool to think something different was coming out. They announced it as the HTC "Droid" Incredible. Geez.... Whatever....
YEah I get what they are doing but it is leading to a lot of irritation.  People talk about the DROID and could be talking about any of them.  So yeah I just call them the Droid (moto Droid), Incredible (HTC DROID Incredible), Eris (HTC DROID ERIS), Ally (LG Droid ALLY), Devour (Moto Droid Devour), Droid X (because DROID X just sounds awesome even if Droid is over done).  I would like a Samsung personally mostly because I have had nothing but good experiences with Samsung phones and since my Droid was good with phone calls (better after some modding) I have to think that a Samsung Android phone would be Gnarly on VZW.  It is odd but it seems to me certain manufacturers are better on GSM and some are better on CDMA.  Samsung and LG seem better on CDMA where Motorola and a few others are better with GSM.  Or at least that has been my experience with feature phones over the last what 15 years.  Or I guess not when ever 3G came out would be GSM/CDMA but also back when I was on Sprint, Bell South, and GTE,  Bell South I had great luck with Nokia and Moto - Eventually they became GSM and were swollowed by AT&T a few years ago, Sprint my Moto was good but I always had better signals with Samsung and LG phones, and GTE which shortly after was swollowed by Verizon has always been good with Samsung and LG (LG has been a little more hit or miss they have had a few misses though which is why I am more excited about Samsung than LG) and the MOTOROLA phones I had were the ones where I was counting the days until my upgrade.
The DROID name is about branding.  They want to stand out as a big ANDROID player and one way to do that is to snatch up as many Android phones as you can get the manufacturers to make you and the other is to unify their image on your network with Branding.  The idea being to get people thinking DROID and kind of downplay the Motorola, HTC, LG, Samsung, etc roles.  Really it is something Google should have thought and had it on all the Android phones but Verizon is using it mostly for marketing purposes.  It makes for some interesting commercials and has been successful.  What gets me though is when people refer to EVO and Mytouch Slide as Droids because they are Android phones.  LOL.  Doesn't bother me but probably would bother Verizon if it ever made it to a major platform.  The marketing is so effective it is about to be like Jello and Aspirin and Coke in the south.  Any gelatin desert or generic Aspirin or soda is called by one of these names no matter who makes it.  Bayer lost that battle a long time ago but the other two persist.

  • Poor antenna?

Fascinate never reports a signal greater than -86 dbm. Bars bounce from full to none. Time without signal at least 10 percent. I compared to 2 models in store and noticed same issues. where droid phones in same store reported full bars and                 -60's dbm. I live less than a mile from tower and my wifes motorola droid stays full bars -60 to -70's dbm. Yes I have tried the *228 option 1 and 2. Im on latest prl. Did samsung put a poor antenna in the fascinates? Or is this a baseband issue that will be fixed? The gps takes at least 2 to 3 minutes to lock where the motorola is instantaneous. Its like I have gone back to at&t with this reception.

My is the same way. The salesman informed me at Verizon that Samsung do not make good phones with good signal, Imagine That!
the salesman does not always know.
i have had my current samsung phone for almost 2 years.
i have never had a signal issue.
    samsung builds solid phones
there are occasional software issues, but the hardware is great

I am using a mini display port to VGA adapter. I have sucessfully hooked up boh devices but it stopped working after a handful of times. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix the problem or is my cable broken?

how do I connect my new (purchased last week) macbook air to my samsung smart tv? I purchased the adapter at the apple store and connected to the TV via HDMI cable.  The TV says "no signal.  I do not see TV as an option in the display tab of system preferences.  what else do I need to do?

First, make sure your TV is tuned to display the correct input signal. Most TVs have several inputs (multiple HDMIs, cable connections, RCA etc) so double-check that you're using the correct one - HDMI1, HDMI2 or whatever is written next to the port.
I assume that you have a mini-Displayport to HDMI adaptor? If you open displays preferences, first tick the box that says "show display preferences in menu bar" then locate the menu and click Detect Displays. See if that helps.

  • I cannot get a signal from my MacBook Pro to a Samsung T220HD using an HDMI cable

I was in the Apple store to see how to improve the resolution on my Samsung T220HD, which I had connected to my MacBook Pro using the PC cable and an Mini DisplayPort adaptor.  The staff recommended I buy a Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable instead.  I've plugged the new cable in, and the Samsung display reads "Check signal cable".
I don't have another cable to test it; am I doing something wrong?

Mini Dis[playPort cables have a lot of contacts, and require a lot of force to seat properly. Push until all the metal part of the plug disappears into the jack.

  • "No Signal" on my Samsung TV when trying to connect my MacBook Pro

When I try to connect my MacBook Pro to my Samsung HDTV it says no signal. My Pro doesn't flash blue or anything. I'm using a rocketfish adapter with an HDMI cable connected to it. I got my Pro in June 2010. Any idea on how to get this to work?

    Hello TT31,
A quick fix you might attempt would be making visible, then clicking, the 'Detect Displays' button in the Displays pane of System Preferences. It can be made visible by holding the Option key once you've brought up the Displays pane (it will appear at the bottom right near the question mark).

  • No signal message - Mac Mini - Samsung P2370HD - DVI-D cable

I just received my new Mac mini and want to connect it via DVI-D cable to my existing Samsung P2370HD monitor. I have a DVI-D to mini-DisplayPort adapter connected to the Mac Mini and then a long (3-5 ft) DVI-D male to DVI-D male cable connecting the adapter to my monitor. I have checked all connections but the monitor is giving me a "No signal" message. When I unplug the cable from the adapter, the monitor gives me a "Check signal cable" message, so it seems as if the signal is not making it through the adapter to the TV.
Can anyone offer advice? I really don't want to pay for a new monitor.

My brain finally kicked in, and I was able to get the monitor to work by using the mini-DVI to DVI cable included with the Mac Mini and connecting that cable to my DVI-D (male to male) cable. I am now getting a signal to the monitor. Guess I will be returning the Dual Link DVI to Mini Displayport adapter as it was not cheap!

  • "No signal" display with Samsung TV with Apple TV

    Hello,
I just purchased a Samsung model code UN39FH5000FXZA TV and attached my new apple tv with HDMI cord. Each time I turn the TV on I get a 'no signal' display when I am on the setting for apple TV. I must unplug the apple TV from the electrical outlet and replug, then it will appear on TV normally. I have spent time 'googling' answers and it seems that many are having similar issues. I have tried different HDMI cables, reversing the HDMI cable, switching the HDMI2 and setting it to the "PC" setting. The only advice I wasn't able to do was accessing the TV service menu and disabling 'hotplug' which seemed to work for many people. I am able to access this menu but 'hotplug' is no where to be found. Maybe it was on older TVs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I certainly do not want to unplug and re-plug each time I turn on the TV.
    Thank you!

We also have a Samsung and just recently had a problem with ATV not showing signal... Latee I realized I guess one by one the hdmi was slowly bugging... None of the hdmi devices were giving a signal... So this may make you smack your own forehead... I turned off the TV... Unplugged it for about 10secs... Replugged... And viola... All is working again... Hope that helps!
