No sound in yahoo chat after installing the "bios fix"

I had to do the "bios fix" from toshiba. Since then I no long have sound in yahoo chat. I've tried reinstalling the vissta voice fix for yahoo, I've tried uninstalling msngr and upgrading to msngr 10 and nothing seems to work. Anybody have any ideas? When I go into chat I get an error msg that says "your computer does not appear to have audio input capability, or is not configured proprly". This started immediatly after I did the "bio fix" install. And continues after reinstalling tsp_codec and vista voice fix and msngr 10.

There are couple of things you can do.
1st. IF you have never had sound in yahoo with Vista. Go to free creed and down load the vista voice fix. That did it for me.
2nd I found out the fix for my own problem. I had to plug a dummy into my mic slot and now I have sound.
3rd If you must have msngr 8.1 or newer for either of these fixes to work

Hello everyone. I have a problem on my laptop. When I upgraded the bios and successfully installed the laptop rebooted but the screen stayed black while everything else seemed to be working normally. I tried to connect an external monitor to the VGA output on the external display I've got a normal image and the windows are raised normally.
I tried to get back into BIOS setup by default but i still do not get a picture on the screen of the laptop.
If someone had a similar problem or can help in solving this problem, I would be very grateful.

Did you check the inverter or LCD cable connection page 133 of your manual. As if it is showing on a monitor it is not the processor graphic card or Ram.

No sound after installing the latest drivers

After installing the latest drivers for X-fi xtrememusic, 2.8.003 I have no sound. Also my creative console is stuck in Entertainment Mode, it won't switch to any other mode. Help please?

Well, i don't have a solution for you, but if your soundcard + hub act like that even under xp after a few weeks i would suggest to get a replacement, cause there might be a hardware-error that causes your problem. Why has the sound gone all of a sudden after installing the new iOS 5.0.1?

I have had the iPhone 4s since the time it was released in the uk, u had no problems with it, it's network coverage was pretty good, the loudness of the speakers was good ad the battery would last me an entire day, now after installing the new ios 5.0.1, my sous has gone, I can't hear the music playing, I can't here te clicks and the tap sounds when touching the phone, the only time it makes sound is when I make a call and I can put it on loud speaker, other than that there's no sound coming from te loud speaker, oh yeah Siri seems to be working fine. Do aby of you people know what's wrong and if any of you lot are going through the same problem or any other problems since tbe update to ios5.0.1, apple you need to get this sorted as the speaker is important to some of us if not all and it would be great if you could sort this out and any other problems caused by this update and to allow the phone to work and operate the way it should, thanks!

Hi Guys, I FIXED IT!!!!
I have post eariler on this forum and as you know I have the same problem, I have tried all the things listed here and nothing was perminant in fixing this painful iphone hating problem.... and failed. But I need to happily say that I now have the fix!!!! This worked for me and I fixed it by myself so you don't need to go to apple or service centre or anything.
Ok I like so many of you here truly believed this was as IO5 issue as it only dropped the sound on the speakers once that IO5 update came along. I tried a bunch of reset, reboots, home clicks, lock and unlocks, to fix this and all failed. some worked for an hour but then failed. hours of my life that I will never get back.   but since I have learnt this is not a IO5 problem but a hardware issue! ... and in paticualar is has to do with your bottom connection. Your phone is thinking it is docked all the time.
To fix the no sound problem what you need is...
1. a torch
2. a tooth brush
3. methalated spirits
4. a butter knife
Step 1.
get your torch and shine it down the bottom connection plate to see what kind of dust, sand, hair or anything you have stuck in there.   all that need to be removed! everything! it might look clean but still thats ok go to step 2.
step 2.
Turn on your music app and put the speakers on! If your phone is like mine it should not work. you most probably don't even have the volume display to turn it on but its ok, just do it! and it should still play with no sound.   its important you try and run the speakers as this will show you that it is a hardware problem.
step 3.
Dip your tooth brush into some methated sprits.   then at your sink tap the exess metho out of your brush as you just want the brushes to be slightly damp, not soaking wet and then scrub the bottom connetiors on your iphone. work the brush back and forward in a way that scoops the dirt out of the phone, not just pushing it side to side.
(As you bushing you should notice the volume bar come back on or off as you scub.   This happened to me and that is how I realised I was on the right track to fixing this problem as I was doing something external that was actually controling when the volume display came on or off.   but once I cleaned it this still didn't fix the problem...)
Step 4.
Use the back side of a butter knife (not the sharp side) to gently slide over the connectors on the iphone. Do this gently as you are only pushing down on the tiny metal contect bars and you should notice the volume display come on again. slide it back and forward. Now the area of interest is about 2/3 along the connection plate to the right.   This is the area that has the infomation sent when your iphone thinks its docked.
This has worked for me and I have not had a problem since I did this 2 weeks ago.   I have since learnt that the new IOS 5 has activated a different part of the bottom conectors. if you have been using dodgy connectors or unapproved apple cables (as I was) any damage or hair and dirt on the terminal this is effecting it. Try it.   just remember if you can do something external to your phone then there lies the problem.

My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite.

ValentinT, welcome to the forum.
There are no drivers available for Windows 8. I suggest checking in the Control Panel/Sound/Recording to assure that your microphone is selected. It seems that the Sound is one area that gets changed when updating to Win 8.1. At least, this is what happened to me.

Blue screen after installing the X-Fi driv

Hello!
The problem is - after installing the X-Fi Fataliti drivers on to brand clean Win XP Pro SP2, I get Blue screen. After uninstalling those drivers in safe mode I downloaded last version from here

I'm completely exhausted.
I cant make this "outstanding, the most powerfull" soundcard work.
The last thing was - i deleted all the creative soft and installed only the driver. After system comes, and windows desktop is visible, the computer freezes and only hard reset can wake it up.
What the problem is??
I've sent this issue with my system configuration to creative, filled the form on the site.

My iPhoto keeps crashing after installing the latest update, can't do anything! It used to crash when importing but now I'm at the point where I open the software and after 2 seconds it crashes (nothing connected either). What to do? Can't access any photos

Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If you can create a new library and import some test photos then the problem lies with your original library.
If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If iPhoto crashes while trying to create a new library then try this:
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If that fails to help a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

P.S. If you're still running Tiger, 10.4.6, then the above may not apply. If you're running a newer system you should update your profile so we have a better idea of where you're at.

Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. if it's restarting directly into an error, you can try troubleshooting (might be painful) or re-install windows with boot camp
